Unique XML attatchment file name

Is there any way when an email submit button is pressed, the XML file name generated is unique every time.
The file name doesnt even need to relate to the data within the XML form, I could just be a set of random alpha numerics perhaps. I will be having almost 100 of these XML files ariving by email each day all to be put in the same folder/place on a windows PC so I need each one to have a unique name as maunaly renaming them will be very frustrating to do.
Any help appreciated.

"You would think the program writers would have given an option to name the file after one of the field values that will be unique."
No kidding. I should have spent more time playing with the trial before I recommended purchase. Was hoping to have the attached file reflect a data field.
Like, in the form - Name: John
File attached to the e-mail 'John.xml'.
Seemed to me that there would be a way to script it. But it looks like not.
It looks like my solutions are to
A.) use Thunderbird with an attachment tool extension that will automatically re-name the files if they will overwrite when I go to save (sucks because Outlook is my required SW)
B.) do it in Outlook but rename and save the files individually. or
C.) ask my respondents to choose the "other" option when prompted to e-mail the data and then name the file according to my conventions.
I'm thinking 'A' is going to have to do.
But would like to see this feature added with an update.

  • "XML write" file name

    I have some weird issue with XML exporting. One day ago I have created a new metadata field and have added it to my custom made metada group. And now, then the XML file is beeing exported, to name that XML file FCServer uses the newly created metadata field value. Some time ago it was using the "Title" value to name the XML files even if I was adding new metadata fields. It is important for me to keep XML filenames exactly the same as the title value. Is it fixible or maybe I can force Final Cut Server to use the title value for naming XML files?

    Thank you for suggestion I have examined the metadata mapping, but there were no problems with it. So I have just tried to remove the metadata fields I have created and recreate them again. And it helped. So it was something wrong with the system then I was creating these metadata fields for the first time, I guess.

  • Adding a unique identifier in file name

    Dear all,
    In one of the scenario(n IDOCs to 1File),
    IDOCs keep coming from SAP and at XI we are appending it in one file.
    XI transmits this file on particular time of a day(say everyday at 6 PM) to the receiver system. It implies that it is a per day interface.
    XI creates the file with the this convention: <DocName>>_<Date>.txt
    Now a new requirement has come up to add a unique identifier to this filename for every transmission, Say for ex:
    <UniqueIdentifier>_<DocName>_<Date>.txt
    The receiver system wants this, UniqueIdentifier to be in sequence, say
    0001_OrderData_20090224.txt
    0002_OrderData_20090224.txt
    Is it possible to achieve this in XI, Do we have any standard feature. or is there any workaround.
    Kindly drop in your comments.
    Thanks in advance,
    Younus

    Mohammed.
    Your interface won't work like this. If this is the situation you want to archieve then you should use the IDOC.txt as a secondary input as well.
    if you do an append on the file there is no way you can duplicate that.
    else i'd suggest you create a CMD function which does a copy and append number to that. There is a function within SAP Xi to execute a CMD line function when done.
    In this batch (or.sh) file you can copy the last file and append a number to that. Alllthough i'm not sure how dynamically that is.

  • File Sender adapter - source file name - weird

    Hi all,
    We have a sender file adapter polling an ftp location. The Dynamic config has been enabled to get the source file name.
    The actual file name is - "hrmd.xml", but in the dynamic configuration node, in sxmb_moni, the fileName is shown as ./hrmd.xml.
    This does not occur with any other file sender adapter comm channels polling ftp locations.
    I guess this has something to do with the ftp server. Did anyone face this issue?

    the fileName is shown as ./hrmd.xml
    The file name surely cant have a / in it....such characters are not allowed.
    is there any way we can change the fileName message attribute once the file is picked up
    Create a UDF for Dynamic Configuration and change the name as per your requirement (in XI)....the source file may be having proper format for name and i assume that you have to change it for receiver file name

  • Pick a particular file and keep on target side with the same file name

    Target Side, How do I keep with the same file name?
    abc_12345_20100408111239.xml ---  same file name with diffrent timestamp.

    Hi,
    One more question: How to setup a file adapter to trigger between 2:00am to 5:00 am? in a particular time
    For this you can Availability time planning (i.e you can schedule the file adapter to poll for the files with in the time interval i.e 2 -5)...
    for generating the file name at target side you need to look for the Dynamic Configuration as you need to change the timestamp for the file..and i am not sure how this works in BPM..
    in normal scenarios dynamic configuration will help....

  • Ipad only uses one file name when uploading images via email

    We have an image tool that uploads images to a template website. The problem is the file names for these images must be unique any duplicate file names will be rejected. Some of our users want to be able to upload from the field but Ipad only assigns the file name "photo.JPG" to jpegs. It doesn't seem to include the sequential extension that actually does exist for the image on the file name when uploading. Is there a way to get ipad to do so, or is this something that Apple maybe want to consider looking into. I can easily see the average Joe emailing themselves images and hitting save only to replace and lose an older image because let's face it, not all users are on MACs and PC's do not allow multiple files to have the same file name in the same folder.

    Hi,
    Based on the description, you could send email to external addresses without the Twin Oaks software. However, with the Twin Oaks software, you couldn't send successfully.
    For this issue, I recommend you enable message tracking and check whether you could retrieve message tracking log entires when you send emails to external addresses through the Twin Oaks software.
    If you couldn't retrieve message these tracking log entires when you send emails to external addresses through the Twin Oaks software, it means that the Exchange server is OK and the crux of the problem is the Twin Oaks software.
    Here is an article about message tracking log for your reference.

  • Unique file name  - 6dk1632m3a06f9lh.xml

    If I
    Submit by Email from within Designer 8 - from the Preview Tab - the programme generates a unique file name, i.e. 6dk1632m3a06f9lh.xml(or XDP) yet when I
    Submit by Email directly from Reader it gives the xml file name the same name as the host PDF i.e. ThePDFFormName.xml. Now I would like to use the former because when I receive back the XML files, I'd prefer to save them locally and not have to rename or save them into a differing locations. Then at the end of the day I can batch them ready for a spreadsheet.

    To add to John's Question:
    Is there any way to programmatically set the file name to assume the name of one of the fields in the form?
    (I have worked out how to put a field name into the Subject line and body copy of the email)

  • Insane XML Import, Huge Project, Duplicate file names work around...

    I planned on kicking off my journey attempting to edit a massive multi year documentary on FCPX with a nice introduction of the blog I'm going to keep about the experience, but I've run into a bit of a roadblock, or maybe major speed bump at least before even getting to that point. I wanted to share what is working as a work around for me and you guys can tell me how I'm doing it wrong.
    Ok, I will try to explain this as succinctly as possible. I'll write in somewhat stream of consciousness just to try and get through it quicker... Basically, after discovering the work around below, I am now utterly confused on how FCPX handles the relationship between its own database of where media is stored, and the actual media itself. I have plenty experience on FCPX now, probably done 30-40 pro commercial jobs on it over the last year since XML became doable as I'm also a Resolve Colorist and all the FCPX projects where hardcore coloring product spots. For commercial work, I never needed to worry about splitting up footage up over multiple Events. Everything, all in one, FCPX handled it no problem. (well the occasional beach ball, but that seems to be a thing with FCPX in general)
    This will be my 10th feature documentary as an Editor. Every one before it was either on Avid's many flavors over the last 12 years or FCP Studio. When this new film came along, I made the decision a few months ago to use FCPX for a few reasons, but mostly because I'm insane and I like to try to mix it up for myself in a career that can get stale quick if you aren't willing to be that way. The film was shot over 2+ years, every shoot was multi cam 5D (yes i know, looks great, but please kill me), I haven't done the math on length, but there is over 10,000 clips of video (this is actually medium in size compared to what I've dealt with before). Its 5D, so theres external audio for everything. FCPX's syncing is great, but I've learned that theres an unsaid window of heads and tales clips must fall within to sync properly with the nearby clips, if they are too far apart FCPX gives up. One shoot day could have 3 cams, 50 clips each, and 2 audio files to sync to, FCPX simply cannot handle this, so off to Plural eyes they went, no problems.
    Ok, all this is relevant eventually I swear! Again, in the past, all in one event, no problem. I tried for fun to bring all media into one Event on this film. It worked, but there is a 10+ second spinning beach ball for every single move you make, so thats no good. Ok, I'll separate the Events out to, lets say, each shoot month. Well that's dumb, in verite documentary, any shot could be the first, any shot could be the last, you need a command over all searchable footage at all times. Shift selecting all events to search *****, and it actually takes longer for FCP to reload each event each time than it does to just have the one massive one. So no go there. Next hair brained idea... What if make a new Event that is just Compound Clips of all the other Event's contents and do more with Markers and Favorites in logging that I was planning to parse it all out. That way I'm working with and FCPX is dealing with 50-60 clips instead of 10,000+ Quick test, Cmd-A, Opt-G, boom, boom, boom, move all to dedicated to Event, hide huge Event, BEHOLD, that works! FCPX chokes a little bit on the insane length of some of the clips, but searching, and general performance is back on par!
    So your saying to yourself "Ok *********, sounds like you figured it out, what's the problem." Well to you I say, "Not so fast!" Remember, that was just a quick test using the media I had imported into the massive 10,000+ clip Event. To do this project proper, I am having to import Multicam sync'd XMLs from Plural Eyes. And this is where it all starts to fall apart. A little foreshadowing for your eager eyes. 10,000+ files all shot with multiple 5D's over the course of years. What does that mean? many, many duplicate file names!
    FCPX as well all know irritatingly imports XML's as new Events, not into existing ones. This obviously takes a lot of burden off media management because with a new Event comes a new database referencing its own version of the raw media. All well and good, and I'm betting its starting to click for some if you advanced users where I'm finally going with this. So I have 50 or so XMLs to bring in, all done no problem. Now I want to replicate that singular Event like I did with the Compound Clip test and have it all in one place to be my master as extensive logging begins for easy searching once editing begins. Highlight the Events, click Merge Events. NOPE. I get a new "Kill Yourself Now" error (a term I coined for Out of Memory and General Error messages in FCP Legacy meaning there ain't much you can do about it): "Two or more files have the same name. Change the names and try again, because I don't know what the **** to do with them." Ok I made up that last part but that's basically what it's saying. Just take the variable out of the equation, this happens with every which way you could try to get the clips together. Merge Events, dragging events on top of each other, dragging just the Multicam clip alone, nothing gets passed that message. What's worse is that while Batch Renaming seems like a solution, the renames do not populate inside the created clips and there is no way to Batch Rename those. Renaming everything at the finder level isn't so great because then I'd have to resync and theres an offline/online thing going here where the film has to be reconformed eventually.
    Basically, I've found that FCPX handles media management in completely different ways depending on whether you are importing into one Event yourself or doing essentially what is a new import with FCPX moving or merging Events. If you bring in all the media to one Event, on a macro level FCPX goes through file by file making aliases referencing the master file. If it hits a duplicate, it makes a parenthesis counter, and keeps going. And with the genius of FCPX metadata, that file name doesn't even matter, you can change it at the Finder level and FCPX will keep the link intact. BUT for some reason if you try to do this outside the realm of a single Event and combine files after the fact a different process takes over in creating this database system and can't handle the duplicates. I can't totally figure the reason other than it probably is scared to change the originally referenced alias to something else (which it shouldn't be scared of since Merge Events deletes the original anyway).
    This is where it gets INSANE and where I lose all understanding of what is going on, and believe me it was a delicate understanding to begin with. It comes in to play with the work around I figured out. I make the master Event with the 10,000+ clips. Then I import all the XMLs as dedicated Events. Now, I then drag the Multicam clips into the master Event, it WORKS! just takes it, no "Kill Yourself Now" error. Stranger still, now with the switched referenced Event, it even takes into account which aliased duplicate file name it's referencing in the Original Media folder. Somehow, it's taking into account the original file path and saying "Ok, I see 5 instances of MVI_5834.mov. Based on the original file path or maybe creation date or god knows what, it must be MVI_5834 (fcp3).mov." It connects perfectly. I can even remove the old XML imported Event with no problem. Crazier yet, I can now move those again to the dedicated Event I wanted originally that only contains those Multicam or Compound Clips.
    So instead of going straight from A to C, going from A to B to C works even though that actually seems way more complicated. Why can't FCPX handle Merge Events and dragging clips the same way it handles media imported into a single Event. And weirder still, why can't FCPX handle the (fcp1,2,3...) appending in the same scenario. But if the appended links are already there, No Problem. And for the love of god, it'd be nice to important XML's into existing Events and make the correct referencing happen right from the get go, which is really the source of all the above headache. I'd have no problem helping FCPX with a little manual pointing in the right direction just like any other NLE needs.
    Ok, having said all of that crap above, my question is, have I missed something completely simple I should have done instead? Now that I have everything in place how I originally envisioned, I think I will still play around a little bit more to make sure FCPX is really going to be able to handle this project. I'm at a stage right now where going another direction is still an option, although the dare devil in me wants to make this work. Media management aside, once you start editing on a FCPX timeline, its hard to go back to anything else. Apple is going to have to figure out some way not to access to everything at all times to work fluidly or big projects like this are never going to be practical in FCPX.
    Sorry for the long confusing post....

    I'm having the exact same problem, but I know nothing of ruby scripts. I've exhausted my resources with tech support, and after literally hours of work with them it seems I now am faced with either re-rating each individual song, or pointing iTunes to each song that it can't locate. Is yours a solution that could help me? How can I find out more about Ruby Scripts? Thanks for your help, hellolylo (or anyone else who might also be able to help...)

  • Using sqlldr to load XML files and the file name ?  or access the file name

    I can use sqlldr to load the XML files when I declare the target table of XMLTYPE, but I need to load the filename and a sequence also with the XML in a table so we can mark wether the file passed validation or not.
    something like ....
    Create table test1
    lobfn varchar(200),
    load_number number,
    XML_COL XMLTYPE
    --------------- here is my sqlldr command
    sqlldr xml_user/xml_user load_test1.ctl
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE *
    INTO TABLE test1
    append
    xmltype(XML_COL)
    lobfn FILLER char TERMINATED by ',',
    XML_COL LOBFILE(lobfn) TERMINATED BY EOF
    BEGINDATA
    filename1.xml
    filename2.xml
    filename64.xml
    sqlldr comes back and says "commit point reached - logical record count 64
    but when I select count(*) from test1; it returns 0 rows.
    and when I
    SELECT X.* FROM tst1 P2,
    XMLTable ( '//XMLRoot//APPLICATION'
    PASSING P2.XML_COL
    COLUMNS
    "LASTNAME" CHAR(31) PATH 'LASTNAME',
    "FIRSTNAME" CHAR(31) PATH 'FIRSTNAME'
    ) AS X;
    It tells me invalid identifier ,
    Do I need to use a function to get the XML_COL as a object_value ???
    But when I create the table like
    create table test1 of XMLTYPE;
    and use sqlldr it works, but I dont have the file name, or dont know how to access it ??
    and I can use
    SELECT X.* FROM tst1 P2,

    PASSING P2.object_value

  • How can I get rid of "_data" behind xml file name

    Hello everybody,
    I use xfa.host.exportData("",0) to export xml file which I cann't appoint the name of xml. After I click the exporting button, a window jumps and fill the xml file name automatically, the name is "PDF file name_data.xml", in Adobe Reader Chinese version, "_data" will be translated by Chinese word, so it is not convenience to unify the method of getting xml.
    My problem is if I can get rid of the postfix "_data" in xml file name? I doulbt maybe I can set in LiveCycle Designer, but I can't find out at present.
    Thanks in advance!
    Enlly

    Hello radzmar
    Thank you for you soon reply!
    I learned about the function exportData(), and my form is not certified, so I use exportData("",0) to export xml file. After I click the export button, it will jump out a window to ask for selecting the path, where users want to save the xml file, and, in this window, LiveCycle will fill xml file name automatically by "xxxx_data" (xxxx is the pdf form name). I just wonder if I can avoid "_data" ?
    Do you have any idea? Thanks!

  • Xml file in dynamic file name in file receiver adapter

    Hi,
    I'm doing the dynamic file name in file receiver adapter. I have done as per instructed in /people/jayakrishnan.nair/blog/2005/06/20/dynamic-file-name-using-xi-30-sp12-part--i
    All turned out okay. I have got the file name I require. Except that the file format is XML and I need to suppress the filename node occupied by the dynamic file name.
    The content conversion mentioned in /people/sravya.talanki2/blog/2005/08/11/solution-to-the-problem-encountered-using-variable-substitution-with-xi-sp12, does not seem to solve my problem. As it is only for file format other than the XML one, because we only do the content conversion if we want to "convert" the format of the content from XML to the other format.
    Does anybody have the solution to my problem? thanks in advance

    Thank you Raj for the direction
    The way to do it is :
    1. In ID, advanced tab, put a check on the adapter-specific message attributes - file name.
    2. Put a "*" on the file name scheme
    3. In IR, create a UDF to set up target file name :
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
    .getTransformationParameters()
    .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    // set up file name for receiver adapter
    String SourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    conf.put(key, TargetFileName);
    return " ";
    4. Map the above UDF to the header level of the target structure.

  • Dynamic XML file names in ODI

    Hi All,
    Is there a way can we call the XML names dynamically.?
    Here is the Scenario,
    I have multiple XML files of same structure to be loaded into an Oracle table.
    I have first created a XML dataserver and have given the exact path and the file name for reversing the XML model for the first time. The JDBC url was,
    jdbc:snps:xml?f=/xml/file/#XML_TEST.FILE_TEST.xml&s=XML_TEST&dod=true&ro=true
    After reversing i have changed the JDBC url of the XML dataserver to,
    jdbc:snps:xml?f=/xml/file/#XML_TEST.var_FILE_NAME.xml&s=XML_TEST&dod=true&ro=true
    I have created a variable *#XML_TEST.var_FILE_NAME* to get all the XML file names.
    After that i tried to view the data from the datastores present under previously reversed XML model, but was getting the following error :
    java.sql.SQLException: While generating the DTD from the XML file, a org.xml.sax.SAXParseException exception occurred saying: Document root element is missing.
    Do I need to change anything in the XML model or in the Datastores?
    Warm Regards,
    VBV

    Since you are using the Variable ,when you right click and view datastore its missing the required path of the file, as value of the variable is not determined , to do so you need to either refresh or set the variable and call the interface or other ODI objects and in loop keep reading XML files one by one and that should work.

  • How to get the file name in one of the Xml node field?

    Hi Experts,
    i have one requirement with file name in xml file.
    i need to get <b>the file name of file</b> in one of the node in xml content of that file.
    how can i achieve that req?
    treat this as Very Urgent.

    Hi Bheem,
    Explain your scenario in detail..
    >>i need to get the file name of file in one of the node in xml content of that file.
    1. Create an node <b>Filename</b> in the target datatype.
    2. Check the Option Filename in the Adapter Specific Message Attributes in the sender file CC.
    3. Use the following UDF and map it to the Filename field in the target message type.
    public String getFileName(Container container)
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    String ourSourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    return  ourSourceFileName;

  • Dynamic file name in Export: XML

    I am generating a SQL report on a page that can be exported as XML File and It seems to me the file name come from the name of the report region by default and I 'd like use a value of an item as the XML file name.
    I tried to put &P15_ITEM. as name of report region, then the XML file name I got is: p15_item[1]..xml. But if I change the Report Template back to Standard Template, the region name displays the value of P15_ITEM.
    So, my question is, Is ther anyway we could reset the file name of the XML file, such as the value of an item, In Version 1.6.?
    Million Thanks,

    Thank you Raj for the direction
    The way to do it is :
    1. In ID, advanced tab, put a check on the adapter-specific message attributes - file name.
    2. Put a "*" on the file name scheme
    3. In IR, create a UDF to set up target file name :
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
    .getTransformationParameters()
    .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    // set up file name for receiver adapter
    String SourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    conf.put(key, TargetFileName);
    return " ";
    4. Map the above UDF to the header level of the target structure.
