Uninstalling Corrupt Software Update Patch

Hi,
I was checking for the method to uninstall any software update patch in case need be. I came across one of the switch to use with the task sequence as below to uninstall any specific patch from systems :
C:\Windows\System32\wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2781197 /quiet /norestart
where KB number is any patch which we would like to remove. The task sequence gave up the below error in TSAGENT.log but execmgr.log is clean without any errors :

I tried creating a package just to check if that works, however several users have reported that task sequence is the only method that works but as that was not working in my case, so tried the package with a batch file using the same script as mentioned
above but that came up with the below error :
EnterRsRuningState failed to run script PatchRemoval.bat 0x87d01106
If i try to run the same script using the CMD prompt manually on client machine, it successfully removes the patch silently.
Not sure why this is not working as a task sequence.

I am just wondering if i have used the command right (i believe i have), because one of the errors says
On another system where this patch was already installed, there were not eventviewer logs generated for today. There were old logs and one of them was as below :
Windows update  could not be installed because of error 2147942487 "The parameter is incorrect." (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe"  uninstall KB2914218 quiet norestart ")
Any idea about the below ? What does this mean ?
Failed to delete registry value HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Task Sequence\Package. Error
code 0x80070002
If there are no defined answers to this, i think the last resort will be to open a case with Microsoft.

    Downgrading can be done using Archive and Install:
    How to Perform an Archive and Install
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
    Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

    Recently installed the new Xerox software update that was released on May 2, 2013.  Apparently this update does not work for some Xerox models and causes the user to no longer be able to print to Xerox.  Is there anyway to UNinstall a software update? 

    No. The only way to remove a software update is to restore the backup taken prior to the update.

  • My mac will not start due to a corrupted software update.

    My mac will not boot into mountain lion OS which I think is due to a failed or corrupted software update.. I can access the recovery menu but I cant reinstall OS over the Internet. I have also tried to repair the disk but will not let me and foolishly I haven't backed up my mac up through time machine. I'm wondering if anyone can help as I don't really want to loose pictures, music and documents.

    If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
    There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup) or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”

    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.

    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • I can't uninstall Apple Software Update.

    In trying to uninstall ITunes, I was given a checklist from Apple Support to uninstall certain programs in a specific order. I need to reinstall ITunes, and they said that I needed to remove it first. I am running a Windows 7, 64 bit HP laptop. No program is removing this and it very specifically says to not remove them out of order.
    Below are the instructions sent to me. (I tried to copy and paste. However, it doesn't look good, so I will include the link that Apple sent to me.)

    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.     Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
    If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
    which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases. Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)

    When trying to upgrace iTunes on my Windows 7, 32-bit machine, I receive the following error message: “There is a problem with the Windows Installer package. A program required for this install could not be run.” I tried uninstalling all appple products (in the correct order), but the Apple software updater won't uninstall; when trying ot uninstall it I get the same message I get when trying ot upgrade iTunes.     Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

    Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

  • I need to Uninstall Apple Software Update. I am getting error. "There is a problem with this Windows Installed package.

    My itunes stopped working. I uninstalled/reinstalled. But it would not complete reinstall. Started with Quicktime not loading. I have tried to install Quicktime individually. Still nothing. I now am trying to uninstall ALL itunes/Apple to attempt reinstall. But the Apple Software Update will not remove. I get the error :THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS WINDOWS INSTALLER PACKAGE.   • Corrupt Software Updates and Downloads

    Sorry if there is already an answer floating around for this, but I have not been able to find it.
    Whenever I try to download and install updates from Software Update, during the installation process I get an error message saying that all of the downloaded updates are corrupted. Sometimes after downloading updates for Logic and iLife 10 to 15 times, the update will finally install, but the combined update to 10.6.4 never installs and the same thing also applies to iPhone updates via iTunes and occasionally a rar, zip, or dmg file. Is there an fix for this? Thanks in advance!

    iPhone software updates through iTunes always give me an error that says they are corrupted, and occasionally a dmg or rar file will be corrupted (like 1 in 10), but apps and music downloaded through iTunes always download fine.

  • Mac wont shut down, restart or sleep - corrupted software update?

    My Mac Pro (2007 - OSX 10.6.7) will no longer shut down, restart or sleep. When I try to shut down, it logs me out of my user account, shows the light blue screen, momentarily shows the Leopard space background screen, before showing the blue screen again, and finally returning to the login screen prompting for my user/password.
    The only way to poweroff from this point is to hold down the power switch until it forces a power down. This issue has been present for the last two weeks or so ever since I did a Software Update containing a security update. Initially it just failed to perform that update, although after a few days it did do the update, seemingly by fluke. After that, the problem persisted and now there is a new update (Fonts) which again fails to update.
    I have tried all of the following:
    Power off Mac, unplug power and leave for a few seconds
    Power on Mac holding down Ctr + Opt + R + P (resetting PRAM etc)
    Boot up from install CD and perform Disk repair (it did find problems with the disk and repaired them)
    Check and repair permissions
    Delete Software Update related plists & caches from ~/Library and /Library
    Still the problem persists. Examining the logs shows me this:

    I'm at my wits end now. I've always been very proud that in ~4 years of Mac ownership I've never had to reinstall OSX - something I used to do on an anual basis with Windows. My next step probably is a full reinstall, but I really do consider it a drastic step and a last resort.

    As a followup, upon the advice from someone else I created another user account (non admin) and logged in as that user. From that account I could successfully power down.
    I'm still convinced the issue is related to Software Update as examining the logs showed none of the Software Update related entries as above:

  • Unable to install iTunes 5.0, cannot uninstall apple software updater

    I am trying to update iTunes from ver 10.3.3 to 15.5.1.4 with no luck!! I can d/l the file, wneh it goes to install it through the update tool, I get an error saying the resource is unavailable, i have searched my entire hard drive for the file "applesoftwareupdate.msi" and its not here. Trying to remove it will not work either due to missing file. I have tried to manually remove the software tool with no luck. I am using windows xp. Is there anything i can do before i go through the grueling task of doing a full windows recovery?? Thanks for your time.

    Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
    Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
    After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
    If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove".
    Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How do I uninstall a software update of iPhoto 9.3.1 on OS 10.6.8?

    I had a internal HD crash, so Apple replaced with a new one.  I installed OS 10.6 from my install disks. 
    I installed the Applications from my original disks and did the Software Updates.
    I went to Apple site to find out more about what iPhoto version to use, and i downloaded what I thought was
    correct Update.  By mistake I started downloading the iPhoto 9.3.1 pkg. file which is still in my downloads folder.
       Now  my iPhoto Library Manager shows one of my iPhoto Library's is version 9.3.2.  This consequently gives an error message when I try to Launch iPhoto v.9.2.3 from there in which to open this Library.
    I am using iPhoto Library Manager and Iphoto 9.2.3 to fix two huge libraries that were conceived before the HD crash and from an older mac mini G4 using Leopard 10.5.8. I have them on external HDs.

    Yes, installing Nokia Software Updater (NSU) can be a headache. What PC Suite do you use? I believe Nseries PC Suite has NSU listed as a separate component in Add/Remove Programs.
    I found that reinstalling the Suite makes it possible to update NSU.
