  • How to uninstall Virtual PC from mac Lion?

    Hi,
    I installed a Virtual PC (7 version) machine on my mac system yesterday but I found it cannot work because the compatible issue, my system is OS X mountain lion. It is always saying "Power PC applications are no longer supported". Now what I want is just uninstall Virtual PC from my mac and I do not want to bother using it. Because what bothers me is that the panel show in the Finder is not like previously shown. There are not the left favoraties column shown any more. I cannot go to the right folder to see files and it create so big trouble! I just want everything back. Another thing is that everytime when it starts up, there will be a box pop up saying like "the virtual machine cannot start up because the setting is not right" things like this. I guess the Virtual PC disorder some settings in OS X system.
    So I only want to unistall this Virtual PC. I guess it can not be remove by just simpy delete the icon in applciations, am I right? I find the "Uninstal Virtual PC" icon in the dmg package, but when I dounble click it, it also shows "You can't open the application "Uninstal Virtual PC" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported"! which drives me crazy. Does anyone know about how to uninstall Virtual PC from mac for this situation? I appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Amanda

    I just followed the instructions and clicked contunue.  I guess I just finished part 1, the installing part. The details are:
    section 1: installing virtual PC
    section 2: setting up virtual PC
    section 3: setting up windows
    In Section 1 you will install the Virtual PC for Mac application and supporting files. You will need to restart your computer at the end of Section 1.
    Section 2 covers personalizing Virtual PC for Mac and the installation of Windows.
    In Section 3, you will configure Windows."
    I clicked continue to let it install (section 1). After that, Mac restarted and it never asked me to set up virtual PC. All the problems aboved mentioned came up afterwards.
    Did I do anything wrong?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
    ''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
    If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
    If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    ''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''

    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
    ''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

    Can u guid me how to uninstall portal from windows machine.
    Also please tell me the installation document procedure or document.
    Regards,
    Shivraj Chalke

    Hi!
    This depends on your EP release.
    For Basis release 6.40 (EP6) there should be an UNINSTSAP.EXE somewhere in your SAP-Filesystem which you need to run. Take care with the options you have, you might delete even the OS-Users (even on the domain) if you just click away without reading.
    For Basis release 7.00 (EP7) you call sapinst and select 'uninstall' under 'Additional Software Lifecycle tasks'. This will guide you through the process of uninstallation.
    If these operations fail you can manually clean the system by removing the files and cleaning the registry. This is only a sort of last resort though.

  • How to uninstall virtual box for osx ?

    I had installed virtual box for mevericks few days back bt after installing m nt able to shut down my macbook n also m unable to access inbuilt apps!  Donn know what to do n also m unable to uninstall virtual box plzz help n tell how to uninstall?

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
    Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
    Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
    Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
    Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
    Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
    If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
    Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
    There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper 2.0.1
        2. AppDelete 3.2.6
        3. Automaton 1.50
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner 2.1.0
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash 1.8.2
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller 1.15.1
      10. Spring Cleaning 11.0.1

    One more doubt, How can I create Shortcuts using Java? I have tried to create desktop icons using following script.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/script56/html/wsconcreatingshortcut.asp
    Shell = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
    DesktopPath = Shell.SpecialFolders("Desktop");
    link = Shell.CreateShortcut(DesktopPath + "\\test.lnk");
    link.Arguments = "1 2 3";
    link.Description = "test shortcut";
    link.HotKey = "CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+X";
    link.IconLocation = "app.exe,1";
    link.TargetPath = "c:\\blah\\app.exe";
    link.WindowStyle = 3;
    link.WorkingDirectory = "c:\\blah";
    link.Save();
    But my Antivirus tool is not allowing this script to run using Java.
    Is there any way to create DeskTop icons for Java application and add entry to Start Menu -- programs..?
    thanks

  • Uninstall "iPod for Windows"?

    I'm trying to uninstall programs that I don't need on my computer anymore. I installed my sister's iPod Mini on here a year and a half ago and then I got a Video iPod last September. I'm trying to uninstall "iPod for Windows 2005-02-07." There are two of these on my computer, but one is dated 2006-06-28. When I try to uninstall the 2005 one it just comes up with an error message after Install Shield opens up. It says "Error: -1639 Invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows Installer SDK for detailed command line help."
    Any suggestions as to what is going on...?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for tips on repairing the iTunes installation. One of the tools mentioned there, Unlocker, should be able to force delete the files that you are having trouble removing.

  • Install on mac virtual machine  windows

    I have a Parallels Vitural machine on my Imac running Windows 7 - I need Dreamweaver on the Windows platform to work on sits that have coldfusion and need mysql database etc. When I try to install app - it says it will not install on Network drive - which is what Parallels has Win7 installed - tried moving the app to my Mac Desktop but it will not launch on the OSX because it is an .exe - So how do I get this going?

    James-int you will want to make sure and install Dreamweaver within the virtual hard drive in the virtual operating system.  You should only be accessing your host operating system for documents.
    For information on how to install under Windows 7 please see Help | Download, install, update, or uninstall apps.  If you are continuing to experiencing difficulties then what specific error messages are you receiving?

  • Virtual PC, Windows & virus protection

    I hope I'm not repeating a question, but I've done a lot of searching and haven't seen it yet...
    I've installed Virtual PC 7.0.1 w/Windows XP Home. If I understand what I read at Mactopia, I shouldn't have to worry about viruses and such on the Mac side of things, but the Windows side could be open to the typical problems.
    So I attempted to install and use the trial version of Panda Titanium 2006 virus software. When it's intalled I start to have all sorts of issues, from error messages re: things not initializing properly to Windows shutting itself down. I thought maybe the Windows firewall being turned on was intefering, so I turned it off and reinstalled the virus software and had the same problems. I have uninstalled the Panda software.
    Is there a recommended virus software that will run more smoothly on Windows XP through Virtual PC? Or should I just try to count on the security updates from Windows and the Windows firewall. Seems risky to me. But I don't want to waste time trying out who knows how many different virus softwares looking for one that runs ok.

    Hi.
    To my experience, any product from F-Secure http://www.f-secure.com/ is a safe bet on any Wintel machine, and they will also work well on a Mac running Windows XP via Boot Camp, or emulating Windows XP with VirtualPC. Together with Kasperky's, all of their products do well in tests compared to other anti-virus programs. I've tried "F-Secure Client Security 6.01" on an iMac G5 (using VirtualPC) and on a Mac mini Intel Core Duo (using Boot Camp) and it works like a charm. F-Secure Client Security is a corporate solution; their "F-Secure Internet Security 2006" is intended for home users, and should also work fine. Both these products include an anti-viral solution as well as a good firewall; if for some reason you feel you don't need the firewall you might try "F-Secure Anti-Virus 2006". Btw, I'm ~not~ related to F-Secure in any way...
    I would stay clear of any anti-virus program from Panda (simply because they don't find all that many viruses...) or from Symantec (because they use too much system resources, making VirtualPC even slower).
    It's often said that there aren't any viruses that run under Mac OS X, and as far as I know that's correct. There are however a few Trojans around that can be troublesome, and most certainly there will be more in the future. Hence, until now using anti-virus programs under Mac OS X has been optional, but that can soon change...

  • Need help installing Virtual box Windows VM's

    I am installing virtual box on wife's mac.   I got the instructions here: http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/04/internet-explorer-for-mac-ie7-ie8-ie-9-free/
    I did it previously and it all worked well. Recently the windows session license expired so I reinstalled that portion and it worked for about a week.  Then the Virtual box program just stopped working.   So I uninstalled the virtual box and am attempting to reinstall all components.
    First step is install Virtual box from here:  https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads   This went ok andvirtual box runs but there are no VM's.
    There is then a script to install the windows VM's.  It is failing.
    Script is accessed by copyinf this command into terminal:
    curl -s https://raw.github.com/xdissent/ievms/master/ievms.sh | bash
    This is the error I get.   It seems there is a file that already exists but I'm stumped as to what to do.

    Here is how I install mine, for numbers I will assume you have a 100GB HDD and 2GB of RAM:
    Boot from Win7 DVD and create two partitions, then install Windows7 on one of them. During the install Windows will create a 3rd partition to boot from. You will now have:
    sda1 - 100MB - Windows Boot - boot flag
    sda2 - 50GB - Windows 7 - no flags
    sda3 - 50GB - Unpartitioned Space - no flags
    Next boot into Arch and choose to manually partition the drives using cfdisk, using the unfinished space create 3 logical partitions of the sizes 100MB, 2GB, and 50GB. Mark the 100MB one you just created with a boot flag and unmark the 100MB one Windows created.
    Now you should have:
    sda1 - 100MB - Windows Boot - no flags
    sda2 - 50GB - Windows 7 - no flags
    sda3 - 50GB - Unpartitioned Space - no flags
    sda5 - 100MB - Linux Boot - boot flag
    sda6 - 2GB - Linux Swap - no flags
    sda7 - 50GB - Arch - no flags
    Click OK/Confirm/Write and then continue to the next step - File Systems and Mountpoints.
    Here you need to set the FS for sda5,6,7 and make sure not to touch sda1,2. Choose ext2 for sda5, swap for sda6, and ext3 for sda7. You will also be asked for mountpoints. Pick "/boot" for sda5 and "/" for sda7. Click OK/Confirm/Write and then continue to install Arch like normal, when you get to installing the bootloader make sure to install it on /dev/sda and uncomment the Windows part of the grub/menu.lst file.
    Reboot the system and you are done
