Uninstalling Applications Problem (Adobe)

Hello,
I'm still sort of an Apple newb, but I'm an experienced computer user in general (*nix/windows).
I got Adobe CS5 and just installed it right on top of my CS4. As a result, I get an error when I start Illustrator, Photoshop or Dreamweaver (Flash, After Effects, Lightroom, Acrobat etc. work fine).
I didn't know how to uninstall applications, so I msged a friend who gave me a superficial 'lol' and told me that the solution is to simply drag them to the trash. I did that with all my Adobe files (except Acrobat as it installs separately) and emptied the trash.
My second attempt at installing CS5 did not install all the applications. Actually, it only installed 3 or 4 out of the 14 that come in CS5.
What do I do? Is there an automated uninstaller I can get someplace? At this point I don't care very much about losing my application settings.
I would prefer finding a solution wherein the process is automated and I don't have to dig through random /users/, /library/ or whathaveyou.
Is there an uninstaller someplace, 'cause I can't locate it.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies, but I figured it out:
The Adobe Suite Removal Tool can be downloaded from the Adobe website.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/829/cpsid_82947.html
After I fully removed CS3, CS4 and CS5 (apparently, I had remnants of all three, lol), I was able to fresh install CS5.
This time it works spectacularly and doesn't complain about anything! (:

I had the same problem on my N82 and i solved it by doing a soft reset.
Soft reset. In standby dial *#7370# and the phone's lock code (Nokia's default lock code is 12345). Warning!Soft reset deletes all your phone's data, so backup your stuff before you do a soft reset!
    You could try it.

  • Problems with Uninstalling Applications

    Hello,
I am a noob to both this forum and Apple products, so my apologies if I am in the wrong place. I am having a weird issue when trying to uninstall applications from my Macbook Air. I can go to the apps section and hold down the touchpad until the icons start to wiggle and have the "x" in the top corner, but the weird part is that it ONLY has the "x" for the built in Mac software and not for the after market software that I have installed. If I try to uninstall any of the built in software, it won't let me do that either (which is expected). Any assistance in the matter would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

Just to finish Linc's though, other applications (and even those you buy from the App store) can be dragged from the Application window to the trash can.

  • Uninstall and Reinstall Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro registration failed

I have uninstalled and reinstall Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro on my new machine. My new machine runs Mac OS X 10.9.5. Every time I try to click on Help > Registration it returns an error message 'Registration Unsuccessful" "A problem was encountered while trying to send information over the Internet".  I have no issue with Internet connection. Just wondering why this is happening and is there any way we can register this application.

    Hi Ksb2009,
This version of Acrobat was never tested on this version of Mac and is unsupported.
I would suggest you may upgrade to latest version of Acrobat and that will work fine. It has loads of new and enhanced features than Acrobat 8.

  • Windows Xp Cannot Uninstall or Install Adobe Air.

I installed a new application that when I booted it It displayed the "This application requires Adobe air wich cannot be found" error. I already have adobe air, so I tried installing the latest version of air (didn't work), then after that I tried unstalling air but got the "This application requires Adobe air wich cannot be found" error again. I even tried manually uninstalling it and then reinstalling it but to no avail.
If any body could help with my promblem it would be much apreciated.

Please share the exact error message which you are getting while running the application? My guess is an appropriate Adobe AIR version is required for running this application. You can use the documentation http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/troubleshoot-air-installation-windows.html and use the check the determine the version  of Adobe AIR on your computer.

  • How do I uninstall applications with a MacBook Pro?

Hai, I need help finding out how to uninstall applications with a MacBook Pro?
-I just got this computer 5-6 days ago and I hardly know anything about it. (AS expected from a new user to a Mac computer. ) Everything is kind of confusing to me especially with unziping and ziping files.
-I have researched trying to find out ways to uninstall with a Mac but everyone seems to have a different way to uninstall. And I really don't want to do something to mess up my new computer while trying to find out how to uninstall applications. (These computers are "expensive" and are non-returnable.)
If anyone can answer my question that would be so great and I would surely appreciate you!
    Thank you, CreeSuki.
OH, and if needed I am running on operating system "Lion" (Rawrrrr). And I am trying to uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 in general.
    Thank you!

The basic way to uninstall an app is just trash it.  But to get (most, sometimes all) of its associated data files, for example, preferences (usually .plist files in ~/Library/Preferences -- ~ is your home directory) you either have to know what to look for or try to use one of the 3rd party generic uninstallers.  Here's a (partial?) list of potential uninstallers:
    Amnesia
    AppCleaner
    AppDelete
    AppZapper
    CleanApp
    iTrash
    TrahsMe
Go to www.macupdate.com and search for them.
Note, there is no guarantee these uninstallers will find all the potential stuff an app can install but even if it misses stuff no harm is done other than wasting a little disk space.
Oh, almost forgot.  Many apps that come with their own installers sometimes provide their own uninstallers to uninstall themselves.  Use those if they are provided instead of one of the generic uninstallers.

That crash appears to be casued by the Facebook plug-in.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

I have installed Adobe Lightroom CC.  In the process of launching, a popup appears, that says:  "AN INTERNAL ERROR HAS OCCURRED.  Cannot create the required folder:  /Users/(my user name)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets."  So even though Lightroom CC is installed, it will not launch.  What do I need to do to allow it to launch?

The problem was solved today.  Here's the full story.  I'm a Mac user.  At first I installed Lightroom CC on my iMac (desktop).  I had this problem so I called Adobe, and was referred to a "special unit" .  After about an hour the tech solved it for me ... we did a screen sharing and she took control of my computer for a loooong time.  Because of language difficulties, at first I wondered if she knew what she was doing but she eventually solved it.  Although she couldn't explain exactly what she was doing, she summarized it by saying "it was a permissions problem."  I asked if I would have the same issue later when I installed it on my laptop (Macbook Air).  She said probably not.
But I did.  The same internal error popup arose on launch and launch did not complete on my laptop.  I tried chat but no joy so I eventually called Apple Care.  I had noticed that on my laptop (and the iMac for that matter), that there was no Library folder after my user name.  The Apple tech explained that the Library folder is actually there but it is hidden because it's very easy for users to do some very nasty things to their computer by going astray while in the Library folder.  The folder is actually there, but they hide it.  I did remember seeing that the tech helping me with my iMac had typed the work "Library" while she was controlling my computer.  Basically she had activated the hidden Library folder so she could open the path that Lightroom was trying to follow to create that "Develop Presets" folder.  For some reason, the inability to create that folder in the launch process was preventing launch from being completed.  The Apple tech said she didn't actually have to do that and activated the Library folder by use of the Go selection on the menu bar.  Anyway, once that complete path was replicated and opened, the next step was to go to the Lightroom Permissions field and add my user name to the user categories already there and enable "read and write" permissions to my user name.  Once done, I shut down my laptop, and then rebooted.  I launched Lightroom and then boom, voila, heavens to betsy, etc. it launched and suddenly a dismal weekend turned into a great one.
I am not a geek, so I hope this makes some sense.  I also hope Lightroom launches again tomorrow and beyond!

  • Cannot uninstall or reinstall Adobe Air on XP - tried everything

I cannot uninstall or reinstall Adobe Air and now Pandora is not working. If I click the Air installer it says Air is already installed but the Pandora app says I need to install Air. If I look in add/remove programs it is not listed. I have tried the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and the Microsoft Fix it but Air does not show up in them either. I am running XP SP3.              Thanks, Lance

Regarding error 1606 - have a look at this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549/.
If you still cannot uninstall Adobe Reader, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove it.  (But I recently heard of problems when using the cleanup tool if Office 2007 is installed.)
After removing Adobe Reader, download http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi, save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.

  • 5.0.2   Faulting Application Path   (Adobe Peeps?)

I posted this another thread but it was passed over with other things so I thought I would give it it's own thread.
I just updated to 5.0.2 and the installer finished and said installed correctly.
I then started Premiere and loaded an HDV project.  When the media was loading Premiere crashed and a message from Windows popped up saying that it will try and fix the issue along with some other things I don't remember.  Windows said to restart the program and when I did it seemed to load the HDV project correctly.
I checked the windows  crash log and the description for the Premiere crash was a "faulting  application path"  It came with a problem signature with this underneath  it:

  • Install error on Mac "could not create ~/library/application support/adobe/coresync"

Any reason why this would be happening and what I should do?

I'm getting this same error after trying to install on my mac pro.
I see that the cloud installer was able to create the ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe folder and a bunch of folders in side that, but it complains

I ran into this, then uninstalled everything, and nuked the ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe folder completely and started over.

    I'm stuck.
