Uninstalling ACR 6.7

I have CS5.5 and Lightroom 4, today I noticed that any edits I made in Lightroom 4 did not flow to CS5.5 which had Raw 6.3. I saw that LR4 required ACR 6.6 so I downloaded the upgrade and now I get the "process 2012..." message, if I click on the option to revert to 2010, I lose all my LR edits. How can I uninstall the upgrade? I can't upgrade to CS6 because the uni that I go to only has CS5.5 and an upgrade will cause conflicts when I take my files to uni computers. Thanks ,

It is still not clear to me how you are processing LR4 images in CS5.5 and what the 'uni staff' are using. LR is a non-destructive editor (i.e. raw file is never touched). PS is a destructive editor and can only create a separate file copy (PSD, TIF, JPEG) with all changes.
Some points to consider:
1) PS CS5 and CS5.5 require ACR6.7 to use LR4's 'Edit In' function.
2) LR4 and LR4.1 RC releases have numerous bugs and issues. It is recommended that you use LR4.1 RC2 until LR4.1 final release is available.
3) ACR6.7 only allows "opening"of a LR4 PV2012 edited image in PS5/5.5 using LR4's 'Edit In.' You can NOT simply open the file using ACR6.7 and PS5/5.5. You can also use LR4's Export function to create a PSD or TIF file for processing in PS with all PV2012 edits applied.
4) Only PS CS6 and ACR7 will allow opening a LR4 PV2012 edited image on a system without LR4.
This is a simple case of Marketing 101. You do NOT add features in a new product (LR4) and then give them away for free in an exisiing product (CS5/5.5 & ACR6.7).
If I've missed the point of what you're trying to accomplish please let me know.

  • Uninstall ACR 8.6 Beta?

How Do I uninstall ACR 8.6 Beta from Photoshop CS6 to add final ACR 8.6?

The official way to uninstall ACR is to uninstall Photoshop or whatever Adobe product ACR came with.
If you have not been offered the non-beta ACR since the first of August when it was first available then there is something wrong with what is tracking the versions of things and an uninstaller would not necessarily help with that.   I mean, even if there was an uninstaller, you might uninstall ACR 8.6 RC and still not be offered any update and be stuck without any ACR.  So the ultimate solution is to reset things enough that the Adobe version database and processes to make everything work like it should, again.  I’m not sure exactly how to do this.  On way is to uninstall all Adobe products then run the CC Cleaner and then reinstall all Adobe products.
Without fixing the underlying issue, it might also should work to use the manual installers you can download from an Adobe HELPX page with direct links:

  • Is there a way to Uninstall ACR 5.5 and reinstall 5.4? Bridge doesn't recognize this version.

Hey there. Running Mac os x 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro...
I had to reinstall my whole CS4 Master Creative Suite because a couple of the programs went missing.
First step was uninstalling all the other programs and preferences through Adobe unistaller, then reinstalled and did all the updates. (Photoshop is 11.0.1 now).  All updates finished loading successfully except that it was having trouble with the camera raw 5.4 update. It would say it was installed but when I checked the version in photoshop it would say it is the 5.0.0.178 version. So I updated the camera raw to 5.5 (because I use a Nikon D5000).
5.5 plugin now works fine in Photoshop but in Bridge, the camera raw preferences is "greyed out" and I can't read any NEFs.
Don't know where to go from here. The plugins folder in the root Library shows one plugin in the cs4 folder and that is the 5.5.
When I try to install the 5.4 version again, it reads that it can't install because I am running a newer version.
Thanks for your help. Got some NEF editing to do and this is a major obstacle....
    Johnny G

Thanks Jeff. The full path is HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plugins/CS4. It was automatically installed.
Also, the programs went missing because my computer froze and when I rebooted, any programs that were running at the time were no where to be seen, in the apps folder, in spotlight, the trash, etc. It's a mystery to me and I was a IT tech for quite a few years until recent. (Perhaps aliens abducted my programs.) That's the best I could figure out. Even my Entourage went missing and I needed to reinstall this and import an archived folder of mail - lost the most recent email...
I bought this computer new a few months ago and have updated to 10.5.8 by the normal "software update" function.
Purging the folders did not work because Bridge still does not recognize that there is a camera raw plugin installed. The "camera raw preferences" still remains "greyed out" when you click on the Adobe Bridge CS4 tab in Bridge.
Also, when I go to the Adobe uninstaller, I'm not able to uncheck mark the box for the camera raw....
Perhaps there is a link to just the 5.4 plugin (standalone?) that I can exchange for the 5.5? The camera raw folder in Application Support/Adobe has all the latest camera preferences including the D5000 which just was updated in ACR. So maybe just making a switch? Or is that too old school?
Oh yes, created another user account, repaired permissions and any disk issues - yet, same problem.
    Thanks again!
    Johnny

  • Uninstalling ACR 5.7?

I've installed ACR 5.7 beta on Windows 7 x64 running Photoshop CS4 x64 with no problems.  I'll continue to test it but noticed there doesn't seem to be an uninstall option.  I'm not comfortable running beta software and will want to uninstall eventually.  Is there an uninstall option for ACR 5.7 beta?

    Mlaxy142 wrote:
    Hi Jim,
Thanks for the response.  I'm not worried about anything going wrong per se, but the popup message when you run 5.7 for the first time states that it will start 'nagging' after the end of May (?), which I'd like to avoid.  If the 5.7 RC cannot be uninstalled, to do this  I'll need to either upgrade to CS5 when it comes out or manually revert back to 5.6.  I would've thought that an uninstall routine for a piece of software that by definition is still being tested in not an unreasonable expectation.
If they have put an end date on the release candidate of ACR 5.7, then you can be confident that they will either have another release candidate or the final version available by that time.

  • How do uninstall ACR 8.1 RC to ACR 7.4?

I used ACR7.4 to reinstall by AAM, but it's fail.
    The fail code is U44M2P7.
How do uninstall CR8.1 RC to install CR7.4?
    Thank you.

You're most welcome, but I made an error in that post as I forgot that the location of the ACR plug-in has been switched in Lion and Mountain Lion from the Root Library to the User Library.  The screen shot I posted earlier shows Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  My bad.  Sorry.
Therefore, for your Mountain Lion 10.8.4 I should have indicated as follows:
Just remember you want the User Library (~/Library) which is normally hidden from you.  You do not want your Root Library.which is totally hidden from you so you cannot access it.
In your Mountain Lion you'll access that folder through the GO menu in the Finder, like this:
Methods to Temporarily Reveal the ~/Library Folder
Perhaps the easiest way to temporarily reveal the ~/Library folder is to open Finder. On the menu bar, at the top, select Go to reveal the drop-down menu and then hold down the Option key (marked ALT) and you will see the ~/Library folder appear. You may now select this ~/Library folder with your mouse or trackpad.
As soon as you release the Option key, the ~/Library folder will be hidden once more.
The following link takes you to an illustrated tutorial on accessing the User Library:
    http://mac.tutsplus.com/tutorials/productivity/how-to-reveal-your-library-folder-in-lion-o r-mountain-lion/
    My apologies for the confusion.

  • Olympus E-P1(ORF) RAWs Handling Error in  ACR 5.5. How do I uninstall?

RAW images (ORF) from the Olympus E-P1 appear to be processed correctly in ACR 5.5 but highlights are full of small magenta and black specs that are then transferred in to the final processed image. I've attached an image (its a crop of larger image) below as illustration of the problem.
Also, how do I uninstall ACR 5.5 now I've discovered it's not gonna do the job, yet? Cheers.

Can you please provide an example .ORF file that exhibits the issue? That
would help me to figure out what's going wrong. You can use YouSendIt.com

  • Updated ACR to 8.4 with latest OSX. Now ACR is missing from "Open with" menu in Bridg

Clearly from what I am reading online, there are all sorts of horrors resulting from this latest ACR upgrade.
Mine is that the option to open a file in ACR has disappeared from the right click menu in Bridge.
Raw Nef's still open in ACR by default, but I cannot open any other file type in ACR
Is there a way to uninstall ACR 8.4 and reinstall an older version?

There's a fix coming....  don't reinstall CS6 yet, although that would be hours of fun
I just received a replacement file to test for the camera raw plugin. This fixed the problem on my installation of CS6 that had updated to 8.4 and was not able to launch Camera Raw from Bridge, and also Bridge was not able to view or alter any Metadata.
There was no need to reinstall PS, just a direct replacement of the file. I don't know how Adobe will be supplying the fix, but as of now, I would not recommend updating to Camera Raw / DNG 8.4 if you are using CS6 until the new file is available.
thanks to Adobe for the quick fix.

  • Photoshop CS6 won´t recognize ACR after installing ACR 8.4 beta.

    Hi all,
just today Adobe has relaeased the new ACR 8.4 beta. As usual I downloaded it, installed it to my Photoshop CS6 (running on a 2010 iMac/ OS is 10.6.8), and to my surprise PS no longer was able to find ACR at all. In other words: I could no longer open any RAW file.
I cranked up time machine, replaced the PS folders with those stored via time machine from a few days ago, restarted the computer and tried again, but the result is the same: PS seems unable to find Camera RAW.
Does anybody have an idea where the problem might lie? Any help is appreciated!

    Hi there,
    Very sorry for the inconvenience.
Camera Raw 8.4 is no longer supported on OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). We first announced this back when Camera Raw 8.3 was released, here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/12/camera-8-3-for-photoshop-cc-and-photoshop- cs6-available-now.html
This notice was also posted at the top of the 8.4 RC download page on Labs, here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw8-4/
You can either upgrade your OS to OS X 10.7 or higher or uninstall ACR 8.4 and reinstall 8.3.

  • Pentax lens profile

I used to have a lens profile for my Pentax 10-17mm lens, but it's gone! All the Pentaxprofiles disapeaered, but I was given a link that got some back, but not the fisheye.Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

What has changed recently on your computer? Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw share a number of locations and functions - Raw cache, camera calibration profiles, lens profiles - so if you have uninstalled ACR in some unusually aggressive way, that might affect LR I suppose. However normally, this kind of thing is treated as user data AFAICT, and left alone. A reinstall of LR should have put back whatever needs to be there.
BTW, you do not have to match the camera body, only find a profile for the lens itself. As I understand it, the profile works the same, whatever body was used to generate it (apart from where the sensor format size is different, in which case - though this does not affect Pentax - a fullframe profile can be used with a crop sensor, but not vice versa). All Pentax profiles available (Q series or 645 aside) are going to be for APS-C crop, so any of them should work for you.
I use a K-5 and can see the 10-17 profile with Raw images, along with more than a screenful of others. I have not actively downloaded more than a couple of these, they have come from standard LR installation. These are simply structured text files; it is possible they may have been moved somehow but I don't see how. There are two locations monitored for these: one is a system (program data) location which is where the application installs or downloads them, and one in the user area where any you generate or edit as the user login, can be saved. The paths to these locations differ a little between various OS versions.
The Adobe supplied filename is: "PENTAX (smc PENTAX-DA 10-17mm F3.5-4.5 ED [IF] Fisheye zoom) - RAW.lcp" however there may be other profiles floating around in the community as well. This profile is looking for a Lens ID of "4 247".
Perhaps the lens profile is simply not being detected? There was a change made some time back by Pentax, from 2-byte to 3-byte lens ID code format (3rd byte zeroed I think) and this caused problems at the time with LR. You can manually browse to a lens and select "set default" to fix detection problems, assuming the list you see includes it. 10mm is right on the limit of what LR supports, apparently, and I believe there are difficulties any wider than that. Perhaps try with an image taken at a longer than 10mm focal length?

  • Why can't I open a .tiff file in ACR?

Hello I have a mac with os maverick, and photoshop cs6. I'm trying to do some HDR that I saw on you tube where I make a file a 32bit .tiff.  Then reopen it in ACR to finish processing it. When I "ctrl+click" on tiff image in mini bridge, then select open in adobe camera raw. Nothing happens. I have uninstalled the whole program and all. I've tried to go to raw preferences in bridge to change settings, if needed. But it then tells me that I need to open another program. Please help. It's very frustrating thanks

RK, I think the OP is talking about this feature
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/adobe-camera-raw-as-a-s mart-filter-in-photoshop-cc/
There is also an option in Preferences > File handling which I think was introduced with 14.2

  • ACR won't save files other than in original file folder.

This has just started.  All was fine until now.  I recently was working on several files in camera raw.  Went to save files but discovered that I am unable to save the image, no matter what file format I choose -- TIFF, PSD or JPG -- unless I put it in the original folder it came from.  For example, I would choose Save Image from ACR, then Save in New Location, then Select Folder, choose another file folder (say Desktop) and then it would try to save it but would tell me the file could not be created.  If I choose Save in Same Location, everything works fine.  I AM able to open the RAW file in Photoshop and Save it from there.  As I said this is happening all of a sudden.  I am working with Vista 64 bit and with Photoshop 64 bit.  I tried using the 32 bit program but the same thing happens.  Any suggestions or should I just completely uninstall and reinstall?  I have checked and have all the latest updates for both Photoshop and ACR.  Thanks.

    Hi Gingerdee1,
    Yes strange ....
-Do you have the right privelige to save at an other location..... >>privelige-user .... or..... >>folder-protection (read-only)... >> or network privelige changed
-Is that disc full maybe at that location....
-Do you try to save a file with illegal characters in the file name...
    -Working with other RAW-files.............
-Did you change any other situation....than before...

  • Bridge CC - Cannot Open Files following Uninstall of Previous Version

I recently updated to Creative Cloud (Windows 7). Today I unstalled CS6. Following the uninstall, I can no longer open a .psd, .ai or .indd file from Bridge CC. I receive an error from Windows that the CS5 version of Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign cannot be found (see example below). I can open the files directly from the CC application. I can also open .psd files from Mini Bridge.
RAW files (.cr2) open in ACR without problem.
I can open a .psd directly from Windows Explorer into Photoshop; the same with .ai files in Illustrator and .indd files in InDesign.
    I cleared my Bridge cache.

Because it is correctly programmed to follow your specific, express instructions you set as far as file associations.
As far as other applications of any of the suites, well…
Here's my boilerplate text in this regard:
Inconsistency between or among applications in the artificial "suites" should come as no surprise.
The "suite" concept is a fabrication of Adobe marketing and bean-counting types.  The engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one.

  • ACR problems with elements 11

I'm new to the forums so not quite sure how to begin, but here goes.
Recently bought and loaded PSE11.  Everything loaded fine except for Camera Raw.  No evidence that ACR ever loaded.  Went to update and it downloaded and updated to 7.4 (so it said), however when go to “help”, “about plug-ins” it’s not there (also when try to open a Nikon NEF from an old D200 it won’t even show in the files list). Uninstalled and reinstalled, updated raw again and still not there.  Here’s my system info from "help".

Actually, I can’t update raw in pse10 either…and the other odd thing is when I download and install DNG converter it seems to install just fine but then gives an error message when I attempt to run it.  Must be the AMD processor, I know there are some other photo programs that don’t run under AMD (Photoshop CS series included).  Really too bad…Elements 11 isn’t much good to me unless I can process NEFs from the D5100.  Guess I’m stuck with Nikon Capture (or View), making a 16 bit TIFF and loading that into pse11.  Kind of a clumsy work around.

  • How do I open muliple raw files in ACR hosted by Photoshop?

    Hi,
This one is annoying the hell out of me.  I used to highlight multiple raw files in Bridge and just press Enter (being the equivalent to File -> Open) and the images would all open together in one ACR interface with the filmstrip down the side.  Now, however, one file opens and if I hit cancel or done, the second image THEN opens, and so on and so forth.  If instead of pressing Enter I choose File -> Open in Camera Raw or I right-click and Open in Camera Raw, it works fine and does what I want (or if I click the aperture symbol on the toolbar at the top).  It's a minor annoyance I suppose but and annoyance nonetheless.
The worst part is that it worked fine until I uninstalled CS5.1.  I had CS5.1 no problem, then installed CS6/CC alongside it.  I got eveything working how I wanted in CS6/CC and then uninstalled CS5.1.  I may be wrong on the exact timing of the problem and therefore it may be a Red Herring, but it seems fairly close together when this started.
Notes:  There is no expansion bar on the left of ACR that is just hiding the filmstrip.  Which is consistant with the fact that the second image does in fact open after I close the first.  So they are clearly being treated as seperate open actions.  Also, in Bridge, Edit -> Preferences -> General: 'Double-click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge', ticked or unticked makes no difference.  Also in Photoshop, Edit - Preferences -> File Handling: 'Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for Supported Raw Files', ticked or unticked makes no difference.
I have also tried changing the above mentioned options, closing PS and Bridge so the preferences file is updates, changing them back to how I want and closing so the preferences file is updated and I get the same results.
I hope I've made it clear what the issue is, and any help would be much appreciated for what may seem a minor thing.
    Cheers

I don't have CC just CS6.  In Photoshop if I use open and select multiple raw file and click open Raw file open one at a time in ACR. One after the other.  If I use Adobe Bridge and select mutiple raw files and open with the default application ACR open with all raw file or double click. It also opens like that from CS6 mini brdge.  In any case the bridge must be running.
