Uninstalling Firefox 5 in order to reinstall Firefox 4

Can you please give me step-by-step directions on how to uninstall Firefox 5 in order to reinstall Firefox 4? I recently upgraded and found out too late that 5 is not compatible with Roboform. I recently upgraded Roboform with Roboform Everywhere 7.3.2 and now that's not working with Firefox 5. Thanks for your help.
Donna

To uninstall Firefox 5.0 ...
# Click the orb on the Windows task bar (which brings up what is generally referred to as the Start Menu)
# Click the "Control Panel" link
# Locate and double-click the "Programs and Features" control panel
# Locate Mozilla Firefox in the list of programs that appears either double-click it. This will initiate the uninstallation process.
# Step through the uninstallation process as prompted (keep clicking Next).
Once you've done that, download Firefox Setup 4.0.1 from here ...
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/latest-4.0/win32/en-US/
NOTE: Because Firefox is temporarily no longer installed, you can use Internet Explorer to download and run the Firefox 4.0.1 setup program.

Take a look at iTunes for Windows: "Error 7" message when opening iTunes. Perhaps your .NET Framework needs a repair.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • PSE9 uninstall issues in order to reinstall

Long story, but I need to uninstall PSE 9 and then reinstall.  I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit.  I've run the uninstall program through the PC's control panel.  Didn't work.  Also tried via CCleaner and Advanced Uninstaller Pro 11.  Still didn't work.  Tried uninstalling manually through the help that was through here: Manually remove Photoshop Elements 9 | Windows  Still didn't fully uninstall.
I try reinstalling PSE9 by putting in the CD, but it tried to uninstall and then comes up with an error message:  "Error 1316. The specified account already exists."  I'm thinking because there's still some elements of PSE9 on my system that I'm unable to reinstall the program, hence why I'm trying to finish uninstalling.  I contacted Adobe through their chat help feature and they state that they don't support this version anymore.
I even tried downloading/installing the free version of PSE13 and that also didn't work.
    Need some help here.  Thanks.

okay for anyone who had the same problem as i did this is what i did.
i took everything off my computer having to do with ipod, itunes and quicktime and i removed any leftover components, then i restarted my computer and reinstalled everything from the cd which came with the ipod when i bought it. from there it told me that my library was too updated for my itunes so i deleted my library after i backed up all my songs and now i itunes works, and believe me whenever itunes tells me i need to upgrade i will never do it!!! dont fix what isnt broken!!
everythings working fine now without any help from apple! i called them multiple times talking to different people and when i told them that there program told me to update and it crashed my itunes therefore it wasnt my fault and i wasnt paying the absurd amount of 50 dollars, they just daid uh huh well then you can buy a different package for two years. i talked to three people and one of them even called me a liar. never will i buy an apple product again!
hope this helps if you have the same problem.

  • Please send instructions for correct way to UNINSTALL Firefox 5.0 and REINSTALL Firefox 3.6.3 and preserve all my cookies and bookmarks. DPGannon at sbcglobal dot net

Very simple: I do NOT want to use Firefox 5.0. I did not intend for it to be installed on this computer and need to get rid of it and go back to Firefox 3.6.3. Please send instructions on how I can do that without loosing my cookies and bookmarks.
I have been a fan and supporter of Mozilla and Firefox from the very beginning, but this latest release that appears to be a way to look like Google Chrome (that I hate) has me just about ready to hold my nose and go back to IE.
    What were you guys thinking?????
    Thank you.

Install the following Add-on until Google releases a new version of their toolbar that is compatible with Firefox 5. Google needs to test their toolbar with Firefox 5 and change one line in their code to make it compatilbe. Most Add-ons that worked with Firefox 4 should still work with Firefox 5, but the developers need to update a line in their Add-on's code to indicate with which versions of Firefox the Add-on is compatible. The following Add-on adds a "Compatibility" button in your Add-ons > Extensions that you may need to click after installing it and restarting Firefox.

  • Cannot uninstall itunes in order to reinstall

    Please Help!!
I have a windows xp dell computer. I got an ipod for christmas and so did my sister so in order to have our own seperate librarys we created two accounts on the computer. We went to install the itunes update as it prompted us to do about a month ago and after we finished we couldnt open it. it told us to install it and we did again and its just been going around in circles ever since. it wont allow us to open it at all. it keeps telling us to install the updater and thats all it will do.
i then decided that i would go into the controll pannel and delete everything having to do with ipod and itunes and reinstall it all but it wont allow me to uninstall itunes because it says there is a newer version already on the computer but i cant find it at all. i think maybe in all my attempts something got installed half way and now wont show up.
Ive been through all the posts and cant find anything at all that works. i installed and downloaded the latest versions of itunes and ipod updater but nothing seems to work. i even installed the new quick time. please help. i have no idea what to do and absolutely no computer skills. i just want my ipod back!! please anybody help!

  • Firefox stopped downloading from internet & so did Thunderbird. But MS Explorer still brings up the data. Firefox works offline. Reinstalling firefox made no difference. Help!

When I start Firefox, it fails to bring up the homepage (google.com) with the label "untitled" on the 1st tab. Clicking on any bookmarks leaves the page blank. Switching to "offline" will bring up old websites, but no "refresh". At the same time, Thunderbird stopped working with the message "Looking up pop.gmail.com" without contact.

  • TS5376 I am hopeless, my computer will not uninstall itunes so i can reinstall! i really truly do need help! can someone please give me some guidance? i have tried almost everything and it is still not working!

I really need help!!! my itunes 11.1.4 download really screwed my computer up! I have tried everything i can search for and i still cant uninstall itunes in order to reinstall. If anyone could please help me it would be muchhhhhhhhh appreaciated. Thanks!

    Carly,
I went through the same thing. Searched again for another error I was seeing and found this help from Delgadoh and this finally fixed me! He mentioned this article: iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376.  But I had not read it.  I went straight to his instructions below.
If you haven't already tried these steps:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer.
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.

  • I cannot unistall Quicktime in order to reinstall it.

I cannot find the post where all of this was explained by b noir. I had the exact same experience as the person who was having trouble uninstalling Quicktime in order to reinstall it correctly. b noir suggested that the user get rid of ACE codec. What is that? Where can I find it? Would it be on my computer?
    THANK YOU.

Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx, Xilisoft converter)
If so uninstall them, they are know to cause problems with QUicktime.
The packs normally come with an uninstaller, but I have never installed one myself so I don't have details.
Then download the version of Quickime without iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Now Remove Quicktime using the method for Quicktime in this article (just Quicktime):
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart you computer
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts.
If uninstalling Quickime fails, you need to delete the files and folders as in the uninstall method and then use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility to cleanup the Quicktime installer files.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Remove any reference you find to Quicktime. If you don't see any look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like Quicktime versions i.e. 7.x
    Then try installing Quicktime.

  • I'VE UNINSTALLED AND REINSTALLED FIREfOX 5.01 BUT DON'T GET THE RIGHT/lEFT ARROWS ON TOP OF PAGE LEFT IN ORDER TO GO BACK TO A PREVIOUS SCREEN. HOW DO I FIX THAT?

I'm using Windows XP and Firefox 5.01.

''uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox, still no back/forward arrows for navigating tab history''
Reinstalling Firefox almost never solves anything.
    see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/851574
which covers customization, corrupt local_store.rdf, and locked or damaged places.sqlite
You might try creating a bookmark backup and restoring that as opposed to renaming/deleting the places.sqlite file that was be a last resort where you lose all of your browser history.

  • I downloaded Firefox 4. Now when I try to open it keeps telling me I need to reboot my computer. I have done this and continue to get the same message. I also cannot delete from my programs in order to reinstall.

After I downloaded Firefox 4, I tried to open it and it repeatedly gives me this message "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now?" I cannot get past this message. I tried to uninstall this program in order to reinstall, but when I try to do that, I get this same message. I cannot get past this message. I don't know what to do next.

    Hi arpriltime,
Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-or-flash-plugin-crashes Flash plugin troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of useful information in there that should help you get to the bottom of your issue.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox several times. Every time I try to open Firefox I get an error message saying "Close Firefox"," A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."

I uninstall Firefox, then reinstall Firefox, try to open Firefox, and get an error message in a popup box saying,
    "Close Firefox"
"A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Firefox won't open pdf files; uninstalled and reinstalled Firefoxes, updated all extensions, etc. still getting error messages.

When I attempt to load a .pdf file, a window pops up reading "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (4:4)"
I have tried rebooting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, making sure all plug-ins are updated (they are), disabling every other plug in to see if it was interfering (they weren't -- still got same message), and reinstalling adobe reader (and flash, just for good measure).

  • How do I get rid of the blue "downloading the latest applications" bar which won't go away even after uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox?

Can't get rid of the blue "downloading the latest applications" bar that seems to be just hanging and won't go away. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but the bar is still there after 2 days. I updated something (can't remember what!) on I.E., and it had the same blue bar, but it had a box I could x out of so it went away on I.E. I don't know why the blue bar is there on Firefox, as I did the update while on I.E.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I updated an application while on Internet Explorer.

    Annette,
#In the menu bar, at the top of the Firefox window, Go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions.
    # Locate ''each ''of the following extensions by name and click the disable button
#Restart Firefox as prompted and see if the undesired toolbar has been removed.
#The extensions to disable are: '''Crawler Toolbar''', '''MP3 Rocket Toolbar''', '''MSN Toolbar''', '''Search Helper Extension'''
If you don't need some / all of those toolbars, consider leaving them disabled.
You can probably remove these toolbars permanently from Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

  • I still cannot view flash players in firefox after uninstalling and reinstalling firefox and flash multiple times. how do i fix this issue perminantly?

I can go into chrome without any issues and watch any video without any problem. the second i get into firefox nothing works. i have had this issue on and off for years. i really do not see why you cannot fix this if everybody else can. i have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and flash player multiple times. nothing seems to work. I am truly getting really tired of this same problem year after year, i stay with firefox because you are privacy conscience and are being more so consistently. i do not know what other details to tell you other than this just keeps happening and it is making it very tough to do anything on firefox when i cannot use a simple thing such as flash player. as i said, if the other browsers can fix this i see no reason why firefox cannot year after year. i hope there is a simple fix for this problem because it has basically halted a lot of my work on the net as i will no longer use google or microsoft. thank you
