Uninstall preinstalled applications

Hi:
I just got a Nokia 6650 from ATT wireless that comes with many applications that require subscriber fees that I do not want.  However, the normal uninstall through the Apps Manager will not work, resulting in the error mesage "Uninstallation not allowed".
Is there any way to get this c***ware off my phone?
Thanks

AT&T probably have them set that way - they have paid to have them built into their version of the phone firmware, so just in case you ever change your mind about needing them, they won't allow you to shift them.
I saw a case recently of another AT&T customer who discovered the hard way that the phone's built-in voice-dialling system was removed on his phone in favour of AT&T's paid-for network-based service, so nothing would surprise me from this company. I used to live in the UK, and I thought that what British networks did to phone software was bad enoug, but I can see now that they are pure angels compared to the US networks.

Wow!  You must have a whole heckuva lot of those apps.  I don't even notice the ones on mine.
But ultimately it boils down to the following question: "Whose phone am I using"
If the answer is mine then I ask:
"Can I get some kick-backs for hosting unsolicited advertising on MY phone"
I believe LauncherPro will allow you to hide apps.  LP is a free app, and no...I'm not getting any kickbacks for suggesting it.

  • How do i uninstall an application in my macbook pro

hello community...how is all of you doing..... hope everything is going on well in each of your lives..... please i am new using a mac and i have found myself wanting to know how to do one of the easiest things i do in my windows pc....... i want to know how to uninstall an application on a mac... i am currently using the LION os ...... there is an application i want to uninstall.... please i will really appreciate it if you all can help me.... thanks in advance ...

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • How to uninstall Apple Application Support v. 1.2.1 on a PC or force a new installation of QuickTime

After running Apple QuickTime for three or more years on my PC running Windows XP, apparently some part of its code became corrupted.  Trying to install an updated version of QuickTime, all went well until the new installation was not able uninstall the old version of Apple Application Support, v. 1.2.1.
How can I uninstall the old version of Apple Application Support v. 1.2.1, or, how can I force a new installation of QuickTime without first uninstalling Apple Application Support?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jim

Jim, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache is where Apple Application Support is located should you want to delete it, the version you mention is old.
You may be able to first force a new update by going to. C:\ Program Files\Apple Software Update and double clicking on SoftwareUpdate exe
If that doesn't work for you than you would have to remove the old QuickTime msi file. Which is a microsoft installer file. Located in C:\WINDOWS\Installer
If you have any difficulty locating and removing the msi file this link to Windows Installer CleanUp Utillty should help. If not post back.

  • Uninstall CS6 applications

As part of the troubleshooting to install Creative Cloud apps, it was suggested by Adobe staff to uninstall CS6 applications, download CC apps, and re-download the CS6 apps.  Although hesitant, I tried uninstalling a CS6 app I never use (Dreamweaver).  Going to through the Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS6/uninstall Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 path, I started the uninstall.  Adobe Application Manager and then became unresponsive.  What is going on with these Adobe products that I can not install CC apps and now I can not uninstall CS6 apps?  With all of these issues I am having, I am becoming very discouraged.  I love using Adobe products, but this is getting to be a bit ridiculous.  I am so fearful that if I am able to uninstall the CS6 apps, I will not be able to install CC apps or reinstall CS6 apps given the recent history of problems I have had.
Here is a list of things I have tried thus far.  May not be in order since they are from memory and some have been tried multiple times.
    Deleted folders/files in /tmp folder
    Uninstall Adobe CC apps
    Uninstall/Reinstall Adobe Desktop Manager
    Run Cleaner tool
Rename suggested folders to old_OOBE and etc
Tried direct downloads of CC apps
Tried download from website, app downloads through manager, stalls at 42%; setup using 100% CPU
Tried terminating Adobe CEF Helper (all 4 of them) during setup, none will terminate.
Verified and repaired disk using disk utility
Verified and repaired permissions using disk utility
Deleted HEX folder containing Adobe CEF Helper files and tried install again.  (did this on a whim since I tried just about everything else)
    Cleaned up Adobe ID credentials
Tried uninstalling CS6 app (Dreamweaver) to test if I could reinstall CS6 apps.  Failed
I have no idea what else I can do.  Any ideas, suggestions, step-by-step guides, anything that will help me get CC apps on my MacBook Pro will be greatly appreciated.
Just some additional information.  I was able to download/install LightRoom 5 and I did download/install 3 fonts.  Sync works fine.  Just can not install/uninstall any apps.

Bstouff I would recommend reviewing the installation log files to determine the exact error which is preventing the installation from occurring.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret that installation log files at Creative Cloud Help / Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC.  The process is the same for both CS6 and CC 2014 Adobe applications.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover.

How do I uninstall an application that I downloaded by mistake? It won't let me move it to trash as it says it's open. How do I close it?

Launch the Activity Monitor in /Utilities and sort by name. Select any that refer to the app (shame you didn't indicate what it was), click on the Quit Process button, and click on Force Quit. When all are gone, empty the trash.

  • Sleeping iMac after install/uninstall of applications

I'm going to me receiving my first iMac in the next few days.
Presently on my Windows computer. A lot of the time when I have installed or uninstalled programs, I am shown on the screen that I need to restart my computer.
I was wondering if this is the same on Mac?
Also. I've read many posts that say its advisable to put a Mac to sleep (most of the time) rather than shutting it down everytime I would have finished using it. In light of this, if I install or uninstall an application on my iMac, would it be still OK to put the iMac to sleep or would it be advisable to shut the iMac down instead after I'd finished using it?
    Thanks in advance.

Most of the apps don't need to restart your Mac to complete their installation, but there are others that have to restart the Mac, so it happens with Macs, but less frequently.
We recommend to put the Mac to sleep because the start will be faster and your Mac in sleep doesn't consume more energy
Thanks for the help mende1, its much appreciated.
You mention that "there are others that have to restart the Mac". I assume that with any such applications, that I would be notified that I would need to restart my iMac?
    Thanks again

  • How do I completely uninstall an application using Darwin?

    Dear Forum Members,
Hello to everyone, I'm new to the Apple Discussions forum and this is my first post. Recently, I came to understand through online sources that most applications designed to uninstall software do not completely remove everything. Does Darwin have the commands needed to completely uninstall an application? If so, what are they and in what order would I execute them? When the need arises, I would like to know how to do this properly.
My experience in using Darwin is basic but I would like to learn more and become more proficient with its use.
    Thank you,
    AYW?

There is "No" unified uninstall facility.
If the application did not provide its own uninstall script, then you generally drag the application to the trash, then if you are worried about the preferences files you look in $HOME/Library/Preferences and maybe "$HOME/Library/Application Support" for files related to the app you trashed.
If you installed something via open source tools, then you dig through the makefile and look for where stuff was installed, and undo it.

  • How to uninstall downloaded application on N97

can anyone tell me how to uninstall downloaded applications on N97. Its a new mobile i have bought and new to his world of smart phones. thanks.

GPS on the N97 seems problematic for many. It can be very slow and not very accurate.
I have been working with an app developer to try and track down a bug I reported with their program regarding GPS which we found and they have now corrected. However, in the process, they discovered a bug in Nokia's GPS system itself and reported it. I know Maps 3.1 have just been re-released so maybe they have fixed it.
I have a permanent data connection active so don't get asked about the connection when I load Maps. My partner uses a 5800 and don't go online with it using the mobile network and the mapping doesn't work properly. If they connect to a network, all seems fine.
Sorry to be a bit vague but I don't use GPS much.

  • How do I uninstall an application from my home screen?

How do I uninstall an application from my home screen? example: I want to remove my fantasy football team website from my home screen. I accidently saved it on the home screen twice, so now I have two of the same thing saved on my home screen.

This is an app, not a web clip from a website?
Not sure how there can be two copies of the same app on your iPhone.
If a web clip from a website, press and hold the icon for the web clip or on the icon for any other app or web clip on the home page where the web clip is located until all icons start to wiggle. Select the X on the icon for the web clip that you want deleted. After the web clip is deleted, press the home button.

  • I cant uninstall CC applications after install CC2014

    Hola
    My OS is 10.9.3
I installed some applications CC2014 and now I ca't uninstall the old versions (and new). Although I had already successfully uninstalled some applications in previous days.
From not being able to uninstall, I've also seen applications that I installed do not appear as installed in the CC box.
The error asks me quit applications, startup items, virus software and firewall.
I've done everything, but the problem persists.
    Some one can help me?

Xavi333 if possible could you copy and paste the text of your error to the forum.  This will allow me to translate the error.
I would recommend checking your log files for the specific error you are experiencing.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret your installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.
