Uninstall Safari 4.1 and go back to 4.0

I think I need some help , I want to uninstall Safari 4.1 and install Safari 4.0.

You could try another method of reverting to an older version
of Safari, short of an 'archive & install + update' of 10.4.11.
A second method involves using Pacifist utility from Charlessoft.
This would run adequately in Demo mode, for free, and work:
http://www.charlessoft.com/
Some ideas on that, are among the topics in this page:
http://appletoolbox.com/2010/07/troubleshooting-safari-5-0-eliminating-slowness- crashing-page-loading-problems-and-more/#downgrade
The details (versions involved) is different in the above page,
but the factors and methods would be similar to do the job.
I've reverted iTunes and a few other apps before, but some of
them need to have files or receipt/packages removed from a
place they may be hiding in the system, for to install again;
but with an integrated browser such a Safari, that may be hard.
But not impossible. And, there is the Archive & Install (+ update)
method; to give you a new system folder. If you approach that
carefully, the new folder/system would retain your current info.
Since my primary browser is not Safari, I often upgrade it last
among others, since installing that restarts my computer(s)
often at a time when I am not needing to restart them, yet.
{My Macs run for a month or more at a time; without shutdown.}
+What are the problems, exactly, you are having with Safari 4.1+
+and what have you tried to fix them, short of revert/remove it?+
If you have Safari set as the default browser, you can change it
and run with something else; maybe Camino, until you sort it out.
Good luck & happy computing!

Rather than fiddle with the tar file, if it wasn't saved, or using Pacifist, simply DL and install the
Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. It'll wipe all Safari 5.1 components and install Safari 5.0.5.

  • Need to uninstall safari 3.1 and go back to older version

I downloaded the new version of safari before realizing that it is not compatible with OX 10.3.7 Now, safari, mail and iweb don't work. I just want to go back to my earlier version and I don't know how to fix this.

err have you tried? this isn't the first 10.3.x user to report the same issue when mistakenly using the safari 3.1 installer.
as far as I can see/remember from looking at it a few weeks ago.... the 3.1 installer is of a type where the pre-install checks are contained in a file that isn't recognised as part of the installer package expected by pre-Tiger Installer.app - so the install goes ahead regardless; replacing/adding all the files seen in this pic

  • How to uninstall 10.4.4 and go back to 10.4.3

    Hi everyone:
Having font problems after 10.4.4 install (like others posted). What's the BEST method of uninstalling 10.4.4 and going back to 10.4.3. Can I just run the Mac Update 10.4.3 Combo Installer to return to the previous version?
Or is this going to cause even more problems?
    Thanks,
    PLC

Pop in your system disk (the cd your computer came with) and do an archive and install. It will keep all your files intact. Then you can do the 10.4.3 update combo.

Have you tried to open System Preferences, then Print & Scan and then try to Add + a printer?
I have an Epson RX580 and am using OS X 10.8.2 and it is working as a (Bonjour) printer.  My Epson RX580 is plugged into my AirPort Extreme and I can print over my wireless network to the RX580.  However, I do not see any Scan options with this setup.
Anyone know anything about getting the scanning portion of the RX580 to work over the network like the printing function does with my Airport Extreme?  Or can I not "share" a scanner over the USB port on the Airport Extreme?  I know, kind on topic/off topic - but I think it fits under OS questions better.
    Thanks for your advice!

  • How can I uninstall Pages 5.2 and go back to Pages 4.3?

I am very frustrated using Pages 5.2.  It is not as easy to use as 5.2 and causes me all sorts of problems - especially when highlighting text.  How can I uninstall Pages 5.2 and go back to Pages 4.3 which was much easier to use?

Thanks. The new version of Pages and iMovie are useless to me. I need to delete the new version of Pages so my functional documents won't keep trying to "upgrade" to pages 5.2.  It annoys me to no end. I hope they smarten up soon.
It seems that Apple is trying to turn its computer applications into iphone apps. They are eliminating essential features and functions that don't work on a 600 dollar pocket watch. It appears to be part of a misguided attempt to have universal cross-platform compatibility. Or they just want to get out of the computer business. I suspect that accountants are having too much influence on business models. There is a place for accountants. But giving too much control to bean counters can eliminate quality and cripple innovation, leading to the ultimate downfall of the corporation.

    Hi,
Can you please expand on your issue? As far as I can see all the previous functions of 11 are in 12 albeit shown differently. Using get info to edit date is still possible, again it looks and feels different.

  • HT201364 how do I uninstall OS X Mavericks and revert back to OS mountain lion?

how do I uninstall OS X Mavericks and revert back to OS mountain lion?

You can't uninstall an OS X version. You would have to erase the drive and reinstall a prior OS version. That's why you should never upgrade without having a backup.
However, just about any router in the world should work with Mavericks, without the need of any DVD supplied software.

  • I desperately need to uninstall 13.4.0 and go back to the immediately previous version

Is this help site designed by the same people who keep devolving Thunderbird? Are these people bored? Are they so young they've never heard of the adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"? Because with 13.4.0 they have actually BROKEN Thunderbird to the point that I cannot use it. It's preventing me from running my business right this moment. The address bar does not work, causing me great humilation yesterday when I sent 20 emails to the same address, not realizing your broken software changed all the addresses I chose to the first one that popped up after I tabbed to the next line. The spell check doesn't work. I can't change font colors when composing. When I enter the compose screen the cursor lands in the text field instead of the address. I WILL NEVER DOWNLOAD ANOTHER OF YOUR ALLEGED UPGRADES TO THIS SOFTWARE. I desperately need to get back to the previous version before I lose any more money in my business. I have read the instrux for doing this at the appropriate links, and I can't even begin to understand these instux. Is there anybody out there who can walk me through getting this garbage off my computer and back to the 13.3.0 version, which actually WORKS? Waiting anxiously ... Christine

I guess the best answer would be in the form of a question: Are you using Thunderbird right now with 31.4.0? You're free to doubt me, but I'm telling you, I would not have gone through all the trouble to try to register here at this site if Thunderbird had not been majorly compromised after I downloaded 31.4.0. IT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! I'm not the only one having the exact same problems with it. It's useless like this. And because I cannot understand the instructions that you find so clear, I'm stuck with this because I don't have time to bring a new email client in right now. I've already spent more time than I have trying to get help.
THE ADDRESS WINDOW DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY
First of all, when you click on the "write" button, the cursor lands in the body of the email instead of the first line of the address window. THIS IS A MAJOR CHANGE FOR THE WORSE.
Second of all, when you start typing in a name and the address choices window appears, and you choose one that is not at the top of the list, Thunderbird places that address in the correct spot. BUT, everytime you advance to the next address line, Thunderbird changes all previously entered addresses to the first address you chose. Now I have to use the mouse to position the cursor, one address line at a time, or all the addresses will be the same as the first, actually CHANGED by the software without giving that software any commands.
When I highlight a word in the text of an email I am composing, and click on "spell," I just get the audible error sound from my computer. IT DOES NOTHING. When I highlight a word in the text of an email I am composing, and click on the color option to change the color of that word, IT DOES NOTHING except generate an audible error sound from my computer.
Please tell me you can understand my descriptions of these problems BETTER than I can understand the instrux you find so easy for uninstalling and going back to the previous version of Thunderbird. I appreciate your taking time to help me, but it is NOT HELPFUL to tell me that what I am experiencing is NOT happening simply because you "doubt" it.

  • I am trying to uninstall Creative Suite CC and go back to CS6.

I have uninstalled the applications, restarted my computer and tried the CC Cleaner Tool. It still will not start my CS6 applications without a dialog window instructing me to "Renew Your Subscription" and it won't let me go any further. I am trying the get rid of the membership and go back to perpetual license.
I am on Mac OSX 10.6.8.

  • Hi, I'd like to uninstall this awful OS and go back to Tiger.

Right. I can't stand snow leopard. It's an awful OS. It dwindles in comparison. And I want it GONE! It's completely screwed up very thing from Photoshop, to screen savers.
And the worst thing? Quick Time.
xI paid out for Quick Time pro back when I first got my mac book pro. And it was great. I edits in a blink of an eye when I needed some easy and basic, now I've got to piddle around with iMovie. I don't have time to do that, time is not a luxury I have at work.
So somebody please tell me how to get rid of this crap, and go back to the great Tiger OS. Cheers

Almost without fail, those who seem to have the most trouble with a new OS are those who install over their existing OS instead of erasing the drive and starting from scratch.
I disagree with this very broad statement, at least as it applies to Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard installer has very little in common with the installers for previous OS versions. For one thing, it never just upgrades selected OS files so the "over their existing OS" phrase doesn't apply in any relevant way. For another, the Snow Leopard installer is designed to install by default only what is needed, based on what is on the target volume, instead of all the extra junk the old installers always did. It even uses the existing OS's network settings to 'phone home' to update its list of incompatible software before installing anything, runs the equivalent of Disk Utility's verify disk check before writing anything to the drive, & more.
Everybody out there has to rewrite their software to either behave properly as 32-bit software it already was, or rewrite it to 64-bit.
Nonsense. I've got lots of old software that hasn't seen any development in years, & it runs perfectly well with Snow Leopard. What doesn't is mostly software that bypasses Apple's recommended API's in favor of some proprietary approach, system level stuff like peripheral drivers that typically have to be rewritten for every major OS upgrade (including for Windows), & just plain badly written software.
I just installed the CS5 Design Premium Suite and realized I can't use any of the the third party plugins I heavily rely on unless I force Photoshop to run in 32-bit mode.
Question: Is Photoshop actually running any slower in 32 bit mode on Snow Leopard than it did on Leopard?
It's been said often in many forums, but here it is again. If you rely on your computer for a living, why on Earth are you jumping right into a new OS without testing it first?
This much I agree with 100%, & even extend it to casual users who just want the smoothest transition possible. That said, it was a much smoother transition for me going from 10.5 to 10.6 than from 10.4 to 10.5 & my Intel Macs are quite noticeably faster running Snow Leopard than Leopard.

  • I would like to uninstall the latest update and revert back to the most recent version

I've seen several posts asking how to uninstall a recent update with a reason for wanting to do this and not one of them actually answers the question. I have an add-on that I really have grown fond of that is not compatible with the latest update and simply want to know how to go back to the previous version of firefox.

Question here, not an answer so leaving with a unresolved issue.
I strongly want to Un-install Update 27.0 and revert all things back to 26.? Just tell me if I can do this without loosing all my settings and starting over????. 27.0 is not playing nice with a MAJOR website I have no control over nor can I share it online.. The kicker, don't laugh I'm using XP updated to the max. A straight answer please,I've spent hours crawling through answers and questions.
Add me to the List of numerous people who want to un-install a Update.
Thanks in Advance for the answer. 02-12-2014

  • How do i uninstall lightroom 4.4 and get back to 4.3?

I certainly made a mistake trying 4.4.  I did a few things in 4.4 am not sure where the problem started, but i made numerous changes in photoshop (always updating the metadata) and things seemed fine.  Then i created a new file in photoshop and did an import, but since i had a flash drive plugged in, LR imported from that.  Where those photos went in LR, I don't know.  Was the catalog actually updated, I don't know.  I removed the flash drive and synchronized folders.  From that point on, i had problems with metadata.  I have been very careful uploading and downloading the metadata properly when linking to photoshop and creating new files from an original opened from lightroom.  However, now in LR, metadata seems to be a problem.  My filter 'unsaved metadata' had 20-30 files, and i know they were ok.  I saved them anyway (maybe not a good idea).  Interesting thing, LR keeps showing those files with unsaved metadata, even after I save them.  It's like LR 4.4 isn't saving metadata.  I absolutely know there is a problem because of an original dng file that i didn't touch showed as unsaved metadata.
At this point, I'm going to have to revert to my last catalog backup prior to installing 4.4.  Then i want to deinstall 4.4 and reinstall 4.3.  I'm a bit unclear how to do this.  I'll save my settings and previews and backup catalogs, but with all the downloading these days, I'm not sure I have LR dvds.

Findings to date:  first, thanks to everyone for suggestions.  I chose a less drastic approach than deinstall, and still have 4.4.  Reviewing the responses, I suddenly remembered that I had a similar problem in 4.3, but only one time. And I confirmed this problem in 4.4.  I can't give you a scenario for how it happened, or why it happens to some images and not others.  It's not a security problem, though that was a good idea to check out.  My solution in 4.3 was simply to delete the photos (didn't really need them)!  What happens is that when I click on the down arrow on an image to write metadata to file, the down arrow does not go away, so it seems that the metadata is not updated.  However, when I look at the properties in Windows Explore for that image, it shows the date updated as the date that I hit the arrow, so the metadata, I believe, IS being updated.  If this is true, then it is simply some error in 4.4 (and existed in 4.3) as to how LR updates its own arrow.  Here's another interesting thing.  I tried 'edit in photoshop' and making a change, just to see what happens.  Well, that REALLY resulting in some strange behavior SOME TIMES, but not all times.  Some times, when i made a slight change in PS, saved, and returned to LR, the active link between LR and PS served to update the metadata flag.  However on some occasions a new image was created, and I did this a number of times.  It would have a name something like the original image name with "_edit-1", _"edit-2", etc.  Before I noticed what was going on, I just saw the unsaved metadata flag, and edited one of those copies in PS, and would come back to LR with another new image and an increased name, such as "_edit-4", etc.
So, rather than uninstalling, I carefully reviewed most of my images in the catalog to determine the extent of the damage, and these peculiarities affected far fewer images than I had thought.  I updated the metadata when notified, and most of them worked.
However, I will say that I am quite certain that I had not changed some of these images in order to get that metadata out of sync indicator.  A few of the images that showed the metadata out of sync were complete original dng images that I KNOW I did nothing to so I'm quite sure this was a mistake on LR's part, but I can't prove it because I know that other software affects metadata, including Bridge which I try to stay out of.  These particular images, and they were few in number, simply would not update the tag when i clicked the indicator.  Anyway, I suggest folks really check out the metadata functions, but like I said, I believe this problem exists in 4.3, also, but why only a small subset of images, I don't know.

  • I wish to uninstall firefox 6 update and go back to my original version so that my Norton toolbar will work. How do I do this?

I need the Norton toolbar, which was available until a few minutes ago when the latest update came in for firefox. Anyway, I would like the toolbar enabled or the means to undo the update. Help

The policy of totally ending support of the previous version seems incredibly unfriendly to users -- to the extent that this policy is likely to drive many long time users (like me) to other browsers. Although I can understand that EVENTUALLY support for very older versions cannot be justified; however, when a new version causes multiple and severe disruption incidents of web browsing, there really should be some way to revert back a version or two or three. As soon as I updated to version 6 a few days ago, I suddenly began experiencing "hangs" (freezes) on several web sites. The FireFox policy seems to be that everything else in the world needs to be "upgraded" to be compatible with FireFox's newest version. Well, sorry ... I dislike being forced to expend countless hours trying to "upgrade" not only add-ons but other software and perhaps hardware too ... because suddenly so much is incompatible to the newest FireFox! I had a long list of incompatible add-ons that will not work with the newest FireFox and not a single one had an update that would resolve the situation. Yet FireFox's published comments seem to deny that the problem is in their newest version -- FireFox is okay, everything else has a problem. Well, the simple solution to that is to junk FireFox and use a different browser!
