Uninstalling drivers installing new
How do i do this without deleting the applications like mode changer.
cause I deleted everything with soundblaster did the new beta and the mode switcher and other stuff was gone. now i reinstalled my cd drivers that i got with my sound card today. I want to dl the new drivers. how do i do this.. do i delete old ones if so step by step on how to do this without deleting the main applications that r on my comp like mode switcher/ splash everything.
In 'add/remove programs' chose to 'Sound Blaster X-Fi' the click the 'remove' box. You should then see a list of the components installed, chose the 'audio driver' and then follow it through. That should just do the driver. It may also be worth removing the 'Creative Audio Console' from 'add/remove programs' manually as that will get removed and updated when you do the new drivers anyway.

Anything i try related to firefix gets "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox" I have tried rebooting no luck, i have tired uninstalling from add remove programs or installing 4.0 over it. At the time I was try to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.6.15. I tried searching for the xpicleanup.dat file but no luck there.
Any suggestions to get firefox back up and runningI was having the same problem, so I deleted 'firefox.exe.moz-upgrade' from 'C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox' directory, as recommended. Now it no longer says it needs a restart to complete a previous installation. It says it needs a restart to complete a previous uninstall. What do I do now? Help!

Do I uninstall before installing new drive
Sorry, I am suuuurrree this has been asked a million times, but didn't see it in the FAQ.
I am putting a Sound Blaster Li've into my rig, do I need to install from the CD? If so, do I install the updated driver listed in the download section over it's Both of them, there is a big pack and one that says I need it st.

Thanks.You just install the Li've Uni-Pack, not the driver update pack. That update pack is for an update to the initial unified driver that is no longer posted.
The problem is the only software update that'll then install are the 2 PlayCenter downloads. First, 3.02.52 then 3.02.70. The other software needs a previous installation to update.
A way around this is to install the full cd from badboy's posting of Creative cd's. After that you just need the PlayCenter 3.02.70 update. It installs the same package as the Li've Uni-Pack but also has full versions of the software package. -

Having problems installing Canon MG3170. Anyone have any solutions? Here is what I have tried:-
-Installed from provided Canon disk, firstly with wireless connection, then using USB connection. Printer could not be added because the Macbook returns that the software is not available from Apple for both types of connections.
-Uninstalled software from the Canon disk, checked for software updates, then downloaded drivers (printer and scanner) from Canon Website. Again tried to install using wireless connection then USB connecton. Printer could not be added because Macbook returns that the software is not available from Apple
-Uninstalled drivers downloaded direct from Canon Website and plugged printer into Macbook using USB, Macbook recognised the printer and searched for the software, again Macbook returns that hte software is not available from Apple.

Sorry it took me a while to repsond, Ive been pretty busy with school and work. But for my hard drive problem, I did hours and hours of more research and trying countless ways of installing and tweaking things in my laptop and absolutely nothing worked that I could do. It was very irritating because I felt like I was so close to fixing it and I was just missing a step somewhere. Though It still boggles me why the disk utility shows a different capacity for the HD's. One thing I'm going to try next is replacing the hard drive cable that goes from the internal HD to the macbook. I read somewhere that sometimes those can go bad over time, and also if you get a new, modern hard drive, sometimes the old cable (for some odd reason) might not be compatible with the new HD. So i want to test it out for myself to see it that is the actual culprit.

Have you made any progress on your hard drive at all? If worst comes worst for you, you can probably get a SATA to USB cable and try to reformat it that way (this is the way that worked for me, but the only problem was it wouldn't be recognized when I installed it internally. Thats why i want to try getting the new cable), and if it still wont recognize it after that, you can just leave it outside of your mac, and just boot from that. The only thing that ***** about that is you have this big hard drive handing off the side of your mac when ever you need to use it.

do i have to uninstall my old mobo drivers before installing the new one's? or just install over them??

Yeah, I just overwrite the mobo drivers with new ones as they usually only differ in small details.
For Vid Card drivers I like to use Driver Cleaner (Google for it - It's free & it will get rid of Mobo & Sound Card drivers too, if you wish) to root out all traces of a previous driver set before installing new ones. Unlike mobo drivers, different versions can vary greatly in content... if some of the old code is left over, it may not allow the new drivers to work properly. -

For starters, what exactly do you mean by "cannot print"?
Are you getting an error message? Are you trying to print from within Reader or are you opening these in the browser? What version of Reader. Even though it's a new printer, the drivers that came with it (or the ones that were already on your computer) may be old so, have you downloaded the most recent drivers from the Brother site? -
ITunew won't let me update/install new Itunes nor let me uninstall
So i open my computer and says it has to update. I press ok and it updates. When I come back, i reopen Itunes and it has the message saying Windows is configuring this thing or whatever. After awhile, it says i do not have permission to do this action. I find the next reasonable solution. To delete and re install. So i go to uninstall programs and I try to uninstall it. It then says The installer has insufficent privileges to modify this file: and then states the file called Acknowledgements.rtf. This is when I start to get annoyed. I then find next reasonable action. I redownload the installer and when it starts running, there are to options. Repair or Uninstall. I choose uninstall and it shows me the same message earlier. I then press repair and then it gives me the same message again. I now have nothing to do and can't open Itunes nor uninstall or install. So basically now my itouch can only recharge and can't get new music . HELP. IM RIPPING MY HAIR OUT>

Anyone know how I can update/unbrick this iPod? It's useless. It's stuck on the screen that says connect to iTunes. iTunes doesn't know it's there. My computer doesn't know it's there. It's not the USB port.

Last time it was a missing driver for iTunes but iTunes says nothing new is needed. Help appreciated.Let me try this again. My computer said my iPod needed an update. I clicked ok. iTunes said it was doing the update. I browsed the internet. I came back to it after it was done, and it said update failed, no new drivers installed. Now my iPod touch is a brick. I cannot use it for anything. You know that screen that shows the usb cable, a white arrow, and iTunes? It's stuck there. No amount of pushing the sleep/wake button and home button will convince it to go to any other screen. When I go to 'My Computer', it does not recognize that there is anything there. It is not the USB port. Everything was fine until the update tried and failed.
I am not installing iTunes (piece of crap software that it is) on the other computer in my apartment.
I have exhausted the articles that sort of go with the problems I am having. They all assume a non brick iPod. Mine is a brick and therefore those articles, including the one you linked, are not relevant.
Not meaning to be rude, but I came into this not caring much for Apple's business model. I've had my iPod for .. a week? Maybe two, and nothing I've seen has convinced me to feel otherwise. Apple's products are supposed to just work. I am not finding that to be the case. Anyone with anything helpful please? -
"Extraction Failed: Cannot Open Output File" error message when installing new drivers
Hello, I'm trying to install new drivers for my HP Photosmart C4385 Printer. I downloaded the full feature drivers for Windows XP 32-bit, and when I start to install (extract), I get the error message:
Extraction Failed
Cannot Open Output File
And the process closes. It happens at about 85% extraction every time.
Any idea why? I called HP but since it is out of warranty they wanted money, which I think as absolutely ridiculous - won't even give me basic support?? Poor, poor customer service.

If you haven't still got the Full Feature software installer, download it from the link below and save it to your Desktop. If you already have it, place it on your Desktop.

Make sure the Printer is disconnected from your PC.
Download and install 7-ZIP. Once installed, right click on the software installer for your printer, select 7-Zip and choose extract files, then click Ok.
Open the newly extracted folder and double click the setup application to start the installation ( the setup application will probably have the same icon as the original software installer you downloaded ). Connect the printer to your PC when the software asks.

Can't uninstall older version, can't install newer version
I bought The Wiz off iTunes, and it stopped about nidway through it and told me there was an error. So I contacted a tec dude, and he told me to download a newer version of Quicktime. So I tried, and it told me that a newer version as installed and the installation process could not be finished. So then I tried to uninstall the version of Quicktime I had, and it said the same thing, that I could not get it uninstalled until the newer version of Quicktime was uninstalled. I know my way around my computer very well, and there is only one version of Quicktime installed on it, which is 7.5.5. I tried downloading a newer version, 7.6.2, but it still gave me the same message.
Until this is fixed I can't download anything off iTunes and it's driving me crazy. Any ideas?It's gotta be in here

Wiped our old iPad 1 clean, now can't install iOS from iTunes using laptop PC (W Vista). iTunes does not "see" the device. Tried uninstalling and installing iTunes on laptop. Also bought new USB cable. The iPad is charging, but that's all it does. Just want to get it operating again for browsing and e-reading.
OK. You merely erased the content and settings. The IOS is still there.
If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures. From what you've already stated, my guess is that you'll end up with Recovery Mode described in the last paragraph.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this. -

Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
