Uninstalling MSA 4.0 manually

Hi,
We tried to upgrade MSA from 4.0 to 7.0. When we executed the setup to upgrade the binary files the upgrade failed due to problems with uninstalling MSA. Does anybody know the steps to uninstall MSA 4.0 completely manually?

If you have installation DVD available with you, all your issues are resolved. You just have to follow the below steps which i had mentioned in one of the previous replies
1. Take the MAR and IDES DB backup in MAR machine.
2. Get a fresh machine with WIndows XP, so that you install MAS + MAR in the same machine.
3. Run the sepup.exe from InstallationDVD. You can also install a local design time repository whcih can be discarded at later stage. Installation should go through fine. Also sugegst you to check the Installation guide prerequistes section.
4. Restore the backup data bases.
5. in case of ARS_db, run the user management script 'UserManagementAfterDBRestore.sql' availabe at %mobilerootdir%\ARSUserManagement
So far, i presumed that you don't have installation DVD and need to purchase the 7.0 installation license seperately and hence i am giving you the workaround steps to come to 7.0. If you have installation DVD, you can just follow the above steps which would resolve the issue.
Please make sure that system meets all hardware and software prerequistes as mentioned in the installation guide.

The most important is that you have to inventory the applications that are installed and based on that you have to decided which applications you want to remove. For those applications you can create uninstalls in ConfigMgr.

Trouble uninstalling Adobe CS2 manually

Hello,
I messed up a bit while uninstalling Adobe CS 2 (I accidentally uninstalled a few items manually before trying to use the uninstaller, which then failed to work and disappeared from the workspace).
Using the uninstall guide on the CD-rom, I worked through the steps and slowly uninstalled the individual components from the Applications, Utilities, Library and Users folders. Save one - Adobe Version Cue CS2 folder in the applications folder. When I drag it to the trash and hit empty, it says there are items in use.
When that failed, I followed instructions to remove Version Cue manually - removing the various preferences and plist and startupmaster to the trash before trying to remove the application. But I'm still getting the same 'applications in use' message.
I've double checked the list a couple of times, to make sure I didn't miss a step, but no use. The only thing I can think of is that at the very top of the uninstall guide, it says "DOuble-click Activity MOnitor.app in Applications / Utilities, select AHCRemind, and click Quit Process." I could not find AHCRemind in the Activity Monitor, and even after running a search I was unable to locate the item.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Startup in Safe Mode. You should then be able to delete any remaining Version Cue components or empty the Trash if the components are already in the Trash.
I suspect Version Cue is being launched as either a Startup Item or a Login Item. For additional details, see my "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ.

Reinstalled. Reset. Uninstalled, Deleted Data, Reinstalled Clean. Crashes Even In Safe More. Followed Checklist. Any Ideas?

My Firefox has been crashing "randomly" for a couple of months. At first it was not so often and I ignored it. I can't ignore it any longer. This is what I have tried...
1) Disabled plug-ins one by one thinking I would eventually disable the evil one. I reached no plugins and it still crashed. At that point I figured a reinstall was needed.
2) I reinstalled firefox but left plugins and data. It did not help.
3) By this time I found the firefox troubleshooting check list.
4) Started firefox in safe mode. It crashed. But I did not give up there. I kept trying safe mode. It crashed at least ten times before I called it quits.
5) Updated FF and all extensions. Crashed (many times)
6) Read how to do a reset and did one. With no extensions installed, it crashed.
7) I needed my browser for work so I reinstalled my extensions. Of course, it crashed (a zillion times over a couple weeks).
8) I got dead serious. Number 8 I did on same day, same several hour session.
A) I checked my firewalls (win and avast) and everything looked good.
B) I checked win logs and nothing shows in there about anything that I can tell related to FF. Of course I did not expect to see anything but I checked.
C) I Checked to be sure avast was up to date. Video drives.
D) Ran multiple anti virus and malware scans. All clear.
FireFox Just NOW crashed. Thank goodness I have "Lazarus Form Recovery" extension http://getlazarus.com/ <-- Plug for it since it has saved my life about a kabillion times since this crash thing started.
E) Ran Memtest86+. All good.
F) Tried safe mode again. All extensions disabled. Crashed several times before I just gave up.
G) Made copies of firefox data so I could be sure I had bookmarks backed up. Reset Firefox. No extensions installed. Crashed. Tried Safe more just for kicks. Crashed.
H) Uninstalled Firefox Completely. Manually deleted every firefox directory on my computer. Used regedit and searched for everything I could think of related to firefox. Can't remember if I found anything but if I did I either deleted it or renamed directories.
J) At this point I should have been totally firefox free. I downloaded the lastest firefox version 23.0.1. Installed it. I promise you it crashed as soon as I opened it the first time and before it could even finish loading the page.
K) I cried. I cried. I cried some more.
L) Since I need firefox for work I reinstalled my extensions and gave up.
I have been using firefox since it first started. I use it at least eight and up to fifteen hours a day. This crashing thing is about to send me to the funny farm. I even downloaded Chrome which I swear I'd never have on my computer because FF is killing me.
I use this pc for work. I can't afford to stop and clean install windows to see if it will fix firefox.
I have enough sense to know the problem has to be on my computer and not firefox.
I have just ran out of things to check and or try.
ANY and ALL ideas would be appreciated. What have I not tried or checked? Does firefox keep a secret log or something I could check? Should I try attaching a debugger to it and see what it puts out?
Sorry if I have been too detailed and or too long. I don't like asking for help but when I do i don't want to waste anyone's time.

I have used Firefox since Firefox 0.7 or 0.9 but may have been 0.5. Seems like it was called something else but my memory is not that great.
Before that I used Seamonkey and other variations of Mozilla. Before that I used Netscape. I even have/had a CD that I sent off for with the different releases going all the way back to the beginning (I think).
I was a Mozilla crusader. When I saw someone using IE I would talk to them like they must be dumb until they switched haha. I have converted everyone who is close to me to firefox except my wife and I think she uses IE to irritate me.
I work on the Internet. I spend no less than 12 hours and up to 18 hours a day with my fingers touching a keyboard that is connected to a computer or phone that is interacting with the Internet. I have Firefox on my Android phone, two laptops and my desktop. All of them crash constantly.
When it crashes I lose work and time. Not to mention getting big headaches.
I am very appreciative for the browser and yes I have made money donations. Not saying that makes me good. I look at it more like I am paying for great software.
I never thought the day would come that I would say no more to Firefox. The day has come.
When Firefox first came out it was small, good and fast. As time has went on it has become big, bad and slow. I feel like I am turning my back on a good friend but i can't take the crashing any longer.
I am using Chrome now. Dang I hate to use anything google. Since I can't make my own browser I have to use what's out there and Chrome is fast. Sort of like Firefox used to be... except of course Chrome has all those phone home goodies.
I won't be trying to convert anyone to Chrome but neither will I try to convert them to Firefox.
I am not trying to start a flame war or anything here. As nuts as it sounds I felt like I should tell Firefox bye.

Cannot update, uninstall or install Adobe AIR

I have a particularly puzzling problem.
AdobeAIR has never allowed me to update it. Ever. I have received countless notifications over the years, but everytime I clicked update, I received an error message. The version I have is 3.7.0.2090. I have attempted updating it to 16.0.0.273 all day. I continually receive this message:
"An error occurred while installing Adobe Air. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
I have downloaded the latest version and selected "run as administrator". That didn't work. I tried creating a new administrator account on my pc and then selected "run as administrator" using that account. All to no avail.
I figured I might uninstall the version I have, so opened control panel (I'm running Windows 7, btw) and looked for the application in the Programmes list to uninstall it. However, the app was not listed. Anywhere.
I then found, in these forums, someone had a problem with updating and/or uninstalling and attempted a manual removal of some register keys. So following their instruction, I did that. However the issues and error messages remain unchanged.
I am at a complete loss. I cannot uninstall an app that doesn't exist. But I can't update the version I supposedly have.
Any help with this troubling issue would be most welcome.

Edit: I have also tried repairing this problem using MicrosoftFixIt. That did not help.

Please share the exact error message which you are getting while running the application? My guess is an appropriate Adobe AIR version is required for running this application. You can use the documentation http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/troubleshoot-air-installation-windows.html and use the check the determine the version of Adobe AIR on your computer.

Uninstalling Illustrator CS6 and Prelude CS6 Mac Betas

I was on beta team of CS6 and before release this past week was experiencing an issue with Adobe Application Manager. A very unhelpful and uninformed Adobe Tech rep demanded that I uninstall all beta apps manually. I knew this was wrong but followed his advice. Now installing from the Creative Cloud and am getting error messages in Illustrator CS6 and Prelude CS6 installations that there are conflicting files. I cannot locate these conflicting files using Spotlight. All other apps installed without a problem. Since I removed all of these beta files, including uninstallers, manually (following the bad advice of about the worst tech rep I have ever experienced), I have no uninstallers to find these files. I recall that after the cs5 beta cycle, there were several clean-up scripts available to remove any residue of beta software. Does such a script exist or is there a different way to find and remove those conflicting files?

I apologize for the experience you had with our support representative. They were partly correct though with asking you to remove the beta version prior to installing the released version but you would have wanted to use the uninstallers. At the moment I would recommend running the cleaner tool. Cant uninstall Macromedia Flash Player 6

My system is unable to uninstall and upgrade from Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r21. I have tried the Flash Player uninstall and the Flash Player 6 uninstall. I have manually deleted the Flash.ocx files wherever they occur.
The Adobe Website acknowledges the latest Flash Player installed on my system, but when right click on a flash file I still only get the oprion of open with: Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r21.
Ther are files which prompt me to upgrade to the latest Flash Player, which I have done on many occasions. Remove programs does not even list the Macromedia Flash Player 6.
I have even tried to upgrade to the later versions of versions Macromedia Flash Player 6, without success. I simply cannot get rid of Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r21
I have Windows XP home SP2
Can anybody help?

Flash is designed to play SWF content inside a browser. It's a browser plugin. It's not designed to open local SWF on your system as an installed application. So when you update to Flash player 10, you're updating your Flash Player ActiveX control (for IE windows) or the Flash Player plugin (for Firefox and all other OS/browsers).
So, when you point your browser to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome and it says you have Flash Player 10 then you have the most recent version. If you need to open a local SWF launch your browser and use file:open
Now, if you really want to try to get the older player off your machine I'd use the command line uninstall in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402435.html
(but keep in mind that should uninstall ALL Flash Player files from your machine, so you'd have to resinstall FP10 afterwards).

Uninstalling Reporting Services 2005 instance

Hi,
I'm trying to uninstall an old instance of SQL 2005 Reporting Services (x86) on a WS2008 vm but for some reason the uninstall crashes.
I am using programs and features to uninstall the SQL 2005 Reporting Services named instance. I get a message saying 'setup is preparing to make the requested configuration changes' and the setup then closes without any warning or error message.
Has anyone else had similar problems and does anyone have any ideas how to remove this instance of RS? If it's any help the corresponding SQL instance has been uninstalled so maybe thats confusing the setup program?

Both the Installation Wizard and command line setup can be used to remove or modify an existing installation. Refer to How to: Uninstall an Instance of Reporting Services:

In addition, I think you need to uninstall SQL Server 2005 manually. Follow steps:

Apps to Install and Uninstall Icons from Launchpad

I have found an application by a third party that installs in the System Preference file that allows you to Add or Delete any Icon from Launchpad with just a click.
I have installed the program and it works very good - no problems.
I also run NORTON Internet Security 5 for MAC and the program went though the filters and checks with NO problems.

Why? In general this type of setup is handled by using standard Windows authentication. Normal users cannot install/uninstall programs. The problem solves itself. You cannot technically prevent an admin from removing a program.
It simply isn't possible. As an admin I can remove the folder containing your program and it is effectively uninstalled. I can manually remove any registry entries you create and it is uninstalled. I can basically manually uninstall anything
that you install as an admin.

Need to completely uninstall JRE 1.3.1

Installing JRE 1.3.1 on a Win2k SP2 machine causes a 16bit application to fail with a "not enough space for environment" error. Uninstalling JRE 1.3.1 does not solve the problem.
I can repeat this at will using a machine with only Windows 2000 installed. The problem only appears when the Path variable is over 100 bytes.
At this point my first priority is getting this 16bit app working. Are there some settings not cleaned up by the uninstall that can be manually changed to restore functionality?

When I run into similar problem, the way I get around it is to enter the shorten MS-DOS name in the PATH variable in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and reboot the machine. For example:
set path=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\DOS;C:\LF9045\BIN;C:\JDK1.3.1\BIN
set path=%PATH%;"C:\Progra~1\Mts";"C:\Progra~1\Micros~1.0\bin";
So, my suggestion is for you to cleanup the autoexec.bat file and reboot to see if it solves your problem.

How to uninstall software that doesn't have uninstall.exe or an .msi in the install folder?

I can uninstall the software fine by using the add/remove programs, but since we have several hundred computers I would like to script this. I am using Windows 7 Pro, and have tried with powershell version 2 & 3. The commands that I tried on
version 3 are:
$application get-ciminstance win32_product -filter "name like '%softwarename%'"
$application.uninstall()
It appears to work, I can see the object in $application before running the second command. After running the second command the object is gone, should have worked. But when I look in add/remove programs, it is still listed and the install folder is still
there. Not sure what it actually did.
After that I tried to uninstall using "wmic" commands manually. Same problem, it thinks it uninstalled, but still in Add/Remove programs.
Any suggestions about what to try next?

For that you have to ask the vendor of the software why it won't uninstall. There s functionally nothing different when using WMI or MS to uninstall.
You can also use MSI and ask for a log then look at the log file.
Call the vendor.

Firefox Sync won't let me uninstall add-ons

Apparently I don't understand how to uninstall add-ons across Firefox sync. I'm on Firefox version 29.0.1 and did not have a Sync account until version 29 came out. I use Sync across 5 computers, 3 at work and 2 at home. I'm trying to uninstall some add-ons on one computer at work (I want them uninstalled across all five computers), but as soon as I restart Firefox and it syncs up, the add-ons re-install. The other four computers are all powered on, but Firefox is not running on any of them at this time. All the information I have read from Mozilla support says Sync will allow me to install, enable, disable, and remove add-ons across all synced browsers, but so far that is not happening. Do I have to disconnect all five browsers, uninstall the add-ons, then re-sync them in order to get rid of them? Or do I have to go into 'options' and de-select 'add-ons' and uninstall the add-ons manually at every computer?

Re-sync is first and best method to get out from add-ons from a particullar device else for 2nd option you can do Manually but its a time taking procedure .

Updated and now the ipod communication software won't install or uninstall

After updating to the newest itunes (biggest mistake ever) the ipod communication files cannot be installed or uninstalled. I keep getting the same error message despite countless attempts to fix the install, uninstall and reinstall, install manually...
itunes does not recognize my ipods when they are plugged in, and I've now gone over a week without being able to sync them...completely worthless!

Not sure what exactly you did; your description is a bit confusing. What I suggest you do (assuming you want the English version for Windows)
*Download the installer from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe (or from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US_Std.exe if you don't want Adobe AIR and Acrobat.com)

*Run the utility and remove any Adobe Reader references
*Run the Adobe Reader installer

I can't remove/uninstall mozilla from my windows xp pc
