Unique (?) problem Kid Pix & dvd

Working in an educational setting, students make projects using Kid Pix. The file can be saved (or technically, exported) as a quick time movie.
I'd like to put these QuickTime movies into a DVD using iDVD but I am having problems.
Basically, the video doesn't encode (following status--background encoding) -- I know that it should show DONE--and it doesn't show anything...no progress at all.
So, if I go to burn, it goes through everything until the actually burning...and the message comes up that iDVD has unexpectedly quit. This has happened more than once...I've been trying for a few days.
The quicktime is saved as a .mov file
I've tried moving the files (originally on an external firewire, I've moved to the desktop.
I've tried at home, at school...I don't want to waste anymore bland DVD

To add my thoughts. Are you SURE this is Kids Pix related? It might just be a coincidence and really you are just having troubles with burning DVDs period. So my first thought is, have you tried burning another project that doesn't contain any K.P. QT imports? Also, have you tried "burning" the project to a disc image rather than directly to a DVD blank?
My standard list of things to do first for these wierd sort of problems, but I also tend to run these before I go to burn an iDVD project just to be safe. Keep in mind this list represents the programs I tend to use. There are several alternate programs that do the same things with some combining the functions of some of the ones below. So everyone has their favorites, but here are mine...
Run MacJanitor (free download) to do all the Unix Cron Maintenance scripts.
Run Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities) and repair disk permissions on your start up drive (typically your internal drive). Also verify any other drives mounted on the system, especially any external drives that you use for iMovie and iDVD projects.
Run Preferential Treatment (free download) to check for corrupt/damaged application and system preference files.
Run Cache Out X (free download) to clear all system and application caches.
Reboot your Mac (after running Cache Out X you are given the option to restart the machine).
If you still can not get it to run correctly, next thing to try is to throw out the iDVD preference file (don't forget to change back those preferences you want different from the defaults next time you run it).

It seems Quicktime no longer plays flash animations by default which it what Kidpix needs it to do.
Open System preferences and select Quicktime. Under the Advanced tap you will find a checkbox to enable Flash. This should fix your problem.
I don't know why Kid Pix support can't tell people about this simple fix.

Enabling Displays Prefs in Simple Finder account for KId Pix user.

Hi,
I have set up a managed "Simple Finder" account for my son so he can play Kid Pix - however Kid PIx want's to run at "800x600" and "Thousands of Colours"
It tries to make the switch but ends up at the wrong resolution - after allowing system prefs to run the Displays settings is still greyed out.Is there a way to enable this or is there another workaround someone knows about ??

It very likely is possible to allow a "Simple Finder" access to the "Displays" pref pane, either through "Workgroup Manager.app" or by hand editing 'mcx_settings'.
However, from the description of the problem, an easier workaround is probably to enable the "Displays" menu item. While logged in to the managed account, temporarily "switch to full Finder" from the "Finder" menu, navigate to "/System" > "Library" > "Core Services" > "Menu Extras" and double-click the "Displays.menu". Up to ten of the most recently used resolutions can be displayed in the menu, and "managed" users can change them without accessing the "Displays" pref pane itself.

Unique problem Screen is not Getting data populated from BDC_DATA itab

Hi Gurus,
I have an unique problem, I have an custom transaction (module pool) and which first runs an ALV report displays an QM Records, There is an command button at the top of the report to create new defect, where i provide the Material Number, Supplier and Defect Code, and then if i press create it should navigate to standard transaction QM01 and It should create a new defect code.
Issue:
The recording runs fine till providing Material Number, Supplier and Defect Code of ZTCODE when it navigates to QM01, the whole executions just stops, i dont know why it is moving ahead. If i try to skip and come out of standard transaction also no improvement and all manually i should come out.
Comparision with recording Made in ZTCODe and QM01.
If i record the same activity directly with QM01 and if i try to run the recording, it runs perfectly.
if i am trying to record it through Z module pool where it will navigate to standard transaction code QM01, it stops when it reaches QM01, i am getting this error. i dont know why.
I have attached the code for your reference, kindly suggest me what can be the problem.

The screen gets hanged up in the QM01 screen and where the mandatory fields are not getting populated and thats it execution is not happening at any screens if i am trying to come out of transaction.
Assumption - Correct me if iam wrong.
There can be complication while calling a Ztcode (module Pool) which in turns calls a Standard Tcode.

Check the recording i think the recording does not contain the initial screen i.e SAPLIQS0 200.
Re record the bdc or just add the initial screen in the BDC

Do you clean your iPad screen? Do not use standard window cleaners, with ammonia or alcohol, like Windex, but a damp towel, followed by a micro-fibre cloth is recommended. There are also cleaners you can buy which are specifically designed for iPad/iPhone devices, such as iClean from Monster.

Problem with leopard DVD loading in PowerPC G4

Hi having problems installing Leopard DVD on Mac G4 desk top - 1GHz PowerPC G4 (3,6), 1MB L3 Cache, 768 MB Ram.
A few of the details:
1) I have installed Leopard on my Laptop and it is running fine and it is a family pack edition DVD.
2) I wiped the G4 I am trying to install clean and re-loaded the original system software, then loaded to Tiger to see if that was the issue...When I put in the Leopard DVD it doesn't even show as being in the computer. It doesn't come up on the desk top...it doesn't show in the HD...it doesn't make a sound at all when put in the DVD slot...basically, the computer is not recognizing the DVD. I have tried other cd's and DVD's in the drive....everything is working except the Leopard DVD.
Any ideas?

Hi Chandan ,
Database fetch is case sensitive ,So u need to give exact format in where condition.
Make your parameter and database in same case so that you need not worry about case sensitivity .
Check the lowecase check box in the domain .
Then declare your parameter
PARAMETERS:
P_Mita
TYPE   ZLT_Mita-M1 LOWER CASE .
You can do the vice versa also by unchecking lowercase and giving Upper case instead of lower in parameter declartion .

Problems Moving Ripped DVD from Itunes to Ipod
I am having a problem transfering ripped DVD's from the Itunes Video folder to the actual Ipod. I thought one of the cool points of the Video Ipod was that you could play DVD's on it. I know I needed to use special software to achieve this since I researched it here. I am using Handbrake Lite since regular Handbrake look too daunting for me. I also used Isquint, since it was recommened here. I used both without changing anything on both of those progams other than click the go button. The DVD's will play in Itunes but it won't allow me to drag them to the Ipod. They are in the Video folder in Itunes. What in the wild, wild world of sports am I do'in wrong? I assume it's something stupid because the device is stellar. Hope someone out there can lend us a hand.

I am having a similar problem, and i cant contact ipod 2 ask 4 help - its not explainedo online:
my ipod will only upload video podcasts, no ordinary videos, except for one. they are all the same format (.MOV quicktime), and my i tunes has them all on it and plays them fine there, its just when i drag and drop or insert my videos onto my ipod any other way theydont get uploaded onto my ipod like everything else does, there seems no way that i can get my own videos onto it. only one video that isnt a podcast has ever uploaded, and its the same format as the others!
Any ideas or help would be apprichiated ( i cant spell:P)

Big problems exporting to DVD

I have a 55 min sequence that I'm trying to export using the DVD settings in compressor. I have tried all the options but keep getting the same problem. Either DVD studio pro tells me the format is incompatible or the movie file is incomplete. I have tried all the options in compressor but keep having problems and I really need to get this project completed.
The sequence is pretty normal, the same as I have done before without any problems so not sure where I am going wrong. Is there a work around? Perhaps exporting as a QT movie then re-compressing for DVD.
Any help would be grateful, I've posted on Compressor forum and it was suggested to double check settings.

Thanks again for replying. I've been using the DVD preset settings of best quality 90min. (Mpeg 2 6.2mbps 2-pass, Dolby digital professional 2.00) Although I have tried the fastest encode preset resulting in the same problem.
Incidentally, I have used magic bullet filters for the first time on the sequence, would that contribute to the problem?
Also, if I go down the exporting to Quicktime route and then re-import, do I then use the same DVD preset settings and will there be a drop in quality?

Keyboard and characters unique problem IN all programs

Hello, thank you reading I have a unique problem with my computer. I have searched a great deal to locate information on my issue with no luck. It is very hard to describe the problem and I figured asking here might be the best idea. I have all the latest update software. I have not installed any new ]programs and this problem just started out of nowhere with In the last week. No wireless keyboard.
First the computer writes capital letters on its own while I type. The letters seem to be only the n, I and s. This goes for every application or text box on the web that I can type In.
Second the left arrow key when pressed types this ]]]]]]]]
Third the right shift key when pressed works, but makes an error beep each time
Fourth the enter key randomly doubles spaces rather than single space when pressed in programs like mail and word.
Fifth the left shiFt key types IIII when pressed
I have done the usual rebooting, repairing of the disk and permissions, emptying cache, restored defaults IN keyboard setting, sticky keys off with no luck. Once again no new programs have been installed. Issue started about the same day I registered for and started using facebook one week ago if that means anything?

I use the Plextor PX-712SA's with no issues. However...I do not believe the SATA versions require jumpers. Try plugging them in on SATA port 1 or 2, making sure those are enabled in BIOS of course. Make sure all connections are secure. There have been some issues with these particular drives not operating properly, but it has not been an issue with seasoned system builders, so the problems may be with the builder himself. Usually, Plextors are so good, they'll almost burn a paper plate! Try a different medium, maybe another brand of blank CD or DVD.
You may also want to check Device Manager in Windows, to see if it is listed "This device is working properly"!

BTW I tried using doferent setings in compressor from CBR and VBR I even pushed up the setings to 8 or 9 BR and still no luck !

Let's focus attention on just the Sony. (What model and what resolution are you shooting?)
For now, I'll assume you're shooting 1080i.
Take a representaive clip into a new sequence. Add a title.
In your sequence, make sure field dominance is set to Upper.
Set render settings to Pro Res 422.
After rendering, export QT self contained.
Import into Compressor (I'm now referring to v3.5).
Select the 90 minute Best quality DVD preset.
Open frame controls and turn on (click the gear icon). Set Resize filter to Best.
Submit burn and check quality on TV.

Audio problems from burning DVD's from Macbook Pro?

Hey guys,
So lately I have been having problems with burning DVD. I use either iDVD or Roxio Toast Titanium 11 too burn movies to play on my television. After burnign them I notice all of them have audio problems. It's as if the audio is faint for the dialogue but when background music plays its blaring! I checked my TV and its definitely not my Television because sound plays from both speakers. I was wondering if any other Macbook users had this problem or users of either of these programs had this problem because it's such a hassle burning movies without really enjoying them.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Problem with copied DVDs--"DAMAGED TS FOLDER" (HELP or I shall go MAD!)

Hi folks--really, really hope someone can help me. This has got me beat. And I'm by no means sure it's a problem with my computer, but...
The facts:
1. I recently acquired a Panasonic DMR-ES20 DVD recorder, primarily to make DVD copies of a number of old and treasured videotapes. These are from broadcast, so copy protection isn't a factor.
2. I often use my Mac as a TV to watch DVDs and have never had the slightest problem with commercial DVDs.
3. I am (or was) using Roxio's Popcorn 2 program to make up backup copies of the DVDs I make.
4. I made about 20 DVDs without problem, and ALL work perfectly on the Imac, and ALL can be copied via Popcorn 2.
5. Then, SOMETHING CHANGED, I have no idea what--but now, each and every DVD I make with the Panasonic shows up on the Imac as follows:
"The TS folder appears to be damaged."
These disks will NOT play on the Imac and cannot be copied with Popcorn 2. They DO play on the Panasonic machine, however.
6. I have tried varying media, including high-quality Taiyo Yuden disks. That didn't help.
7. I have reset the recorder to original factory settings. That didn't help.
8. I have used a disk lens cleaner on the Imac. That didn't help.
9. I have spoken with Applecare and (God help me) Panasonic. Both pronounced themselves baffled.
10. As am I. As things stand, I've got a lot of more or less useless equipment. Ideas? Hints? Suggestions?

The only time I have ever expierianced an issue like this is from doing extensive burning. The cause is from the storage of the cache files and some of the older TS folders even after you trashed them from your machine after you burned.
The only way I have been able to work around this is
First Repair Permissions as is submitted by Gulliver.

I have also found that by running 3 freeware or shareware programs one right after the other and after the 3rd it will restart your computer all is well when I do it.
First run Macjanitor.

Problems with burned DVD in iDVD - Works in some players, not in others

Hi, I'm having a strange problem with a DVD I burned in iDVD.
I have a disc image that I made in iDVD and then burn the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders to a DVD.
I burned to a Memorex DVD+R.
The video pops up fine and plays on my computer after it burns, but if I eject the disc and try to re-insert it, the DVD preview says "Supported disc not found". It did this same thing when I tried it in my Macbook.
It works fine in my standard DVD player, but I also tried it on my Playstation 3 and it did not play.
A few things I am going to try is buring directly from iDVD instead of first making a disc image, and also using DVD-R, although I heard that DVD+R is generally a better format to use.
Someone also told me that DVD+R does not play on macs, which I question.
If anyone has any other suggestions or might know why this is happening, I would greatly appreciate it. It is an important project that needs to be done soon! Thanks.

The disc image option is within iDVD: File > Save as Disc Image. If you switch to DVD map map mode you can drag your movie to a spot prior to the menu so that the movie plays automatically when put into the player. Under advanced, you can set the movie to loop.... otherwise I think it goes back to the menu when done playing. BTW, all DVDs MUST have a menu it is part of the DVD specification. It is just a matter of whether you see the menu. As far as exporting your project back to tape... you won't loose any quality and your audio, along with your video and any editing to each will export back to tape. However, a MP3 is not generally considered a higher quality file (although perhaps the recorder was closer to the source?). As a matter of fact, if you are editing your audio I strongly suggest using a file sampled at at least 16-bit/48Khz, AIFF (or WAV or anything lossless).
In regards to the slow burn speed: I agree that a slower burn speed is better than the fastest burn speed (due to error corrections ect). However, I would choose a middle of the road burn speed. If my choices are 4x, 6x, or 8x, I would choose 6x. If it is 2x, 4x, 6x, I would choose 4x. And yes, quality of blank media can effect the playback of a disc that played once just fine.
