Uninstalling Flash CS3
anyone has got the answer ?? i downloaded the trial version
of Adobe Flash CS3 from adobe.com and now i want to uninstall it.
As i try to uninstall it whoaaaaa ... i can't. It asks for the
original installation media. I even tried buring the setup files on
a CD but still keeps on asking for the CD.
This problem is applicable for all the CS3 products. I dont
know what's wrong with CS3s.
Dont suggest me to re-install the whole OS again.
Please anyhow I just want to uninstall CS3. It's been
something like dream for me now.. i wonder how can i uninstall ...
how can i ???
I checked my specs, and everything seems to be fine. The only things it doesn't meet are the recommendations for Adobe SpeedGrade, which I don't plan on using.

Can't Uninstall Flash CS3 Professional
Yes I've looked around the web and Adobe forums. There's a whole mess of things I'm trying to fix right now so I might as well start from top and keep it compact. Scroll down to where it says "Let's recap" if you wanna get a summary of my technical issues. It may scare away some of you, but please at least someone respond. (ps all links are put here purposefully by me)
I joined a site called newgrounds and became fascinated by flash movies there. I found a link which lead me to Flash CS3 Professional free trial download page. I installed the program without a single problem. But after installation & restarting I couldn't find flash in there at all instead I found these (screenshot). I asked for help on newgrounds, and got advice to install CS4 instead. First I attempted to uninstall CS3, but it will only let me uninstall the Flash Player 9 ActiveX Component and not the program. I looked this up and the solution seemed to be CS3Clean Script. However I have two problems: first off I can't backup my files like recommended because the backup drive doesn't have enough room, which means 7.63GB out of 10GB is somehow being used (screenshot). If I decided to run CS3Clean Script without backing up my data I'd get a message telling me I need to install Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. (screenshot) Which leads me to my second problem. When I run the file to install "Windows Installer CleanUp" (just downloaded) I get this error. What does it mean? Because I am on the Administrator's account so I don't understand why I don't have privileges.
That's all of it!
Let's recap:
+Can't Uninstall "Flash CS3 Professional" Trial
+Can't use "CS3Clean Script" to Uninstall Flash unless "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" is installed
+Can't Install "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" because of this error
Minor-ish problem slightly related---> Can't back up data in case something else goes wrong!
ps Did I scare any of y'all away yet?trimi-jareck wrote:

Clear all registry entries manually, folders and directories
then do the
installation all over again.

I have F7/F8 installed and I recently tried the CS3 trial
version but now I want to uninstall it ... BUT HOW???
I went to add/remove progs (winXP) and clicked on remove CS3
and it starts up the installer. But it only gives me a choice to
remove "some components of CS3" namely the F9 acitvex player and
the video encoder. I dont want to remove the F9 player as I am
using it in other applications (like Flex etc) the encoder can go
but there is no option to remove the whole of CS3.
Since it seemed to consume a few hundred megs when I
installed it I am desperate to remove it as I am short of disk
space
ANyone got an answer??
ThanksThere is a program Adobe created that will uninstall it. It
is a seperate download, if you search in the forum you will find
several links and uninstall docs. If you are using Windows XP,
check to see if there was a restore point created before the trial
was installed. If so, restore to the previous restore point before
the trial was installed. This will ONLY remove the registry
entries, you can then remove the files manually.
I would still use the add/remove option in control panel and
select the video encoder because if you aren't going to use the
Flash program then you don't need that anyway. I am not so sure
that it wont uninstall the main IDE software, I am not sure if you
tried to uninstall or just got to the checkbox point.
I actually uninstalled the trial software completely,
uninstalled all the plugins and encoders. I still have Studio 8 and
all the encoders and software was still installed after I
uninstalled the CS3 trials. I would have had to reinstalled the
flash plugin for IE and FF again but that only takes a few minutes.
I did go and look, after the uninstaller completed and all the
software that was installed in the program files/Adobe folder was
completely gone. I mean the CS3 trials and folders were removed.
Yes, I did do a reinstall of the full version once it arrived
but I went through the same process everyone else seems to have
gone through to remove the trials. It did work on my system, the
removal. Took forever and had to uninstall every one of the
software individually, that was a pain but it worked.
I hope this helped, if not I tried.
Thanks. -
Hey gents (and ladies),
I've downloaded the Flash CS3 Trial and my 30 day trial has
expired. When I go to uninstall it all I get is the setup
application to uninstall Flash CS3 components. I would like to
remove the whole thing! Not just components. Thanks.Hi, yes, I have an idea. I don't know what platform you are
on, but I use a Mac, and just yesterday I was having problems with
Photoshop CS3 due to the trial I had installed. Nothing worked!!!
Then I found a script on the Adobe site that removed ALL the
CS3 files for me and made things squeeky clean. Here is the link

Hope this helps.

Flash CS3 / Adobe products: crashes or acting erraticly
HI -
I recently posted a thread conserning Flash CS3 deleting the
contents or erroring out my built and working .fla's and .swf's
apon opeing them to edit the .fla's.
Suspected a virus - scanned etc etc.
an Avast boot scan showed a corrupt cab archive avast error
#42127 on a boot scan for a DW20.exe adn 4 or 5 other cab
archives... thes are all related to Visual Basic C# - the DW20 .exe
is for error reporting to MS about crashes. - thsi may be an "avast
error" - but no viruses detected.
I checking my WinXP error logs for a further clue they showed
at the time of Flash CS3 crashing when trying to preview - it was
due to FFMpeg.exe
is this something that flash implements in importing a video
file or perhaps a mpeg?
When these crashes started, i was attempting to import a .wmv
(- which btw - i thought past flash 8 there was no problems with -
it now asks for Direct Show to be installed or Quicktime.?? Maybe
someone can give an answer to this as well My understanding was
that past Flash 8 - this was no longer nessasary - if this is true
- any thoughts as to why CS3 is asking me to install these products
to import or encode a wmv file?
Back to topic: Since attempting to bring in the wmv video
and/or mpeg audio and/or the flv i was experimentiing with
- Flash not only crashes on me when attempting to open any
.fla now.
- but also destroys or corrupts all other .fla's and .swf's
in the same file folder as the one i'm working on.
My questiion is - since ffmeg is not a win exe - is this
something that Flash implements in it's importing of a video or
audio file? or at all.
I have 12 error event crashes listed from Flash - all list
the same:
" faulty application ffmeg.exe
- faulty module: ffmeg.exe
- fault address 0x001be5e3
- event id:1000
anyone have knowledge on how to fix this or what may cause
this -
I mentioned the cab errors because i'mm not sure if one is
related to the other - i had C# installed but removed it from the
comp.
as mentioned in my other post related to this - Photoshop
Lightbox is also acting complety crazy as well - all adobe products
are the ones seemly - that i know of or noticed thus far - the only
products acting up.
I need this issue fixed - as i have to finish my fla! lol
I'd much rather be doing that than trouble shooting crashes
from Flash or other Adobe products acting up.
Any help would really be appriciated since this goes beyond
my skills and knowledge.
thanxSure wish I had a quick fix, but it will take more info than
what you have entered. I was having a lot of trouble also, until I
did the 5 tasks listed below.
1. Is there enough memory for Flash CS3? Setup tells you how
much and if you have enough to install the program.
2. Is there enough storage space for Flash CS3? Again, Setup
tells you how much it needs and if ;you have enough to install the
program.
3. How many files do you have on your hard disk? The amount
of directories and files on your hard disk matters a great deal
when you are installing new programs. I usually go through my c:\
directory and get rid of programs I don't use. I try to keep my
folders and files at the lowest I can get away with.
4. When was the last time you cleaned and defragged the
registry?
This matters a great deal too. If you have an overabundance
of empty registry keys, etc. it can hang up your computer too. I
use RegCure, it's a great program.
5. When was the last time you did a defrag on C:\? Many
people don't realize that just these 5 tasks can have a bad effect
on your hard drive.
It would be a great thing if you uninstall Flash CS3, do
tasks 1-5 and then reinstall Flash CS3. Seems like a lot of work,
but it is extremely important to keep your computer running at its
best.
hope this helps.

Error publishing Air in Flash CS3
Hi All
On the Adobe Air Flash CS3 wiki page
http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/AIR:Flash_CS3_Professional_Update:Getting_Started_wit h_AIR_for_Flash_CS3_Professional)
I found a simlpe tutorial "Creating an Adobe AIR application
in Flash"
I thought well this can't be hard can it?
However when I use the Publish Air File button in the 'AIR -
Applications and Installer Settings' window I will get the
following error:
"namespace is invalid in the application descriptor file"
Now I have tried to look into the XML file but I cannot see
any problems.
I also tried to use the descriptor-template.xml which came
with the Air - SDK
However also that will not work.
Has anyone got an idea why I get this error?Hi FragFood!
I received the same error "Namespace is invalid in the
application descriptor file" repeatedly on many computers
(XP/Vista) and here is how i repeatedly worked around it.
I made a step-by-step sheet explaining exactly how to install
Flash CS3 (9.0) with the Latest Flash Player (v9.0.124), and with
Adobe AIR (1.0) as of today (3/May/2008).
If you have already installed Flash CS3
Uninstall Flash CS3
Goto all the "Program Data" folders, RENAME/DELETE the "en"
folder
Goto "Program Files" folder, RENAME/DELETE the "en" folder
Now to get the latest version of Flash CS3 installed!
Please follow these steps exactly; each one is extremely
important.

To test your AIR installation... (Optional)
Open Flash

Click OK on the message that appears
File > Save, Save it someplace with any name

I am trying to now uninstall Flash CS3 and I receive the
following error.
"Critical errors were found in setup
- Unsupported payload versions included
- The installer database is invalid: please reinstall the
product from the original media.
Please see Setup log file for details."
Any help please.
nowIt's funny. I checked the code from the book, it does not have it imported, but it still works. When I complete the code without the import, it works.
When I do add the import (which is the first thing I did when the errors were thrown) while building the code, it removes that error, but the same 1120's are there. I checked the properties of the components to make sure they are runtime, and also the properties of the actionscript is runtime, so what is it?
All of the more complex examples in the book are throwing these errors while building the code. The problem is, how do I check my code while creating it... That's why when I found this post "http://forums.adobe.com/message/2844566#2844566" I replied. -
Flash CS3 Updates Silent Install
Are there any switches to silently install
flash9_en_us_9_0_2_update.exe? And there is no Control Panel item
to uninstall Flash CS3 9.0.2? When CS3 get's uninstalled it leaves
files that were updated by 9.0.2. Where can I get an uninstaller
for it?Okay... I'm becoming extremely upset and impatient with
Adobe. I cannot install this download of the free trial for Flash
if it were to save my life...
I have tried changing permissions to my registry keys,
installing in Safe Mode (the installer didn't allow me to install
in safe mode), installing in VGA mode (which was much harder than I
think installing anything should have been, not being able to see
the buttons to carry on and having to click Tab and hoping u have
selected "Next"), installing it while turning off every single
application except for the Windows ones, running the Adobe CS3
cleanup script, defragmenting my disk, and even trying System
Restore...
So far nothing has worked... For some reason that installer
window will NOT appear. The progress bar mentioned in my first post
shows up, but after it finishes loading it disappears and I never
see the installation screen, no warning, error message, or
anything. My computer carries on idly...
Please... Some please help me. If you know of something which
I have not tried yet please tell me. There is no way I'm going to
buy Flash if I can't even install the free trial... I might as well
try to get Flash 8 somewhere or maybe even try to find a freeware
program with similar capabilities... I cannot stress how
dissapointed I am right now and I hope no one else has to go
through such hassles during their installations.
Again, someone, PLEASE help me.
I do not believe the problem is in my computer... I have run
a virus scan and I have nothing infected. I have seen the window
before on the first time I tried to install Flash, but the download
was corrupted and I had to uninstall it... I never saw that window
again...
Please... help... me... I've lost so much of my time trying
to install this program... -
Can't get rid of Flash CS3 Trial !
I did a search first, no real solutions in prior posts that I
could see. Searched the rest of Adobe too.. no solutions found that
apply.
In January I downloaded and installed the Flash CS3 Trial.
I'm not going to buy it, so now that the trial has expired, I want
it OFF my machine. I ran it thru the usual Add/Remove Programs.
Well, my machine rebooted (I was doing something else at the time
and never did see any prompts to reboot from the installer
program), but when it came back up the Flash CS3 trial
was still there ! So, I tried the add/remove again - only
this time the only thing it would uninstall are the Flash Player
and the Flash Player 9 ActiveX component ! NO choice to get rid of
the actual program.
What do I have to do to get this program OFF my hard drive ?
There's no other uninstall program, the add/remove programs is
useless, and the only thing even close for getting rid of it was
some CS3clean script - which was apparently meant for deleting the
early BETA versions.
How can Adobe NOT supply an uninstall mechanism other than
add/remove programs - most other software I've ever used does
!!Thanks, wasn't sure about that. It's not a problem, Flash CS3
is the ONLY CS3 product on my machine. I have Studio 8 currently
installed, and CS2 Suite too, so hopefully that won't be trashed. -

Hey!
I've got a MacBook (about a year old), and when i'm trying to
install adobe flash cs3 i get 2 errors, the installation completes
but "Adobe Flash CS3 and Adobe Asset Services CS3" failed to
install..
I've tried with the free trial and the full version (design
premium cs3.
What to do??I fixed it myself with the CS3 clean script. I seems the
ruins of Photoshop CS3 beta were all over the place (even though
that never worked and i uninstalled it with the uninstaller). Whats
with the nick name? There has to be some reason why these apps get
twice as large every time they update, and installation gets ever
more painful. Loving the Flash though, native at last. -
Flash CS3 + Air 1.0 = no test?
I just installed the new AIR 1.0 plug-in for Flash CS3. I've
been developing an AIR app in Beta3 and when I open one of my FLAs
since the update, I can't test or debug my movie from within Flash.
Is this no longer supported? or have I botched that really
annoying 4,000 step
"uninstall/manuallydeleteabunchoffiles/install/butdon'tinstallthisbeforethat/nowyoumayins tall"
process?
Any help on how to remedy the problem would be greatly
appreciated...jcedens,
Please try deleting the application descriptor file
(swfname-app.xml) that is in the same directory as your swf, then
test movie again. The problem is because the xml file is of a Beta
format. Another way to reset it to the release format is to open
the application and installer settings dialog. Also make sure
adl.exe is not running in the processes (ctrl alt del, select Task
Manager > Processes).
Thanks,

Flash CS3 hanging & Not responding
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with trying to import an .ai (CS3) file
with strokes to Flash CS3.
Whenever I try and import a complex (730 shapes) .ai file
with strokes, Flash just hangs and becomes unresponsive. I can
however import the same complex .ai file without strokes defined.
I can also import less complex (7 shapes) .ai files with
strokes defined.
Has anyone experienced similar issues and found a fix?
Many thanks, Rich
