Uninstalling IWork '06

I downloaded the trial version if IWork 08, and dragged the iWork 06 folder from my Applications folder to the Trash; however, when I right click on PowerPoint (PPT) files and select Open With from the contextual menu I still have the older version of Keynote listed. How can I FULLY uninstall prior versions of iWork?

Kyn,
You are brilliant, or I am still too much of a Mac novice. Probably a little of each. After empyting the trash, I no longer see reference to the prior version of Keynote when right clicking and selecting Open With.
Thank you for helping me to resolve this matter and keep my Mac organzied and clean.

    hi Anselm
to get rid of the fragments of the broken installation, you just have to drop the directories 'SAP' and 'sapdb' and then run <a href="http://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/softwaredownload?download=/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/business_packages/a1-8-4/nw/regcleantools.rar">registry clean tool</a>.

That doesn't sound like a wise thing to have done.
At this point having lost your software purchase, the quickest way will be to purchase and install it from the Mac App Store. It is not expensive and can then be installed on multiple Macs using the same Apple I.D.

  • Uninstall iWork '08 before installing iWork '09?

What's the official / recommended way of doing things? Are you supposed to uninstall iWork '08 before installing iWork '09. I installed iWork '09 on a MacBook, but it didn't replace iWork '08. It installed alongside it.
Is there a proper way of uninstalling iWork '08, or do you simply drag the iWork '08 folder (containing the 3 apps) to the Trash?

You're not going to find an "official" way to delete from the other users here, but we can give our recommendations. Uninstalling is as easy as dragging the whole iWork '08 folder to the Trash & emptying the Trash. You can also use some third-party app deleting programs such as AppZapper.
For the moment, I have iWork '06, '08 & '09 installed on my MacBook Pro. I'm waiting for my boxed version of iWork '09 to arrive before installing it on my iMac. I want to see how installing from the CD/DVD is different than installing over the trial. I have not had '08 & '09 both open at the same time yet, but I have had '06 & '08 open at the same time in the past.

  • Installing iWork 09.... Do I need to uninstall iWork 08 ??

I have just bought iWork 09 and would like to know if I need to uninstall iWork 08 (delete /applications/iWork08 folder) first or will iWork 09 just update the old iWork 08?

I installed iWork 09, and now have two folders (08 & 09) under Applications. I don't want the 08 anymore. Do I simply delete the iWork 08 folder, end of story. Or do I also need to do anything with the Library and Application Support and Preference folders (main and under my name)?

  • How do I uninstall iWork '08 Trial?

I installed iWork '08 Trial to test the apps.
I would like to cleanly, completely uninstall iWork '08 Trial. The installer doesn't have an uninstall option.
    What's the Apple-recommended process.
Examination with Pacifist shows that there are items that may interfere with iLife '08 if I remove them. (iLifeMediaBrowser, GraphicsAppSupport, ImageKit_Tiger).
    Please advise.

There is no need to remove the trial of iWork to install the retail version. All you need to do is click "Buy" on the trial & enter your serial number to convert it to a "non-expiring" version. There is no difference in the content of the trial or the boxed versions.
If you're wanting to remove the iWork trial because you have decided you don't want iWork (as I read the OP's post), dragging the iWork '08 folder to the Trash is a start. Then do a Spotlight search for "iWork" to find the .plist files to delete.

  • How to uninstalling iWorks

I just downloaded the trial of iWork 09 and gave Pages a go on some key Word documents, however it lacks compatibility with features I need, such as "paragraph boarders". Oh well - I'll just keep using NeoOffice.
Apple's try before you buy is a big winner with me!
My only question is, how should I Uninstall iWorks?

After the fun, back to a serious version.
This time I used French_like names of variables.
It's my preferred choice because they will never conflict with reserved words.
set dossierdesfichiers to path to preferences folder from local domain as Unicode text
    set listedefichiers to {"com.apple.iWork09.Installer.plist", "com.apple.iWork09.plist"}
    tell application "System Events"
    repeat with un_fichier in listedefichiers
    try
delete disk item (dossierdesfichiers & un_fichier)
    end try
    end repeat
    end tell
set dossierdesfichiers to path to library folder from local domain as Unicode text
    set listedefichiers to {"Application Support:iWork '09", "Receipts:iWork09Trial.pkg"}
    tell application "System Events"
    repeat with un_fichier in listedefichiers
    try
delete disk item (dossierdesfichiers & un_fichier)
    end try
    end repeat
    end tell
set dossierdesfichiers to path to applications folder from local domain as Unicode text
    tell application "System Events"
    try
delete disk item (dossierdesfichiers & "iWork '09")
    end try
    end tell
set dossierdesfichiers to path to preferences folder from user domain as Unicode text
    set listedefichiers to {"com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist", "com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist", "com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist"}
    tell application "System Events"
    repeat with un_fichier in listedefichiers
    try
delete disk item (dossierdesfichiers & un_fichier)
    end try
    end repeat
    end tell
During numerous centuries they where conflicts between French and English.
    In AppleScript, it's *_Entente cordiale_*

  • Had to uninstall iWork trial since I bought the pages app and it wouldn't let me print or save.  Now the app store says I have pages installed but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it.  I'm not very computer savvy and am getting frustrated!

Ooops, guess I didn't need to post everything in the title - sorry!  I bought the pages app - but couldn't save or print so with some online searching found that I had to uninstall the iWork trial which had expired.  I did that - but now I can't figure out how to re-install the pages app!!  The app store says it's installed, but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it.  I'm not very computer savvy - and am a first time Mac user and am getting extremely frustrated!  I e-mailed some help center and they can't seem to help me either.  I would appreciate any help/advice that can fix my problem - thanks in advance!!

OK Apple has stuffed up the demo version upgrade process so the first thing you need to do is get rid of the demo.
That includes getting rid of the files in the system.
The instructions how to do that are here:
Note That where you see / that is the sequence of folders, each nested inside each other.
    User/Library/Preferences the com.apple.iwork.Keynote.plist
Means the User (you, the little home icon, whatever you are called on your computer) then the Library folder inside that and then the Preferences folder inside that.
Lion initially hides the System folders from you so you have to go to the Finder > Menu > hold down the option key and click on GO > Library to see it.

  • How to uninstall iWork '06

Now that I have iWork '08, how do I uninstall the old Pages and Keynote in iWork '06? Can I just drag it to the Trash?
    Bruce

It does seem that most of the journal templates from Pages 1 & 2 aren't included in Pages 3. If you want them to be available in Pages 3, you could do what I did. I opened the Pages 2 package (Control- or right-click on the application icon & choose show package contents from the contextual menu) & found the templates in Content > Resources > English > Templates & then copied the Journals folder to HD > Users > your account > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates & they now show up under My Templates in the Template Chooser.

  • Uninstall iWork 05?

Okay, so I've bitten the bullet and upgraded to iWork 06. So far so good. Question is, what should I do with the previous version that's just sitting there? I'm not exactly short of hard drive space, but it seems untidy to leave it there when I won't ever need it again. Is there an uninstall utility I can use on it, or will just deleting the iWork folder in my applications be enough?

    iMac G517"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Garth,
I can't imagine a use for it. Any file you created in iWork '05 should open nicely in one of the iWork '06 programs. You can just drag the '05 folder to the trash, assuming you've moved out all the files you want to save. There are also some '05-specific .plist files you can trash.

  • Uninstalling iWork '05

I have just purchased iWork '06 and installed it - the install process does not provide the opportunity to uninstall '05. What is the right process to uninstall '05? Thanks

Throw the 05 folder in the trash?
I suggest keeping it around though. There are times that you might need to fire something up in K2, resave it and then open in K3 (some of the 3rd party K1 themes out there have bugs in them when opening in K3 directly).

  • Uninstall iwork 06

I'm new to the world of macs. I just installed iwork 08, and I notice my trial version of iwork 06 is still there in the application folder. What's the safest way to uninstall? Is it just a matter of deleting them?
    thanks

    runningman,
Yeah, you can drag stuff to trash, but it'll leave behind some files -- not that it's a big cause for concern. Being the tidy A-type that I am, I use a program called AppZapper which will let you drag the Pages and Keynote apps to its icon, and it will remove all the other files, too. It gives you about 5 free zaps to try it out.
