Uninstalling PSE 9 leaves Elements Organizer 9.0 audio driver in Protools

This is a weird one.  I've uninstalled PSE 9 but I still get an "Elements Organiser 9.0" option in audio drivers for the Protools 11 Playback Engine.  I'd like to find a way of removing it but can't.  The install has removed all of the Adobe Uninstaller tools so I can't go in to check if I left an uninstall option unselected.
Any ideas?  Can I manually uninstall whatever has been left behind?
Thanks,
Mike

  • Elements Organizer 10 - no audio AND no thumbnails on AVCHD files

    Hi All,
I'm running Elements Organizer 10, and am seeing some strange behavior in that, since upgrading to 10 (from 9)
    - none of my .mts files will play any sound in the Media Browser viewer and
    - new .mts files that I import into the catalog have no thumbnails
The files do have thumbnails in Windows Explorer.
I can play the files, with sound, using both VLC and Windows Media Player.
Importing the files in Organizer 9 did generate thumbnails and playback with audio.
Premiere Elements 10 does generate clip thumbnails and successfully plays audio, too.
So - it seems to be somthing very specific to version 10 and the Organizer - not machine-wide.
I noticed that playback in the Media Browser viewer invoked the Haali Media Splitter I have installed on my machine.  Thinking that might be the wrong codec, I uninstalled it.
I could still play in VLC and WMP, but double-clicking in Organizer gave an error message that no appropriate codec was installed.
So, I installed ffdshow to see if that avc codec could be used, still no luck.
Reinstalled latest version of Haali, back to same behavior (no audio, no thumbnails) in Organizer - everything else working.
So, I can work by dragging the clips from Organizer onto VLC so I can play the video with sound while tagging, but I'm concerned that it's not working and that whatever the base problem will manifest itself more seriously later.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for the input...
I did go back and confirm that I'm running the latest QT for my machine 7.7 (1680.34) according to the QT Player.
Just in case, I re-downloaded the QT Installer and Repaired the installation. No change in behavior in Organizer.
I don't think it's QT that is used for AVCHD files, tho, is it? I tried to play my video in the QT player, and it won't play .mts...
Also, as others suggested, I did attempt to 'activate' the AVCHD plugin - but, didn't get any new popups or dialogs (it might have happened when I originally installed and I didn't pay attention to it)...
I had previously right-clicked on a clip in organizer and selected "Edit in Premiere Elements...", put the clip on the timeline, played and scanned thru the clip, saved the Project.  But, based on yours and the other suggestions, (I did this a few times with different clips) I created a new project, Get Media from Files and Folders, loaded a clip, dragged to timeline, played/scanned, double-clicked to bring up the previewer in Element - everything works as expected.
Back to Organizer - same behavior as before.
Uninstalled Haali again, and tried all of the 'plugin activation' steps again.  No change except Organizer still complains of not having the required codec.
So - for some reason, the organizer thinks it should use the Haali Media splitter as the codec for avchd - everything else on my machine seems to be able to find a more suitable codec - vlc, wmp, pre all work fine.
Did some more surfing on the forums, and found some references to Premiere Pro using the Haali media splitter (?).
So, one other piece of info - Prior to Elements 9, I did have Premiere Pro installed on this machine.  Very nice, but overkill for what I want to do.  So, I uninstalled it prior to installing Premiere Elements 9.  Everything worked fine w/ 9, but not with 10.
So - is there some way to determine which codec Organizer is using and/or force it to use a specific one?
Is it possible (seems likely with the symptoms) that there was some configuration file or registry entry left over from Pr that is now directing Organizer to use the same codec that it previously used (instead of the default)?
Thanks all!!  Normally I'd be able to figure this out, but am pretty new to 'the inner workings' of Pre.
    Thanks,
          Scott

  • When I uninstalled Elements Organizer 9 my CD drive was disabled.  How to fix?

EO 9 was included on the C drive of my current computer, aa Dell Inspiron One2320 with Windows 7 Home Premium/Service Pack 1 installed.  Photoshop Elements and Photoshop Elements Organizer were also on the C drive -- or were the supplied on a set of CDs? -- I didn't pay a lot of attention because... well, it was some promotional freebie, right?  And most of my work involves either MS Office or the Nero suite of audio processing utilities, anyway.
But since I love Photoshop I eventually ran the "install" to see what Elements Organizer does.  It did nothing relevant to my needs, but I left it for future exploration.
But subsequently, every time I inserted a CD, whether an audio CD for ripping or a blank for burning, EO launched its application window AND a Windows Explorer window, which I just had to close.  It was a pain in the neck and I finally became too irritated, and ran the "uninstall".
I was able to do all my Nero work until I shut down my PC that day, but when I powered up the next day, and ever since, no application recognizes a disk when I insert it, even though Windows Device Manager tells me that the drive is working properly.  It's probably some kind or Registry issue, but there's no way I know how to trace the problem and fix it.
Any hints on where I should go for help?

You seem to be quite competent with computers so I will tell you how to
    change the windows registry:
The AutoPlay feature may not be turned on. To turn on AutoPlay, follow
    these steps:
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. Type regedit, and then click OK.
    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
    4. Double-click Autorun and see whether a zero or a one is displayed
        in the Value data box.
If the value for Autorun is 1, go to step 5.
If the value for Autorun is 0, right-click Autorun, and
then click Modify. In the Value data box, type 1, and then
            click OK.
    5. Locate and then click the following subkey:
        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
    6. Double-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun to see its value. If the value is
0xb5, the AutoRun feature for CD-ROMs is turned off. To turn on
the AutoRun feature, follow these steps:
         1. Right-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun.
         2. Click Modify.
         3. In the Value data box, type 91.
         4. Select Hexadecimal, and then click OK.
    7. Exit Registry Editor.
Test to determine whether the issue is resolved. If the issue is
    resolved, you are finished.
Normally I DONT't recommend people to mess around with Windows Registry
but I have done an exception in your case.

  • Restoring Elements Organizer from a hard drive.

I recently bought a new computer with the latest verson of Windows on it. I loaded my Adobe Elements 5.0 onto it and plugged in my hard drive. But now I can't bring up all the photos I have (10,000 or so) in the Organizer. I've tried File/Restore, clicked on Hard Drive, but then I'm stimied.I need to browse for a file. I didn't know what file to look for. I did a little research and found I am looking for a .psa file. I did a search for them on my hard drive and found one from Chrismas Eve (24 Dec). Great! I thought. But Elements will only allow me to search for .tly files. From my research, a .tly file appears to me to be a newer version of .psa file.So I searched for .tly filels on the hard drive and found one from way back in October.
What's going on? I'm pretty confused!
    Sandy McRuer

Step 1. Install PSE5 on your new computer (sounds like you have done this already)
Step 2. Download and install the PSE 5.0.2 patch
Step 3. Move your .psa file to the new computer
Step 4. Move your photos to the new computer, and they must be in the exact same location as they were in on the old computer
Step 5. Double-click on the .psa file
Step 6. (May or may not be necessary) http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb400848&sliceId=1

  • Latest SoundMax HD Audio Driver is Very Static

I had a botched install of Windows and redid everything with all the latest drivers from the website.  However, the newest audio driver has a very pop or crackle that occurs when playing music from any program or source including youtube, audacity, winamp, media player (both audio files and video files).  Is there any way to correct this?  I've had a lot of trouble with the audio driver specifically for a very long time and was hoping to get some guidance on this before I attempt to uninstall and switch back to the original audio driver.  And just to add, this problem seems to happen only when docked to my advanced mini dock.  When I use the built in speakers or headset, there's no static.... so I'm not quite sure what is going on here...

personally I'm not a big fan of the SoundMAX suite on the Touchsmat PC.  I bought a creative 5.1 USB card and has plenty more features including better overall sound performance.

  • How do I uninstall Elements Organizer while keeping Elements.

Organizer has messed up the alphabetical sorting of my thousands of files even while viewing them with Picasa viewer.
    This is truly unbelievable.
So far, the thousands of Google hits concerning uninstalling Organizer have returned either asinine replies or Rube Goldberg contraptions.
I'm a newbie in Elements/Organizer after deciding to go the paid way instead of using GIMP/Picasa and other freebies for I don't know how long..
    What a disapointment! What a let-down!

You can't uninstall the organizer and keep the editor, but you don't have to use the organizer. Many people don't. Just use file>open in the editor instead.

You might also ask for help in the Lightroom forum.
What I have found is that when I upgraded from PSE12 to 13, my Lightroom 5.6 still selected PSE12 in the list of external editors. I had to use the preferences menu to select the right PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 13 folder. I got a message stating that Photoshop Elements was already selected as external editor. In that message box, there is a button with the option to 'change anyway', which I did. Now LR correctly opens PSE13 when I choose Edit in Elements.

  • How to get photos back out of the Elements organizer. Didn't know I could leave them in IPhoto and just edit with Elements.

I imported all my photos from IPhoto into the Elements organizer before I read enough to see I could use the Editor alone with using the organizer. How do I get my photos back out of the Organizer?

  • Elements Organizer (photoshop elements 11) stops working and shuts the program down.

I have had Photoshop Elements for several years - first used version 3   then 8 (lost in the 2010 Nashville Flood)  bought 9 last year) - then 11 purchased in Dec 2012.
I had trouble installing 11 (Premier and photoshop kept locking up in the install process)   finally installed after 8 hours of problems when I did a clean boot uninstalled Virus protection etc.
Very Frustrating.  Installing on HP Pavilion purchased after the flood - 3gigs ram - windows 7 operating system.  I have over 2000 pics and HD video clips on the hard drive and during the final installation the files were (converted)  according to the install
I tried the "Online Chat" and was cut off
I've been unable to use the new Organizer since it shuts down.   Tried several times over several days with the same results.
Today I transfered a number of photos (jpeg) from Zip drive to the hard drive - followed the instructions on page 9 of the all too brief booklet and
    - the pics came up on the screen --HOORAY
UNFORTUNATELY THE CELEBRATION WAS PREMATURE - Organizer stopped AGAIN   HELP!!!

    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Organizer.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete settings file; click Yes.  It will open with default preferences.
    Solution 3:
Start PSE to get to the Welcome screen.
Hold down the Shift key and click Organizer . Keep holding down the keys until you see the Catalog window.
Select your catalog and click Repair.  Select “repair anyway” even if PSE doesn’t find problems.
Then for good measure, click Optimize.
If repairing resolves your issue then fine else repeat the above steps, but click New to create a new catalog.  If you’re able to import photos into the new catalog and the Organizer works fine, then problem can be old catalog.
In that case you can try regenerating the thumbnails.  Do Show All, Edit > Select All, and then Edit > Update Thumbnail.
Please delete the following files from the location : C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\9.0\Organizer
    psa.prf
    status.dat
Now go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer\ and run the exe PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe with Admin rights.
If you are on MAC, you will get the files psa.prf and status.dat at ~/library/app support/adobe/elements organizer/9.0/organizer. Post deleting them try launching Organizer.
try and let me know your comments.

  • Elements Organizer 9 does not install with PS Elements

I have installed Photoshop Elements Version 9 on a Windows 7 64 bit system. Photoshop Elements installs and works good... but the Organizer does not install and of course will not load either. I have uninstalled installed and reinstalled several times... still no luck.
I can tell it is not installed because when I look in the Program Files (x86) under Adobe... the Photoshop Elements 9 folder is there but the Elements Organizer 9 is not there.
How can I get organizer installed?
    Thanks...
    Rod

Follow the below link, remove all the entries for PSE 9 from the machine and then try to install again. This time the organizer should get installed.

  • PSE 8.0 : Organizer application was closed unexpectedly

    Hello,
I use PSE 4.0 on Windows XP SP3 to manage more than 64,000 photos
Since I have over 60000 pictures, I have many crashes of PSE 4.0.
    So I downloaded PSE 8.0.
    I have 3 environments photos:
1: All the photos (about 64,000 photos)
      2: Tests (approximately 1,300 photos)
      3: Archives (about 1,700 photos)
The conversion of the catalog "Tests" was conducted smoothly and response times are ok: open PSE 8.0 and display 1,300 thumbnails by 8 seconds, development or reduction of a category in less than a second, memory occupancy below 15% in searches.
The conversion of the catalog "Archives" was performed without problem, but PSE 8.0 was closed during the generation of thumbnails with the message: "Adobe has detected that the Elements Organizer application was closed unexpectedly" with a fault report that I sent to Adobe (no response to date after more than a week).
I restarted Organizer and it ended well.
But now the response times are extremely long: open PSE 8.0 and display of the 1700 thumbnails in 58 seconds, development or reduction of a category in 15 seconds, memory occupancy above 95% constantly.
By viewing the Windows Task Manager, I noticed that the Organizer has almost 100% of memory when it is open and it takes about 1 minute after closing the display PSE.
I deleted the catalog, uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 8.0, and make a new conversion with always the same crash.
I deleted all the photos of catalog, keeping only the tags (about 1,700), with always the same crash : do I have too many tags ?
Someone had already this problem ?
    Thank you for your responses.

Ok for the « normal » trial message, allthough …
    A couple of thoughts :
    - I waited 12 to 18 hours to finish generating the thumbnails.
    - All the auto-analyzer and automatic people recognition are disabled
    - I’ve discovered in “pse-conversion-log_Photos.txt” 4 messages : “logic_error, unable to reorder version set” with versions stacks. So, I’ve suppressed the 4 photos concerned (poison files ?) in the versions stacks of PSE 4.0 and I will convert my catalog another time.
    - With every crash, a file log is generated, that I send to Adobe, as asked. I attach to this message file "Adobe8 crash1.doc" which contains a copy of the message display Adobe and content of the file generated after 6 hours 30 of thumbnails generation.
Thank you again for your interest in my problem.

  • Uninstall Adobe Photoshop Element 9 \ Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5

Silent uninstall | Photoshop Elements 9
hi everyone, I hope I could find an answer to my problem here:
I have a volume licence for adobe photoshop elements 9.0, and I'm trying to uninstall it silently.
I've read the documentation here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/876/cpsid_87681.html but I still can’t uninstall the Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5. Anybody knows what’s the command to uninstall Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5.
This is the command I’m using install the Adobe Photoshop Elements 9:
    Start /wait C:\"Adobe Photoshop Elements 9"\Setup.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"
This is the command I’m using to uninstall Adobe:
    start /w Msiexec /x {007F778D-F15C-4EAB-AE92-071D21FAF632} NOT_STANDALONE=1 /qn

    rmdir /s /q "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Elements9STIForPSE"
anyone has any idea please please please let me know!
    thanks!

This command will uninstall PSE10 silently -
To uninstall ESTK or other plug-n use Step-4. [These steps are for PSE10 ,apply version as 9 accordingly in commands]
    Uninstall PSE-10 in silent mode
Open the command prompt in the administrator mode.
(Windows XP) Choose Start > Run. Enter cmd in the Run window, and press OK.
(Windows 7 and Windows XP) Click Start (Windows-Logo), and type "cmd". Press [Shift]+[CTRL]+[ENTER].

  • Uninstall PSE 11 Before PSE 12 Install?

Ready to upgrade to PSE 12 from PSE 11. Have lots of photo files in the Organizer. Do they import automatically in the same folders/albums as in PSE 11?  Easier to uninstall PSE 11 and just re-import the files from my cam cards? I want a trouble-free install. Thanks!

  • Elements organizer 10 & 11 rolling & won't hold still for cursor point.

I am on an iMac running 10.7.5 and have plenty of RAM but my Elements organizer kept rolling forward or backward everytime I tried to put a cursor on it to select a photograph. I uninstalled EO10 and downloaded EO11, but the same thing happens. Any ideas?  PLEASE!

It sounds like a very similar problem.  Even touching the mouse to try to click or track can send the images moving so fast it is very difficult to find the image you wanted to work on.
For me, no to the wacom tablet.
Mouse settings allow changing the tracking speed but this has no effect on the crazy fast scrolling speed.  I've tried varying other mouse settings with no effect on the problem.
Carolyn, this is the 3rd version of PSE I've had, and it shouldn't work this way!  It's good software, but this scrolling issue does make it un-usable in the current state.
