Uninstalling DEVICE software

This may be a n00b question....so apologies in advance.
What's the best way to uninstall/remove the multiple versions of DEVICES
software from my computer?
I am currently running the DESKTOP software v5.0.1.
These all have been for my VZW BB Tour 9630. I am expecting my new Bold 9650 today.
I currently have the following DEVICES software installed:
v4.7.1
v5.0.0.231
v5.0.0.419
v5.0.0.230
v5.0.0.591 platform 4.2.0.272
v5.0.0.591 platform 4.2.0.284
FIFO (First In First Out) - Start with v4.7.1 first?
or
LIFO (Last In First Out) - Start with v5.0.0.591 platform 4.2.0.284?
Thanks!

Hello,
The order of uninstall should not matter. But, if it were me, I'd go in the reverse order that I installed them (LIFO). Given the amount of things you've got going on, I'd probably advise getting a registry cleansing tool and running that after you finish uninstalling and before you install anything new.
Cheers!

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?

  • Desktop Manager asks for "insert BB device software updater disk"

When open DM (v 5.0) a message "insert BB device software updater disk" for a file named "ApploaderWebSL-Upgrade[1].msi". I cant find it....help needed....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK. Can you uninstall 5.0 first. Next download and save the DM 5.0 exe file somewhere on your computer. Instead of double-clicking the file to install it, first extract the contents of the file to a folder on your computer. You can use any zipping program (i.e.. Winzip, Winrar, 7-zip) to right click the EXE file and choose Extract To. On my computer I created a folder called "Desktop Manager" and extracted all of the contents into that. Now you can go into the folder that contains the extracted contents and run the "BlackBerrySetup.exe" file to install the software.
If you just double click on the EXE file then the software extracts all required files to a temporary folder on your computer. After the installation is complete then the temporary files get deleted. So the main benefit to doing it above is that all of the installation files will always be located in a folder on your computer. So if you ever have to reinstall, repair, or find an MSI file that the program needs you don't have to download the software again.
Let me know if that works out.

  • Can't install or uninstall Desktop software and Roxio Media Manager has taken over

I had been having trouble with the Blackberry Desktop software crashing each time I closed it when I was done using it. This morning when I booted my computer I got an error message that said RoxWatchTray9 was unable to locate component. When I tried to close that box it attempted to install something but it just stalls. When I close try to cancel it just freezes. After while it tries to install again only to freeze again.
I figured the best solution would be to uninstall and reinstall the program but when I went into Add/Remove I discovered six listings for Blackberry Device Software for Blackberry 9530 smartphone, one for v5.0 and five for v4.7.0. I finally managed to uninstall the v5.0 at the top of the list but I can't remove the other five. I also can't reinstall the program. Roxio Media Manager continues attempting to force an install and is hogging my system resources. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Try this process (you might have to do step 2 multiple times for each instance of what is showing in add/remove programs):
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/WIN7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again. You might also want to avoid Media Manager unless you really really need it.
Good luck and let us know!

  • BB Device Software - Crashes

    Hello All,
Everytime I start up BB Device Software it starts up OK, then after approx. 5-7 seconds it crashes and I receive an error message saying it encountered a problem and needs to close. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing about 3 times now. All with the same exact results. Please help, I recently bought my Torch and now cannot sync up with PC. Thank you in advance for all of your suggestions/comments.

Ah, ok.  Sorry for the confusion!  You're post said "BB Device Software" which typically means the software that is installed on the BlackBerry or the "OS" as it is sometimes referred to.
So you are having this issue with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 6.0?
Do you have your BlackBerry plugged into your computer when you start up BlackBerry Desktop Manager?
    Thanks

    Ideas?

Tried re-downloading, but get a message that latest software is already loaded. New version no. does NOT show up in About. • How can I update my device software when my phone keeps rebooting? Please help!

    Hi!
Ok so yesterday, my phone randomly froze. The screen went white and error 102 came up. After lots of research, I realized only updating my blackberry would sort it out. It was impossible though as my blackberry started to load 3/4 of the way and then reboot again. Today, I ended up having to wipe my whole system to which I got error 507. For a while my phone wouldn't find any updates and when it did, it would begin to update and then my phone would reboot mid update. I FINALLY found apploader on my system after a big struggle LOL to which it told me I had no software (which I was aware of) and didn't give me the option to add or install everything. I then manually downloaded the software I needed and started apploader again to which it FINALLY found my software, went all the way through to the stage I needed. Told me what would be installed (software, app world, bbm, etc). I started celebrating, went through with the update to which my phone just REBOOTED AGAIN! So obviously the update couldn't complete! I've been through everything.. uninstalled and reinstalled my OS, wiped my phone system, deleted vendor. But absolutely nothing is working. I've got all the way to the end finally and can nearly update my system but the phone just won't stop rebooting. Help!
    Thank you

This tip is for those users where the 'Safe mode' works which want to install new or current device software and restore existing apps in one update.
I had a similar issue. My Torch rebooted about 30s after the home screen was up again so I could not use DTM to help me.  So I used the ‘Save mode’ procedure by holding down the escape key when I saw the loading bar appear and then released it when the home screen was up with a ‘Safe screen’ message, saying OK then.
    see for ‘save mode’ link:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do;jsessionid=08A4E88DB3F21D4A860414EDED22AB58?...)
Once my Torch was steady and did not reboot any more I deleted the 2 apps which might have caused the issue after upgrading them (Who knows why my phone did to tart this afterwards?).
If your phone still reboots after a 'safe' boot, it might be a hardware issue, either in your phone or the cable connections. Try a different USB port, another cable, wiggle on the connection points to see what happens. It could also be that its device software got corrupted and then look elsewhere on this forum.
However, if the safe mode works I suggest reconnecting to your DTM7 in ‘Safe mode’. (Are you running DTM version 7 ?; I suggest it for the next tip).
Now, after you made another backup rather then using the’ Apploader route’  you went through before I suggest to select under Device ‘Update’ and then after it cannot find a newer version it says: ‘Connecting to your BlackBerry device’ and finally ‘There are no Blackberry Device Software updates available’.
Now select ‘View other Versions’ which then points to ‘Device software’ versions on your PC. (I assume you have at least one installed on your PC).
Highlight the ‘currently installed’ version and click install.  Under ‘Update Options’ on the next screen check ‘Back up device data’ and uncheck ‘Email me…’ and then select ‘ Install update’
Now hands off till you get the’ Updating complete’ message. Follow all the prompts for each app. You might have to reload data from one of your previous backup files (it depends how convoluted your BB status is, i.e. did your wipe your phone with another method first?). If you did not and your apps are still present then my method should restore all your current data and apps.
I hope this can work for you too. Let me know by accepting this as a solution or ‘Like” it

  • Uninstall/reinstall software

After updating to Windows 8, I lost scan functionality on my Officejet 6500  E709n
I found the issue in HP Support and tried to follow the instruction to uninstall and reinstall the device software by right clicking on the Start button, selecting Programs and features, selecting my printer and then clicking uninstall.
The problem is, my printer was not listed in Programs and features. I also went to the Print and Scan doctor and identified that the software is installed on my PC. Then I went to my downloads and tried to identify the file that I should "uninstall" and was unable to identify the appropriate file.
    Can you help?

    Hello k-10,
So you upgraded to Win 8 or 8.1 specifically?
Did you reinstall the software? What source did you reinstall the drivers and software from, the HP download site or original CD?
Can you see the printer in Devices and Printers?
Go to the Search bar and type in Devices and Printers.
Disconnect the USB cable from the printer to computer.
IF you see the printer in the list, right click it and choose Remove Device. The printer will un-install.
Assuming this is not an HP computer... If you had any other HP printers or software installed, remove those programs as well. They could have a missing component causing the printer to not show up.
IF this does not work, you can try the Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility. Download and install and follow the prompts.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-110147-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
I will stop here until I hear back from you.
If these procedures do not work, you will have to manually remove the components in the Programs folder and also the registry keys. Then download the correct driver for you version of Windows from the HP download site to install.

  • Windows error after uninstalling ipod software

Hope someone can help. I recently un-installed ipod software due to problems on computer. Anyway since I uninstalled the software I no longer have acces to my CD or DVD drives they show an error message of code 41 that states the device driver was loaded but no physical device is present.
I know the physical device is there. Was wondering if anyone may be able to help, i am running winxp home. I checked micro web site they say remove upper and lower limits in registry. but not specific to IPOD. Seems odd i would uninstall ipod software and my dvd or cd no longer exist? was gonna try re-installing software and see if it helps but was hoping for an experts opinion first.

uninstall the drivers for the CD and DVD drives in control panel and system and let Windows refind them. Also you could reinstall Itunes and Ipod and just let them be.

  • Need Device Software for V4.2.2.65

    Hi Everyone,
I am looking for device software V4.2.2.65. I have checked it here
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp for all the operators and also the O2 site, could not find it anywhere.
Can anyone let me know where I could get the device software for the below specifications
    Blackberry Curve 8300 V4.2.2.65 (PLATFORM V2.4.0.28)
    Thanks & Regards
    Ponnu

    THANK YOU FOR THE ISO!!!
    It worked flawlessly.
However, I did a messy job of installing it. I had installed the beta drivers before using the iso, and then when I installed the CD and its drivers none of the utilities worked. I then tried uninstalling the utilities but the installation stalled and failed repeatedly. Luckily, I had the option to system restore, but it was on a save point in the middle of installation. So its a pretty sloppy job.
One thing: when switching between modules (EQ, or volume control, or EAX); there is a 6 second wait.
Also, EAX reverb does not work well on Soundfonts (very faint reverb, but definetely not sufficient).
But thank you very much for saving my life.

Dcannot install driver, cannot update driver, cannot uninstall device7 SB Audigy4 24 bit
    Hi,
I have read the faq & tried numerous time all suggested steps, to no avail
In device mgr, I am unable to uninstall the device, services.exe goes to 50-80% cpu usage for hours & hours, without ever uninstalling my SB
If on the other hand, I try to install with one of the recommended driver, it invariably tells that it need to uninstall a previous driver, then it stays at the uninstall full sreen for hours. Oddly enough, device mgr gives me a code 8 (no driver installed)
I need to nuke whatever's left of the driver, something ctzapxx.exe has not been able to help me do so far
I have spent the better part of the last 3 days trying to get this fixed, you guys are my last hope before I reformat
    Tks in advance

Thank you for the information, Harry. If you are installing from the HP CD which came with you then let us check with downloading the All-in-One software from the hp website and then check for the result.

    3. Click Start on the taskbar and then click Run.
    4. In the command box type the following command and press Enter key:

(X: is the CD-ROM drive letter of that the all-in-one CD-ROM is in)
Follow the above steps to uninstall the All-in-One software and then restart the computer .
Then download the software from the below web link:
    full feature software in vista
Click on the above link and open the web page, after you open the above link click on download only button and save the file onto your desktop.
