Uninstalling drivers on MACPro

Hi,
sorry new MAC user wanting to know how to uninstall drivers that are visible under System profiler
What is he uninstall procedure.
Thanks

Drivers are usually extensions. Modems scripts are not. There has to be a device to call on and load the driver. Your system has lots of such drivers for printers and other devices.
Unless it is conflicting with something else, it just doesn't get loaded.
You have lots of device drivers "just sitting there."
A program that installs something either has an uninstaller, or you have to know what was installed where. I can't see a modem driver being an issue.
Take a look at System Profiler: Extensions
/Library/Modem Scripts
You'll need to authenticate if you choose to delete is all.

  • Before I install MX922, do I need to uninstall drivers for MP800 first?

My MP800 is out after many years of service due Error Code 6500. Before I install MX922, do I need to uninstall drivers for MP800? Or just install MX922 as normal? Running OS X 10.10 Yosemite on Mac mini. I want my scanned images done by MP800 to remain on my mac of course. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi pmt513,
You don't have to uninstall the drivers for the PIXMA MP800 prior to installing the PIXMA MX922; however, if you would like to, you can reset the printer system on your Mac to uninstall the drivers without removing the scanned images.  To do this, please follow these steps:
    1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.
    2. Hold down the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears. After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences should be empty. If your printer is still listed on the left select your printer and then click the minus (-) button to delete it.
    3. Restart your Mac.
You can now install the drivers for the PIXMA MX922.
    Hope this helps!

  • Uninstalling Drivers?

How do you uninstall drivers? I recently installed updated drivers for Call of Duty 2, and for some reason I am having trouble playing online due to the new drivers.
Does anyone know how to uninstall drivers so I can continue playing online?
    Thanks,
    -Nick

I'm not familiar with Call of Duty, but you could try doing a Spotlight search using whatever key words you think would help in locating the "drivers." If you decide to delete something, make sure you know exactly what it is you are getting rid of.

  • How to uninstall drivers?

I've installed some printer drivers and updated a few a long the way. I never saw an option to uninstall the drivers before installing the new ones. Does Leopard keep the old drivers? Do they get replaced? How can I check what drivers are installed on my mac? I just don't want excess stuff installed taking up space on my MacBook.

Uninstalling isn't MacOS X's strong suit.
Here is the man page for kextunload
I'm not at my Mac now so I can't easily hunt around for more information. But this command will stop and unload a kernel extension. Then you can delete it. Make sure it is something you don't need.
There are other, similar commands to list kernel extension, load new ones, etc.
You'll need to use sudo for this. A backup would be a good idea. Be careful.

  • Do I need to uninstall drivers from install CD before updating to 2.09.00

    Hi,
Re X Fi Fatalty Sound Card.
I have finally got everything working (more or less) properly by installing from the Installation CD.
Now i would like to update the drivers.
Please tell me whether I can simply install over the existing files, or do I need to uninstall everything again, before updating to the latest drivers available on the Creative website?
    Many thanks
    Palmer.

e don't need to uninstall... the proper way is run the driver update with all intalled!

  • X-fi,cant uninstall drivers + bf2 stutter

    hi,
i innitially used the drivers and package from the cd then uninstalled them and opted for just the drivers only and the creative audio console from the creative website.
now bf2 stutters really bad, every 0 or 5 seconds i`ll get a sec stutter which is doing my head in.
in the add/remove programs option there are no drivers to unistall for x-fi only the creative audio console is showing in there so how am i supposed to uninstall them?
is anyone else suffering from stuttering whilst playing bf2,my audigy 2 zs nevr had this problem.

  • Uninstalling Drivers - Please Help!!

    Hi All,
I've spent at least 8 hours over the past days trying to roll back the latest X-Fi driver from 2.8.003 to 2.8.008. I should never have installed it as everyting was working fine, but I got greedy and wanted to DTS Connect (only had DD Li've with the old driver) and now my entire PC is screwed up. It takes literally 0 minutes for me to shut down, another 5 minutes to reboot. My SPDIF Out doesn't work anymore, so can't use PowerDVD or TMT anymore. I'm close to throwing this Creative piece of **** out the window, but wanted to give it one last try. So far I've done the following:
In Device Manager right-clicked on X-Fi driver, Uninstall and ticked box Delete Driver Files. Re-booted, tried to install old driver, got error "A newer driver version has been found" or something like that<
Unzipped the driver with WinRAR, went into WDM directory and ran Setup.exe, chose Uninstall and ticked "Delete Files"<
Used Driver Sweeper, Driver Cleaner Pro and a couple of other programmes<
Finally managed to install the previous driver, but somehow it must still be using?files of the new driver as I still get the endless Shutdown/Restart time and my SPDIF Out doesn't work. Proof of this is also the fact that I?still have DTS Connect, which with my X-Fi card I did not have with previous drivers.<
I've done all of the above about 5 times ad nauseam, but no success<
I'm not even going to ask why Creative can't come up with drivers that work or why there isn't an Uninstall programme, but can someone please tell me how to do a clean uninstall?without having to reinstall Vista from scratch? (I'm?running?Vista 64 Ultra).
    Many thanks?

Did you ever figure out how to fix this?  I am having the exact same problem?

  • How to uninstall drivers Mavericks

Okay so, I bought a Huion H610 Pro graphics tablet.
I followed the instructions of installing drivers first, THEN plugging it in, but the pressure sensitivity does not work in any graphics program (Adobe CC, Manga, Sketch Express, etc). I would go to Huion Support, but their English is so bad, when i e-mailed them they said 'so we understand you want instructions on how to install the driver, here is a new driver attached' (and there was no driver attached).
Also their manual for Mac switches to PC guidelines half way through for no reason whatsoever.
    Anyway.
All I want to know is how to find drivers on Mavericks (I have a 2009 iMac if that helps). I just wanted to delete their drivers so I can re-install them and try again.
    Thanks!

You would look on the tablet manufacturer's website. Or google it.
Or take the thing back for a refund.

  • Uninstalling drivers installing new

How do i do this without deleting the applications like mode changer.
cause I deleted everything with soundblaster did the new beta and the mode switcher and other stuff was gone. now i reinstalled my cd drivers that i got with my sound card today. I want to dl the new drivers. how do i do this.. do i delete old ones if so step by step on how to do this without deleting the main applications that r on my comp like mode switcher/ splash everything.

In 'add/remove programs' chose to 'Sound Blaster X-Fi' the click the 'remove' box. You should then see a list of the components installed, chose the 'audio driver' and then follow it through. That should just do the driver. It may also be worth removing the 'Creative Audio Console' from 'add/remove programs' manually as that will get removed and updated when you do the new drivers anyway.

  • Installation problems installing new Canon MG3170 onto MAC Book Pro with OS X 10.7.5.  Tried installing  using set up disk. Didn't work.  Uninstalled files and downloaded drivers from Canon Website. Didn't work. Uninstalled again and plugged printer usb

Having problems installing Canon MG3170. Anyone have any solutions?  Here is what I have tried:-
-Installed from provided Canon disk, firstly with wireless connection, then using USB connection.  Printer could not be added because the Macbook returns that the software is not available from Apple for both types of connections.
-Uninstalled software from the Canon disk, checked for software updates, then downloaded drivers (printer and scanner) from Canon Website.  Again tried to install using wireless connection then USB connecton.  Printer could not be added because Macbook returns that the software is not available from Apple
-Uninstalled drivers downloaded direct from Canon Website and plugged printer into Macbook using USB, Macbook recognised the printer and searched for the software, again Macbook returns that hte software is not available from Apple.
    Help!

    nrg adjusta,
Sorry it took me a while to repsond, Ive been pretty busy with school and work. But for my hard drive problem, I did hours and hours of more research and trying countless ways of installing and tweaking things in my laptop and absolutely nothing worked that I could do. It was very irritating because I felt like I was so close to fixing it and I was just missing a step somewhere. Though It still boggles me why the disk utility shows a different capacity for the HD's. One thing I'm going to try next is replacing the hard drive cable that goes from the internal HD to the macbook. I read somewhere that sometimes those can go bad over time, and also if you get a new, modern hard drive, sometimes the old cable (for some odd reason) might not be compatible with the new HD. So i want to test it out for myself to see it that is the actual culprit.
    http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-Hard-Drive-Cable/IF186-018
Once I get the cable and install it I'll let you know the results and if it helped at all.
Have you made any progress on your hard drive at all? If worst comes worst for you, you can probably get a SATA to USB cable and try to reformat it that way (this is the way that worked for me, but the only problem was it wouldn't be recognized when I installed it internally. Thats why i want to try getting the new cable), and if it still wont recognize it after that, you can just leave it outside of your mac, and just boot from that. The only thing that ***** about that is you have this big hard drive handing off the side of your mac when ever you need to use it.
Heres a link for a SATA to USB. this one is good because is compact and protects the HD from damage and most static electricity.

Im still continuing my search for the answer and once i find it (if ever!) I'll post it.

  • Bootcamp drivers Windows 7 (64 bit)

I had my mac replaced because of a screen defect... for some reason after installing windows 7 back on it I cant seem to get the boocamp drivers to work properly. The closest I got was having my keyboard lit all the time but no buttons were working... or trackpad. I DID have this working before and I just remember installing drivers... maybe I have tried the wrong ones? I have went through several and no success so far. So I reformatted with a fresh Windows 7 and now I wanna wait until I get feedback on EXACTLY what to install... thanks

I totally missed that you put this under "Input Devices" rather than "Install" category....

  • Cracking audigy 2 ZS after drivers upd

I updated my old drivers (the CD drivers) with the online drivers, after all the process and reboot, when I play something, audio comes with cracking noise..
I tried to uninstall drivers, reinstall old drivers, change the pci slot of the card, but the problem still exists.
With another soundcard (not creative) everything works fine.
    What can I do?!

You mentioned mics (several I suppose).
Audigy 2 Zs Notebook does have only one mono microphone input shared w/ analog line-in and S/PDIF (a multi-purpose input 'port' called FlexiJack).
As a PCMCIA audio device, I suggest you to get E-MU 66 or 66M instead of SB Audigy 2 Zs Notebook.
There are also plenty of USB and FireWire audio interfaces available you can use w/ laptop.
