Uninstalling Acrobat X if installer corrupted
I cannot uninstall (or reinstall) Acrobat X because i get an error message "This patch package could not be opened". I guess this is due t a corruption of the installer due to disk problems. Is there an uninstaller that I can use and/or instructions as how to manually remove Acrobat X ?
Dear Jeff,
THANK YOU ! The tool was exactly what I was looking for and it worked like charm !
I should have gone my-self to the donwloads ... but actually it is not referenced (or I did not see it) on the parent directory http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/ ...
By the way, sorry for being late (you answered very quickly) but actually I'm in Belgium and if you are in the US, it was daytime for you and very late in the night for me. So, I only saw your message when waking up today.
Cheers !
PS: I will post another question about how to copy the configuration of one installation to another on another computer. If you have an idea about that...

Acrobat XI Pro installation failed
MacBook Pro 13" Retina
OSX 10.8.5
3 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Used Akamai NetSession Interface.
Downloaded from Adobe website. After download, clicked on installer, entered serial number, quickly went through installing until right at the end: "THE INSTALLATION FAILED: Installer encountered an error that caused installation to fail. Contact manufacturer." Part of the message cut-off abruptly.
Then, it appeared that the installation did occur but when I opened the software the interface didn't look "smooth." Then almost immediately software update stated Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.04 was available for download, but computer wouldn't allow it to be installed citing error on initial problem. I uninstalled XI Pro and tried to download again from Adobe website but the window instantly opened for Akamai and said download complete. The same problem occured when I tried to install again, with the same error message.Thank you Anish.
The software now appears to be working for some reason, and even though Error 1301 appeared when trying to update to Acrobat 11.0.04, it shows that I am running 11.0.04. There is something going on in there but so far so good.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Acrobat Pro XI are installed on the same iMac with OS X 10.8.5. How do I safely uninstall only Acrobat Pro 9 without affecting Acrobat Pro XI?
When I first installed Acrobat Pro XI, I thought maybe I was suppose to leave Acrobat Pro 9 on my computer.
So now I have both Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Acrobat Pro 11 installed.
I see no benefit to having both installed. I want to uninstall only the Acrobat Pro 9 and not Acrobat Pro XI.
I am not sure that I can safely uninstall Acrobat Pro 9 without affecting the functioning and files for Acrobat Pro XI.
I started to uninstall Acrobat 9, but I stopped when I saw a warning in a little window.
I went to the "Acrobat Uninstaller.app" file in the "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro" folder and double clicked it.
The Acrobat folder for Acrobat XI Pro came up with the file "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app" selected
I manually selected the "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app" file in the "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro" folder.
When I clicked on "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app" for Acrobat 9 a window with a warning came up. So I stopped.
"Uninstall will remove files, folders, and preferences installed by Acrobat from your system.
There is no undo available. User data files and directories shared by other Adobe applications will not be removed."
Should I go ahead and click [Uninstall]?
I don't think it will delete my pdf files.
Will this affect my Acrobat XI operating &/or preferences? Will Acrobat XI still function correctly?
What do I have to do to safely have just Acrobat XI on my computer without Acrobat 9?
Thank you for any help.I am trying to uninstall, I tried to uninstall, but I got the following message when trying to uninstall: "Invalid Application. The application selected was not a valid Acrobat application for this uninstaller. Please rerun the uninstaller." Acrobat 9 installation suddenly stopped working
Can you help? -
Have Acrobat XI Std, installation of Acrobat XI Pro fails, version incompatibility
Running Windows 7 Pro on work Thinkpad.
Trial version of Acrobat XI Pro as of Dec 4, 2014 is 11.0.07
Licensed version of installed Acrobat XI Std is 11.0.09
Installer downloads, but when the splash panel displays and I press Next, I get the message that a more functional version is available and it bails.
Obvious why the error occurred. Makes me wonder if Pro features are hidden inside Std, the way IBM used to take the DP Manager out to lunch while the CE flipped a switch for more MIPS upgrade. ;-)
I simply want to check out the multi-media features before committing to upgrade.
Will try using another computer, thought you would like to know about the problem.Sadly you cannot run Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro at the same time. The message is rather the wrong way round but basically a hint in the right direction.
You would need to uninstall Acrobat Standard. Be sure you have EVERYTHING you need to reinstall including disks and serial numbers before considering this! -
Problems Uninstalling Acrobat 9 pro ...
I was wondering if anyone else was having problems uninstalling Acrobat 9 Pro. I run an IT department and have tried everything that can think of to get the thing uninstalled. Nothing's working, it continuously comes up with errors saying that it can't uninstall, that there is already a newer version of Acrobat installed, or some other random errors. The computer is an "extra"computer, and the cd key for Acrobat 9 Pro is now installed on another machine. All I want to do is take Acrobat 9 off and reinstall Acrobat 8.
Any suggestions?Deactivate before uninstalling (unless this is a volume license). Then use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool.

Cannot view PDF files with Reader once we uninstall Acrobat X Professional
Our office recently installed Acrobat X Professional on all of our computers. One of our groups uses Adobe Reader to view documents in a medical records system. The documents are imported into the system via an interface that converts them to PDFs. Before the installation of Acrobat X, the documents were viewable with Adobe Reader. We were told that the medical record system is not compatible with Acrobat X, but it is with Acrobat 9. After we uninstall Acrobat X, the documents are still not viewable with Adobe Reader. We were told to unistall all Adobe products, but we are unable to uninstall the Reader. We are running Window XP Professional SP3. Is there a way to completing uninstall Reader? Or do you have any other suggestions?
Here's my problem, running 10.7.3 and Safari.
I installed the 10.1.3 and have been running in 64 mode. If when viewing a PDF I choose File>Save As... I get a dialog saying "Export as... and upon trying to do so I get an error message that it can't export.
If, however, I choose the little floppy icon in the popup at the bottom I get a "Save a copy as..." and everything works as expected.
If I delete the Adobe plugins as specified in earlier posts, I get the Preview view of PDFs in Safari and Save As works normally.
I tend to like Adobe's viewer because it defaults to a bigger view, otherwise it's apples/oranges, er adobes.

Uninstalling Acrobat reader 8.12
Hi, I am trying to install Acrobat Pro 9 and need to uninstall previous programs.
I can't uninstall Acrobat reader 8.12 as it says the source is unavailable. Any ideas how I can get rid of it?
Thanks
gollThanks Bill
I installed Reader 8.2 which was on this site hoping it would pick up all the bits and uninstall together but no luck, I still get the same error message.
It can't find AdbeRd812_en_US.msi
Adobe rang this morning to tell me to try the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility but it won't install on Vista. -
When I try to upgrade or uninstall acrobat 9.2 I receive the following error: "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it." I've trolled around different postings and not found anything particularly useful. Can anyone suggest how I can manually uninstall acrobat? My OS is Vista Business.
thanks.sorry, I meant "update"
It all started when the automatic updater failed with an update a few weeks ago. I ignored it for a while, but the update manager kept bugging me to update and I got tired of the repeated attempts to update and subsequent failure. I tried to update manually to no avail. Since then I have tried to uninstall using the windows uninstaller and received the message I posted earlier. I figured it would be easiest to reinstall, but I'm stuck. -
Problem uninstalling Acrobat 9
I had a long expired trial version of Acrobat 9 on my computer. I may have inadvertently deleted the installer recently, and have run into propblems. Every time I try to open any file on my computer, Windows Installer wants to run the installer, but it can't find it, because a file called Acropro.msi is not available. I tried to uninstall Acrobat 9, but I got a message saying that it cannot be removed. When I realized the problem was likely due to having deleted the installer, I thought that, if I installed a trial version of Acrobat 10, it would include uninstallation of the old program. That didn't work either, because Windows installer again is looking for AcroPro.msi to complete the task.
So, I now have a downloaded trial version of Acrobat 10 that won't install, and an old trial version of Acrobat 9 that won't uninstall, as well as a very annoying dialogue box that opens every time I try to open a file.
Help. please! That probably won't go away without heavy surgery on the Windows registry. You'd have to manually delete acouple of keys like the relevant Adobe keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and other such places as well as the file type handlers in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT branch. Other than that the simple solution would be to reinstall Acrobat 9, then uninstall it...

Acrobat Professional 11 Installation
Looking for information on how to install Acrobat Professional 11 on a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal server which already has Acrobat Professional 8.1 and Acrobat Reader 9.1.2 installed ???
So you want to install multiple versions of Acrobat on Windows. You want to deal in software installation VooDoo, and the installation "Dark Arts"! Be warned doing something like this can backfire on you in terrible ways.
http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/properties.html?highlight=rem ove_previous
Installation
10.0 & later
REMOVE_PREVIOUS
Specifies whether to removes an already installed product. The property can only uninstall a previous version of the product when that same product is being installed. For example, REMOVE_PREVIOUS=YES during an Acrobat install will only uninstall previous Acrobat versions. It will not affect any version of Reader that is present. This property can be used during both Acrobat and Reader installs. The default is YES. -
The Acrobat PDF Maker Add-in for Office got disabled and I can't seem to re-enable it. I've tried the suggestions in http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401734&sliceId=2 except for uninstalling Acrobat. I can't uninstall it because when I go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs Acrobat isn't listed there. When I run the Acrobat installer it doesn't give me an option to uninstall, and I can't find an uninstaller.
Any ideas on how to remove Acrobat?
Windows XP SP3
Office 2007
Acrobat Pro 9.4.4Thanks for the link!
I took a look and read the following:
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
So, to make sure I undersand the process:
--- I use this windows utility to remove the installation files form my PC
--- What next? Will I need to reinstall the Acrobat Pro Trial edition just to immediately run the uninstall?
Even if this is the correct process, I'm not sure this will work because the trial version is limited to a 30 day period that already expired on my computer. So I doubt I would be able to reinstall it. I suspect I would get an error saying that I now have to purchase the official version.
Thanks again for your help with this. -
I am so confused. I have CS 5.5 Design Standard running on a Windows 7 computer. I have the serial number. The problem is, I stupidly uninstalled Acrobat Pro and now need to reinstall it. What do I do? I downloaded Acrobat Pro X from the download link on the Adobe site but it won't take my serial number. I am guessing because the serial number pertains to the entire Creative Suite, not just Acrobat.
Please help. Thanks!Correct. You need to use the full suite installer.

Trying to uninstall Acrobat 7 on Mac running OS 10.4
I am doing an uninstall and then a reinstall on all my Adobe Creative Suite products and I cannot uninstall Acrobat 7. The message says "The application selected was not a valid Acrobat 7.0 application for this uninstaller. Please rerun the uninstaller." Rerunning doesn't work either. I am running OS 10.4. How do I get it uninstalled? Thanks.

Look and see on Adobe website support software downloads if there is an updated un installer.
If there is dowload and run it. If none try the following:
If not do a find file From find and type Acrobat. each of the items that shows in find file click on and drag to Trash.
Repeat the find file procedure until nothing shows up.
Do not remove any pdf's created.
Now see if you can re install.
At one point during the Acrobat 7 series they went to a complete install of a Brand new package (I believe 7.5) So you would have a Directory listed as 7.0 and then one as 7.5.
If so you may have to run uninstall on both versions.
