Uninstalling the trial version of Lightroom 4.2

I cannot uninstall the program via Windows Vista's "Uninstall or Change a Program." When I try, I get this message, "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation," then this message, "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.2. Please contact your system administrator." I am the sole user of my machine and its administrator. Is there an alternate method for uninstalling the program (apart from deleting everything and cleaning up the Registry)?
Thanks.

In case someone is interested, I found a solution.
1. Recall that when you extract the installation files from Lightroom_4_LS11.exe, you get a PDF file, Install Lightoom 4.exe, and a folder—Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4—that contains setup32.exe and setup64.exe. (I used Install Lightoom 4.exe to install the program because that seemed the obvious way of doing it.)
2. Double-click one of the setup.exe. (In my case, I double-clicked setup32.exe.) A Wizard appears. This is the same Wizard that you get when you use the Change option through Control Panel > Programs & Features (which did not work either).
3. Select the Remove option. This time, it works. At least, it worked for me.

  • How to activate the trial version of lightroom 3

    Hello,
I am new here and need some help.
I have downloaded the trial version of lightroom 3 in my home windows computer and like it very much. I have then proceeded to purchase a box copy which will only arrive after two weeks. However i do not plan to install it on my home computer but my new imac computer at my office where i will do all my photo editing.
My problem is i cannot wait for two weeks for the product to arrive. Can i download another trial version for my new imac in my office and when the box product comes can i just use the serial number and activate the trial version or do i have to uninstall the trial version and reinstall again. According to my seller she says that i cant do this because i need to reinstall the box product again which sounds weird to me.
My other question is the earlier trial version that i installed in my home computer, i dont plan to use it anymore, so can i just ignore it?
    Thanks in advance.

Importing photos puts information for each one into the LR catalog, which is just a database that LR knows how to read and write.  Reopening the catalog with a new install of LR would tell LR where each of those photos is, and what adjustments you'd made.  You don't have to reimport as long as you reopen the same catalog file with the new install.  You could try this on Windows:  uninstall-reinstall-reopen, and see how it works to get comfortable with it.   You only have to reimport if you lose your catalog, and have to start a new one.  If you write the metadata to files, either automatically via a preference, or manually via the Metadata menu item and grid mode, then you can even have your adjustments intact if you have to reimport, but you'll lose your history and other things that are only in the catalog and not in the XMP sidecar files.  These sidecar files is probably the only way to transfer edits from the PC version to the Mac version of LR which you probably hadn't considered.  At least I don't think you can copy the LR catalog file from a PC and open it on a Mac.
If the LR trial expires before you have a serial number then you can't use it, but once you do enter in the serial number, you can pick up where you left off.
Lightroom isn't activated like Photoshop where there is a Adobe-server record of each computer and serial number.  LR is just either an unregistered-trial, an expired-trial or registered.  LR is smart enough to understand if you've installed it on the computer, before, so you can't extend a trial by uninstalling and re-installing w/o reformatting your HD and reinstalling the OS, or at least I think that is enough.

  • I have downloaded the trial version of lightroom.

I have downloaded the trial version of lightroom. Now i have purchased the student and teacher edition of creative cloud, However when I go into my lightroom it still is under the trial set and it either wants me to enter the key code or continue the trial how do i fix this

You should uninstall the LR trial that is asking for a serial number, then quit the CC Desktop app, then restart it, at which point Lr should show in the CC Desktop apps list with an Install button next to it.
There can be only one LR installed at a time, so if your trial is there, the CC Desktop won’t install another.

  • I started a trial of creative cloud and downloaded lightroom. I decided to buy lightroom on amazon because I liked it. Now when I try to license the trial version of lightroom with the serial number, it says it's invalid. Why?

The standalone version and the CC version are both the same exact program, but the licensing is completely different. It will be necessary for you to uninstall the creative cloud trial version and then install the one you purchased from Amazon. After you install, you will be able to open the same catalog and continue from where you were.

Like any trial - it will run for 30 days and you should be prominently notified about it on the trial info screen.

This is a user to user forum, Leah - you get whatever help you get, and be in no doubt, the problem is at your end.
This question comes up about once every day (despite the fact that there's a fully functioning forum search facility), and the solution of using a different browser usually works fine - have you actually tried that?
Also, ensure javascript is enabled, and turn off pop-up blockers.
If none of these work, try downloading from Softpedia or similar.

  • Opening the trial version of lightroom

I downloaded the trial version of lightroom for Mac OS 10.6 yesterday and it appeared to be working properly.  Today I am unable to open the trial version.  What is the rpblem?

Did the program and computer shut down normally?  The first thing I would do is look for a file ending in .lock, usually found next to the catalog.  That file is created to keep more than one user from accessing the catalog at a time and possibly corrupting it.  If the program does not shut down normally for some reason, that .lock file is left behind and the program will think the catalog is in use my another user.  Delete the .lock file (but do not delete others like .journal or .lrcat) and all should be well.  If that is not it, come back and we will try to help you again.

  • Should I uninstall the trial version of Elements 10 before installing all of the discs I purchased?

Should I uninstall the Trial Version of Elements 10 before installing all of the new discs that I purchased on line? I do not have anything to save on the Trial Version. I do not want to run two programs simultaneously.

You do not need to uninstall.  You can choose to enter the serial number for the released product.

  • How can i uninstall the trial version of illustrator off my computer (mac)?

I'd like to be able to uninstall the trial version of illustrator off of my mac, so that i can redownload it and actually try it, as i didn't get a chance to trial it the first time!
    Help Please!!

    cara,
Unfortunately, you can only download a trial version once, no matter whether you used it much, little, or not at all. It only puts the application at your disposal with no tracing of your possible use.
Back in January or thereabouts, a fresh start was made so you could download a second trial, but no trial since then is repeatable.

  • I had to uninstall the trial version of Premier Pro, now I can't download a new one/update anymore?

Since the trial version was not working properly I tried to uninstall it via Adobe, which worked. But now it seems impossible to download a new trial version or get an update, since it was once installed on this PC. But normally I would have had 20 days of trial left, and would appreciate to use them somwhow. Is there anything I can do? It is a Window 8 PC.
    Thanks for help!!

Run the cleaner tool and try again.

  • How to Uninstall the Trial Version of CS4 InDesign, clean?

I need to get back to CS2 InDesign and I don't want to have any issues with my other Adobe products in the meantime, until I purchase the upgrade to CS4 later. I know that I use the installer program. But do I check the 'Remove Application Preferences"?

Last night I uninstalled Creative Suite Premium without removing prefs, and then installed the master collection. I won't say it was 100% smooth, but as far as I can tell that was an anomaly due to my system configuration, and nothing whatever to do with my prefs. It was really nice to see ID and Photoshop loading with all the custom stuff from the past year.
