  • How do I completely (!) uninstall "Logic Pro X" with all associated files?

    Hey guys,
I'm a relatively new MAC user.
I'm sitting here since two hours to figure out how I can uninstall "Logic Pro X" and all it's associated files completly?
I found several guides on the internet pointing to different folders which should be deleted.
When I follow those guides all I get are circa four deleted files and 1 GB of free space nothing more.
They are all written for older versions of Logic (mostly 8 and 9)!
So maybe someone here on the official support communities can help me getting rid of it?

    Hi
If you really want to delete all of it:
    Applications: Logic Pro X
Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple (you may want to keep the GarageBand ones?)
    Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Audio:Impulse Responses
    Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Application Support:Logic
That should get most/all of it

SORRY!  I thought you were referring to Logic Pro X.
I assume the regulations will be different with earlier versions.

Logic 9 installs files in all sorts of places (as well as the Application itself):
    <Boot Disc>:Library:Application Support;Logic
    <Boot Disc>:Library:Application Support:Garageband:Instrument Library:Sampler
    <Boot Disc>:Library:Audio:Apple Loops

  • How to uninstall Logic Pro 8 and Reinstall Logic Pro 7.2?

For numerous reasons I'd like to uninstall Logic Pro 8 and return to Logic Pro 7, the reasons for which I'd rather not discuss, as I'd like to focus on the reinstallation task.
Apple states that Logic Pro 7 still functions, but this is not entirely correct. Since many instruments were replaced, the complex 50-track songs that I painstakingly mixed on pure LP7 (prior to the upgrade) now sound completely different in LP7 post-LP8 install (as well as LP8 as you can imagine). It seems that the levels are actually different on some of the EXS and other instruments. Yes, Apple says they are richer and better, but I really don't care. I am in the middle of a CD and need to return to the state I was in prior to the upgrade.
Ultimately I'd like to reinstall Logic Pro 7 and/or its content in order to get all of my original instruments back.
Does anyone have a procedure for this? Should I uninstall Logic Pro 8 and then perform a complete reinstall of Logic Pro 7 following Apple's procedure? Or should I simply use Pacifist to replace the content files that were replaced? Will any of my preferences (plug-in settings) be lost during a reinstall? Should the rest of Logic Studio be uninstalled as well?
    Thanks so much in advance.
P.S. I'm just looking for a procedure and do not wish to discuss the reasons, which you'll find all over the forums.

    Thank you.
Regarding copying the settings, these should all be in my personal user folder, correct? My plugin settings should all reside here as I understand. Would ANY customized settings reside anywhere OTHER than my user folder? *Yes, everything should live here, but it never hurts to snoop around the other folders just in case.*
I had modified some EXS instrument settings, but did not import new ones.
Where would the personal EXS settings exist - in my user folders or elsewhere? *All exs are stored Library / Application Support / Logic or GarageBand. The audio files for instrument should be stored there as well. You will need to copy and save both the instrument file and the associated audio files*.
If I simply modified an EXS instrument within a song, my understanding is that would be a property of the song itself, correct? *Yes, if you did not save the exs instrument as new instrument, it settings are stored with the song.*
    Also,
Which folders am I deleting when I "delete both versions of Logic"? *You can delete ANY and all folders associated with them. Delete them out of the Apps folder, utilities, and Application support*.
And how would I delete the new Logic 8 content - where does it reside? *The Library. Not in front of my mac so sorry I can't be more specific.*
I just spoke to Apple and they recommended an "Erase and Restore" of the entire system, and a reinstall of Logic 7 in order to get me back to where I was - do you agree? *Yes, that is the preferred method but only if you are willing or in a position to start from scratch i.e re-installing all 3rd party apps, hardware drivers ect. Remember to back up all your important files.*
    Thanks!

  • How hard can it be to uninstall Logic Pro 9??

How do I uninstall Logic pro and all the programs that follow with it? I can´t find the answer anywhere. The answers I find are all older than 2010 and just includes deleting alot of strange files I cant find.
And apparently theres no uninstall function either... frustrating.

It's not hard, just drag the Logic app icon to trash, empty the trash, and that's it.
You may also want to move Mainstage, Compressor, Waveburner, Logic Node, Soundtrack Pro and Apple Qmaster (depending on whether you had these installed along with Logic as a Logic Studio suite) to trash too.
After that you may search the hard-drive for any Logic-related items, and trash them too. Check <your HD>/Library/Application Support/Logic AND <your HD>/users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/Logic (this one should contain your preferences, apple loops, custom sound patches, temp files and undo data).
Apple Loops, Jam Packs and other Logic content (if you installed them all) could be found in: <your HD>/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/

  • Can I now delete/uninstall Logic Pro 9 safely now that I have Logic Pro X?

Is it ok to delete the application Logic Pro 9 now that X is installed without affecting anything?

There shouldn't be any problems when uninstalling Logic 9, but in my opinion this is not necessary. Logic 9 does not claim that much space on your HD and it will coexist rather unnoticed along LPX. You'll gain availability of a 2nd DAW wherein you still can run 32 bit plugins, work on old projects incase LPX has trouble translating them and you'll have functionality available which has been left out in LPX. My advice would be to leave it where it is.
    Have a nice day!

  • Uninstalled Logic Pro 8, But still picking up Software Update.

    Hello Guys,
Need help. I have already uninstalled my Logic Pro 8.
But somehow, every time I performed a Software Update - it will still somehow detected as if that I have Logic Pro 8 installed on my MBP and asked me to have it update with the latest version.
I have also already removed the file such as com.apple.logic.plist (something like that), and still - during Software Update - it will still picked up the latest Logic Pro 8 version to be update.
Am I missing some files that I am suppose to trash here as well?
    Please guide.
Thank you very much in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Jonathan Gan

    Dear Zuelito,
Thank you very much for your help again,
Yes - I have already tried restarting soon after my previous post. Still no luck.
When run SU - still it pick up the Logic Pro 8 latest version update. Grrrrr...
As for my Leopard version, Yes - I have already have it updated to 10.5.2 as well.
I have also check out the 'Ignore Update' configuration as you mentioned. It can be located and works exactly the way you describe it above. The only different is the 'Reset Ignored Updates' menu. For my case, if I were to 'Reset Ignored Updates' - I was advise from the pop up menu right before 'Ignore Update' was apply that it can only be done from the application menu itself. And since my application has already been removed. I guess I can no longer do the 'Reset Ignored Updates' if I want to.
So in the end, I didn't proceed on with the 'Ignore Update' method.
I know it's not really a big deal to have that little update being picked up everytime. After all, I can just unchecked it each time and it will not be downloaded and updated. But sometimes it really annoys me. I am sure you know how it felt too. heh heh heh Especially when our Mac is not performing the way it should be.
I have also learned how to do in-depth search for system files too. But still, nothing was located when the keyword Logic was keyed in.
Anyway, Thanks again. Let's hope we will find ways to tackle this issue.

  • Uninstalling Logic Pro 7

Maybe it's me....when I installed Logic Pro (8), Logic Pro 7 did not automatically uninstall. Any dangers in uninstalling it?
    BC

Why should it uninstall automatically? L7 and L8 are different apps and can be used on the same computer without interference problems. If you want just trash the L7 app itself - leave everything else untouched. But I would advise you not to do this in case old L7 songs don't open properly in L8 (which does occur from time to time).

  • Uninstalling Logic Pro to reinstall on another computer.

Hi, apologies if this problem is already answered elswehere. I've tried various search terms but can't find an answer to my specific questions. I have Logic Pro 8 installed on my almost 4 year old Macbook in addition to being installed on my Desktop Pro. I rarely if ever use the laptop for Logic work and it's only there in case I'm working in a studio and need to refer to a score or something as the Macbook isn't powerful enough for 'full' use. I'm giving the Macbook to my sister and will be getting a Macbook Pro in due course when I can afford it. In the meantime, I've been loaned an almost new Macbook Pro to use while working away from home on a large project.
What I need to do is uninstall Logic from the Macbook, (which I want to do anyway when I give it to my sister) and install it on the borrowed Macbook Pro for use until I get my own new one. I have three questions:
    1. Is this allowed under the licence as long as I don't use both computers at the same time?
    2. How do I uninstall Logic?
    3. Will I need to register the software again on the borrowed computer and what do I need for that?
Sorry for the long post but I thought I'd better give as much info as I could.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the answer. I plan to by Adobe Illustrator CS6-Multiple Platforms-Ukrainian-AOO License (<removed by mod - kglad>), is it original?

  • How can I uninstall Logic Pro 9 from my old computer and reinstall on my new computer?

Pardon the newbie question. I plan to upgrade to a new computer. I have Logic Pro 9 and Mainstage on my current computer and a bunch of other paid software. How can I migrate these paid apps/software to my new computer?
    thanks for any help.

If you installed them from a DVD, you need to install that DVD onto the new computer. If you got them from the Mac App Store, redownload them from there for free.
Having previously purchased an application on DVD or from the iTunes App Store does not allow a free download of it from the Mac App Store.

How do i uninstall Logic Pro 9.1.6 to do a clean install?

I think if you drag it from the Applications folder to the trash bin, it should work. Some people recommend "Clean My Mac" to remove any residual files afterwards, just to make sure.
