Uninstalling iStat Pro

I have been having the same problem with my MBP not waking up from sleep. How do I uninstall iStat Pro? Thanks!

Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.

  • IStat Pro Problem!

    Hey so I just recently noticed that under the Network column on the iStat widget it says "Ext: Unknown." It's supposed to display my router's IP. So apparently iStat says my external IP is unknown. I think it may have to do with me installing the Tor bundle for Mac. I have uninstalled Tor and tried reinstalling iStat and I'm still having the problem. Anyone know how to fix this? Please help!

    Here's one way to fix this problem, as it appears the islayer has stopped running the "FindMyIP" service:
    Open this file in a code editor:
    ~/Library/Widgets/iStat\ Pro.wdgt/scripts/core.js
    find this function:
    function getExtIP(){
    Replace this line:
    ipURL = 'http://whatsmyip.islayer.com/?random='+new Date().getTime();
    with this line:
    ipURL = 'http://www.whatsmyip.us/showipsimple.php?random='+new Date().getTime();
    Just above this "if" statement:
    if(extIP.length < 20 && ipConnection.status == 200 && extIP.match(/\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}/)){
    Add these 2 lines:
    extIP_len = extIP.length;
    extIP = extIP.substring(16, (extIP_len - 3));
    so that section would now appear:
    extIP = ipConnection.responseText;
    extIP_len = extIP.length;
    extIP = extIP.substring(16, (extIP_len - 3));

    Note that you will have to restart the iStat widget by either using "-" and "+" to re-add it, or just hold down Command-R while clicking on a Widget.  They'll spin like a black hole and restart.

  • Uninstalling Soundtrack Pro and Loops

    With the recent purchase of a MacBook Pro I also acquired the Final Cut Studio HD. I have run out of space on my local hard drive and in the process of cleaning it off and moving programs and files to an external I am looking to delete Soundtrack Pro and all of the Loops that come with that program.
    What I am wondering is the best and safest way to remove these files without affecting the rest of the Final Cut Suite.
    So if someone can clue me in on the best way to uninstall Soundtrack Pro, Soundtrack Loops, Motion and any program with Final Cut HD without affecting the others I would really appreciate it.
    In a related question are the bundled software programs such as iPhoto and GarageBand located on any discs that come with the computer or would uninstalling them leave me without the option to reinstall them at a later date?

    iPhoto and GarageBand are on the Install discs.
    Get the external drive and move your Final Cut files (not the app) there.
    I imagine it uses lots and lots of space when editing. so make sure you clear out everything after you finish a project.

    i went to the apple store today and downloaded istat pro on the mba and it was the one with the solid state drive it said the temp was 30 degrees ferenhight yes ferenhight it in celcus it says 0 and it said fan speed - 200 so islayer needs to update istat pro this is just a heads up

    Please note the spelling and the fact that both Fahrenheit and Celsius are temperature scales. "Fahrenheit Celsius" makes no sense.
    Now to your situation: iStat Pro works fine with my MBA (HD version). You may want to ensure you are running the latest iStat version for Leopard, or try reinstalling it.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 & XI both installed on Mac. How can I uninstall Acrobat Pro 9 & not affect Acrobat XI?

    Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Acrobat Pro XI are installed on the same iMac with OS X 10.8.5.  How do I safely uninstall only Acrobat Pro 9 without affecting Acrobat Pro XI?
    When I first installed Acrobat Pro XI, I thought maybe I was suppose to leave Acrobat Pro 9 on my computer.
    So now I have both Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Acrobat Pro 11 installed.
    I see no benefit to having both installed. I want to uninstall only the Acrobat Pro 9 and not Acrobat Pro XI.
    I am not sure that I can safely uninstall Acrobat Pro 9 without affecting the functioning and files for Acrobat Pro XI.
    I started to uninstall Acrobat 9, but I stopped when I saw a warning in a little window.
    I went to the  "Acrobat Uninstaller.app"  file in the  "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro"  folder and double clicked it.
    The Acrobat folder for Acrobat XI Pro came up with the file "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app" selected
    I manually selected the  "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app"  file in the  "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro" folder.
    When I clicked on "Adobe Acrobat Pro.app" for Acrobat 9  a window with a warning came up. So I stopped.
    "Uninstall will remove files, folders, and preferences installed by Acrobat from your system.
    There is no undo available. User data files and directories shared by other Adobe applications will not be removed."
    Should I go ahead and click [Uninstall]?
    I don't think it will delete my pdf files.
    Will this affect my Acrobat XI operating &/or preferences? Will Acrobat XI still function correctly?
    What do I have to do to safely have just Acrobat XI on my computer without Acrobat 9?

  • Istat Pro "Processes" doesn't work since upgrade to OS X 10.8.2

    Ever since I upgraded the OS to 10.8, the istat Pro widget on the dashboard doesn't list anything but a stack of empty white squares under "Processes". Is this a known bug?

    Change "PID|$1" to "PID| $1" (Add space before $ sign)
    5. Save the changes
    6. remove widget and re-add it Dashboard, and it should be fixed

  • IStat Pro, SMC fan control and tempuratures

    I've been watching the recent temp. problem threads with great interest.
    My Imac has had no operational flaws *knock wood* but I'm a bit concerned with the temps which iStat Pro is reporting. For instance;
    CPU A 103 F.
    CPU diode 133 F.
    Ambient 79 F.
    Memory Control 112 F.
    HD Bay 1 103 F.
    Optical Drive 94 F.
    WDC WD1600 etc etc, (the hard drive I presume), 99 F.
    Most of these temps seem pretty darned high to me. OR, am I mistaken and they are not out of line?
    Running SMC fan control at about 1/2 way up on all 3 sliders brings these temps down considerably, but I hate to "over rev" the fans and hasten their demise if I don't have to.
    I'll appreciate your thoughts.

  • IStat Pro widget shows gradual increase in RAM usage

    I have the iStat Pro widget on my dashboard. every time i open up the dashboard, it shows that i have less and less RAM free, which obviously worries me, since whenever I open up dashboard i am idle; im not doing anything besides reading a webpage, or just charging my iPod. I would understand if there is less RAM while i am working with my pictures, but it does worry me. Please help, anyone that can, I greatly appreciate the help :-)!

    Any running process on the Mac may consume more RAM over time. Safari and other browsers especially will use more RAM over time. However, free RAM is misleading as an indicator of whether you're running out of memory. Available RAM is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. Although you may notice that Free RAM may decrease over time, you still have plenty of available RAM when you include Inactive RAM. See the following:

    The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.

    How do I uninstall Adobe Pro IV?  I signed up for 2 months while on a project and now cant open a PDF.  Is it becaues in the fine print you have to pay for a years licence as a miniumum (which I only realised after I signed up)so I need to pay for the other 10 months before I can go back to adobe reader only?

    I'm guessing it must be XI (11) since IV (4) didn't have a Pro version.
    If you've signed up for a year, then you will need to pay for the year, but that won't stop you uninstalling it if you really want to use Reader instead.
    If so, if you are on Windows uninstall with the Programs Control Panel in the usual way. DO NOT DELETE FILES TO UNINSTALL.

  • Uninstalled Acrobat Pro (part of CS 5.5 Design Standard) and now need to reinstall. How??

    I am so confused. I have CS 5.5 Design Standard running on a Windows 7 computer. I have the serial number. The problem is, I stupidly uninstalled Acrobat Pro and now need to reinstall it. What do I do? I downloaded Acrobat Pro X from the download link on the Adobe site but it won't take my serial number. I am guessing because the serial number pertains to the entire Creative Suite, not just Acrobat.

  • Istat pro exhuast fan reading 0rpm

    I have a 13 inch MacBook that I got in 2011, not an Air or a Pro. But by fan was making a strange noise (starting just two days ago) it was almost like a purring, but I was sure that it was my fan. About three hours ago I opened it up and it wasn't making the noise anymore so I was concerned  as to whether or not my fan was working at all. So I downloaded Istat pro, and in the fans category, it has one spot for the exhaust which reads 0rpm. I started freaking out, thinking that my fan has failed, but for the past few hours now the temp of the CPU and pretty much everything else has stayed between 30 and 55 degrees Celcius? I kind of freaking out here, because I don't know what this means.
    Any tips, comments, suggestions are appreciated!
    (My battery does need to be replaced, if that info helps any.)

    Run the Apple hardware test to see if it shows any sensor or hardware issues.  When prompted, run the extended test, which can take over an hour to run.

    I uninstalled Premeire Pro CC last week. Shortly after, my computer had a bug that wouldn't allow me to restart without restoring myPC to an earlier point. This re-installed Premeire, but now I can't uninstall it. I get this message: Uninstall failed. Your uninstallation encountered errors.(No error number is given.)
    Running Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion g series laptop.
    I never use this program and it's slowing down my computer. Tips?

    Run the cleaner script, reinstall and then uninstall. Won't fix your problem, though. Programs that are not launched do not consume any processing power or memory. Your slowdown has another cause, which could by all means be the mess that triggered the system restore in teh first place - flakey drivers, incompatible apps, misbehaving security tools or simple lack of overall "juice" on your system.

  • Cannot uninstall Premiere pro.

    I have tried to uninstall Adobe Premiere Pro, as I need to re-install it  because something stopped working on it.
    I go to my control panel, uninstall a program and chose to uninstall Premiere Pro.  It keeps telling me
    "Uninstall Failed.
    Your uninstallation encountered errors. 
    Troubleshooting tips:
    1. Restart your computer (I did this a few times already).
    2. Exit all applications including startup items, virus checking firewall and software.(Nothing of Adobe is running)
    3. Uninstall again  (Didn't get to uninstiall in the first place.  Still won't uninstall)
    You may also download and run the Cleaner Tool ( which I tried to do, it STILL won't uninstall). If the problem still persists, contact customer support for further assistance."
    I have tried to contact customer support, but it won't let me get in contact with a person! It takes me here, to the forums.
    Can someone PLEASE help me figure out how to uninstall this!

    I've got a new computer and I want to uninstall Quicktime Pro 7.4.5 and then install on the new system. Maybe I'm overlooking something, but a bunch of other applications have easy 'uninstall' functions right in the application toolbar. Why doesn't Quicktime?????

    I've read that Q/T is not just a simple application but in reality, a major component of the OS. This is where it varies from other similar acting apps like WMV, AVI, FLV etc. To butress this statement, in a vague way, I remember seeing a graphic of the Mac OS when Apple was first pushing "X". QuickTime was in the same general area of depth in programming as UNIX.
    So, you might not want to delete all of QuickTime just the Reg Key which should/could/might put you back to the non Q/T Pro functionality and thence legal to install on another machine.
    Just be certain that the version on the new machine is the same as on the old machine or expect to buy a new $30 key.

    You can kill these 2 task by opening the Windows Task manager (CTRL+ALT+SUPPR)
    Then find the processes named :
    Adobe QT32 Server
    Adobe Dynamic Link Manager
    Kill theses 2 tasks (right click then END OF TASK)
    If you got many of theses tasks, kill each.
    Then uninstall Premiere. It should be OK
