Unistall Itunes
How do I un-install Itunes?
I purchased a brand new ipad mini, have an iphone 4 and a mac book. My mac book will not communicate with my iphone 4 or my ipad mini. It says I need itunes version 11. I have Itunes version 10.6.... I've tried going to Mac Website directly to install new versions of itunes, I've tried getting updates within itunes, I've updated my OS software on Mac book, updated my iphone 4, updated the ipad, restarting computer, I've tried everything every different way 10 times. Nothing I do will allow me to update my Itunes on Mac Book. Ultimately, not allowing my Mac Book to communicate with my other apple devices. I'm at my last straw with this and will be posting my Ipad mini on Craigs List soon. Slowly leaving the apple community as my products get older and I upgrade. Sad but its expensive merchandise and you would think that only having one phone, 2 ipads and a few computers and a company market cap, that was at one point, one of the richest companies in the world, would allow you the man power to make a semless community and system. Seriously frusterated. Maybe I just don't understand. Maybe I just have to purchase the same song 3 times so I can play it on my different devices or maybe apple has a new user friendly policy that I have to purchase the song everytime I play it. Fun.
You need to upgrade your operating system to Snow Leopard 10.6 in order to upgrade iTunes.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
You should now see the App Store icon, and you now need to set up your account:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

Hi texasslagle,
It sounds like you are having issues installing iTunes on your Windows 7 PC, a frustrating situation I am sure.
There is an article that you may want to use to try to complete your install here -

Try using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and delete the iTunes installer. Then try installing iTunes again

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
when I move my mouse Itunes stops playing music. Sometimes this happens immediatly and sometime it take 10 to 15 sec. I tried playing Itunes and then tabing another program but same result. If I click on play and do not move mouse Itunes works as usual.. This was happening before I installed latest version. I have installed latest version three times. First and install, then as a repair, and third time I unistalled Itunes and reinstalled i.

At various stages over the years, mouse-related iTunes trouble has been associated with driver conflicts. So it might be worth following up on that possibility.
Head to the drivers and downloads page for your model of PC, and check to make sure you're not behind on any chipset and input-device-related driver updates. (And while there, just in case, also check to make sure your BIOS, sound-card/integrated audio, and video-card/display-adaptors are up to date.)
If you're behind on anything, and you update, does that help with the mouse-related iTunes issues? -

Windows 7 Installer asks me to unistall iTunes 9 and deauthorize computer..
Hi everyone!
Trying to do the migration from Windows Vista to 7 and the setup program tells me I have to unistall (among other software) iTunes 9 and deauthorize my computer before installation of Windows 7. Has anyone received the same message and if so what do I suppose to do with my library and how long will I have to wait for a compatible version? I tried looking at different sites but so far haven't found an official estatement from Apple....I have recently went from Windows Vista to Windows 7, and the installer gave me the same warning: Deauthorize iTunes before upgrading to Windows 7. I do not know why this is, however, I did just that, and the upgrade went extremely smooth for me. After the upgrade, I went back to iTunes and reauthorized iTunes and media files played wonderfully.
As long as you backed up your files (this is EXTREMELY recommended when doing any type of upgrade or OS install), your media should be safe. -

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Can anyone provide more specific info when transferring iTunes to new computer. i have completed all steps including the ones ive seen on the forums since others have had same issue. Uninstall iTunes. Reinstall iTunes. Check synch all music uncheck synch all music...When I try to sync with new computer it transfers music, some go into downloaded songs only, if i connect to old computer its better, and then there is the new cloud! I am regretting changing computers but it was time. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just want my iPhone 4S 64g to synch correctly and completely.
It is probably best to start over. These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.
