Uninstalling CS5 Trial causes CS4 problems

I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 trial and had to do repair installations of Photoshop CS4 and Acrobat 9. But Bridge CS4 is still missing.
I don't want to mess up anything else so what should I do?

Very odd though - even though I deleted all the folders, in the Documents folder and in the Program Files,  when I reinstalled CS3 (after uninstalling and rebooting) - I went to the File>Place and choose the .rtf file I usually import and it had still retained the Mapping of the Styles.
There was no RTF Import folder in the Documents, and I had completely erased the original CS3 folder in the Program files.
So where else is data stored for InDesign? If it's not the Document>Application Data folder or the Program files folder?

  • Uninstalling CS5 trial has been a nightmare!

I uninstalled the trial of CS5 and CS4 as the full version of CS5 is arriving soon.
(I had a trial of CS4 for a project I needed it for while waiting for CS5 to arrive, the project is done and printed, I needed GREP styles badly).
When I did the uninstall of both CS4 and CS5 THEN I couldn't reassociate the InDesign File Type to InDesign CS3.
I went to Tools>Folder Options and I manually inserted it and a weird Icon was used for InDesign files.
But InDesign was working fine, except that when I went to update an Illustrator file, Illustrator kept running out of memory, I couldn't save any changes to the file. So I used a colleagues computer to update the file, so the file is fine it's not damaged.
With CS5 and CS4 uninstalled I decided I'd uninstall CS3 and reinstall it. Then the reinstall came up with missing payloads and it references CS4 folders and msu and .msi (sorry I didn't get a screen shot) and when I launched indesign CS3 it tells me that Javascript is missing and to install it.
So I then went into the C:\Program Files\Adobe\InDesign Cs3 and sure enough in the Required folder there was two of them
    Required
    Required (2)
So I copied all the files from Required (2) into Required and removed the (2) from the end of the folder names.
InDesign CS3 booted up fine. But now there is no Option to export to RTF.
But now I can't save anything from Illustrator. And I've reinstalled it and everything but it just won't work. It keeps going out of memory.
"The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [CANT]"
Which is flipping hilarious in midst of me having a stroke I still found time to laugh at this error.
    Summary
So what to do? The trial for Cs4 is going to run out. But the files want to open up in CS4 from Explorer. They won't reassociate to InDesign CS3 (in fact they want to reassociate to CS2 which isn't even installed anymore). The RTF option for exporting is gone. Illustrator won't save any files because it "CANT".

  • Want to uninstall CS6 trial, but CS4 is gone

I was opening some old photos when I got a message that said I had to download an update.  Photoshop would not open without this update.  I fugured it was some security thing or other and now find that it has upgraded me to a CS6 trial.  I don't want it and will NEVER pay a monthly rental for something installed on my hard drive, but it seems to have overwritten the CS4 I had installed.
It's given me the option to uninstall the trial, but am I then going to have to reinstall CS4?

Every version of Photoshop has a different default install path.  You can have many version of Photoshop installed on a machine, Each Photoshop version is independent from the others versions of Photoshop.  If the CS6 installer overlaid your CS4 installed you must have change where  the CS6  installer installed CS6 and had it overlay CS4.
No CS4 update would update CS4 to CS6 and a CS6 Upgrade would leave CS4 intact.

  • Uninstall of Flash causing major problems

    Hello -
I had Flash 8 on my computer, and back when CS3 came out I purchased the full suite and installed that.  Yesterday (years later, now) I was cleaning up installs on my computer to free space.  I used Control Panel to remove Flash 8 from my PC...
Now Flash CS3 still launches and works, but I cannot get .swf files to launch on their own at all.  When I double-click them to open them, I get the message:
The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.  Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.
I've googled to figure out what that means or how to do it, but I haven't found a decent reply that's been effective.  If I try to drag a .swf into a browser window (or just open it with a browser), it is also not recognized.  Oddly enough, I can view Flash files on web pages no problem (when browsing online)...
Some necessary components must have been removed when Flash 8 was installed.  I suppose I could try re-installing Flash CS3, but the problem with that is that I'm out of town on business for the next 10 days.  My Studio install discs are back at home, and I need to get work done this week!...
    Any ideas???  Thanks!...

try reinstalling / installing flash player at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Yeah - I tried that, but it didn't help.
or try Adobe Shock wave at http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download
Same thing - tried that also, and it didn't help.
and you could also try this is if all else fails:http://www.browsertools.net/SWF-Opener/
I just downloaded this upon your recommendation.  The .swf files open now, but they don't look anything like they're supposed to.  So, I'm not sure what the deal with this application is, but I think it may be buggy.  Like, for instance, the background of my .swf is all white, when it should be gray.  And the frame rate is all weird (not what it should be).  I'm sure the .swf is fine because if you preview the movie inside Flash it looks fine.
    Any other suggestions???

  • Install CS5 trial alongside licensed CS4?

Does anyone know if you can install the Photoshop CS5 trial alongside CS4? I have a licensed copy of CS4 but want to try out Photoshop CS5. I don't want to screw up my CS4 installation though.
Does the trial of CS5 happily co-exist with a licensed version of CS4?
    Thanks!

A licensed version of CS5 will also happily co-exist with a licensed version of  CS4

  • Cannot launch 2004mx apps after CS5 trial install

    Urgernt help please.
Running 10.5.8 and after recently downloading adobe cs5 suite can no longer launch my 2004mx apps. Uninstalled cs5 trial and now cannot reinstall 2004xmx as installer fails to launch.
    Suggestions greatly apprecaited

Since this is the Installation and Setup forum for Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard), it isn't a good place to post questions about issues with OS X 10.5 (Leopard) & third party applications.
I suggest you post to Adobe's support forums or check Adobe's FAQ's & such.

  • PDF Presets lost in CS4 after uninstalling Photoshop CS5 trial

Upon removal of the Photoshop CS5 trial, I lost all of my Save as Adobe PDF Presets (.joboptions) in the CS4 versions of Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign. I miss them... so much....

Add me to the list of those affected as well....  *sigh*
    Edited to add:
So I contacted a friend and he sent me a copy of his default presets.  These need to be installed in the Macintosh HD > Library > Applications Support > Adobe > Adobe PDF > Settings folder.

  • Performance problems after CS5 Trial install

I installed the CS5 Trial, performed updates to get everything current, and InDesign and Illustrator have slowed to a crawl. For example, click on a text block, shift-click to select a second block and wait 2-3 seconds. Or, single-click an object to select, wait a few seconds and it jumps to another place on the page.
Also, PDFs opened in Acrobat Professional 8 are being affected. Flipping through pages takes 10-ish seconds per page.
And last, when I go back to using CS3, I'm having similar problems there, which I didn't have before. Not quite as slow, but still a problem.
I have restarted many times, and also uninstalled CS5 and reinstalled.
    Has anyone experienced this? Suggestions?

  • Uninstalling CS5, installing CS4

I had a trial version of AiCS5, it was "2 days left" to the end of using it and I got a full Adobe pack CS4. I started up a disc and when making an installation I couldn't choose Ai (this wasn't lighted like other programs). So I uninstalled my trial version (and cleaned the trash bin) - that didn't help. After I restarted my mac, but nothing changed when trying to choose Ai. Maybe it's because the trial was CS5 and this one's CS4??
Now I have a project to finish and I don't have neither trial, nor CS4 Would be nice if someone had an idea about this.

    Use the Clean Script

  • FF 3.6 AND 5 on same Mac, 1 profile - can I uninstall 5 without causing problems running 3.6 or with the profile?

I upgraded from 3.6.16 to 5, but don't like how 5 handles tabs (auto reloading 'problem loading' tabs when internet connection is reestablished). So I installed 3.6 in a separate folder, e.g. both versions are on this computer. I went back to using 3.6, and let it upgrade to either 3.6.18 or 19 (don't recall which & it's not open right now). I'm having problems with it using too much CPU & Memory, and not sure if that's a difference between 3.6.16 & 3.6.18/19, or if having 5 on the same computer even if closed could be causing the problem.
Can I uninstall 5 without causing problems with the 3.6 version and the single profile?

If you haven't tried this, give it a try. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you. In your version 3 firefox, disable all extensions, I had two plugins (doubletwist and joost, disable those if you have them). Then install firefox 5 by overwriting your version 3 firefox. It should work fine after that. I tried everything before, I gave that a last ditch shot. Oh yeah, before you install firefox 5, clear your cache of everything just to be sure.
    Hopefully that helps.

  • Problems before and after Uninstall and re-install CS4

I went ahead and uninstalled and re-installed CS4 because of freeze ups and other difficulties. Program After Effects is now crashing - see attachment. There is also a problem with an importer plugin (I think) may be related. I can't tell. I have not tried any other projects. I did however, disconnect the Matrox MX02 Mini, but still had problems. The MX02 is now re-connected.
I wonder if installing CS4 on top of CS3 is an issue? I remember having a similar problem goiing from CS2 to CS3. I had to downloader a cleaning utility from Adobe (I think) to remove every bit of CS2 and then run CCleaner.
It's my own fault - trying to upgrade software and hardware at the same time. It's hard to isolate. For now, I'l just have to do with Premiere since it is working. But, I'd sure like to know what's going on.

Did you re-install all other Adobe products as well? If not, then that may be the problem. Uninstalling/ reinstalling only one of them messes with MediaCore and certain otehr functions. The quick fix is to download the manuala (!) update packages for After Effects, Premiere Pro/Encore and Adobe Media Encoder from the support pages and run them. This usually bends things in place. If not, then you will probably have to uninstall again, this time including every Adobe app, use the CS4 Clean Script and reinstall.

  • The upgrade to Firefox 4 is causing massive problems with my computer. How do I uninstall it and go back to using the previous version?

Firefox 4 is absolutely awful - it is causing massive problems with my computer. How do I uninstall Firefox 4 and go back to the previous version of Firefox?

According to the instructions given on the Norton Community forum under "Other Norton Products/Comcast-Customers - Norton Toolbar Problem in Firefox 10", I have done everything necessary. And I do have a Norton toolbar (Safe Web and Identity Safe) when I open Firefox 10. As was mentioned in the previous posts here, you need to run manual LiveUpdate then reboot until you have version 5.2.0.13. Then reboot and run manual LiveUpdate again and reboot once more. One thing that I noticed is that Norton never told me that it had updated the patch for Firefox 10, so I didn't know. I guess if you have the toolbar when you run Firefox 10, then you have done it all.

  • Problem starting Adobe After Effects CS5 Trial

    Hey there,
I have a huge problem starting AE5 Trial and well I looked around several Discussions about the problem without anything that'd help me.
I used to work with an older version of AE, borrowed by my filmbuddy, on my old desktop without any problem.
Now with my new laptop, I downloaded the CS5 Trial version and it hangs with initializing Mediacore. I'd really like to buy the new AE version, but well, if it doesn't work at trial level on my laptop, why should the full version work?
So when starting AE the startup screen appears it hangs with "initalizing MediaCore", so I have to click on that screen that something happens ... now the startup screen is dark colored and I have to wait for 10 min that something new is happening.
Now it says: "Warning: QuickTime is not installed on this system, some components will not work correctly. So I can press and AE actually starts, but I'm not able to import or export QuickTime movies. And btw. AE works pretty lame, don't know why (my OS is Windows Ultimate 7, 64 bit btw. ^^ )
So well I tried to deactivate my firewall, no change
I tried to delete the MediaCore plug-ins (program files - AE CS5 - Media Core plug-ins - common) one by one or all ... no change
I tried reinstalling QuickTIme and AE, different orders, still nothing happens
There may be several helpful Threads about this, but the problem is, its mostly specific to Mac and I can't find the equivalent way for Windows
    I'd appreciate any help
    Thanks for your kind attention

Yeah CS5.5 from the adobe website. At least I think so - my internet connection is to slow to download anything, so a friend got it for me
The point: permissions problem with preferences folder or corrupt preferences - I don't know why, but I don't have the AppData\Roaming path/folders
just worked through this discussion: blockage of TCP communication with QuickTIme - I don't quite get the point with the rule ... what steps do I have to follow in Windows Firewall? but well I deactivated it anyway and it still didn't work.
Aaand I don't find the preference files on windows ... user/...
gosh I want to work with this program error-free ^^

  • CS5 Trial uninstall vs. Elements 10 shared files

    Hello,
I am using Adobe PhotoShop Elements 10 and Adobe Premiere Elements 10 on my PC. I got the installation CD set as a bundle bonus from the camera reseller on purchase of my digital camera.
From previous time, I also have Adobe Creative Suite Trial Version 5 (CS5 Trial) on my PC.
Now, I want to uninstall Adobe CS5 Trial and keep both Elements only.
Can I uninstall the CS5 Trial without affecting the Elements installations? I am affraid of some shared files (fonts, libraries, etc.) which can be missing for Elements after uninstallation of CS5 Trial.
    Please let me know.
Thank you very much for your answer
    Marek
