Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates -
Apple Mobile Device Support uninstall and itunes install causes loss of internet connection
Whenever I uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) I lose my internet connection. The only way to fix this is to restore Windows to a previous state. I've tried troubleshooting my internet connection when this happens but Windows tells me something is wrong with both my wired and wireless connection drivers... and of course I need the internet to fix said drivers :s
I've tried repairing AMDS and this doesn't help either.
I've been trying to download itunes but it tells me a program needed to install it cannot be run. After this I can't get back on the internet without first restoring windows to a previous state. I thought that uninstalling everything apple from my system would do the trick but I can't seem to uninstall AMDS without messing up my internet drivers. What else can I try?Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
Normal update of iTunes to 11.1.4 fails. Suggests installing from web site
I install from iTunes.com. Install issues the messages:
Service "Apple Mobile Device' failed to start.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services
I do have necessary privilegs. I hit ignore. See window with successful install come up and finish with launch. I get the messages:
iTunes was not installed correctly.
Please reinstall iTunes
Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Tring to start iTunes from desktop gives:
This application failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found
Re-installing the application may fix the problem.
Further repair or remove/reinstall does not fix the problem (including after reboot)
Thie is the first time this has happened. I'm not sure where to go from here
Thanks for any help.Earlier suggestion worked. That is, Use software add/remove to delete all 5 iTunes applications:
Apple Application Support

Apple Mobile Device Service Quits repeatedly
This just started happening a few days ago. When I try to sync my iPhone with iTunes,it says "iPhone cannot be used because Apple Mobile Device Service is not started." I followed the instructions found on this site and,by turning the service back on for Bonjour and Apple and it worked. Then next time I tried synching, it did the same thing. Now everytime. Help?
This can often be caused by security software producing a false positive. Try temporarily disabling your security program if you have one installed. If that fixes the issue, most of these programs have a method for allowing a blocked service or application.
See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125
If this is not the case or the issue persists, you might try reinstalling iTunes and related components.

No Apple Mobile Device Support, how to get it back?
I unstalled Apple Mobile Device Support since I thought I would get it back when I downloaded the latest version of itunes. Instead an error message came up; There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact you rsupport personnel or package vendor. On viewing all programs to unstall/ delete/ or repair the Apple Mobile Device Support is not on the list. So I'm wondering how can i get Apple Mobile Device Support can be reinstalled when it's be deleted, and whether this can be done without downloading the most recent itunes and its related components. From the Control Panel I went to Programs and when I found itunes I clicked on repair to help with the Apple Mobile Device only to come across the following message, Service "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services with the following options cancel, retry, and ignore. How do I get Apple Mobile Device Support back where can I download it and not have to download the latest itunes?Much help appreciated! Thanks.
I have looked at this article, and followed their instructions for uninstalling itunes and its related components. I wasn't able to delete Bonjour a related conpoment of itunes and got the following message, There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact you rsupport personnel or package vendor. So I am not able to finish the instructions. So far I've used the following website to download Apple Mobile Device Support and follow the instructions there to get it back.

And cant figure out how to get it back on my computer I installed the newest itunes and even try some of the older versions like iTunes 7.7 and nothing seems work. Help Me please. Ive been sitting here for the last 6 1/2 hours trying to figure this out and im getting frustrated behind belief. I have the newest version of iTunes installed on my Dell Windows XP Desktop ad tried downloading a song to sync it, Works fine on my desktop but wont work for my Windows Vista Laptop. All my music over 3,000 files are on this laptop so someone PLEASE HELP ME, Thank You
Apple Mobile Device Services is installed when iTunes installs. Carefully delete (through the control panel) iTunes, QuickTime, and any other software labeled Apple that you find.
Before you download and re-install the version for iTunes, look for driver updates from your computer manufacturer and for Vista. Once you have done that, if you are running Norton or Mcafee anti-virus and or firewall, disable those for the download from Apple for iTunes 8.1.1.
After you have re-installed iTunes, use the steps in this article to make sure that Apple Mobile Device Service is running. -
TS1538 apple mobile device USB driver not listed in Windows 7
Installed iTunes on my son's HP laptop, but when he plugs in his iPhone 4 it is not recognized in iTunes. I've done the following:
* Rebooted the computer.
* Tried multiple USB ports. The cable is good because the device can charge without any problems.
* Restarted the Apple Mobile Device service.
* Uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and all other Apple software.
* Verified that there are no Apple related devices listed anywhere in Device Manager.
* Been through all of the troubleshooting steps at this site: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
His iPhone is currently on a version less than 5.0. iTunes is whatever is currently available from iTunes.com.
I'm stumped. I'd love to hear some other idea. I appreciate any and all help.PhotoWes wrote:

That's not really helpful.
What specific version of iOS is on the device and more importantly, what version of iTunes?
Just because someone believes they are running the current version does not make it so. -

i found it out that the apple mobile device is running yet there is no driver that is loading so that it can recognize my iphone
any suggestions on how to get the computer automatically to search the driver in the system32/drivers folder?
i already tried downloading the driver and copying into the folder and doing restart
i've also tried to reinstalling itunes and i used winrar to extract the applemobiledevice support and repaired but it didn't do anything
are there any other suggestions?Sorry, I should have qualified that: in the past I have given dump/debug/log details to people in the 'Windows' world to try to solve problems that I've thought have needed immense details to resolve but since owning a Mac I have discovered that if I am thinking at that level of detail then I have lost the real plot and my pulling back and looking at things simply again has been an eye-opener, hence my suggestion in response to your question to simply 'get a Mac'.
Part of the 'issue' with Windows seems to be its varieties and variants (Windows 7 x64 Ultimate Edition (Build 7100), for example) and the range of various and variable hardware on which it can run, too often with random and non-deterministic results, not to mention the almost limitless and unnecessary combinations of user-configuration options and requirements!
Seriously, get a Mac if you are into the Apple world, even on the periphery, if you want an easier life (in my experience).
Good luck with your 'issue'. -
hi, firstly my ipod touch is working fine in itunes. i reformated my computer so i lost all my old drivers ect ect, so now my ipod shows up as an image device. i have reinstalled itunes several times and installed apple mobile device but still doesnt work, i have also searched for the usbappl or whatever it is and i cant find it, i have usbappl .dll but no .sys or .inf please help
All it is supposed to show up as in Windows is an image device.
If it's working fine in iTunes, what is the issue? -
I was prompted to update itunes this evening. I did and in the process, it came up with the following error message: Service "apple mobile device" (apple mobile device) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient priviledges to start system services. I unistalled itunes completly and reinstalled but am still getting the same error message. If I click "ignore" the program will finish downloading but will not launch due to "not being installed correctly". Please help, I use this program alot with my first grade classroom and they're expecting their listening center in the morning.

Hi,
I have tried and confimed that you can download the previous version from some web-site about the version 10.5.1.42.
Remove/un-install 10.5.2.11 and restart your computer.
Install the old version 10.5.1.42
and then you can find the "Devices" on the left column and showing synchronizing when you connect the cable.
Good luck
