Uninstalling JRE SE v1.4.2_04

I have uninstalled JRE SE v1.4.2_04 through Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs, but when I try to load the newest version of Java, I get a message telling me that here is an old version installed and references version 1.4.2. I need to get JRE 1.6.0_22 installed. How do I accomplish this if I can't uninstall the old version? Or, how do I get JRE 1.4.2 completely uninstalled (it is no longer appearing in Add/Remove Programs)?

  • Problem Uninstalling JRE 1.4.2_01

Hi, i am having problems silently uninstalling JRE 1.4.2_01 on windows XP wonder if anyone can help, When running the silent uninstall command....... j2re-1_4_2_01-windows-i586.exe /s /v "/qn REBOOT=Suppress" /x......nothing happens.
I am trying to update the JRE from Build_05 to Build_28 of 1.4.2_01 for development reasons. I have tried overwritting the current installation using silent install and pointing the INSTALLLDIR to the existing one but get error " Incorrent Command line parameters" when running the silent install. Works fine when doing the install normally via the wizard but not using the silent commands.
    Any help is much appreciated.

Two things: Is there a document detailing manual removal of this JRE (and indeed others); you mention different 'builds' of the same JRE, this is the first time I have read that there are sub-versions/releases of a JRE. Where do I find out the available builds of this JRE and others and how they differ?

  • Need to completely uninstall JRE 1.3.1

Installing JRE 1.3.1 on a Win2k SP2 machine causes a 16bit application to fail with a "not enough space for environment" error. Uninstalling JRE 1.3.1 does not solve the problem.
I can repeat this at will using a machine with only Windows 2000 installed. The problem only appears when the Path variable is over 100 bytes.
At this point my first priority is getting this 16bit app working. Are there some settings not cleaned up by the uninstall that can be manually changed to restore functionality?
    Scott DF

When I run into similar problem, the way I get around it is to enter the shorten MS-DOS name in the PATH variable in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and reboot the machine. For example:
    set path=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\DOS;C:\LF9045\BIN;C:\JDK1.3.1\BIN
    set path=%PATH%;"C:\Progra~1\Mts";"C:\Progra~1\Micros~1.0\bin";
So, my suggestion is for you to cleanup the autoexec.bat file and reboot to see if it solves your problem.

Also, i want to put the JRE in CD,and from CD i want to install that JRE using linux shell script. is it possible.
If any one know, pls tell me.
    thank you.

This is from the following link: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/5000011600.xml#jre
    II. JRE Uninstallation
There are two ways to uninstall the JRE. Please use the method that you used when you installed the JRE. For example, if you used RPM to install the JRE, then use the RPM uninstallation method.
    RPM uninstallation
Note: If you have RPM on your Linux box, you should first find out if Java is already installed using RPM. If Java is not installed using RPM, you should skip reading.
    Open Terminal Window
    Login as the super user
Try to find jre package by typing: rpm -qa
If RPM reports a package similar to jre-<version>-fcs, then Java is installed with RPM.
Note: Normally, you do not need to uninstall JRE with RPM, because RPM is able to uninstall the old JRE when installing a new version! You may skip reading, unless you want to remove JRE permanently.
To uninstall the JRE, type: rpm -e jre-<version>-fcs
    Self-extracting file uninstallation
Find out if Java is installed in some folder. Common locations are /usr/java/jre_<version> or /opt/jre_nb/jre_<version>/bin/java/
When you have located the folder, you may delete folder.
Warning: You should be certain that Java is not already installed using RPM before removing the folder.
Type: rm -r name. For example: rm -r jre1.5.0

  • Can't uninstall JRE.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I'm trying to uninstall the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (Java(TM) 6 Update 13). Whenever I attempt to do so, the green loading bar fills up underneath "Preparing to remove...", and it asks for my administrative permission to continue, so I click continue. As soon as I do that, however, an error message pops up saying:
Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I must have deleted one or many DLL files required to uninstall the program. So how can I go about uninstalling JRE? Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Step 1: Download JavaRa to make sure all obsolete jre files will be removed. ( http://raproducts.org/ ). Run it as administrator. If program log (default location: JavaRa.log ) doesn't show any removed files go to step 2.
Step 2: Download Windows Installer CleanUp from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en . Install it (as administrator of course :) ), run it, then remove Java Runtime Environment entry from the list.
    That's all.
    Kind Regards,

  • How to uninstall JRE in Fedora Core 5

Hi, I'm new to linux and especially FC5, I was following instructions to install JRE so that web pages with Java applets would run, managed to install it but haven't gone as far as creating the plug-in link, but then noticed that what I really wanted to do was to install the SDK so I could a bit of Java programming too.
So my question is ... how do I uninstall JRE so that I can neatly install the SDK. I assume I cannot just delete the folder?
I used jre-1_5_0_6-linux-i586.bin and followed instructions from http://www.stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_5_installation_notes.html#Java
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sumdude

I assume I cannot just delete the folder? Why not?Am I just too used to Windows - spreading files here there and everywhere, making entries in the registry?
Does the linux version install all the files in just one folder? If not, I'd rather find a method to uninstall properly and not leave any rogue files lying around.
Could there be a section created for uninstallations? There's seems enough questions about unistallations to warrant a seperate section.
    Many Thanks,
    Sumdude

I don' t know what to do or even if I' ve to go to the Windows Registry. I only know in this situation, I can' t see/do many things on the Internet.

"the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below."
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Sillent Uninstall JRE 6 10

having a lot of dificulty to get the silent uninstall working correctly
i would prefer to use one simple command line rather than making a long winded script, a transform (MST) file would be ok though.
i have just used the command line found on the official doco as follows -
    <jre>.exe /s /v "/qn [REBOOT=Suppress]" /x
    jre-6u10-windows-i586-p-s.exe /s /v "/qn [REBOOT=Suppress]" /x
the above doesnt work at all i find, it just qives the msiexec commands window
and also the MSI uninstall string -
    msiexec.exe /qn /x {26A24AE4-039D-4CA4-87B4-2F83216010FF}
    morks fine but....
the issue i am facing is even though i have selected the silent option i am still faced with a window telling me that jqs.exe (java quick start) is running and needs to be closed
i then have to tick a box anclick retry
is there a string i can attach that will automatically exit the program??

Remove the SAPdb folder, and the other SAP folder, in new versions it could be c:\usr or c:\sap.  Not sure what it is for 6.10.   You need to go to the registry and delete the SAP DB Tech node as well as any other references to the 6.10 engine,  should be something there referencing the SysId for the system.

  • Automate uninstalling JRE 7 update 60 x586 and x64 on the same device

    Hi
we have a large number of devices on our estate that have both the x64 and x586 versions of Java installed on them. I want to uninstall both versions but there only appears to be one uninstall key under
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
To make things more complex this is sometimes for the x64 bit version and sometimes for the x586 version, so simply running msiexec /X {GUID} will only ever uninstall one version.
Can anyone suggest a way to guarantee getting rid of both, that I can roll out to hundreds of Pc's?

  • Should I uninstall previous versions of JRE???

I have these previous version of JRE installed:
    J2RE, SE 1.4.1_02
    J2RE, SE 1.4.1_07
    J2RE, SE 1.4.2_05
I am now updating to J2RE, SE 1.4.2_06 should I uninstall previous versions of JRE or should I leave it alone?
If I were to uninstall do I uninstall via Control Panel or is there another way to uninstall JRE?

There is little harm in either having multiple version (except disk psace/clutter) or removing them. If it turns out you have software that will not work with the latest version, you can always re-install an older version.

  • JRE v6 and v7 no longer work in my updated 64-bit W7 HPE's 32-bit IE8.

    Hello.
Since last week, my JRE/Java v6u34 stopped working. My 32-bit IE8 kept asking me to run it in protected mode or not which was weird since it never did that before: http://i.imgur.com/Tubsl.gif ... Then, Java didn't work. So I restarted IE8 and retried again to allow it. Java applets still didn't show up (shows an empty box with X icon, JRE console doesn't even run/load). I tried my 64-bit JRE v6u35 in 64-bit IE8, no problems with Java. I tried my 32-bit Mozilla's SeaMonkey v2.12 web browser and no problems with its Java. Why is my 32-bit IE8 having problems all the sudden?
I thought maybe my JRE installation was broken. So, I uninstalled it and reinstalled with the latest v6 (u35). Same results. I tried the very latest v7u7. Same problem. I tried uninstalling Java again, running JavaRa v1.16-23-8-12 (didn't find anything to remove), resetting IE8 options and clearing its caches), etc. I also tried disabling protected mode to see if it makes any differences when reinstalling and accessing a Java applet. Nope! I looked at my IE8's addons list and noticed jp2ssv.dll was still listed like:
    Name: Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper
Publisher: Control name is not available
    Type: Browser Helper Object
    Version: Not available
    File date:
Date last accessed: Today, September 04, 2012, 1 minute ago
    Class ID: {DBC80044-A445-435B-BC74-9C25C1C588A9}
    Use count: 2030
    Block count: 9
    File: jp2ssv.dll
    Folder: C:\winstuff\JRE6\bin
    http://i.imgur.com/wvKdn.gif for a screen shot/capture.
I searched jp2ssv.dll on my computer, and it was not found. Even my uninstalled JRE removed its JRE location/folder. How do I remove this one from 32-bit IE8's addons list? Maybe this is the problem? What's going on?
    Thank you in advance. :)

I think you are having the same issue I've been working on. I just posted about this here:
Newer JREs are not registering old JRE ClassIDs for all users
    You can try the following.
    * On a working user, export the key HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID. Then import it for a failing user. Its not a real pretty solution. You should be able to narrow down exactly which subkey is needed by using Process Monitor or looking at your application HTML code where the JRE object is being called.
    * If you can change the code, look for the OBJECT or EMBED tags and look what CLSID they are referencing. Change that CLSID to "8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93" allow it to work with the latest Oracle/Sun JRE installed.

  • Windows Crashes with JRE 1.4.2  When Moving around JDialog

    Hi!
I work on a Java Applet/application that was originally written to run on java 1.1 -- only AWT that too. Recently I managed to convince my manager (and his manager and his manager) to migrate from the AWT framework on java 1.1 (Microsoft JVM that is ) to Swing/JFC on Sun Java 1.4.2 ... it took a lot of explaining, demostrating, begging, pleading etc., to get this project funded.
Now, my app is all developed in JFC and ready for deployment and during testing found a potential show stopper -- When a Dialog Box or any moveable componant (internal windows etc) is moved around (holding down the mouse on the title bar of a dialog and dragging it around), the OS simply froze up ... nothing could be done other than power cycling the PC. Does anyone know if its a bug in JRE 1.4.2 and if it has been fixed?? This could potentially result in rolling back to AWT :(( .... and of course me looking like a fool in front of my manager!!
..... Please provide any suggestion other than moving to JRE 1.5.x beta. I've also noticed this happening in other Java Applications (Netbeans for example). So, I think this is a major bug the JRE 1.4.2.
A million thanks and few Duke Dollars for anyone pointing me in the right direction.
    Note:
    1. This problem is not just with my app ... some other java apps that are installed on my workstation (like netbeans) behave the same when Moving Around dialog boxes.
    2. The behaviour is very random. But it has happened multiple times (and the very first time my manager run our app on jre 1.4.2)
I would give a million dollars if I had them. But for now, please do with the million thanks and few duke dollars.

Have you tried this on another machine?Yes ... actually this has happened on a few workstations here ... all of them are Pentium IV based dell workstations running Windows 2000.
What exact version of 1.4.2 did you download?Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.4.2_04
Using JRE version 1.4.2_04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
Have you searched the bug database? This one could be related to yours:
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4673572
This sounds similar but the difference is its not just the app that feezes up (so that you could do an alt+ctrl+del and kill it)..... the OS freezes up and you can move the mouse around still the system even queu e is not full and eventuall all I hear is the beeping. At this point I've to power cycle.
Is there any way you could post the code or is it too big? Or, have you tried just creating a very small >application or applet that just shows one dialog, and if so, does that show the same problem? (What I'm >trying to get at here is - is it something in your code that is causing this, or something in the JRE, or >perhaps something to do with your machine's configuration/OS?)Unfortunately I cannot post the code ... its company rules and regulations. I've tried creating a very small app and it appears to work ok .... but randomly causes this freeze up. There is no definate pattern (except that it happens when you move around a JDialog or a JInternalFrame) . It could freeze up some time and work perfectly fine at other times. It has actually happened on other applications too (Netbeans, JEdit etc). That's why I suspect this might be a obscure bug in the JRE.
I'll try to find a pattern so that it can be re-produced by everyone.
    Thanks for the help.
