Unique look and feel based on community...

and not the users experience folder ??? Thoughts?

Much of this depends on how much maintenence you're willing to foist off on the Portal Administrator, how many communities there are, and how often things change.
Back in the day, Plumtree's Content Server gave that ability, though with the other hands it took away scalability, bottlenecking every page request in publishedcontent.jsp.
Depending on your circumstances (which I do not know) you could add a community preference to control some UI stuff and override the stylesheet that's coming to your page via the Experience Definition. This is one way in which I've helped customers retire Content Server.

  • Changing Look and feel of template pagelets

    Hello,
I have a requirement to show different look and feel for different template pagelets.
    Something like:
    Related links - Grey Header
    Related Content - Blue Header
    Other pagelets - Red Header
I was able to acheive this very easily for homepage pagelets by cloning PORTAL_HP_COMPONENT.
But looks like PORTAL_HP_COMPONENT HTML is not used for template pagelets.
Does anyone have any idea which HTML is used to build Template pagelets?
Otherwise how to meet the above requirement?
    Many Thanks for your help.
    Best Regards,
    Ekta

Each pagelet has a unique ID based on the CREF ID. Rather than change the HTML template, an alternate option is to add this information to your stylesheet. Look in PeopleTools > Utilities > PeopleTools Options for your stylesheet name. I recommend cloning this one, adding a new free form stylesheet with override information, and then updating the PeopleTools Options to use your new stylesheet.
I don't believe template pagelets have a common HTML definition. Instead, the "wrapper" HTML depends on the use location. For example, Workcenter pagelets use a different HTML definition than Intelligent Context and Related Content pagelets.

  • How can I include a JSP, Maximized, and retain look and feel(WSRP)

I have created a page group and defined a root page with a certain look and feel. There are two portlets on the page. Once the user clicks on a submit button, the portlet performs some action and includes a jsp included in the EAR file. The portlet needs to maximize the UI to display the jsp correctly.
Once control returns back to the screen, the look and feel is lost and uses Oracle's default style. I have two questions:
    1. From the portlet, how can I retain the look and feel of the page group when referencing "external" jsp (i.e JSPs in the deployed portal EAR file).
    2. How can I "redirect" the user to the home page in a standard way? If there is not a standard way, how do I use the Oracle specific utilities to do it?
All of my JSPs are developed externally out of the scope of the Oracle Portal.
Environment - Oracle Portal 10.1.4 on Release 2 using WSRP to contact Oracle Release 3, hosted EAR file (WSRP Producer).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi José,
I don't think that is possible. But you can import the css files that ep uses for its look and feel and try to give your web pages similar look and feel. The tables and other controls used in EP are totally different and are done through complex JavaScript coding instead of simple HTML tags. If you want exact lok and feel then i thin you must go for a Webdynpro based application rather then a J2EE application with JSPs.

  • Themed look and feel broken in sub-site

We have several site collections in a farm using SP2013 + SP1 under a common web application that use a custom theme for the look and feel. After upgrading to SP2013 December 2014 CU, one of the site collections' custom theme is broken. Furthermore,
the same site collection cannot use most of the OOTB themes. I have only successfully gotten the theme "Office" to work correctly. (I have not tested all the OOTB theme choices)
Immediately after the CU was applied the CSS and JS on this site collection was not working. After changing the theme to "Office" I was able to test out other troubleshooting options. If I select another theme choice, the "try it out"
page returns with an error "A cobalt error was thrown." This is not a helpful error for me and I could not find much on the internet regarding it. Another error I have received was "file not found", or yet another error "The
    URL
    '_catalogs/theme/Themed/4F147962/likefull.11x11x32-F47391E9.themedpng' is
invalid.  It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file
or folder that is not in the current Web." I have not been able to fix the issue.
I have found that under 'Site Settings' -> 'Web Designer Galleries' -> 'Themes' -> 'Themed' is a library of folders. My thought is that these folders are created dynamically when a new theme is applied. I have several folders, but all are empty
except one. I am now trying to determine why these folders are empty.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Please try to update the latest CU for SharePoint 2013(April 2015 CU for SharePoint 2013), then check whether the issue still exists or not.

Actually my syatem llok and feel was windows and i set swing application Look and feel as Metal. Now whenever i am launching any dialog on my awing application , The dialog appears in windows LAF for few nenoseconds and then changes to Metal.
Even if if check the llok and feel just before launcing the dialog i am getting Metal as result
Can any one help me out about what might be going wrong ?

I've never noticed this before. (I guiess my eyes aren't good enought to spot something for a few nanoseconds)

  • Wireframes to portal look and feel

    hi,
i am working on a webcenter portal application.
as usual, we have got wireframes (html prototypes) from customer which has html, js and css files.
now i have to produce same kind of look and feel on webcenter portal.
please suggest what shall i do?
    is this recommended way?
i copy content of css file which i got as part of wireframes into portal-skin.css file, now i use html components (div, ul, li, p etc) in page template and other jspx pages (reference could be the html files which i got in wireframes).
    please suggest.

    Hi.
    You can select two ways:
    - Continue with your HTML + CSS and create templates based directly on wireframes. Faster and easier solution for non-adf people.
    - Translate your wireframes to a ADF Templates and use ADF Skinning to achieve the styles. Slower and hard if you don't have much experience with it.
About the solution of maintain HTML + CSS:
    - Maintain your structure of CSS, images and JS in separated folders of skin folder (In Web Content or in project PortalWebAssets).
    - In Skin files (like portal-skin.css) change ADF Skinning of components only. Is the best way to maintain the hierarchy of adf skins.
    About the solution full ADF:
    - Read this document about full ADF Skin and Templates: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/portal/learnmore/pagetemplates-1438595.pdf
    More info:
    - In adf-config.xml you can provide rewrite rules to search your static-files when you are using Web Server (OHS) to server static-files.
    I hope this help you.
    Regards.

  • SSHR reskin AKA 'How to Use Adobe Flash to Transform the Look and Feel...

There was a presentation at the OHUG 2011 Conference titled 'How to Use Adobe Flash to Transform the Look and Feel of Oracle HR Self Service'. It presented a method of 're-skinning' SSHR to present a different UI to the user.
Looking for anyone out there that has attempted to apply this to their Oracle HRSS pages. I know this company has developed (is developing?) a product based on this approach. I want to see if anyone has done it on their own and would be willing to share some details.
Follow-up question. Has anyone availed themselves of the bespoke UI Development based on this approach from Applaud Solutions (as mentioned on their website), and care to comment on your experience?

Any update on this please? Even we are looking for some pointers in this area.

  • WEBUTIL_FILE.FILE_OPEN_DIALOG look and feel

    Hello all,
We just implemented webutil on our 10g environment to facilitate with the upload + download of files via our forms.
To my horror, users are complaining about the look and feel of the file manipulation dialogs. I fully recognise that this is a java based screen, but was wondering is it possible to configure the look and feel to a more Microsoft way! (euch!)
    Many Thanks,

    Hello,
You are right to say that the LAF directly depends on the underlying Java runtime. JIintiator is JRE 1.3 based, so you have the look that comes with.
    Two possible solutions would be:
1- replace the JInitiator by the Sun Java plug-in
2- write a nice Javabean to replace the file selection dialog.

  • Type of browser affecting the look and feel

    Hi all,
My webdynpro application, when viewed in portal iview from different browsers, causes great misalignment issues.  For ex the application when viewd from IE looks perfectly fine, but when I use browsers like mozilla, chrome, safari etc there are many look and feel issues.  Is there a way which the appliction would look same in all browsers or some sap note for this issue.
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Preet Kaur

    Hi Preet,
SAP Portal doesn't really support all the latest versions of browsers. I would suggest you to check the Platform Availability Matrix for browser compattibility based on your portal version.
If the issue is happening in SAP Delivered theme, and if the browser is supported by SAP - you can reach out to SAP for help.
In case of WD4A, your portal theme version should be higher than the backend version.
There are multiple notes with reference to browser compattibility which you might want to check based on your version, exact problem and type of application.
    Thanks,
    Shanti

  • Make one bitmap have same "look and feel" as another

    Hello community.
First time I am coming across this problem for a client.
He wants an old photograph (b/w, scanned) to be the "blueprint" for another one, which he just made with his digicam. The latter is of course quite different in lighting etc., but that's not what I am really worried about as I have the raw file so I can play around.
But is there a reasonably quick way to have that new digicam image have the same "look and feel" of that old, scanned image? I cannot post the image I am talking about (copyright issue), but if I had to make a new digicam image have the same "look and feel" of, say, such a picutre - what would I have to do?
Hints to simple techniques will do, because the pay for this job is close to lousy... :-(
    Thanks all.

Download a "grunge" or "old photo" pic from stock xchange and put it on top of the photo in overlay or soft light mode. You can adjust the grunge layer with levels to make it a more neutral layer for blending. Use the dodge and burn tools to draw smudges on the photo, particularly lightening or darkening the edges of the photo. You can also use the blur brush to soften the image, except for around the face.

Nick -- Thanks for the kind words.
While we don't have plans to make the look and feel available outside of the IDE,
you may want to check out some of the other look and feel resources within the
    Java community such as

There is a distinct interest in developing C# clients purely due to the
    fact
that Swing doesnt perform and doesnt look good. JDK1.4 reportedly has
numerous performance improvents. What is missing is a good look and feel.
The Jelly Beans look and feel is quite good (I suspect that it is no
accident that its flat look is similar to Visual Studion .NET.).
I think that encouraging developers to remain with Java for GUI clients
    can
only be good for Java and in turn J2EE as a whole. A pure java environment
would be much better than a deliberatly mixed environment. Java RMI is
    much
    simpler than SOAP, etc.
Aside from the ultruistic viewpoint, we would dearly like to use it in

Swing applications - perhaps we can stave off a turn to C# / .net clients.
