Uninstall safari private launch

Hi, all-
I migrated user account from late 2008 MBP 10.6.8 to late 2014 MBP 10.9.5.
10.6.8 used a "do this when" script to run SafariPrivateLaunch.app when Safari is launched.
In 10.9.5, the migrated script produces an error dialog (assistive services not allowed) which lurks behind other windows.
Safari launches and functions fine, but does switch to private mode.
The error dialog has option to edit the script. This option opens the script in TextWrangler.
I did Spotlight search to find SafariPrivateLaunch.app - no hits
Please advise how to update the script for 10.9.x, and/or how to find the script and app to uninstall.
Meanwhile I assigned shortcut Shift Cmd P to toggle private mode or I can use the menu.
This works as long as I remember to do it.
-B

Any help appreciated. Error dialog offers button to edit which leads to the script pasted below.  So questions remain:
1.  Where is the script stored on the local drive?  If I could find it, I could delete it.
and/or
2. Can anyone suggest edits to the script which would defeat the dialog box and allow it to run?  Goal is for Safari to launch in private mode or to switch into private mode right after launch.
thanks!  Here's the script for SafariPrivateLaunch:
activate application "Safari"
tell application "System Events"
  tell process "Safari"
click menu item "Private Browsing…" of menu 1 of menu bar item "Safari" of menu bar 1
if exists button "OK" of window 1 then
click button "OK" of window 1
  end if
  end tell
end tell

  • After Safari Beta Uninstall, No Apps Launch

So, I decided to uninstall Safari 3 Beta as it was taking up way too much memory (i'm currently trying to find out why my system in general uses too much memory), and after downloading and running the uninstaller, my computer restarted as normal. Except now, no applications will launch. Everything in the dock bounces once and stops. Any apps I open from the desktop appear in the dock for a half second and then dissappear. I booted from the grey discs that come with the system (MacBook) and repaired the permissions and the disk. All I can think of is a clean install...any ideas?

    Hi
When repairing permissions, it's best to use Disk Utility from your start up volume (HD) rather than the Installer Disk that came with your system, as the Install Disk will be a version of OS X different than 10.4.10. Go to the Utilities folder>Disk Utility and repair the permissions again.
While there, after permissions are repaired, same panel, select "verify disk" on the opposite side. Do any errors appear?

How much memory does your machine have? If not sure, go to the Apple Menu>About this Mac and select it. The panel that appears shows the amount of memory. When you say "too much memory", on what are you basing your observation?

  • Can't open or uninstall Safari 5

I downloaded Safari a while back when offered along with an update notice for iTunes which I use for my iPod but never really used Safari. I rececntly bought an iPhone and wanted to use Safari on my PC.
I could not open it: got this error message: Safari Entry Point not Found - the procedure entry point CFPropertyListCreateWithData could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreFoundation.dll.
So I thought I would uninstall Safari and reinstall but got the following error message: Could Not Open Key - HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\Webkit.CFDictionaryPropertyBag\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnal.
Any suggestions on how to get Safari up and running? I'm only ata basic level technically.

The launch error looks like you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support dll. But the way I go about fixing that involves an uninstall of both AAS and Safari. So we'd better try fixing that Key error first (even if it's unrelated to the apparently-AAS-related launch error).
We'd better have a look at the permissions on the Key.
In your Start menu, click "Run", type regedit and hit enter.
    Expand HKEYLOCALMACHINE
    Expand Software
    Expand Classes
    Expand Webkit.CFDictionaryPropertyBag
Right-click on CLSID. What permissions are currently showing for your user account name, the administrators group, and the SYSTEM account?
(Not sure what precisely you're supposed to see in there because I don't have that particular key in my registry.)

  • Can't Uninstall Safari To Update "Network Resouce Unavailble"

When I try to uninstall Safari 3.0 for windows i get this..
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again or enter and alternate path to a folder that contains the installation package Safari.MSI in the box below"
    Thank You

+"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.+
+Click OK to try again or enter and alternate path to a folder that contains the installation package Safari.MSI in the box below"+
More common to see a missing .msi message with an iTunes, QuickTime, or Apple Software Update install or uninstall. But it's known to happen with Safari for Windows, too.
    Try the following procedure.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Launch the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install CleanUp"), and find any Safari entries in the list of programs that appears in CleanUp. Select the Safari entries and click remove.
Next let's manually clear away any leftover Safari program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the Safari folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Restart your computer.
Now try another Safari Install. Does it go through properly this time?

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Instead of trying to uninstall Safari, you didn't mention any trouble shooting you may have tried. Try these tips and see if it makes a difference.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
*Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.*
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
If Safari still crashes, go to the Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.
If nothing above helps, download and install the 10.4.11 combo update available here.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html
Make sure the start up disk has enough free disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
Check the startup disk for errors that might need repairing.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart

  • Uninstall Safari 4.1 and go back to 4.0

I think I need some help , I want to uninstall Safari 4.1 and install Safari 4.0.

You could try another method of reverting to an older version
of Safari, short of an 'archive & install + update' of 10.4.11.
A second method involves using Pacifist utility from Charlessoft.
This would run adequately in Demo mode, for free, and work:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Some ideas on that, are among the topics in this page:
    http://appletoolbox.com/2010/07/troubleshooting-safari-5-0-eliminating-slowness- crashing-page-loading-problems-and-more/#downgrade
The details (versions involved) is different in the above page,
but the factors and methods would be similar to do the job.
I've reverted iTunes and a few other apps before, but some of
them need to have files or receipt/packages removed from a
    place they may be hiding in the system, for to install again;
but with an integrated browser such a Safari, that may be hard.
But not impossible. And, there is the Archive & Install (+ update)
method; to give you a new system folder. If you approach that
carefully, the new folder/system would retain your current info.
Since my primary browser is not Safari, I often upgrade it last
among others, since installing that restarts my computer(s)
often at a time when I am not needing to restart them, yet.
    {My Macs run for a month or more at a time; without shutdown.}
+What are the problems, exactly, you are having with Safari 4.1+
+and what have you tried to fix them, short of revert/remove it?+
If you have Safari set as the default browser, you can change it
and run with something else; maybe Camino, until you sort it out.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How do you uninstall safari 5.1 and go back to 5.05

How do you uninstall safari 5.1 and g back to safari 5.05

Rather than fiddle with the tar file, if it wasn't saved, or using Pacifist, simply DL and install the
Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. It'll wipe all Safari 5.1 components and install Safari 5.0.5.

  • When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings Safari Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is my ipad does not a Private Browsing switch

When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings>Safari>Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is, my ipad does not a Private Browsing switchat this location.

With iOS 7 on the iPad, you turn Private  Browsing on and off by tapping the URL field.  The screen that  opens up has your bookmarks on it.  In the bottom left corner is a hot button marked 'PRIVATE'.  Tap on the word 'PRIVATE' to turn private browsing on or off.  Yeah, there aren't any instructions anywhere that I can find to do this, and if you follow Yahoo's instructions, they don't work.  This doesn't happen with the previous Apple OS, and you can restore your iPad to the older OS.

  • How to uninstall Safari 4.0.3

I've been getting a lot of problems with the newly updated Safari... hanging pages (on facebook, onion and etc... all you get is a turning wheel, no crash windows, have to force quite and start again, the second time always works). And it also generating those .aspx files. And, on top of it, it is very slow. This has been the worst user experience I had with anything related to Mac...
I tried many suggestions I saw on this site... reset Safari included... nothing worked. I'd like to get rid of this version. Is there a good/right way to uninstall Safari?
    Thanks.

Safari 4.0.3 works fine on Tiger; I'm running it and I have no problems. The problems you have are system issues: things that should have been done on a regular basis and certainly before installing any new software, but haven't been, so that is where the problems lie. Here are some things you can do to help yourself:
    1. Quit Safari if it's running.
    2. Go to System Preferences > Network > TCP/IP and in the DNS Server window, enter these two servers instead of the ones from your ISP:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
click Apply Now, and quit System Preferences.
    3. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
    4. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Web Page Previews and delete the contents of that folder.
    5. If you want to +*completely disable*+ the Top Sites (and Cover Flow) feature, open Terminal and copy/paste this command:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSnapshotsUpdatePolicy -int 2
    6. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
    7. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
    8. Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete these files (if you have them):
    Downloads.plist
    History.plist
    Form Values
    LastSession.plist
    WebpageIcons.db
Then Repair Disk Permissions and restart Safari. That should improve your browsing speed and resolve your other issues.
