Uninstalling quicktime (help please)

I'm going through the same problems as everyone else, but it won't uninstall for me at all. I keep going into uninstall programs and it goes through the process, but it's still on my computer. I want to install the older version, but it can't until this is gone. It keeps saying something is corrupted.

Thank you so much for your response. Whew that took a good 2 hours. I finally got it fixed. After the failed attempts to uninstall quicktime I found this:
*1. Go to C:\Program Files, then delete the entire QuickTime folder.*
*2. Click Start - Find/Search - All Files And Folders, select the hard drive ( C: ) to look in, type in QuickTime, then click Find/Search. when the list of files appear, right-click on and delete all the ones that you confirm are associated with QuickTime.*
*3. Click Start - Run, type in REGEDIT, then click OK. Click the + in:*
HKEYLOCALMACHINE
Software
*In the Software sub-menu, right-click directly on the Apple Computer entry, then click Delete - Yes.*
*(Note: If you click the + in the "Apple Computer" entry, you'll see "QuickTime" listed there)*
Then I tried uninstalling again and it worked. Then I installed an earlier quicktime and took out itunes and installed itunes 7.4. Everything works fine now. Thanks again though!!

Try running this program and remove any old QuickTime installer configuration that shows up in there. Then try running the QT installer again.

  • "Unable to uninstall old version of Quicktime" - HELP PLEASE!

I am trying hard to install iTunes 7 on my PC and when running the installer it tries to uninstall the old version of quicktime and it cannot. I uninstalled it manually through the control panel, but it said some parts could not be removed. iTunes 7 still will not install. Is my PC messed up or, though iTunes 7 is released, is it just not at the stage where we want to be installing it? Should I wait for an updated version?
As well, the iTunes installer installed Apple Updater. I ran it, and it said my programs were up to date, which is not true seeing as iTunes 7 is not installed.
    Please help!

Just goto the control panel and remove/uninstall all listings for iTUnes AND quicktime.
Go here at microsoft and install the windows cleanup utility http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
Once installed goto start>all programs>Windows cleanup
Remove each listing of iTUnes one at a time, For example if theres 2 or more listings of iTUnes, highlight ONE and click remove, then highlight the seconnd one and remove it ect ect
Do the same for all listings of quicktime
Now scan the system for malware with Ewido http://www.ewido.com
After that disable your antivirus and security programs then head to apple.com to download and install itunes

  • ITunes and QuickTime help please?

I bought some videos in the iTunes Store and they play perfectly fine in iTunes but when I try to play them in the QuickTime Player, the video is slow with still images and a green or black screen. I just hear the audio but the video is messed up. Can you please help me? I don't think there is a problem with the video or audio format because I bought the videos from iTunes. Maybe my computer just doesn't have enough power to play the videos perfectly. Please help and thanks in advance! And remember, I have Windows Vista Home Premium.

  • Installing/Uninstalling HELP please

    Hi,
This may be the wrong forum but only registered today and tried to open a question in a community forum and new message/topic isn't highlighted.
My immediate problem is last night I downloaded the Blackberry Desktop Software 6.1 I then tried to
    uninstall/remove my existing Blackberry Desktop Software 4.2.1 but I can't? I go
through the motions, 3 screens and the last says remove. I click this then get a
    prompt saying:-
Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\BlackBerryDesktopSoftware.msi I then have to click cancel,
it rolls back then I have to click finish & the Wizard closes???
    I now have 2 versions of the software installed 4.2.1 & 6.1 !!
I'm trying to remove through add remove programs as that is the prompt I get. I
use XP and IE8, if this helps??
    Can anyone advise please??
    Thanks,

    Dear all,
this is my 3rd day that I spent in front of my computer and my mind start cracking.
Firstly here is my computer config:
    win7 ultimate
    service pack 1
    always "run as administrator".
I had bold 9000 (OS5 - BIS) and and was using/syncing with desktop manger v5.0.1 without any problem over 2year.
3 days ago bought a new bold 9788(OS6 - BIS) and my nightmares started.
Firstly, existed DM start to crashing when I connect my phone. So I downloaded from blackberry web site v6.1version.
I read necessary forums before installing and made clean uninstall for previous DM as per stated ArticleID: KB02206
plus as a medium tech savvy I run registry cleaner program to clean leftovers as I did for my all unistalls. so far noany problem about uninstall process.
when i run the installer installation starts but afterwhile it comes error 1316(a network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:\windows\installer\blackberry desktop software.msi) and installation stops androlling back process.
after that i read all the forums related 1316 error but as now no any solutions. I can't install this software to mycomputer.
here is the list of the procedures i followed so far, but i would like to remind after each installation attempt, Iuninstalled together with complete uncleaning process including with registires and all "research in motions"folders that created during installations and countless reboots.
here is the folders I deleted each time:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\research in motions
    C:\ProgramData\research in motions
    C:\Program Files\research in motions
in some forum manetioned another folder might be created under C:\users\****\appdata\roaming\ -but I dont found any RIM file or folder in this section.
here is the resolutions that i followed so far.
1.) all 4 resolutions explained in Article ID: KB04272
2.) used windows installer clean up app. for uninstall.
3.) i placed "desktop software.msi file inside of the C:\windows\installer folder.
4.) i run setup.exe file from extracted zip file.
5.) deleted registries from registry editor by searching ne by one.
    6.) registered alt.dll for re-installs.
as I can see from the forum pages error 1316 is problem for who want to uninstall software. i just want to install latest desktop software and use my new phone and sync my contacts.
can you please check and let me know if you have any experience how to overcome about this problem ?
    many thanks in advance.

  • Trouble exporting movies and transitions to quicktime help please!!!

man i have lost to much sleep trying to figure this out...lol. Everything plays correctly when i view in play mode, but when i got to export to movie the problems begin. I have video on most pages about 7 pages in total. the video should play automatically, it wont even begin to play on the first page. The hyperlinks don't even want to read properly the first hyperlink i have on the first page works, but it's pretty much a rap after that. Can anyone be of assistance, they made keynote seem like it was a piece of cake...lol i beg to differ...

Hi Cozah, just a quick note: In the past I used Power Point all the time for presentations and conferences. One day, out of curiosity, I tried creating a presentation in Keynote version 1 (a while back, previous to '08).
It was tough at first, I did a lot of trial and error, and reading the help section, but in the end I found Keynote to be more versatile and efficient in creating attractive and nice presentations. Pretty much each time I do a presentation (I usually present to many hard-to-please investors and business owners) using Keynote the two questions people ask me are: (1) who did that presentation, and (2) was the presentation done on Power Point? My answer to both is always, "it's all Keynote" I love using Keynote and Pages (Numbers I am still having a harder time getting used to, I still use Excel all the time), and now I would never return to Power Point and Word, it feels so clunky and coarse. Anyway, that's why I joined the Keynote forum, because I appreciate the application so much... anyway, that's just my opinion and two-pennies worth

  • Uninstalling ClickToFlash - help, please!

    In another thread, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12027398&#12027398,
Carolyn Samit explains how to uninstall ClickToFlash - but either I'm misunderstanding her advice or it doesn't work for me!
I installed ClickToFlash from the Safari extensions gallery at https://extensions.apple.com/ and then found that Google Street View no longer works. I also installed a couple of other Safari extensions (AdBlock and Close All tabs) and those two added icons in the Safari Toolbar - but ClickToFlash appears to have installed nothing.
So, firstly, I have nothing that I can see which I can actually click to ClickToFlash (if you see what I mean!) and secondly, because I have no visible proof that it was installed, save for the legend "Installed" in the Safari extensions gallery, I have no way that I can se of uninstalling it as I have no way of accessing it.
    Carolyn's advice was:
Uninstalling ClickToFlash: for versions 1.5 and later, go to the Settings window and click the "Uninstall ClickToFlash" button. For versions prior to 1.5, navigate to ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ in the Finder, where ~ is your home folder, and delete the item named "ClickToFlash.webplugin" (or "ClickToFlash.plugin").
I have no idea which version I have as I can't access or see it anywhere. Because i can't see it, I can't find any Uninstall button. I am assuming that I have a version greater than 1.5, although I have no way of finding out, because I only installed it last night but, nevertheless, I deleted the webplugin - and that didn't allow me to use Google Street View so i assume that ClickToFlash has done something else (damage?) to my Safari.
Safari is v5.0.2 (6533.18.5) and it, and OSX.6.4 are, to the best of my knowledge, fully up to date and until this debacle operating fine.
How can I rid myself of this piece of software?
    Thanks in advance.
    Message was edited by: iBozz

Thanks, andyBall_uk had the answer. I uninstalled it that way and Street View is now working again.
There was indeed no entry for Flash under Safari > ClickToFlash.
Why did there not appear a Toolbar icon as there is for the other extensions I added? Am I misunderstanding what should happen with this particular item or did it maybe not install correctly?
And, judging by the fact that several others seem to have wanted to uninstall it, is there a bug and/or problem with it?
Thanks for the suggestions, whether or not "your" solution worked!

  • Error installing/uninstalling itunes help please

    hello,
got the latest itunes, and recently i had some hd troubles, so i had to restore my system from acronis (restored the partition using a backup i created).
i try starting itunes and it doesn't want to work. i try installing/uninstalling and it doesn't want to work either.
    i get this message:
"The folder path "My Pictures" contains an invalid character."
i tried restoring 'My documents' to it's original and default locations, but i can't seem to get itunes to run.
any1 know how to fix this ? thanks.

It's a simple fix and doesn't involve reinstalling anything.
With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the libxml2.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Restart the programme all should be well
In case that your OS is (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "libxml2.dll"
    3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Paste file "libxml2.dll" to the location.
    5. Restart the programme, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
    Good Luck

  • Error code 2330. I cannot install or uninstall itunes  HELP PLEASE

I've tried SEVERAL times to download & update my itunes and keep getting error code 2330.  As suggested in other Q&A's, I've run disc check to clean the hard drive, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. I can neither install or delete itunes. What can I do ?  There must be a fix, how do I find it ?

You might need to run the Windows installer cleanup utility....start the troubleshooter for assistance at the following link:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651/

  • I can't install / uninstall Quicktime either! Please help

I've read all the posts on this subject and none of the advice has cured my problem. When I try to run the latest Quicktime install program (having uninstalled Quicktime earlier versions??) I have only 2 options - either Repair or Remove. So Quicktime still exists somewhere on my system? Both the options give the same result - a warning dialog with the following message. "The installer has encounted an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package The error code is 2356." Can someone help?

Thanks for the quick reply but I had tried all that already. To be sure though I just checked again. Windows Install cleanup reports no quicktime installation, there is no Quicktime folder in the C:\program files folder and the files are not present in the C:\Windows\system32 folder.
I also searched the entire PC and the files are not there at all. I also checked the QuickTimeInstallerF30.log located in my profile local settings\temp folder it shows the following:-
    === Logging started: 4/7/2007 23:35:25 ===
    Executing: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe" /i "{5E863175-E85D-44A6-8968-82507D34AE7F}"
    Returned: 1603
Also the log file MSIf6fea.LOG in the same folder shows:-
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2356. The arguments are: QuickTime.cab, ,
    === Logging stopped: 07/04/2007 23:34:16 ===
I'm logged in as the administrator too.
Error message is still the same! The other point to note is that after the error message the install program then looks as though it reverses it first few steps that were completed before the error message.

  • HELP cannot install itunes, uninstall itunes or uninstall quicktime

Hello - Went to upgrade my orig ver of itunes ver 6.0 to the video version to grab some music videos, and that is when all went to ****.
Got an error message that itunes was unable to install to my PC. PC is p4 running winXP sp2/3.
    Error code: -3
Went to uninstall itunes, and got another error message that itunes was unable to complete the task with NO error code.
Also went to uninstall quicktime, and apparently the uninstall is not on my computer. I reinstalled quicktime, which was successful, but after rebooting and then trying to uninstall quicktime again, i got same error message quicktime uninstall cannot be found, quicktime cannot be uninstalled.
I did manage to get itunes successfully uninstalled.
After reboot and clearing out temp files and cache then again rebooting, then attempting to reinstall itunes VER 6.0 just the plain version for windows, NOT the video version, i again got error message that itunes was unable to install on my PC.
    PLEASE HELP.
i cannot seem to load in a successful ver of itunes to listen to music, nor uninstall/install quicktime.
    FYI -
Quicktime will not work when opened through itunes and through start menu, but will work when opened in the program and actually clicking on the .exe button.
pls help! i just want regular ver of itunes without video now, just want to listen to music what i bought, thnx

YES it is a Windows 98 based software, since i was unable to find older ver of Quicktime, i used what i had.
Incidentally, i figured out that when i went to install the Video ver of itunes, the ver 6.0 did not completely uninstall, some files were somehow corrupted.
There is a round about fix located on the windows tech support section which deleted previous Windows installer programs that in turn deletes older versions of programs, you pick from a list that the program detects, and it will delete all older versions.
Here is the link, if you know anyone that needs it..
it fixed my PC, after using this program i was able to successfully install 1st- the standalone version of quicktime, then itunes without incident.

  • Tried to upgrade and after uninstalling and reinstalling several times, keep getting "procedure entry point could not be located in dynamic link library" followed by "iTunes was not installed properly"  Error 7.....Help, please??

Tried to upgrade as instructed and after uninstalling and reinstalling (even back to the former iTunes which I was happy with)several times, keep getting message "Procedure entry point could not be located in dynamic link library"  followed by "iTunes was not installed properly"  "Error 7".    Help, please??

Entry point errors can usually be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of from the programs and features control panel. Unfortunately you neglected to include the detail of which dll is mentioned.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
