Uninstalling PSE 7, 8, 9 and 10

I have PSE 7, 8, 9, 10 and now 11.  My Norton diagnostics program reports I have too many prorgrams and should uninstall some.  I did not uninstall PSE as I updated newer  versions.  If I uninstall 7 - 10, will I lose catalog files or otherwise do harm?

Thank you very much for your help.  mike

Okay, so, fast forward from July to now -
    - I've visited my closest Apple store's genius bar twice now. (Over an hour and a half away.)
    - My computer spent at least 8 hours behind their closed doors in the workshop
    - Several complete erases of the harddrive have taken place
    - Most of the Apple geniuses I dealt with were nice and very knowledgeable, but they were and still aren't 100% sure exactly what is wrong with my computer.
    The good news is:
    - They were able to at least get it running again, with a clean install from their servers of OS X Lion 10.7.5
    - They believe that my problems stem from either 1 of 2 things:
            - Faulty Hard Drive (even though it is brand new)
             - The wrong build of software being installed.
Now, while the wrong build does seem like it could be the problem, it doesn't make sense in the aspect that all of the initial problems began when the first hard drive failed. The same problems continued when I changed out the failed hard drive with the brand spanking new one, and only slightly improved when I was able to successfully install the OS that came with the original disks for my computer. I'm not convinced this thing is back to normal, but hopefully I can make it last through getting a shiny new retina Macbook Pro in the coming future. Thank you so much to everyone who read and replied to this post!

  • I had to uninstall PSE 12 can not reinstall it, how do I do it???

Since I bought the paid version of PSE12 I have had nothing but problems. So folks said uninstall it, of course I was hesitant, since it did not seem to work well when my IT guy installed it.
Si I did today, have a disc and the # and it almost is finished, when this shows up:
The following applications are using files that need to be updated by this setup.
Close the applications and click retry,
It will not go any farther.
Called customer service, who kept me on hold for 20 minutes, barely could understand her, than she sent me to forums.adobe.com
I am so irratated. My 8000, pictures have dissapeared and how do I get this reinstalled???
    Can someone please help me.

Uninstalling PSE does nothing to your pictures. They are stored separately from the catalog.
What exactly does the message tell you to close? Which programs?

  • Uninstall PSE 10 (to install 12)

I had PSE 10 and Premier 9 installed in Win.7^64. Bought PSE 12 and Premier 12.   PSE 10 is not listed in Control Panel for uninstalling.  (Noticing after its long use only when  I wanted to UN-install).  PSE 12 won’t install unless PSE 10 is gone.  No idea how to UN.install PSE 10. So far, feel screwed.  Premier 12 won't install, either.

For manually uninstallying PSE10, please see the article: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/manually-remove-photoshop-elements-10.html
Just to let you know: Any two (or more) versions of PSE/PRE can co-exit. For intalling PSE/PRE12 you don't need to uninstall PSE/PRE10.

  • Uninstall PSE 11 Before PSE 12 Install?

Ready to upgrade to PSE 12 from PSE 11. Have lots of photo files in the Organizer. Do they import automatically in the same folders/albums as in PSE 11?  Easier to uninstall PSE 11 and just re-import the files from my cam cards? I want a trouble-free install. Thanks!

  • How do I uninstall PSE 12. It is not listed in Windows control panel. I have PSE 13

How do I uninstall PSE 12. It is not listed in the control panel ow Windows 7. I have upgraded to PSE 13, and it IS listed in the control panel.

    Hi,
If you are not able to uninstall the software in the usual way from Programs and Features, you could try a third party uninstaller such as the application detailed below.
Download and install the free version of Revo Uninstaller from the link below.
    http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-freeware-version.php
Run revo and see if this detects the installation.  If it does, right click on the icon of the program you wish to remove and select Uninstall. During the process you may be asked to delete registry entries, just select all and then click delete. Do the same for any left-over files and folders. Once the uninstall has completed, restart the notebook.

  • Should I uninstall PSE Ver 9 before installing PSE Ver 12 retail pack?

MY laptop came with PSE Ver 9 preloaded.
I have bought the discs for PSE Ver 12 ( Photoshop and Premier Elements ) In Amazon.
Should I uninstall Version 9 using the Program Features Uninstall routine. BEFORE loading Ver 12?

    THanks Barbara
interested when you say missing features, that can be copied over?
Is  there any Performance degredation associated with leaving a redundant program there.? Ie will the unused program slow down ver 12? Eg will it clog up shared services etc.
or more likely, ( after my nightmare trying to load PSE VER 12,  when it had to be uninstalled - it eventually took one of their top technicians 3.5 hours of manual clean up) is there a bigger risk in uninstalling ver 9.
In light how badly Version 12 uninstalls is this a nightmare too?
my preference is to go for ultimate performance over a few aextra features.
I Got more than I need atm lol!

  • Uninstalling PSE 9 leaves Elements Organizer 9.0 audio driver in Protools

This is a weird one.  I've uninstalled PSE 9 but I still get an "Elements Organiser 9.0" option in audio drivers for the Protools 11 Playback Engine.  I'd like to find a way of removing it but can't.  The install has removed all of the Adobe Uninstaller tools so I can't go in to check if I left an uninstall option unselected.
Any ideas?  Can I manually uninstall whatever has been left behind?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Uninstall PSE 6 (previous post answer did not work)

I installed PSE 9 about a year ago, PSE 6 never went away.  When I insert a memory card into my card reader, both photo downloaders come up and try and read them, (no these two versions DON"T live happily together!).  I am running Vista on a PC, tried to uninstall using the 'remove programs' option from the Control Panel, only PSE 9 shows up, not PSE 6.  Looked in 'Programs/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 6.0' for any uninstall programs for this version and cant find anything.  If I don't notice that PSE 6 is the downloader that gets there first, and shut it down, it causes me much pain and grief cleaning up the mess that it causes.
Is it possible to uninstall PSE 6 without confusing PSE 9?  How to do that?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for responding.
    1. I don't (intentionally) use PSE 6 any longer.
    2. When I installed PSE 9, I either selected an option to remove it as part of the install, or I tried to uninstall it using Control Panel.  I just don't remember which.
    3. I don't know where the application for PSE 6.0 is kept.  I see in PSE 9.0 there are two folders, 'Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 9', and 'Program Files/Adobe/Elements 9 Organizer'.  The folder '.../Elements 9 Organizer' is where the applications reside.  For PSE 6, I only have the folder '.../Photoshop Elements 6', not a folder called '.../Elements 6 Organizer'.  I can't find any applications in the '.../Photoshop Elements 6' folder.
Something must have happened during the uninstall of PSE 6 and at this point my preference is to get it uninstalled completly to clean up my PC.  It does not seem that the PSE 6 Organizer is registered any longer, I don't know what is firing off the Downloader, and how it is running the old Organizer.
    Again, thanks for your help.

  • If you uninstall PSE 9 & reinstall it will PSE rebuild my organiser?

I need to uninstall PSE 9 and then reinstall it (to hopefully resolve some problems).  If I do this, will PSE on the reinstall, rebuild the Organiser as it is with all my categories, tags and albums etc.,or will I have to start all over again?

Thanks Ankush, you set my mind at rest and I successfully uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 9 whilst keeping my organiser's photo-collection all safe and correctly tagged etc.
One thing though for anyone reading this discussion, with PSE 9 (and I believe PSE 8 too), it is important to deactivate PSE 9 BEFORE uninstalling it (which I did).  This is found under Help in the Editor.
So that was the good news, the bad news is that uninstalling and reinstalling PSE 9 didn't help my problems (not finding and playing music files for slideshows) as they remain not installed. Maybe, there is a preference file or something like that which is carried forward within the catalog or somewhere in PSE from other versions of PSE that were on my PC.  Hey ho!

  • Upgraded to PSE 8-Can I uninstall PSE 5?

I bought an Upgrade version of PSE 8, and rather than upgrade my original PSE 5 to PSE 8, it has installed PSE 8 in parallel to ver 5, which is OK, but can I uninstall PSE 5 without affecting my new PSE 8? Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to do this?
    Alan

If the original poster has converted his PSE5 catalog to V8, then this shouldn't be a problem. I would not recommend you trying to keep your catalog in two different versions of PSE, that is always a recipe for confusion plus duplicate work.

  • I´m intending to uninstall PSE 10 on my Vista-computer..

I´m intending to uninstall PSE 10 on my Vista-computer....
Then I´m intending to install PSE 12 instead! The uninstallprogram wan´t me to uninstall my serialnumber on PSE 10 BEFORE I uninstall the program...    Can I uninstall the both thing at the same time or do I have to uninstall the serialnumber BEFORE uninstalling the program?

There is no need to deactivate PSE10 if you are installing PSE12.
In fact there are good reasons to keep both.
They will have separate serial numbers and will work independently.

  • Uninstall PSE 7

I am trying to uninstall PSE 7 XP using the Control Panel.  The process starts, but then "stalls" with CPU usage at 100%.  Everything locks up which requires a hard shutdown.  When I try to run the program, I get an error message.  Is there a manual way to uninstall PSE?  Thanks

OK I don’t normally recommend messing about in the registry unless you know what you are doing but you can, if you wish, and at your own risk, follow all these instructions very carefully.
Personally I would leave it where it is.

  • Uninstalling PSE 9 - cannot deactivate auto analyzer

I upgraded to PSE 12. I tried to uninstall PSE 9 using Adobe's "Uninstall Elements 9" app. But I keep getting stuck because it tells me I have to close "elementsautoanalyzer" to continue. I turned it off in PSE 12 Organizer. But everytime I go into PSE 9 Organizer > Prefs the app crashes.
I've restared my computer, didn't help. Any suggestions?  TIA!
