(Unique) Provider Data Problem

When attempting to sync my iPod touch to my computer, I am presented with "iTunes was unable to load Provider Data from Sync Services. Please try again later." I have looked up this problem extensively, and have come across something that greatly concerns me.
The problem is this. Most help threads say that the process SyncServer must be killed. The problem is, I don't have a SyncServer process running. Everyone else seems to have theirs running beforehand, so I have no one to relate to with this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Help needed with missing data problem in CRVS2010

We recently upgraded the reporting engine in our product to use Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (previously engine was CR9). Our quote report, which has numerous subreports and lots of conditional formatting, started losing data when a quote took more than a single page to be printed. We knew the SQL results included the data, but the report was not printing those lines at all or sometimes printing a partial line. In addition, the running total on the report would exclude the lines that were being missed on the next page. In one example submitted by a customer, 3 lines were skipped between pages.
I think I have identified two potential issues that document the possibility of data not being included in the report.
The first potential issue is an issue with the "suppress blank section" option being checked. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01483793, being released someday with service pack 2 for CRVS2010.
The second potential issue is using shared variables. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01484308, also targeted for SP2.
Our quote report does not explicitly use shared variables with any of the subreports, but it does have several subreports, each in its own section that has the "supress blank section" option checked. We have other reports that use this feature, as well, and they are not exhibiting the problem.
One different thing about the quote report is that it has a section with multiple suppression options selected. The section has a conditional suppression formula, which controls whether the section is included at all within the report. The section also has the suppress blank section option selected. There are multiple fields within the report that are each conditionally suppressed. In theory, the section's suppress formula could evaluate to true, yet all of the fields within the section are suppressed (due to null values), and then the "suppress blank section" option would kick in.
The missing data only seems to happen when the section is not being suppressed, and at least one of the fields is being included in the report. If I clear the "suppress blank section" check box, and change the section formula to also include the rules applied to the fields in the section, the missing data problem seems to be resolved.
Is this related to ADAPT01483793? Will it be fixed in service pack 2?
If more details are needed, I would be happy to provide a sample report with stored data.

Have a look at the Record Selection formula in CR Designer ( stand alone ) and when exported to RPT format opening that report in the Designer also.
There's been a few issues with => logic in the record selection formula. It could be you are running into this problem. Look for NOT inserted into your selection formula.
Oh and SP2 is coming out shortly so it may resolve the issue. But if you want you could purchase a support, or if you have a support contract then create a case in SMP and get a rep to work with you to debug the issue.
If you have not try the Trial Version of CR 2011, put it on a VM-ware image or Test PC so you don't corrupt anything for production and have a look at and test it in that designer also. If you purchase a case and it is a bug then you'll get a credit back for the case.

Do Not Check Uniqueness of Data in Write Optimised DSO

Hello,
I am working with write optimised DSO with already billion records in it. I have flag 'Do Not Check Uniqueness of Data' in Settings as checked(means it will surely not check for uniqueness of data). I am thinking of removing this flag off and activate the DSO again. I am willing to remove this flag as it will provide option of Req ID input in listcube on DSO and without this list cube will never return back with results.(I have to analyze aggregations)
I tried removing this flag and then activate DSO in production system with 17 million records which took 5 mins for activation (index creation). So maths says for a billion records activation transport will take around 6 hrs for moving to Production.
I am willing to remove this flag as it will provide option of Req ID input in listcube and without this list cube will never return back with results.
Questions:
How does this flag checks the uniqueness of record? WIll it check Active table or from the Index?
To what extent DTP will slow down the process of subsequent data load?
Any other factors/risks/precautions to be taken?
Let me know if questions are not clea or further inputs are required from my side.

Hello,
My itunes says : "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services", when i connect my iphones.
My iphones sync fine on my other computer.
This problem occurred when formatting my pc from work.
And this problem prevents me only sync tab "info" (contacts, calendar and Outlook). This does not prevent me to synchronize other tabs.
I already tried to reinstall itunes, and the diagnostic option.

This problem has been ongoing since 9.2 came out ... i.e. quite some time.
I uninstalled and then removed all traces off Apple applications, then reinstalled back to the prior version and ran with no problems.
When I upgraded to V4 iPhone software I had to upgrade again and ran into the same problem.
Upgrading from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003 was of no benefit.
I have purchased Sync2, set up a gmail account and sync over wireless from Outlook to gamil, then from gamil to iPhone.
This only does calendar and contacts (haven't found a solution for notes) but waiting for Apple to sort this will probably see you old and gray.

Hi everyone
This issue has got me stumped.
I have a Dell Vostro desktop computer with Windows 7 SP1 64 bit edition.
I used to be able to sync now I cannot bakup or sync.
The device is an iphone 4s with the latest software IOS 5.1.
Itunes is version 10.6.0.40, the latest.
To try to fix this problem I removed itunes/quick time completely. Removed Bonjour, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update,
Deleted the itunes and quick time folders, the common file folders and files, deleted anything related to able under appdata local and roaming, removed apple folder under program data, scanned through registry and removed all apple entries.
Then I rebooted the computer, re-installed itunes/quicktime and have the same error appear again.
I have gone through this process at least 5 times , but still keep getting the same error, cannot go past it.
I found a solution on this forum but it only applies to MACOS, could not find anything suitable for windows 7 environment.
Also searche the web high and low and tried several different advice from people.
This has to be a bug with Itunes! I would like to hear from Apple developers and programmers why I have to suffer so much to sync my device.
As a last resort I am planning to rebuild windows 7 from scratch but is is a big job.
Tried also to disable firewall, antivirus, check the apple windows services are running, nothing works to get me past this error.
Please help someone!

Failed to fetch data provider data. (LO 26306)

Hi,
We have created a webi report, which is having a date prompts.
The same webi report, we have used in xelsius using a live office connection.
In Xelsius, We have checked the box 'refresh on load', under usage tab.
When we run the xelsius dashboard, we are getting an "Failed to fetch data provider data. (LO 26306)".
Can anyone please help. why this error is getting. Is it because of prompts which are there in webi report.
Basically, our requirement is when the user runs the dashboard, prompts should be displayed. User will enter the prompts and based on that, dash board should get display.

i just had this message for the fist time when trying to sync my iphone 4: "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later"
what i did is that:
- i unplugged my iphone 4
- clicked on "edit" in itunes, "Preferences", "devices", "reset synck history"
- Uninstalled itunes
- restarted the lap top
- reinstalled itunes
then i tired and the iphone synced fine. i tried it a few times and it was fine.
but i have 2 questions:
1- could this be cause by excessive syncing, since i do sync my phone almost twice a week.
2- is what i did good enough for a solution or do i need to rename folders and resort to the other solutions provided?

Here's what I did:
1. Copy all of the contents in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support folder, overwriting anything it if asked.
2. Rright-click on the Computer icon on your desktop (or in the start menu) and select Properties. Click on Advanced System Settings. Then clik on Environment Variables. If you don't have a user variable called PATH, click New... and add it, or select it and click Edit...
Now, add to the beginning of the user PATH the following two directories:
c:\program files\commmon files\apple\Apple Application Support
c:\program files\commmon files\apple\Mobile Device Support
Be sure to put a semi-colon (;) between the two directories.
Click OK three times to save your settings.
Step #2 might require a reboot.
After these 2 steps sync works again (touch wood).
Seems that sometimes there's an additional possibility (which I didn't perform):
If you are still having problems after following these steps, it's possible another application uses one of the same DLLs as iTunes (but a different version) and Windows is finding it in the PATH before the Apple file paths added above. You can check this by opening a DOS command prompt window and executing the following commands:
where libxml2.dll
where sqlite3.dll
where libtidy.dll
Examine the pathnames listed by these commands. If any paths are listed before the ...\Common Files\Apple\... paths, you'll want to remove those paths from the PATH environment variable.

I had nearly the same problem. I am also a user of UltraEdit from IDM Computer Solutions. Are you? My problem was fixed by adjusting to remove a conflict between the two. (both use same-named DLL but different versions.) If this sounds like your issue, post here and I'll reply with more detail.

Flash Drive & Creation Date problems

I have had several flash drives (different models and brands), all formatted for MS-DOS, since I need to use them on both Mac & PC... when they are formatted this way my notebook (12 inch Powerbook G4 1.33GHZ, 10.3.9) reads it as having a creation date of Dec. 31 1903, no matter what the actual creation date was. It does this with files that are dragged in from the notebook, from the PC, and from those that are created on the Flash drive. The PC reads the created dates just fine. But once they hit the mac reader, everything gets messed up and only the modified date remains with the file as it gets moved around. The Apple folks say this is a problem if the flash is not formatted specifically for Mac... Does anyone know a way around this so I can use it with both PC and Mac??? Thanks!! Fifi

Use and Ipod. I had so much trouble because whenever I transferred files to a usb drive (stick) it changed the dates to the date they were transferred, not the last day worked one, so I would work on older files without knowing it. Real problem. I tried several sticks and called the companies. It is a MAC problem--the resolution, use your ipod to transfer files and it all works out fine. 10.3.9 seems to be unique to this problem--10.4 seems to have fixed the problem. So, until I change OS, I use my ipod and it works fine.

Primary key, unique key impdp problem

Hi, during my impdp I came across problems with constraints being violated. So I disabled all constraints in a proper order. It didn't help. There are still the same errors. I checked some individual constraints that were problematic and it turned out that they were all disabled as I expected. I don't understand why datapump still shows these errors despite constraints are DISABLED.

But if the unique index exists on the target table it does not matter if the PK is disabled or not. You would need to drop the index; however, this shows you have a data problem.
Why do you have duplicate keys? If you import duplicates then rebuilding the unique index would result in an error.
Do you need to truncate or drop some of the target tables before importing?
These are points I raised in my first response and which you have not addressed in your answer.

User-Provided Data: Scrubbing & Displaying Thereof

I'm in the middle of completely rebuilding an old application from the ground up and wanted to get some feedback on user-provided data and security, see what new methods people are using, and get some general feedback. With past applications I've always made use of CFQUERYPARAM on my database transactions, verified the proper length of all data provided by the user, and ran each form field through a custom tag that, rather harshly, checked for characters commonly used within SQL injection strings and cross-site scripting attacks. This time around I'd like to maintain, if not increase the security of my application when it comes to user-provided data, but at the same time not hinder or upset users by blocking just so many "suspect" characters.
Of course about half of the user data I get can be scrubbed easily enough: E-Mail addresses, passwords, telephone numbers.
Where I've run into problems in the past is the more free-form fields such as names, addresses, search criteria, and "comments" boxes, all which could easily have characters such as ', /, %, --, and the like. In the past I've judged these and many other characters harshly but I wonder if I've been too harsh?
So, I'm curious to hear some opinions on the much-discussed topic of SQL injection and XSS and how it relates to user-provided data.
What characters are you checking for in user data? How do you go about handling them? Escape them? Remove them? Generate an error to the user?
Some things I've heard in the past that I'm curious if people do:
01) htmleditformat() every piece of user data as it is outputted as text within a page.
02) htmleditformat() every piece of user data as it is inserted into the database. An issue with this is that as htmleditformat() translates characters into lengthy ASCII strings and often extends user input beyond the MAXLENGTH of the given form/database field, and the customer won't understand why.

Some reccomendations:
1. Continue use of CFQUERYPARAM and data length/type verification. This should keep you safe from SQL injection.
2. Use HtmlEditFormat for output only. Using HtmlEditFormat for input will cause a problem if the text is ever consumed by an application that doesn't understand HTML entities.
3. Use a whitelist/blacklist specific to the data you are collecting. For example, I think you can safely assume that a first name won't contain angle brackets.
4. Take a look at the Portcullis project. From RIA Forge: "Portcullis is a CFC based url,form,cookie filter to help protect against SQL Injection and XSS (Cross Site Scripting) attacks."

5. Tell the user when you're going to replace/escape their input with something else. This will keep your site user friendly.
