Uninstall/Re-install DVDSP

DVD Studio Pro 4 has been giving me fits lately- toolbar missing (show/hide doesn't help), Burn, Advanced Burn greyed back and unaccessable, etc.
I would like to re-install the program from the Final Cut Studio discs. When I try, installing DVDSP is not an option- greyed back-. My guess is because it's already in my apps.
Is there an Uninstall/re-install ritual that I can use to start with a fresh version. Up until this week, it had been working perfectly. Then I had some boot drive problems, which are allegedly fixed. Everything is fine with this one exception. Oh, and prefs have been trashed.

No new software, been using Tiger for some time now (months).
Back story:
All was working well until last Thursday when I had spinning beachball problems on booting up. Each mouse click was taking minutes to perform its task- opening a window, etc. A client was due in a couple of hours, so I got out my Apple Care quick reference card and followed instructions. #3 on the list was to run the Tech Tools disc that came with the Apple Care program. After running it, the G5 would no longer even boot up. I called Apple Care and repeated the story. "You didn't run Tech Tools, did you?!" asked the service rep. "NEVER RUN TECH TOOLS- It causes more problems than it fixes." After we argued a bit about why Apple Care instructions tell you to run the program that comes with the Apple Care package, he said the only recourse at this point was to reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything. I reformatted the hard drive. I have a backup G4 with Final Cut Studio loaded on it, for such emergencies, so during the Tiger installation on the G5, I opted for the 'use an old computer to reload all your apps' method of reinstalling everything.
After all that, FCP 5 works fine, as well as everything else I have had the chance to test. DVDSP is one exception. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with your help, but it still won't give me a toolbar, and crashes regularly. Compressor doesn't appear to be working either. 'Export using Compressor' from FCP opens briefly, then crashes before opening completely, every time. For now I am exporting via QuickTime conversion. Then I am burning to DVD via Toast. Works for now, but I do need to get this straightened out once this week's deadline has passed.
Anything in this story spark an idea?

settigns>itunes and app store to make sure you are signed in.. If you are, you will see your account name..... anyhow, click your account name, sign out and sign back in
also go to to settings>general>reset and reset network settings... if that doesnt work settings>general>reset and reset all settings!

Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.

Bridge worked great for a while then started to fail when starting. Old Bridge CS6 still works fine. HELP ... please.

OK. You merely erased the content and settings. The IOS is still there.
If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures. From what you've already stated, my guess is that you'll end up with Recovery Mode described in the last paragraph.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this.

with that one, let's try the following procedure.
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

don't worry, I for my part I have on my computer more of these earlierer (outdated in some cases) Adobe programs, to see the difference or for some other reasons. Try them out for a while and then decide, whether you need the both.
