  • Uninstalling oracle 10g

I have installed oracle 10g database successfully but after that i installed odp.net i.e odac92070 from then i am not able to log on to oracle database using any clients like oracle sql plus, pl/sql developer. So then i thought of uninstalling the database so that ican again reinstall but when i click the universal installer and select the oracle home which needs to be uninstalled then i am getting theerror msg box as
    sqlplus.exe-Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point slfpfmul could not be located in the dynamic link library OCI.dll.
That msg box doesn't close even after i clcick the OK button.
pls help me out in uninstalling oracle 10g database.
    Thanks a lot

    Issue resolved.
Solution: i have selected some components which needs to be uninstalled step by step and removed it. I have seen the component for which the message is coming and deselected it. After that i went to oracle directory in C:\ and deleted some files then it was throwing me an error like access deneied. hen i right click on the folder and moved to security tab and checked the modify checkbox under allow. Then i was able to delete every file except one dll file. Then when i restarted the system it also got deleted. Then i have followed some steps to delete the registry keys from the registry.
    Thanks a lot

  • How to Uninstall Oracle 10G release 1

I'm a newbie in Oracle DB.
I've been assigned to a new task to assist DBA teams to migration SQL server to Oracle server. I got a new PC which pre-installed 2 Oracles version (9i & 10G), the 9i is OK but the 10G DID NOT work properly and I'd liked to replace 10G release 1 with 10G release 2 (for testing purpose).
I did followed the instruction how to remove the 10G release 1 using the OUI, but the process ran forever ... ( see screenshot --> http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5555/oui10g1qb8.jpg )
I'm also know that I can delete Oracle thru Regedit, but in some Reg. keys do not show the Oracle version (I want to keep the Oracle 9i).
Could someone please enlight me how to uninstall Oracle 10G ?
    PC's info:
    OS : Windows XP Prof.
    1GB RAM
    50GB free space
All the Oracle services have been disable before Uninstall.
    Thanks Advance.
    DTH.

    Thanks Marcio ...
I'm current process the step by step to remove 10G release 1, if I've problem then I'll let you know
    Thanks again.

  • Can't uninstall Oracle 10g client

Wow. I'm not sure this experience could have been any more frustrating. Now I can't uninstall oracle 10g client...
Some of the components you selected cannot be deinstalled because they are installed using Installer version 10.2.0.1.0. Please use Installer version 10.2.0.1.0 or higher
WHAT? Where do I find this new installer? I just want to revert back to 9i client so that hopefully my oledb connections to my oracle database will work again.
UPDATE: Okay. I managed to uninstall Oracle 10g client. It didn't solve my problem :(
    I still get this error...
ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
I just want to pretend like this whole upgrade episode never happened. What a nightmare.

I just had to click on the same setup.exe icon i used to install it. i didn't realize there was an uninstall option in the setup application.
As far as the error is concerned. When I installed 10g it set one of the registry values for 9i to "NA". Once I changed that registry value back to what it was it worked again. I guess Oracle changes the registry value of old installations in order to ensure they are not active anymore. Since I wanted a side-by-side installation of 10g and 9i I didn't want 9i deactivated. Everything is working fine now.

How to configure Oracle 10g Advanced Security to use SSL concurrently with database User names and passwords
In Oracle Advanced Security Documentation it is mentioned that i can use SSL concurrently with DB user names and passwords. But when i configure the client certificate on the client my DB connection is getting authenticated using the certificate, which out passing user id or password.
We want to connect to Oracle DB over SSL channel so that the data packets are not in clear text. Also we want the user to make a connection using user id and password.
Basically we want SSL with out authentication.
    Need your expert advice

  • Uninstall oracle 10g from Linux Red hat

is any body know the standard procedure to uninstall oracle 10g from linux red hat.

The correct answer is "Undo the changes you made during the install"
    By this I mean:
    Stop all of the processes
Delete the ORACLE_BASE directory (usually the one one level up from ORACLE_HOME)
Delete the oraInventory directory if it isn't inside ORACLE_BASE
    Delete /etc/oratab, /etc/oraInst.loc
    Delete /user/local/bin/coraenv, /user/local/bin/oraenv, /user/local/bin/dbhome
Undo any environment settings you may have modified (in .bash_profile and bashrc)
That should be just about it. That's how I usually clean out my system between installs.

NehaHi Neha and welcome to the forum!
What about environment variables? Have you deleted them also?

  • Can Oracle 10g EM manage DB2 or SQL Server

Need to know if Oracle 10g EM do have the capability to manage DB2 and SQL Server, as ct has this requirement. If so ct will manage all DB`s using Oracle 10g EM and use it for his enterprise.

Manage, no. Monitor, yes, so long as you don't mind a bit of work.
Now, for SQL Server, I expect you'll see the capability as a result of the Peoplesoft acquisition in a future release.
DB2, well that's a bit of work if you care that much about it. Grid R2 has a lovely SDK for developing your own plugins to monitor whatever the heck you like. It's alot easier to do in R2 than R1...

  • Trying to uninstall oracle 10g express edition

    Hello,
    The title says it all.
I installed the application earlier and I'm now trying to unistall it.
I tried to use the "classic" unistall function from the control panel but it didn't work. When I clicked "unistall" the oracle icon disappeared and but the program is still there.
Is there any other way to unistall it?
The version is "oracle 10g express edition" installed on Windows vista.
Thanks in advance for you're help!
    Gladys.

I used this process and it worked:
    1. Stop all oracle services
    2. Delete all oracle registry entries
    3. Delete C:\program files\oracle directory
    4. Delete oracle_home directory
    5. Delete oracle items from the start menu.
Interesting link for other that may be in the same situation in the future:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/misc/ManualOracleUninstall.php
    extract from the link:
    QUOTE
In the past I've had many problems uninstalling all Oracle products from Windows systems. Here's my last resort method:
    * Uninstall all Oracle components using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI).
    * Run regedit.exe and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE key. This contains registry entires for all Oracle products.
    * Delete any references to Oracle services left behind in the following part of the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Ora*
It should be pretty obvious which ones relate to Oracle.
    * Reboot your machine.
    * Delete the "C:\Oracle" directory, or whatever directory is your ORACLE_BASE.
    * Delete the "C:\Program Files\Oracle" directory.
    * Empty the contents of your "c:\temp" directory.
    * Empty your recycle bin.
At this point your machine will be as clean of Oracle components as it can be without a complete OS reinstall.
Remember, manually editing your registry can be very destructive and force an OS reinstall so only do it as a last resort.

  • Unable to uninstall Oracle 10g products

I am on Solaris 10.5 SPARC 64 and just installed Oracle 10g successfully, but can deinstall.
I am trying to uninstall oracle products I just installed. But each time I run the Oracle Universal Installer to perform deinstall, I see "There are no installed products" on the welcome screen.
    Any idea?
Here is what I am doing:
Start Oracle Universal Installer as follows:
    $ $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin/runInstaller
In the Welcome window, click Deinstall Products

Most of us, perhaps almost all of us, deinstall Oracle products from real operating systems (Solaris, Linux, etc.) by going to the directory where it was installed and typing:
rm -rf *There aren't any DLLs or registries or other such nonsense.
But do not issue the above command unless you understand what it is and what it does. I can not be held legally liable for anyone's misuse of the commands. So what tihe use of the Oracle Documentation? Anyway thank you! Deleted!
