Uninstalling CS5

Not to long ago I upgraded from CS5 to CS6 I need more space on my computer and was wondering if I can remove CS5? Would this mess up CS6 if I did this? I have a copy of CS5 at home but I upgraded CS6 online, so I have no idea where to find CS6 if I need to recover it. Should I just keep both of them on my computer?

Hello,
rcraighead thank you for getting back to me....Sorry I didn't add hat I was afraid if I uninstall CS5 that CS6 will be messed up and I would have no way to recover CS6 since i downloaded it online.
Do you think its better just to add space? I don't have the money right now for that, but I can do it in the future.
@Larry G. Schneider...Where would that folder be at? I know if I do decide to remove CS5 I need to deactivate it.

  • Trying to uninstall CS5.5 Master Collection, but programs don't appear in standard Windows Programs and Features location

I'm uninstalling CS5.5 after deactivation in order to gain space for CC, but am having problems doing so.  I'm on 64-bit Windows 7 and installed from the Master Collection disks on both my desktop and laptop - neither one has any of the Master Collection programs showing up in the standard uninstall location, which is the only recommended Adobe uninstall method.
If I run the original install disk, it recognises the existing CS5.5 programs, but only gives the option of installing further program options rather than uninstalling existing ones - is there any way to use the disks to uninstall programs?

Fixed it - used the disk to reinstall one of the existing CS5.5 apps, and then the Adobe Master Collection showed up as an item in the Programs and Features location, which I could select and uninstall all apps.

  • Do I need to uninstall CS5 before loading CS6?

Do I need to uninstall CS5 before loading CS6? I purchased the full version of CS6.

    Hi pamelakirkpatrick ,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
You dont need to uninstall existing version to install new version.
You might consider wiping the existing version if you no longer use it as storing multiple versions can occupy a lot of hard disk space.
    Please reply for any assistance.
    Thanks

  • Do I need to uninstall CS5 before installing Cloud Versions?

I'm a new cloud user and haven't downloaded the software yet.  Do I need to uninstall CS5 before downloading the cloud versions?

No need to uninstall unless you want to. Major versions can co-exist.

  • Uninstall CS5 since upgraded to CS5.5?

As a student I purchased Adobe Master Suite Collection CS5 with the option to upgrade to CS5.5 when it was released. I did upgrade to CS5.5 (yes, this was some time ago), but it left CS5 in my computer. I now have both CS5 and CS5.5 in my computer using up space. Is it possible to uninstall CS5? Or does the upgrade require CS5 to remain?

There is no technical requirement to leave older versions in place, just be aware that uninstalling it after the fact will damage your CS5.5 since it removes certain shared components. A reinstall of CS 5.5 will most definitely be required.

  • Can't uninstall CS5 or CS6.

    Hi,
I'm having a problem when I try to uninstall CS5 and CS6 suites on my iMac.
I installed CS5 suite like six months ago, then, two weeks ago I installed CS6, but before I uninstalled some components from the CS5 suite. Just remains Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
I installed CS6 and all good, then, I had some problems with Encore CS6 so I found a post that says that I should use the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. I did use it, all good.
Today I'm having a second problem with links between Encore CS6 and Photoshop CS6, so I tought it could be because of Photoshop CS5 installed in the same Application folder. So I decided to uninstall that application, but, I can't.
I can't uninstall any Adobe application from my iMac, I click on any 'Uninstall X application' and just appears this error: "The alias "UNINSTALL X ADOBE APPLICATION" can't be opened because the original item can't be found." The uninstaller just dissapeared for both Suites and I need to uninstall them.
    Can you help me community?
Where can I get the Uninstaller for Adobe applications?
    Thanks.

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall.

  • How to uninstall CS5?

I recently got CS6. But I left CS5 in my computer as a backup. Now I want to uninstall CS5 because I believe CS5 is the reason my CS6 programs keep crashing on me without offering to save my work prior to crashing.
How do I uninstall CS5 completely, without harming CS6 in any way?
thanks in advance for your response.
    C

You don't. The rest is unfounded speculation. unisntall both version, run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall only CS6.

  • After installing CS6 can I uninstall CS5?  If so, how do I do it?

After installing CS6 can I uninstall CS5?  If so, how do I do it?

This comes up repeatedly, so you may want to do a forum search.
    In a nutshell:
If you wanted to remove CS5, you should have done so before installing CS6.  The CS5 uninstaller is very likely to mess with and destroy the CS6 installation.
Your best bet now is to use the CS6 uninstaller and uninstall CS6 first, then use the CS5 uninstaller to uninstall CS5, then run the Adobe CSClean script (downloadable from the Adobe site), and finally install CS6 again.
All adobe updaters are FULL installers and do not need a previously installed version to work.  When they don't find a prior version installed, they will simply prompt you for the old serial number as well as the new one.

  • Do I uninstall CS5 & CS6 before downloading CC?

I have Master Creative Suite CS5 (disk) installed on my iMAC running Mountain Lion 10.8.5.  Some time ago I subscribed to Creative Cloud and installed CS6.  Major computer problem caused me to have to wipe the hard drive and restore from the backup disk.  My last backup was September last year which was before I installed the Creative Cloud CC apps.  I would like to install the CC apps.  Do I uninstall both the CS5 and CS6 apps first? At this point neither of the CS5 or CS6 apps have been updated.

    Hi Stormy_Weather,
It would be best to uninstall CS5 and CS6 before installing Creative Cloud applications as the previous versions are restored from a backup which might cause issues.
    Regards,
    Akshay

  • Should I uninstall CS5.5 before I start downloading CC apps?

I have CS5.5, but just purchased CC.
I was wondering is it recommended to uninstall CS5.5 before I start with Creative Cloud???
    thanks

There is neither a recommendation nor is it a technical requirement. In particular ifd you use specific plug-ins or otehr stuff like olde scanners and printers that may not be compatible with CC or for which you don't have the money to upgrade, you might consider keeping CS5.5 around... Otherwise feeel free to remove it.

  • When I downloaded CC, I uninstalled CS5 and CS6, now I cannot open my older psd

When I downloaded CC, I uninstalled CS5 and CS6, now I cannot open my older psd photos, has anyone else had this problem...

Your info is at best vague. PSD files are compatible across versions on a very broad level, so whatever problem you have may be very specific. You have not provided any relevant technical info about your system or your files, so nobody can say anything specific, though.

  • Can i uninstall CS5 now that I have installed CC?

I have recently upgraded from CS5 to CC and was wondering if I can now uninstall CS5 to make space?

    Hi nickmossdesign.com,
If you no longer wish to use CS5 any more then simply deactivate and then uninstall CS5 software and continue using CC.
To deactivate launch any Adobe CS5 application/Go to help/ Select deactivate.
