Uninstalling and reinstalling final cut pro x 10.0.9

Hello all Can anyone tell me how to Uninstall and reinstall final cut pro x 10.0.9. Can I redownload final cut pro x I bought it on line. Also I'm running  Lion.
My problelm with FCX it hangs after a few clicks. I have cleared preferences but no avail.  Help please.
Can not update to Maverick.

Hopefully, you can fix before having to uninstall. If you so the only way you can get 10.0.9 is to install Mountain Lion (10.8.))
Does it hang with all projects?
How did you trash preferences? Use this app if you didn't earlier.

how can I reinstall Final Cut Pro 10.0.6, this action may correct my issues

Thanks, I have found this on the "APPLE" support site; Final Cut Pro X: How to remove and reinstall Final Cut Pro X on; http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5149, which after reading through increased my trepidation ! Your directions are frightingly concise but Just what I needed..

  • HT5149 Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found. Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard

Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps.
Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard drive at a Mac Authorized Repair.
Short history of repair and my Final Cut Pro installation:
    1. Macbook Pro stopped working, sendt it for repair. Had the Final Cut Pro installed,
    2. Desided to try a MiniMac and recovered my backup with Time Machine, got the Final Cut Pro working.
    3. Got my Macbook Pro back from repair, did backup on this one as well. But this time only the files not the Applications.
    4. Removed the files as mentioned in HT5149. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found.
    5. When I try to install Final Cut Pro from App Store, it downloads the application as planned. But after download it won´t show in the Application folder nor in the downloads folder, nor will it start an installation prosess. If I pause the installation in App Store, I can see the Final Cut Pro icon in my Dock. (But, as mentioned, after installation it won´t show neither here or in the Applications folder).
Any suggestions on what I should try now?
Thanks for any reply, I´m in deep water here...

Sounds like there is a file you're not getting.  Never do a removal manually.  It's so time consuming and a pain.  There's a very easy and fast way to do this, safely, properly.
Get the free "Final Cut Remover" app from Digital Rebellion (dot com), use this to remove FCP X.
    Reboot the Mac.
    Download from scratch.
If you're not seeing FCP X in your app folder, run Disk Utility to Repair all drives.
If that doesn't help, try running Disk Warrior from Altsoft to repair the directories on all drives.

  • Reinstalling Final Cut Pro

Final Cut Pro has been causing me problems. I suspect that it might be due to a corrupted file, as when I trashed the preferences it was still giving me trouble. So I have decided to reinstall final cut pro.
I reinstalled Final Cut Pro once before about a year ago due to a different problem, but the installation CDs prompted me to reinstall all of Final Cut Studio which takes about 3 hours.
So I have two questions related to that. Is it possible to just erase and reinstall only final cut pro without having to reinstall the entire studio? And my second questions is, since a corrupted file might be the problem that is causing Final Cut Pro to act buggy, would it be wiser anyway to reinstall the entire studio since all of the programs in Final Cut Studio seem to share files in common?
    Thanks.

Also note that a clean install will most always provide the best results. A "clean install" includes backing up all data on your boot drive, then reformatting it, then re-installing the OS, followed by the applications and updates.

  • Cannot reinstall final cut pro x free trial version

According to the Apple web you can reinstall Final Cut Pro X free trial. Following instructyions I removed all final cut files. It did not work. I then used "ProMaintenance" to make sure all files are deleted. Same unsuccessful result: Unable to install it the second time. I get 2 options: "Buy" or "Quit". Any help appreciated. ty

or, do you want on an Apple hosted site like this advice to circumvent DRM of Apple Products??!
to bypass the 30-day-limit is simply illegal. whatever 'the web' says ....

    AH...good.
There is no limit on the times you can install it from the DVDs. There's just a limit as to being able to run it on multiple machines AT THE SAME TIME. If your old computer dies, or you sell it (please reformat the drive so they don't get FCP for free), then you can install on a new computer fine.  And you are allowed to install on (1) desktop and (1) laptop at the same time as well...but only use it on one machine at any given time. Meaning you can use it on the desktop at work, and then when away from the office, on your laptop.
Long story short...you can install it fine without any issues.

can I download and use final cut pro 7 on new mac pro tower?,or I must work with the new final cut pro x only?

Disclaimer: This response assumes that a "new mac pro tower" is the new cylindrical model.
    1. You cannot download Final Cut Pro 7. FCP7 is part of Final Cut Studio (2009) a.k.a "FCS3" and it was only released on a DVD set. It can still be purchased online (maybe even from Apple) for prices ranging from a few hundred to $1K and it is 5 years old and unsupported.
    2. Although there are reports of systems running FCS3 on Mavericks, there are also a host of problems associated with this OS/software combination.
    3. A new version of iMovie Pro Final Cut Pro X has been released which is reportedly very fast and is supported.
It's all a matter of what kind of movies you make...

  • Need Uninstall Advice for Final Cut Pro 5.0

Ok, so I recently upgraded to Final Cut Pro 5.0 from 4.5 HD. My computer is a G4 dual 450 mhz and is relatively stock (Rage 128 AGP card) with a few upgrades to the ram and hard drives. Unfortunately I failed to read the "Before you install Final Cut Pro 5.0" file and didn't realize I need a Quarts Extreme AGP card to run FCP 5.0. I can't afford to buy one right now, so I want to downgrade back to 4.5 HD. Is there an easy way to do this? I tried deleting all the FCP files and reinstalling 4.5 but it tells me to try again due to an error. Is there a file I'm forgetting to delete, or an easy way to uninstall 5.0, or a way to use 5.0 with the Rage 128 AGP card? Thanks
    -Julian

A search of the FCP forum for AGP yields many results for this ... among them is: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2339613&#2339613
Do the hack and you should be running fine with FCP 5

  • Frequently asked to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro

This is becoming an aggravating issue with me.  I don't mind uninstalling and reinstalling, but to go through all the updates is time consuming.  I have yet to find anything from Adobe that addresses this.  Perhaps I missed something/  Thank you in advance for any help.

Thank you for the quick response, Bill@VT.
I open Acrobat 9 Pro and an error screen appears on top of the gray portion of Acrobat workspace  that says to the effect that " the program will no longer start.  You must uninstall and reinstall the program". I did not capture the error message, but it had no number."  What I was doing right before that was trying to load a .pdf to Acrobat.
I am running Win XP Pro sp3.  This has been an on-going problem for the past year, maybe a little more.   It has happened several times since January of this year.  It does not correspond with any new programs I have installed, unless some auto update from HP or Windows Update is triggering it.  Basically, nothing has changed on this system since I first installed the program in 2008, other than hard drive upgrades and program updates.  None of which have taken place within a month or two of when the program fails to start.
When it happens again, I will be sure to capture the screenshot of the error message.  It takes a couple of hours to reinstall all the updates to get to the final 9.5.
It is difficult to recall exactly what I was doing before this happens in past incidents.  Today, an hour or two before, I had downloaded a .pdf of a meeting agenda from a trusted site (a city government website...if that can be considered "trusted"!!).  I hadn't opened any strange emails, but had just used Elements 11 to edit some photos that I saved to a file.  I use AVG anti-virus and also scan with Malwarebytes once a week or so.  There doesn't seem to be a pattern to this error.
As for the Acrobat 9 Pro updates, long ago I bookmarked the link you shared.  I download them fresh from the site even though I have copies in a folder.
For the record, I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 installed along with an older version of it, both work flawlessly.

  • Got a second hand G4, wiped it, having trouble reinstalling final cut pro

my mom and i are working on a second hand G4 with superdrive. we wiped it, reinstalled the basics (3 disc boot series), and moved on to install OS X. everything seemed cool. then i put in the final cut pro disc (we have both 2 and 3 discs for 'upgrades' but i started with the basic one). i put it in, i start to install, it loads almost the entire way and then it gives me an error of 'MDB (or MBD?) was not written. Continue?' i have no idea what i'm doing wrong. i said continue, then once it finishes, i try to open it and nada. does this have to do with Quicktime? it's just a guess but i really don't know what's up. the main reason i got the mac is so i could make slideshows for my family in final cut. help?

Sorry so long in responding to your comments. I have FCP 1 CD with 2 and 3 upgrade CD's. After installing FCP 1 a comment box requests MacOSx.1.1 update. Downloaded it from Apple website - won't let me install it. I get to select a destination - then it wont' allow me to pick one. Becca and I did not get this error last week, when we started this.

  • My wife has a G4 and wants Final Cut Pro

My wife has a G$ and would like to put Final Cut Pro on the machine. Is it possible and what would she need to do?

She won't be able to use the latest version of FCP; that's for Macs with Intel processors only. She'll need to find out what her G4's specs are and find a used version of FCP that will work with those specs. Offhand, I'd say she'll probably be good with FCP 4.5 or maybe even 5.0. But it all depends on matching the G4's specs with the requirements of the FCP version. Keep in mind that older versions of FCP will not work with many of the newer video formats.
