Uninstalling Explorer SP1

Hi folks,
When uninstalling Explorer 3.2 SP1 with the AddOrRemoveProducts.sh I would expect the uninstallation to
proceed without error.
However I find that running the AddOrRemoveProducts.sh results in the error;
"FATAL ERROR: Product's parent not found on tree:"
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Explorer XI 3.1
2. Install Explorer SP1
3. Test Explorer is working fine.
4.) Try to remove SP1 by using the AddOrRemoveProducts.sh.
Is anyone aware of this bug\issue?
Thanks,
John

I just went through the uninstall on SuSe 10 and it worked fine for me.  Did you see the error in the AddOrRemoveProducts.sh output or within a logfile?
Also, I'm not sure if your original post was mistyped or if that was your correct install order.  The "Explorer 3.2 Sp1" install is a full build.  You do not need to install Explorer 3.2 first then install Explorer 3.2 Sp1.  If Explorer 3.2 or any prior version is already installed, it requires an uninstall before you install "Explorer 3.2 SP1".  On Windows, it will warn you and prevent the install from continuing.  I haven't tried the same on Linux.

    Hi,
I get the following error message when I try to uninstall 2012 SP1. The repair and install also gives below error
Could not load type 'System.Xml.Xsl.Xslt.XslVersion' from assembly 'System.Data.SqlXml, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=' due to value type mismatch
    Any thoughts? Thanks

    Hi Shiva Gangadhar,
According to your description, if you want to uninstall SQL Server 2012 SP1 completely, you need to note that the service pack makes changes to the system tables for maintenance reasons, and upgrades
user and distribution databases that are members of a replication topology. Due to these changes, you cannot easily remove service packs. There is no automated way to remove a service pack, and the process of removing a service pack involves several manual
steps and risks if not done correctly.
There are more details about how to remove a SQL Server Service Pack and uninstall SQL Server instance completely.

  • Problems after upgrade from SCVMM 2012 Sp1 to SCVMM 2012 R2

I did a in-place (uninstall VMM2012 Sp1, retain the database, and install VMM2012 R2 point to old database) upgrade. All the steps work fine.
The only problem (so far) is that when I create a new VM using a custom template (for example, Windows 2008 R2), the deploy fail with the following error:
    Error (2912)
An internal error has occurred trying to contact the vm-scvmm2012.domain.com server: NO_PARAM: NO_PARAM.
WinRM: URL: [http://vm-scvmm2012.domain.com:5985], Verb: [INVOKE], Method: [GetError], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/microsoft/bits/BitsClientJob?JobId={56B8E488-5DB9-4CC1-BEFA-AFF76E1E4D2D}]
    Unknown error (0x80072f0d)
    Recommended Action
Check that WS-Management service is installed and running on server vm-scvmm2012.domain.com. For more information use the command "winrm helpmsg hresult". If vm-scvmm2012.domain.com is a host/library/update server or a PXE server role then ensure
that VMM agent is installed and running. Refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 for more details.
    Information (26278)
VMM could not offload transfer the file \\vm-scvmm2012.domain.com\MSSCVMMLibrary\VHDs\Template_Windows_2008_R2_SP1.vhdx to C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\VM-NEWVM\Template_Windows_2008_R2_SP1.vhdx.
    Any ideas?

I have a similar problem when migrating VMs from Windows 2008 R2 (Non Clustered) Hyper-V to Windows 2012 Hyper Cluster. I had previously migrated about 100 VMs like this with no problem. It appears since upgrading from VMM SP1 Rollup 4 to Rollup 5 this problem
is happening. All Agents are up to date.
I can migrate VMs in the cluster no problem.
I removed the Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V host and added it back which allowed the job to at least start but when it gets to the final steps of importing the VM it fails with the same error and references the VMM server.
Others suggest this is a VMM Certificate problem and you can remove the Cluster node and add it back again but I can't do that in a production Cluster with hundreds of VMs. That is not an acceptable solution.
    How can we fix this?

32-bit programs are normally found in the x86 folder.  You can tell which version you're running by clicking "Help" and selecting About Internet Explorer.  The 64-bit version will say so.  The 32-bit version just has the version number.  Don't fault Microsoft for the problem.  The fact is that Adobe has failed to provide 64-bit versions of Flash player.  They are the ones who own the player and the ones who must provide updates.  Personally I think the fact that they haven't yet come up with 64-bit versions doesn't speak very well of Adobe's support for their products.

  • Migration from SCVMM 2012 SP1 to R2 - New Hardware

We want to migrate our existing SCVMM 2012 SP1 to new hardware and then bump it to SCVMM 2012 R2. Our database is on a separate SQL 2008 R2 server. This is what we envision doing to get there:
Uninstall SCVMM 2012 SP1 on existing server and retaining the database
Backup and restore the SCVMM database to a new SQL 2012 server
Install SCVMM 2012 R2 on new hardware and connect to existing database on SQL 2012 server
Does this sound doable? Will we lose anything in the move? Maybe our existing libraries?

Using your steps outlined above may NOT be supported.

    Upgrading on a remote computer
Upgrading from VMM in System Center 2012 SP1 on one computer to VMM in System Center 2012 R2 on a different computer is not supported when data is retained from the original installation, and the following configurations apply:
The original installation uses Windows DPAPI. This is the default setting if you did not configure distributed key management during setup.
The VMM management server is configured to use any of the following encrypted values or settings:
    Application settings (encrypted value)
    Service setting (encrypted value)
    SQL Server deployment (product key)
    Web deploy package (encryption password)
"Personally" and this is a pain, I would:
Uninstall VMM SP1 and retain the DB.
Re-install the exisiting hardware with Server 2012
Re-install VMM SP1 and reconnect to existing DB
    Upgrade to VMM 2012 R2
    Uninstall and retain the DB
Restore the DB on new SQL 2012 server
Reinstall VMM 2012 R2 on new Server and reconnect to existing DB
Note that you will probably get access denied messages once running on the new VMM server due to the SID change.  You will need to re-associate hosts and libraries.
I'm still not saying this is a supported method, but it's likely it's more supported as it's essentially following DR principals.

On the 1st uninstall Explorer 11 vanished but it's still there---when I reload Fox it's the same Franken browser and I found Exp. 11 when I tried ''new internet connection'' it seems 11 is already running but not showing any longer on desktop or in programs but it is intact and not a franken browser. • Best course of action - Patching

I have a SP 2010 Dev environment that blew up.  I had to rebuild a new server, naming it the same thing as the old.
One of my Dev then reconnected it to the databases.
Since i didn't have the old server to look at, i used one of the primary prod servers to determine the sp patch level.
I made a mistake, and missed SP1.  I installed SP1 using an account that had dbo permissions on the SQL server, and had administrative permissions on the local server, but was not the correct admin account for the farm.
The patch installed fine with no errors.  I then realized my mistake, logged in with the right admin account, and ran the configuration wizard.
It fails on step 2.  I tried running it again with the first account but that fails on step one because it's not the right account anyway.
    So, I tried this..
PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures
which passed all but 4 items.
    then this
psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -wait
which passes all but two item
Then re-ran the configuration wiz and it still fails on step 2 with this error.
Failed to initiate the upgrade sequence.
An exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPUpgradeException was thrown.  Additional exception information: Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPUpgradeException' was thrown.
Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPUpgradeException: Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPUpgradeException' was thrown.

       at Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.UpgradeBootstrapTask.Run()
       at Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.TaskThread.ExecuteTask()
The happens a few times in the log.  No other information.
When I look at the db status in sp I see a pretty big list of databases for various project.  About half of them say this
Database is too new and is not supported
about 25% of them say this..
    No action required
    and another 25% say this
Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended
So, i'm not sure what to do.  Add remove programs won't let me uninstall this sp1.  It looks to me like there have been sites maybe ported from
production with different patch levels, for development purposes, some of which are higher patch level and some lower (am I right?)
I'm trying to figure out the best course of action without having to rebuild this system.  My initial thought is to install sp2 and upgrade all of
them but that may cause a problem if they try to port data back to production after developing for it.
    Thoughts?

    Hi Statistic,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you upgrade SharePoint 2010 to a new server.
Please open Start->Run-> type ‘regedit’, and browse to "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\14.0\WSS" in the registry  and update the value of the SetupType key to "CLEAN_INSTALL".
Then install the MS Chart components:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14422 .
After the above, run the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard, compare the result.
More information, please refer to the link:

    I hope this helps.

  • 10.4.3 with VPC problems

Not sure where to post this but here goes...
I've used VPC for years. Started having problems with it after I installed Tiger so I decided to upgrade it to the latest 7.0.2. One of the problems I was having still persists and I have a new one.
    1. In internet explorer when I go to a web site that has text entry fields I can't get my cursor to go into the text field. Either with the mouse or the tab key. So... I can't log into a website that I need to access through Windows. I can't even figure out how to uninstall Explorer and just reinstall it again.
    2. Now that I have upgraded my VPC I am now given a window that asks me to authenticate Windows because I have significantly upgraded my hardware since installing it. When I try to authenticate selecting the internet option and pressing "Next" the button indents but does nothing. Just sits there. So I can't authenticate it. Very frustrating.
Any Virtual PC experts out there who can help me? At first I thought this might be a Tiger problem but now I am thinking it is a Windows problem. I really wish I didn't need Windows at all.
    thanks,
    charlene

Firefox didn't perform well on the site I want to view. It
worked but the sound breaks up.
Might want to try FF 1.5 if you haven't updated already.
THe sound breakup might be more a function of the translations VPC has to do to get the sound to play through the Mac speakers as opposed to a FF problem.
When I tried it today from my desktop with MIE in VPC 6 and
10.3.9 the sound was perfect. ... powerbook [is]
newer and faster has newer OS and uptodate VPC - so should
    work better right?
logic says yes, but in reality, maybe not - there's less overhead with the older versions of both the OS and VPC.
(So the older version may actually be more efficient than the new version) I've noticed some lack of coordination between video and audio even on older CD based games (from win95 era)
You can speed up VPC a bit by turning off all the eye candy - animated menus, shadows, etc, as well as lowering the VPC screen resulution and color depth. If you can, give it all the memory you can (512mb is max)

  • Trouble Installing 2012 R2 Reporting Services - Version Mismatch Error in logs

    I recently upgraded an instance of SCOM 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2.
I got no errors installing the all of the components except for the reporting services.
As part of my troubleshooting, I ended up just uninstalling the SP1 version of reporting services and just tried a fresh install of R2 Reporting Services.
When installing reporting services, I get to the step it asks you to put in your management server. I do that, and I get an error about the versions not matching. If I look in the OpsMGrSetupWizard.txt in the setup logs, I see the following error.
Error:The management server is a different version than the current setup build. Please use a different management server or the correct version of setup. Server Version: 7.0.9538.0
On both of my management servers, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\Setup shows 7.1.10226.0 for currentversion, ServerVersion and UIVersion
I've tried running the install from the Action account, the SDK Account and my own account, all having admin privileges on the system, same error. I've run the resetSRS.exe against the SQL server in case there were leftovers from the previous SP1 install
    of reporting services.
My searches here and google haven't found anything that has helped.

OK, after digging around some more I found the following.
In the SCOM Console, my management servers were still in maintenance mode from the upgrade somehow, and in the agent managed section for management servers, the version still listed the 7.0.9538.0 version. I removed them from maintenance mode, and within
a few minutes their returned to a monitored state, and the version updated to the 7.1.10226.0 version.
Once that was up to date, I reran the reporting services install on my db server, and it went through properly.
So it looks like the reporting services install is dependent on some part of the management servers updating their version in the db.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 (v12) Runtime on X64

I have been having some serious problems trying to view reports on my Vista x64 machine with CR2008 SP0. I have done an insane amount of testing with no good results.
The error is the typical one that says you either have the wrong key code or the wrong runtime.
At the request of an engineer on CR2008, I am posting my test procedure with results each step of the way.
This is a new computer that had no previous versions of anything on it. Vista x64 Ultimate with SP1, VS2008 SP1. That's it.
    Uninstall CRBasic SP1
    Uninstall CRBasic
    Uninstall CRBasic x64 runtime
Install CR2008 SP0 (options: English only, typical installation)  (remember DEP is permanently off)
    Results
      - As before, designer is now working inside VS2008
    - Cannot view reports in debug mode or at runtime. Same error as always  - reg key permissions or incorrect runtime
    Install Runtime (CRRuntime_12_0_mlb)
(Note, I never know what to put into the product id prompt. I just stick the keycode in there. But I donu2019t want to give my keycode out to my clients. I need to have them install the runtime so they can run this new version of my reports. What do I do?)
    *Results
    - I still cannot view reports. This is really aggravating. This is on the development machine where CR2008 is installed. I shouldnu2019t even need an additional runtime should I? Is this an x64 problem? I thought SP0 made that go away.  Is it really the keycode? I used my keycode to install CR2008. Is there something in the registry I should be checking?
    Install Fix Pack 1
    *Results
-no change in debug or from the compiled app
Install Fix Pack 2 (there is no info anywhere about this FP. Is it cumulative (including FP1)?
    *Results
-no change in debug or from the compiled app
    Reinstall runtime just in case
I see the whole thing is going into program files (x86).
Looked on website and saw a NEW runtime was uploaded 3 days ago.
    Uninstalled prev. runtime.
    Installed latest runtime
    *Results
    -no change
Rebooted (there are no prompts suggesting this)
    *results
    -No change

I would like to know if, in fact a 64 bit .NET  app can or cannot use the Crystal 2008 runtime (developer) to view reports.
No. You can not use CR 2008 runtime in 64 bit apps. CR 2008 only has 32 bit runtime...
CRRuntime_12_3_mlb.msi is what I use under 32bit. (works great) Is there something compatible if I compile as 64bit?
See the document SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio Updates & Runtime Downloads. Note that version 13 is only for VS2010 / 2012...
BTW.; you are on Service Pack 3. I'd recommend updating to SP 5 (see above link).
BTW 2; re. spending 1/2 a day on the phone with SAP... did you get a case number?
BTW #3; the best place to post queries re. CR in .NET apps is the SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio SCN Space.

  • My App-V Server 5.0.1224.0 Service Pack 1 to SP3 upgrade experience

I wanted to share my upgrade experience from App-V Server 5.1.1224.0 Service Pack 1 to SP3, in case it might be of help to anyone out there.  I've been hearing that some of you have resorted to uninstalling your SP1 and installing SP3 cleanly as a fall-back,
but my OCD wouldn't allow me to do that...heh
    Resources used:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn858700.aspx
    http://www.applepie.se/app-v-5-0-sp3 (Thanks Nicke Kallen!)
    My environment:
    Remote SQL server (Management DB)
Remote SQL server (Reporting DB, SSRS, and ReportingService)
    IIS server (Management service)
    Publishing Servers x2 (Publishing service)
As Nicke stated in his post, SQL admins in an enterprise environment would laugh at you if you if you tried to hand them an .exe to run to perform the SQL portion of this upgrade.   The block of code that he provides in his post (link provided
above) was all that was needed to perform the SQL database portion.
    Steps taken to upgrade:
    Update Database
Install .NET Framework 4.5.1 on the Management server and Publishing Servers
Install the SP3 update on the Management server
Install the SP3 update on the Publishing server
After restarting IIS, everything seemed to be fine.  I was able to Publish and Unpublish packages that were already in the system, but when I attempted to add a new package I received an error stating that the computer account did not have access
to the package store.  This made no sense to me, as this permission had already been set in the past, so I double checked and it was still in place.  This lead me back to the first link I provided above, under the section titled "Check registry
keys before installing App-V 5.0 SP3 Server."  Honestly, I did read this first, but I think I was like "there's no way they didn't include this into the installation bits'" and glazed over it.
The first section titled ManagementDatabase key makes no sense to me, since I'm using a remote SQL server that doesn't have any App-V installation bits on it at all, and in an enterprise SQL permissions are not controlled
    in this manner.
The second section titled ManagementService key:
The critical parts of this section are as follows:
MANAGEMENT_ADMINACCOUNT key:  Once I entered this and restarted IIS I was able to add new packages to App-V.  For this I used the service account that is bound to IIS.
MANAGEMENT_DB_SQL_INSTANCE key:  Left blank in my case, as the default instance is valid.
MANAGEMENT_DB_SQL_SERVER_NAME key:  I input the name of the remote SQL server.
The third section titled ReportingDatabase key, again, makes no sense to be since this database was pre-created by SQL admins, therefore this key does not exist on the SQL server.
The fourth section titled ReportingService key:
Since the reporting services are on the same box as the SQL server in my environment, I was able to leave these values blank, but in normal environments where these roles are separated you will want to populate these with the appropriate values.

    Hi,
the challenging point could be the database. I don't know if 4.5 SP2 would introduce any modification to the database (and if so... how 'old' SP1 servers would deal with that), but in theory it could happen that you upgrade server 1 (that you removed from ACE
load balancing before), upgrade it and thus silently apply a change to the database.
If the still unpatched server2 connects to that DB there could be issues.
As in Shared Cache mode a connection to the App-V servers is essential you should test that process in a test lab. Create a backup of your database, and use that along with two App-V servers to practice the migration in the lab.
If you can't do that, find a maintenance window that is long enough run and roll back.

  • Flash Player not working on my new Windows 8 computer

    Hi;
I recently got a new computer two months ago. There are sites that I go to that require Flash Player. So, I tried to get into them from the start menu and the Explorer app, I got messages Flash Player was not installed in my computer. When I went to the manage add-ons list there it was and enabled. I was able to use it in desktop mode so that was fine and been using it as such. It was running slow, but working. Today it says even in desktop mode that Flash Player is not installed in my computer, I check again there it is in the manage add-ons and enabled.
How do I fix this problem? I'm not sure what to do here. I've had people tell me to uninstall Explorer and reinstall it, but that has not worked.
Thanks for any help. Is it a compatibility issue or what?

I'm using a brand spanking new HP HDX laptop with dual core P73350, 2ghz, 4gigs of ram, the OS is Vista Family Edition 64 bit that I got just for webcasting and can't find the problem. Any thoughts out there ?

    sorry for the slow response.
I've switched to using H.264 medium bandwith 200kbps video 48kbps audio total 248kbps
the first 5 minutes it's 90% to 100% but at least it's not crashing as I uninstalled some CPU usage heavy apps
    and then it's stays around 60 % 70%
other major usage of the cpu
    dwm.exe 32 648K (don't know what it is and don't dare uninstall)
    explorer.exe 32 000K
are the major ones with lots of smallers apps taking up 3 000K - 4 000K each
processor config (I'm no expert) is
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P7350 2.00Ghz
    4Gigs of ram
    64 bit
    Windows Vista Family Edition
Message was edited by: Claude jazzboy    Hi again. I did a 30 minute webcast from a concert yesterday and it did ok. I guess the CPU was overused by all kinds of extra stuff HP loads their computers with. I actually might change my laptop for a Core 2 Quad and that should definitly take care of that problem.

  • TF10121: The path '' is not found or not supported. Type or select a different path. After SQL2012 install and Solution upgraded to VS2010

I have recently upgraded a solution from vs2008 to vs2010.  This solution happens to contain several .rptproj file (SSRS 2008R2 reports).  I was able to upgrade the solution after I installed SQL2012 (which installed the necessary templates
    into vs2010).
However whenever I open the solution the Output window now pops up and continuously lists the same error (shows output from Source Control - Team Foundation).
TF10121: The path '' is not found or not supported. Type or select a different path.
I have tried reinstalling Team Explorer SP1, and VS2010 SP1, but with no change.
If I unbind the solution from source control the messages go away.  Rebind and they return.
The problem doesn't always start straight away, it may take a few solution explorer clicks.
Opening an rdl into the editor seems to halt the messages, until I go back to clicking in solution explorer (similarly the issue doesn't always re-occur first click).
    E.g.
TF10121: The path '' is not found or not supported. Type or select a different path.
TF10121: The path '' is not found or not supported. Type or select a different path.
Audit.rdl has been automatically checked out for editing.
Then no errors until going back and clicking in solution explorer (which is using auto hide)

Does anyone else out there share this problem or more importantly a solution/work around?

    Hi Evanw21,
Based on the current information, it seems to be the known issue described in the following KB article:
FIX: TF10121 error when you right-click a project file of the project or a folder in the project in Visual Studio 2010
The root cause of the problem is that we hold onto a stale reference to the old project and get back an empty string when we try to get its directory path. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete
list of Microsoft Customer Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft website:
    http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support
Besides, there is one easy workaround. If we close the solution and re-open it prior to attempting to re-add the project, we should be able to add it successfully.

    Hope this helps.

  • Please reinstall your software

I'd been using Fireworks 8 on WinXP Pro regularly for over a
year, but a couple of weeks ago, while working with a large image
file, Fireworks crashed. I rebooted Windows and Fireworks has not
worked since. I get the following message box when I try to start
    it
    Macromedia Product Activation
    Please Reinstall your software
A problem was detected with your application. Please
reinstall this software to correct the problem.
I have tried EVERYTHING to get Fireworks working again to no
avail, including Fireworks installation repair, Fireworks
reinstall, full re-install of Studio 8, MM Extension Manager
1.5/1.6/1.7 uninstall/re-install, uninstall of every update and app
that was installed for the past month, Windows setup repair, Norton
One-click fix, Norton WinDoctor, Norton Registrry Repair, IE7
uninstall, VS2007 SP1 uninstall, SQL Server uninstall, Flash player
uninstall, Shockwave uninstall, Netscape uninstall, Office updates
uninstall, etc. Absolutely NOTHING has worked.
This was part of a Studio 8 upgrade from Studio MX. I went
back and reinstalled Fireworks 6 (from Studio MX) and it works
fine, but Fireworks 8 will not work no matter what I do. I only
found one mention of a solution in a Google search to this problem
but it talked about re-installing Fireworks in Safe Mode, which is
impossible because the Windows installer won't even run in Safe
    Mode.
The only thing left to do at this point is a complete WinXP
re-installation, unless someone has a better idea?

I would definitively contact Adobe tech support on this one
