Uninstalling and re-installing LR 4.1

I am running Lion on a MacBook Pro. I just drag LR4.1 to trash to delete and have to re-install but how do I make sure my catalog/files/pics can be reconfigured correctly?
The reason I am comtemplating this is because my MAP, WEB and BOOK modules cannot be opened and locks LR compltely forcing me to quit and reopen LR. I get an error message.
If I wait for LR4.2 to be released shortly and install that, should that fix my issues with these errant modules?

Yes you can just drag the app to the trash without any eefct on catalogs.
Lr 4.2 is now out.

- I've used Firefox exclusively for around 2 years.
- My outlook express has no problems
- other programs seem unaffected; it seems peculiar to Firefox.
- my main use is surfing the net, primarily entering competitions on line via specialist competition sites.
- every day at some stage(s) I have to switch computer off as Firefox has got very slow/sticky/freezes.
I'm not techy by any means, but I can only thing of un- and re-installing to hopefully start with a clean slate.

Without proper system information and other details like what files you work with nobody can tell you much. From corrupted prefs to issues with your PS swap file to actual problems with the fiel storage this could be anything.

HT201363 I am receiving an authentication request at launch on my desktop. I am unable to satisfy the password and then it freezes. Uninstalled and re-installed yesterday and have same issue. I think it is a podcast feed, but cannot delete

I am locked out of my Itunes. When I launch on the desktop I receive an authentication request from www.podshow.com that I cannot satisfy with password. Actually i don't ever remember giving them a password. When I cannot satisfy the password it locks up my screen. When I went to the website listed I could not satisfy the password to even get onto the site. I am pretty sure it is a feed, how can I delete it and get back into my itunes? How do you uninstall and re-install on the same computer and keep all of your 'stuff'?

My TBird has gotten a little wonky and despite the best efforts of your support forum, it appears it is gonna stay 'wonky'.
Therefore, I would like to uninstall and re-install it and see if that solves the problem, but, of course, I would like to somehow export my messages/folders and address books.
I used an add-on called IMPORTEXPORTTOOLS to export my folders It gives you various options though and I didn't know the best one to choose.
Also, I couldn't figure out how to export my address book. I exported all of this to an Email product called CLAWS (which I can't even get to work...lol). However, if worse comes to worse, I can perhaps import them from the CLAWS client.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

ImportExportTools is good for saving/backup of your mail. For what you want, probably the zipped folders would be the easiest. You can export your address book(s) to a file (use LDIF; it's much easier to import later).
However, these are only pieces of the profile. With TB NOT running, you can copy your entire profile to another location/medium just by doing a file copy. Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile I copy mine to a USB memory.
When you uninstall and reinstall TB, you will not be changing your profile! So if you want a really clean start, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles to create a new/clean profile. Don't delete your old one; you may need parts of it.
If things are still 'wonky' after a new start, let me know.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
Start with the section Install missing components which should address your particular error. Otherwise the steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

Is that an error 2 message?
If so, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?

My iPhone used to work in iTunes but quit working. I checked my USB portal and it works with other devices. I also uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. I added updates to my phone and re-booted it. I am not sure what else to do. My iPhone also locked in vertical position and no longer goes to horizontal.

Problems before and after Uninstall and re-install CS4

I went ahead and uninstalled and re-installed CS4 because of freeze ups and other difficulties. Program After Effects is now crashing - see attachment. There is also a problem with an importer plugin (I think) may be related. I can't tell. I have not tried any other projects. I did however, disconnect the Matrox MX02 Mini, but still had problems. The MX02 is now re-connected.
I wonder if installing CS4 on top of CS3 is an issue? I remember having a similar problem goiing from CS2 to CS3. I had to downloader a cleaning utility from Adobe (I think) to remove every bit of CS2 and then run CCleaner.
It's my own fault - trying to upgrade software and hardware at the same time. It's hard to isolate. For now, I'l just have to do with Premiere since it is working. But, I'd sure like to know what's going on.

Did you re-install all other Adobe products as well? If not, then that may be the problem. Uninstalling/ reinstalling only one of them messes with MediaCore and certain otehr functions. The quick fix is to download the manuala (!) update packages for After Effects, Premiere Pro/Encore and Adobe Media Encoder from the support pages and run them. This usually bends things in place. If not, then you will probably have to uninstall again, this time including every Adobe app, use the CS4 Clean Script and reinstall.

Probably should've searched around a bit more. Just saw a similar forum post to my own in which redownloading and burning solved another user's similar issue. As of now I've redownloaded the 64-bit ISO, burned it, and so far so good (at 72% extracting files). I will repost here if it was a success in hopes that other users with a similar issue find this and benefit from it. Hope I didn't just waste anyone's time with a question that had already been answered (haha)

I keep getting this error everytime I turn n my laptop. I have uninstalled and re-installed Adobe AIR several times and still keep getting this error after it tells me it has been installed successfully. "This installation of this application is damage.
