Uninstalling iTunes when network is no longer available

How do I uninstall iTunes completely when it used to have a network drive as a path for the music? I have removed that network and now can't re-install iTunes because it tries to check back in with the network drive. It's no longer available and I cannot completely remove iTunes so I can re-install it. ITunes is no longer on my add/remove programs list in the control panel.
Someone please help!

Thanks for the reply although I'm not too happy to hear it.  What's awesome about the cloud is no longer having to keep up with any physical media.  The promise of that is realized with everything else (my work, music, books) besides movies and TV.
I wonder how Google Play will handle movies/tv that becomes unavailable?  Google Play does allow you to download media in some circumstances (on Android and iOS) but is generally intended  for streaming.  Maybe relying on a physical copy as I do with iTunes should make me more comfortable with it and not less.
I will come back to mark your reply as the solution as it becomes clear there is not a contrary position.  Thank you.

  • Time Capsule: "Network name no longer available" error when copying files

    Hi!
I've come upon this error when trying to copy files from my PC to Time Capsule:
    "Network name no longer available".
This seems to happen only on folders that have image sequences in them (.sgi image sequences).
I was planning on transferring the content of my PCs hard drive to Time-Machine in order to smooth out the migration from my old PC to my new MBP but I have to say that I'm a little less confident about using TC as a storage space for my valuable files.
Is there a work around for this? I have tons of folders with .sgi image sequences and it would be a real shame not to be able to transfer them to Time Capsule.
    Please help!

Hi… I don’t think there should be any such limitation for the file transfer wirelessly. However it can be issue, as you wired is connect at a speed of 100 Mbps and wireless connects to the max at 54 Mbps. Try to upgrade the firmware. Also try reducing Fragmentation Threshold and RTS threshold by 40 each under advance wireless settings on the router. Go to www.speedguide.net, and download the TCP optimizer. Try reducing the MTU of your wireless adapter. Please Revert Back, even if this resolves your issue.

I have an iphone 2g unlocked for tmobile.  For the past 2 years it has worked fine then out of no where I get this message "your selected cellular network is no longer available" and the service cuts in and out all day.  It can't find tmobile on my phone for some reason but for 2 years previous it could no problem?  tmobile says it is a problem with my phone and not their service.
    Any ideas what to do?

I would just explain that this just started happening, that nothing has changed on the phone, that it is an original iPhone and I wondered if they are implementing a change in coverage with their Edge network in my area.
If you restore your phone, you will be given an option to back up your phone at the beginning of the process (see step 6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414).  You will be given the option to restore to that backup at the end of the restore process.  Your messages are stored in the backup so restoring to the backup will return the messages to your phone.  Be sure to import your photos and videos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) and back up your contacts somewhere before restoring your phone as these sometimesget lost in the restore process.

  • How to Uninstall iTunes when not in Add/Remove

How do you uninstall iTunes when it does not appear in Add/Remove programs. For the record, I have used the Window Install Clean-up Utility as described in another thread. Although iTunes appeared in the utilities' list, and seemed to process my request to uninstall (it disappeared from the list), all iTunes program files still remain on my computer, and the icon still appears on my desktop.
    Thanks - Jeff.

    I figured it out.

  • How do i burn a DVD on my MacBookPro OSX 10.9.1 when iDVD is no longer available?

How do you burn a movie from iMovie on a MacBookPro OSX10.9.1 when iDVD is no longer available?

    Buy iDVD.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 to 10.9.2)

  • ITunes Plus upgrading - "item no longer available"

I'm having trouble upgrading song to iTunes Plus.
Specifically, when I attempt to upgrade my library, I get a dialog box saying "The item you tried to buy is no longer available."
I have verified that all of the iT+ eligible songs/albums ARE available, and show up when selected in the iTunes Store.
So I thought maybe my tags were different from the ones on the iTunes Store. But after going in to iTunes and manually matching the tags on the music in my Purchased library to exactly match the tags of the tracks listed in the iTunes Store's 'Upgrade' area, I STILL get the 'Item not found' message and am unable to upgrade ANY of the eligible tracks. This is really annoying.
Why can't iTunes upgrade the ones that CAN be found?
Anyone have a workaround or solution to this problem?

I downloaded and installed the 7.2 upgrade on my laptop at work. I logged into the Apple store and went to the DRM-Free section. iTunes searched the songs on my laptop and presented me with a list of songs/albums that could be upgraded. I chose not to upgrade them because all of my music is on my desktop machine at home.
When I got home I did the upgrade and went back to the store. There is no option to rescan my library and when I do try to upgrade the songs I found, I get the following message:
"The item you tried to buy is no longer available.
The availability of the item changed while you were using the store. The same item may be available with a different price or elsewhere on the store."
At this point I guess I cannot upgrade my library or rescan it to upgrade the much larger list. I hope they fix this bug because I'm not going to upgrade just a portion of my songs and then pay full price for the rest of them.
Has anyone else seen this happen or knows of a way to resolve it?
I forgot to add that I am in the US.

  • HT203167 Songs loaded to iTunes with my CDs no longer available....why?

I have added music via CD to my iTunes library and now they are no longer available.  when i try to play the songs, i get an error "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found.  Would you like to locate it?"  I choose "locate" on the error but it takes me to the browser to find the song and it's not there.  When upgrading to new versions of iTunes, do these songs get lost/dropped??

Upgrading iTunes does not cause media to disappear from the computer.
The message is telling you that the media is not where iTunes expects it to be.  Either the user or some software on the computer moved (or deleted) the media.  No one here can tell you where that media is.  Find it on your computer or rip the CDs again.

  • I can't seem to download anything on my iTunes when I use Check for available downloads. I have preorders that I can't download cos it just says 'iTunes store temporarily unavailable' even tho when I actually go on iTunes itself it work fine..

I've been in contact with Apple support team regarding this issue. I have about 9 items available for download(preorders mostly) but it's not listed under download. When I click on Check for available download, a message with 'iTunes temporarily unavailable' appears but when I go to the iTunes store itself, its working just fine. I've already been charged twice for the same movie which Apple have kindly refunded me for one of them but I still haven't managed to download that movie yet. Apple says its a problem with my computer and given me all sort of ways to rectify the issue and still no hope. Everything else seems to work just fine including the actual iTunes store, wifi syncing and cable syncing etc. Can somebody help me with this if you know how to solve this problem or if you've had the same issue now or before?
I am using the latest Software updates on my iTunes and these 9 items were purchased whilst on this new updates

    Launch iTunes on your computer.
From the menu bar click iTunes > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click Reset warnings and Reset cache
    Click OK.
    Restart your computer, launch iTunes.
Click Store > Check for Available Downloads...

  • How to get back purchased music when computers are no longer available...

We were hit by lightning, again, and lost my wife's Bondi iMac. Those of you who know them realize that they didn't come with CD burners...so we didn't back up her music purchases. In addition, I recently lost my job. The music I purchased on my work computer was purged while I was getting my pink slip. So, I was unable to back it up as well.
So, we have a handful of songs that we purchased on other computers that are no longer available to us. I emailed Apple a couple weeks ago and have not received any answer on how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated.

You have posted on the iTunes for Windows forum
If you have tracks on an iPod then this post which covers macs as well may help:

I am afraid Apple has a download once policy, but you have done the right thing contacting them as I understand they they will occasionally make an exception in special circumstances and allow another download.
Here is a link to an iTunes store contact page, but I expect you have that already:

  • Is it safe to delete iTunes media that is no longer available in the iTunes Store?

There is a support document that states it is OK to delete content locally so long as the content is available in the cloud depending on your geographic location.  As I'm in the US all media types are available.  From the document:
You can delete items that you bought from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store from your iOS device, Mac, or PC. Because Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) plays content from the cloud, you don't need to delete items from your Apple TV.
Before you delete an item, make sure you can download it again. If you can't or need to pay to download it again, back up the item before you delete it.
What I am still not clear on is if it is also safe to delete content that is no longer available in the iTunes store?  Will it still be available for previous purchases?
I prefer the quality and off-line availability of iTunes media over Google Play but I've had issues recovering deleted media in iTunes in the past and so have less anxiety about the security of my purchases on Google Play versus iTunes.  Can someone confirm if items no longer available for sale in iTunes are or are not still available via the cloud?

Thanks for the reply although I'm not too happy to hear it.  What's awesome about the cloud is no longer having to keep up with any physical media.  The promise of that is realized with everything else (my work, music, books) besides movies and TV.

  • When will the no longer available channel go away?

I saw a noticed a couple of days ago that we where going to lose a channel.  Now the channel still appears on my guide, but the programming says "Channel No Longer Available."  How long will it be listed on my guide before it drops off?
Also, when is the guide updated?  Is it done at night when the box is in stand-by mode?

It could be they are leaving it there as a place holder and a reminder that the channel has been removed. A few local channels were removerd on Dec. 31 and I believe Antenna TV is going to be taking its place. VHO 4 said on or after Jan 4.

  • I have recently used iTunes to subscribe to some Podcasts flawlessly. Then suddenly, I could see the latest Podcasts in iTunes, but they were no longer available on my 160GB Classic. All other functions appear ok. Can anyone out there save me from myself

Help ! I have recently used iTunes to subscribe to some Podcasts flawlessly. Then suddenly, I could only view the latest downloaded Podcasts in my iTunes account. I no longer had any Podcasts on my 160GB Classic. Can anyone save me from me ? I would truely appreciate any suggestions or direction. Thank you.    [email protected]

Connect your iPod to iTunes and check on the Device/Podcasts pane; there are several options for which Podcasts are "kept on/left on" the iPod at each Sync. Are they set the way you want? For instance, if the setting is "to keep on the iPod only new Podcasts", that would cause older Podcasts to be removed.
If you need to chnage the setting, you will need to Sync the iPod afterwards for the change to take effect.

  • Time Machine Network drive no longer available

I have an iomega network drive with 2 TBs of storage.  I originally set it up as my Time Machine (TM) back-up device
and it had been working for several months.  Then it filled up and would no longer do any back-ups.
I changed the back-up device to a USB external, did a back-up to it and then went and deleted all of the old
back-ups on the networkd drive.  Then I tried to switch the back-up device to the network drive again
and even though the network drive is accessible in Finder, it does not show up as a drive option
in the Time Machine preferences.  How do I make it available again.
    I am running OS X version 10.7.5.

    Hi Richard,
Did you delete the older stuff in Finder, or in TM itself?
Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?

Can't imaging something not being covered there.

  • Trying to redownload a song previously purchased in iTunes but it's no longer available?

    Hi there!
I downloaded a song in 2009, and when I got a new computer in the summer of 2012, I redownloaded all my music to that new computer.  That specific song when played, isn't the song that it should be.  I thought I might try re-downloading the song from iTunes but the song from the album I had purchased it off of is no longer there.  Any suggestions?  I know it's not much to get worried about but I was just wondering if there was an easy fix!  Thanks!

Never rely upon the iTunes Store to always have your purchases.  Always keep a copy of everything safe on a backup drive at home.
