Uninstalling Photoshop CS2 from tiger

I have a macbook running 10.4.11 and I have a version on Adobe Photoshop CS2 installed that is very slow and wonky. It was installed at an old office and I do not have the CD's. I want to uninstall it and install a new version of CS3 which I heard works a lot better. Any ideas on the best way to do this?? Thanks-Mott

Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:
AppZapper
CleanApp
Yank
SuperPop
Uninstaller
Spring Cleaning
Look for them at www.versiontracker.com or www.mackupdate.com.

  • Opening Photoshop CS3 psd files in Photoshop CS2 (Mac Tiger 10.411)

Is it possible to open Photoshop CS3 psd files in Photoshop CS2? After I created them in Photoshop CS3 I reset the preferences to maximize compatibility "always", then I resaved all the psd files. Do you think this will work? I have to open them in CS2 tomorrow at work...

Also, some old features may have changed in the new version. Specifically, I had some CS3 files from a client that had smart objects that did not open correctly in CS2.
As I recall, CS2 was able to open a flattened version of the file, just not fully layered with smart objects.
I actually had CS3 on my laptop, just not on the tower I wanted to work on, so I opened the files on the laptop, rasterized the smart objects, and saved. After this, CS2 opened the files with layers.

  • Uninstalling Photoshop CS4 from a Mac with Yosemite, which cannot open CS4.

  • Unable to reinstall Photoshop CS2 from Creative Suite

I had to uninstall Creative Suite CS2 because I wanted to try CS5.  Come  to find out after a lot of frustration unable to do because I have a  G5  that does not have an intell processor.  When I tried to reload the  Creative Suite CS2 the Photoshop was grayed out.  Unable to click onto  it to install.  Any suggestions?  I am a web and graphic desighner with  no photoshop! UGH!  Please respond.  Thank you

If you find no other option, try cleaning up your machine and then run the installer again. Following kb will help you to cleanup your machine manually -
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331301.html
Or if you are able to run CS5 cleaner tool and you have *NO* other Creative Suite product installed. Click 'Clean all' button for CS3/CS4 and CS5. You can download the cleaner tool from the following location -
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
Also empty your trash before running the CS2 installer.

  • How do I uninstall Photoshop CS2 on Mac OSX 6.4.11

I am getting the error "Could not complete your request because of a program error" on starting CS2 or on doing any operations.
I have tried simply trashing the CS2 folder and reinstalling. Get same error.
Need to uninstall other parts. How do I do that???
    I cannot locate an uninstaller
    What need to be trashed?

At least since CS3, for sure, there's an uninstaller for Photoshop that gets installed in ./Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/ when you install Photoshop.  Can't remember whether there was one for CS2 already or not.
Re-installing without first trashing Photoshop preferences is futile, as you end up right back where you started.  To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Command+Option+Shift. Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"; or remove the files manually.  This tech note describes the location of Photoshop preferences files in CS4; I can't immediately locate a similar note for CS2.
You should also Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility before and after every installation, re-install, update or upgrade of any application or the OS.

  • Uninstalling Photoshop 7 from Mac 10.5.4

    Hello,
I am using Photoshop CS3 and would like to uninstall PS v.7.
Instead of deleting the folder (adobe PS 7)... Is there an better way of doing this?
    Thank you in advance
    Carlos

    Hi sflocation,
Nope, that's pretty much it. If you want to go one step further look in your preference files for any Photoshop 7 or ImageReady 7 folders or files i.e. Settings, Paths and so forth. User > Library > Preferences > Adobe Photoshop 7
The only thing to watch out for is if you made any presets that you should save from PS7 for use in PS CS3... brushes, styles, patterns, that sort of thing.

  • Accidentally uninstalled Photoshop Cs6 from 'Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection'

Okay, so I was just using Photoshop and then my friend wanted me to try and airdrop it to her since she didn't have photoshop. I tried to airdrop it to her and it failed. Later on, my photopshop icon had an question mark on it and i realized that it won't open. I started to play around and accidentally uninstalled it by going to Applications->Utilities->Adobe Installers and clicked on Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection. After uninstalling it, I thought I could reinstall it again but I can't find any files or whatsoever to install it again.

Please download and install it from here:

  • Showing tranformation controls, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Mac Tiger

The 'show transformation controls' are checked but the controls do not display. Going to Edit - transform - ...... they will display, but then disappear again and do not show on re selecting with the move tool.
This has only just started to happen on the Mac and does not correspond to any upgrades or new software and has been working fine since the installation of CS2 quite some time ago.

    Try trashing your preferences?
(Hold down the Shift+Option+Command keys AS you launch Photoshop. You'll get a little dialog to delete your settings.)

  • How do I uninstall Photoshop 7 from Snow Leapard

Silly me.  Running Mac OS X version 10.6.3 on my MacBook Pro and tried to save some money by installing Photoshop 7.   An old Adobe Illustrator 10 works just fine, but Photoshop 7 complains when I try to open it.
    Error message:
"An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit."
There is no uninstall program on the DVD and I don't want to drag the icon into the trash because I'm under the impression this will not remove all the Photoshop files and extras.
Am I hosed or can this program be removed painlessly?

    AppZapper or AppDelete
Both of these offer free trial versions (but it's worth the price to buy either on - I use AppZapper)
Download either, and drg the PS7 application to the window of the app.
It will locate ALL files associated with PS7 and show you them. Then you can send them to the trash en masse.

  • How to uninstall photoshop CS2

I have tried everything to uninstall an old version of CS2. Is there anything that works?

Sometimes the Add/Remove programs in Windows does not work on CS2.
If you have your original CS2 disc, you run the installer and use the Remove option if the Control panel does not work.
CS2 Mac version is only for the older PPC Macs or OSX 10.6.8 Macs running Rosetta. Small chance you have this.

  • Photoshop CS2 Serial Number

Where do I find the serial number on an uninstalled Photoshop CS2?

Normally on a sticker on the disc envelope... but you won't be able to install and activate CS2 unless you use the special version from the link below

  • Photoshop CS2 won't let me open?

I received Photoshop CS2 from Adobe because they shut down the CS server, killing my program. I installed the program using their serial number and when I open it, it says the serial number was not installed and then when I push 'ok' it shuts down. How do I fix this

Hi there! Because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Downloading, Installing, Setting Up forum, where you'll get more specialized help.

  • Same Photoshop CS2 activation issue with new installer also.

Dear Adobe support team, we have downloaded the Photoshop cs2 from the link http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html. As per your suggestion I un-installed the older version and installed new version and tried to activate the product. But I have failed to activate as per your instruction. I want to get rid of activation message. Kindly also let us know what all do we have to un-install before the fresh installation.

    Thanks for your support.
We are able to active CS2 in administration login. Now there is no activation message.
Now there is a different message window popping up. Every time I launch Photoshop CS2, the adobe updater message is popping up. I am not able to take screen shot of the window. We tried deactivating this in msconfig options but no success.

  • Photoshop cs2 download

I tried downloading photoshop cs2 from adobe but it won't install. It keeps saying "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacture for assistant."
This is a free download that was provided by adobe on accident (supposedly). It works on my windows laptop so I assume it has something to do with apple? How can I get it to work?

.exe files require Windows to be installed on your Mac:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2741
CS2 I also believe may be too old to run on your Mac.  See this page to find out what operating systems it works with:
    http://www.roaringapps.com/
If it says it is not compatible with 10.7 or later, you can also install 10.6 Server on your Mac following these directions to use CS2 for the Mac:
Rosetta/PowerPC Applications and Lion and above
But it has to be for the Mac to run on your computer without using Windows.
