Uninstalling addin removes the "Excel" entry in the registry

I have VSTO addin and on uninstall, in registry HKLM->Wow6432->Software->Microsoft->office->excel->addin, both excel and addin is removed from the registry. Because of this the other addins also get destroyed. How to fix this?
Registry entries are mentioned below. The properties of everything is "DeleteAtUninstall" is set to false and transitive to true and MyAddin properties are is set to "DeleteAtUninstall" to true. But even then, the "Excel" entry
only is removed. How to make this work?

Hi Roopini,
I guess that you use Click-Once. If that is the case, please ask in ClickOnce and Setup & Deployment Projects forum.

  • Uninstall or remove the exsisting  SID's

    hiiiiiiiii
i have had a existing SID's. hw do i remove it
i deleted a the oracle unzipped file and at the home directory i deleted a couple of files but couldn't delete all the files, because its saying the file is open when everything is closed
so hw do i remove the remove the existing SID's.

it says this file cannot be completed (deletion)
becsuse this file is open in another programIf you have a file open using a program, you can not delete it. Remember that Notepad, Wordpad and Windows Exploder are also programs that could cause this to occur.
If you have already deleted most things, especially the ORACLE_HOME/bin, then it is probably something in Windows, not Oracle holding it open. Try going into 'safe mode' to attempt the deletion - assuming there is such a thing in whichever version of Vista you are using.

  • I uninstalled firefox, removed all traces of firefox "directories, registry entries" then installed v5 AND I get sqlite3.ddl is missing from your computer. Does firefox use sqlite3.ddl and js3250.dll?

I used v4 with no problems, upgraded to v5 and dll problems began. I installed an older version of firefox and noticed sqlite3.dll was part of the install. Ran the upgrade and the upgrade process removed sqlite3.dll.
I tried saving the sqlite3.dll from the v3 firefox install and placed it in the window/system32 folder. Firefox then reports an invalid entry point into sqlite3.dll and js3250.dll

You can't do that. Such files are for a specific Firefox version.
You need to do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • How do I permanently REMOVE the Face Recognition program in Windows 8.1?

I want to Uninstall, permanently REMOVE, the Face Recognition program from Windows 8.1.  When I select this program from the list of all programs displayed, I am not given an "uninstall" option, only the option to "change", which
then begins to install.  I was able to uninstall once before, but somehow the program was placed back onto my computer and now the "uninstall" option is no longer available.  Thanks!

    Hello DePaix,
    What is your current situation?
Have you tried the solution as MVP Cyber_Defend_Team mentioned?
Do this program preinstalled? If yes, we need to contact the manufacturer to receive better support.
If my understanding is right, you uninstalled it once, but the program was back and only the option to ‘change’.
Could you please provide us a screenshot to avoid misunderstanding if you willing to?
Can you run the program? If the program runs in the startup, we could use the tool System Configuration (msconfig) to disable apps or services that normally run at startup.
For more information, please take a look at the following article about using system configuration.

  • How to remove the installed JDeveloper Update causing error

    Hello there,
I install some webcenter available updates this morning...after restarting the JDeveloper11gR1 I am experiening error.
Can someone tell me how to remove the newly installed update so that I do not experience this errors again?

As the last resort you can rename the systemxx.x.x.x.x. folder and restart jdev again. When you are asked if you like to migrate, answer no as the error is likely to be migrated too.
If this does not help you can uninstall jdev, remove the whole installation folder and reinstall jdev.

Most of the software have an uninstall string.where we can use to uninstall the software using command line.
you can use below mentioned free tool to find uninstall string from the registry.
    https://finduninstallstring.codeplex.com
once you find the uninstall string you can use logon or startup script to uninstall software

  • Vbscript RegRead function not behaving consistently and/or returning correct values when they exist in the registry

    Hello.
I seem to be having a problem using the RegRead function within vbscript to return a simple value from the registry. When I run it on my workstation (windows 7 x64 sp1), it seems to miss certain registry values that are indeed there (specifically, I am looking
for instances of "Adobe" in the displayName value of HKLM\Software\wow6432node\microsoft\windows\uninstall). However, when I run on a test VM, it returns the values fine. I am hoping someone might be able to explain this inconsistency and why it
    is happening.
    The code is very simple:
    On Error Resume Next
    if wscript.arguments.count < 1 then
    wscript.echo "usage: regread.vbs <hostname> <appname>"
    wscript.quit
    end if
    AppName = wscript.arguments(1)
    strComputer = wscript.arguments(0)
    const HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE = &H80000002
    Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    Set objReg=GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!//"& strComputer & "/root/default:StdRegProv")
    strKeyPath = "SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall"
    objReg.EnumKey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, strKeyPath, arrSubKeys
    For Each subkey In arrSubKeys
    'wscript.echo subkey
    InstalledAppName = ""
    InstalledAppName = WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\" & strKeyPath & "\" & subkey & "\DisplayName")
    wscript.echo vbtab&"DisplayName: "&InstalledAppName
    if instr(InstalledAppName,AppName) > 0 then
    wscript.echo vbcrlf&"found"&vbcrlf
    end if
    Next
When I run "cscript regread.vbs remoteHost Adobe" on my local machine, it does not "find" any instance of Adobe within the registry of machine "remoteHost". However, when I run it from a test VM, it does find the existing instances
of Adobe within the DisplayName value of the uninstall key of the registry, here is the output from both, first the non-working one, then the working test VM.

Does anyone know why this might be happening? The only main difference is that the machine that the script does not work on, has visual studio 2013 installed.
    Please help

Well I think we can agree that it is not supported remotely. Because while it did initially work remotely, it didnt behave consistently; that is, it worked on the VM, but not my desktop. That's the whole reason I created this thread. Sorry if you are confused,
but I most certainly was not lying and not trying to troll the forum or whatever it is you are insuinuating. Chill out a little bit and maybe you might get that Microsoft MVP.
I am trying to get you t understand why what you are saying is wrong.  You may have thought it worked but there were a number of things that make it impossible to actually work.
You were enumerating a remote key.  You were using that key name with RegRead and it was looking up the local value.  That is why it could not find remote keys and values.  The local and remote machines will not match on all keys.
The correct call is the "GetStringValue" of the registry provider because it is the only call that can read remote values. My point is that you were fooling yourself by thinking that it ever actually worked.  If anything it was just dumb luck
    that the keys would match.
So maybe you weren't actually lying but you were surely foolingyourself and confusing us.
Anyway - glad you fixed it and just remember to not mix calls like you did.  Also don't use On Error Resume Next unless you plan on test every call for an error.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i'm getting this warning, but i dont know where is it located.please let me know, where should i rectify this?
WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].

    Hello,
This seems not related to SQL Server but more related to Fusion or a missing DLL. The following resources may help you:
    http://blog.mediawhole.com/2010/08/enable-fusion-assembly-binding-logging.html
    http://jamesecampbell.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-to-enable-assembly-binding-logging.html

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5986930/assembly-binding-logging-is-turned-off
Please verify if a missing DLL is specified before the "WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF" message.
    Hope this helps.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?

  • How does one completely remove the Contribute add-in from Excel?

This problem is driving me "buggy":
Contribute CS5 installed its add-in toolbar in Excel (2010) on my Win7 (b4-bit) machine. I don't need or want it. Since it was listed as a COM add-in, I "removed" it using File>Options>Add-Ins>Manage COM Add-ins. It was removed from the list of installed add-ins (confirmed by a restart, i.e., no item, no check box), but it was not removed from Excel's Add-Ins list.
I did some searching and found several fora in which it was suggested that renaming the files OfficePlugin.dll and OfficePluginRes.dll would solve the issue. I did, it did not.
More searches yielded a suggestion to deinstall Contribute, which I did. That did not work either. Now I have neither Contribute nor its Excel toolbar components installed, yet its "carcass" remains "perched" on Excel's Add-Ins list like a dead parrot pining for the fjords...
I searched this and other Adobe fora before posting this message, but I was unable to locate this exact issue.
Has anyone encountered this and solved the issue?
    Thanks in advance!

ADOBE SUCKS! - Why can't they make it simple for users to uninstall a plug-in that most users don't want or need, and simply find annoying.  This is a complete nuisance.  Does anyone at Adobe even care????  I'm fed up and pissed off and wish someone in their company would fix it.
    - pissed off.

  • Restrict Standard User from not removing the COM-Addins registered under HKLM with Admin rights.

    Hello,
I have developed a COM-Addin for word 2013 by VS 2013 and installed it under the HKLM with Admin rights. Now from an non-admin account, ie Standard User I'm able to uncheck that addin from the COM-Addins dialog and remove it also. Previously I have done the
same thing for word 2007 addins and if a non-admin user tries to uncheck it the warning "The
connected state of Office Add-ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed" pops
up. But this is not happening for office 2013 apps(basically word, excel and powerpoint).
This is happening for all Add-Ins installed under HKLM.
How can a Standard User be restricted from unchecking and removing the Office Addins registered under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE with same warning "The
connected state of Office Add-ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed" in
    a pop-up box?
    Regards, Sayan

    Hi,
The behavior is changed since Office 2010. Office 2010 and Office 2013 allows a standard user to turn a per-machine add-in off by unchecking the add-in in the COM Add-ins dialog.
To restrict Standard User from not removing the COM Add-ins, we can try to add the add-in to
the Group Policy option: List of managed add-ins in the Office Group Policy template.
Word for example, the policy is under:
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Word 2013\Miscellaneous
To enable this policy setting, provide the following information for each add-in:
In "Value name", specify the programmatic identifier (ProgID) for COM add-ins, or specify the file name of Word add-ins.
To obtain the ProgID for an add-in, use Registry Editor on the client computer where the add-in is installed to locate key names under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins.
To obtain the file name of an add-in, click the File menu in the application where the add-in is installed. Click Options, click Add-ins, and then use the Location column to determine the file name of the add-in.
In "Value," specify the value as follows:
To specify that an add-in is always enabled, type 1.
    Hope this helps.
