Unit of measure EA allows transactions in decimals ? Is EA indivisible?

Unit of measure EA allows transactions in decimals ? Is EA indivisible?
There are two scenarios. While creating a Bill of material - based on the configuration (see below) if you enter a quantity with decimals for a part number for which the Basic UOM is EA the system displays a message "Unit of measure EA does not support decimal places" THIS IS GOOD AS EXPECTED
While transacting using MB1B, MB1C, MB1A, MFBF, MIGO or other transactions the system DOES NOT check and it is currently allowing us to post with decimals (1.25, 1.312) for part number for which the unit of measure is EA.
Was not EA supposed to be an indivisible unit of measure? why is the warning message getting activated while creating or changing a BOM and why not while transacting stock?
We have configured EA in the CUNI transaction as follows:
Int. meas. unit      EA
Commercial           EA              each
Technical            EA              each
Decimal places
float. point exp.
ISO code             EA
                                      Primary code
Numerator            1
Denominator          1
Exponent             0
Additive constant    0.000000       X Commercial meas.unit
Decimal pl. rounding                 Value-based commt
Unit of meas.family

you cannot restrict this behaviour with CUNI customizing, you can only check and stop this in a user exit.
SAP inventory managment allows and stores 3 decimals for any unit of measure. You can only define how it will show the value to the users and how it will round the decimals if it calculates the conversion. But if you enter manually with decimals, then SAP will not round this.

    Diagnosis
You have entered a unit of measure for a component of the item category N which does not correspond to the base unit of measure maintained in the material master record.
    Procedure
Use the base unit of measure maintained in the material master record.
Please give  the solution  for how do handle that issue.

    Hi
My requirement is: The item category N should allow me to use alternate UOM.
When i checked with Item category L, the system allows me to use alternate UOM. I need the same to work for Itm category N also.
Through  forums, i found that, in standard SAP, system will not allow to use alternate UOM for Item catedory N.
Is there any config settings to be done for my requirement?
    Kindly do the needful.

  • Unit of measure and mb1a issue

    Dear Experts,
In our plant we are using Tape BOPP for taping the Boxes. So please tell me if we want to use unit of measurement as EA then what should we mentioned the component qty for one box in EA. At present our company has maintained the component qty as 0.4 EA for 1 box.
And following the conversion factor which are maintained in mm01 through additional data screen.
    1 ROL     = 1 ROL
    65 meter = 1 ROL
    1 EA       = 1 ROL
But while doing mb1a system is taking the qty as 1 EA instead of 0.4 EA. please suggest how to overall this problem.
    Regards,
    Phalgun patel

The problem is that reservation is always made in the basic unit of measure (EA), which have no decimals in the standard SAP.
    You must choose between:
    a) using the smaller unit of measure (meters) as suggested by SAP, and EA an altenative UoM
    b) define a new UoM called ED or similar (transaction CUNI), which a copy of EA but allowing decimal places.

  • Unit of measure for Stock and Non-stock Item in CJ20N

When I attach Material to an activity (item Category N   Non-stock item) in Project Builder (CJ20N), It is peaking its Base unit of Measure as unit. Now when I try to change it, it is showing an error
Item category N: Only base unit of measure M allowed
    Message no. CO344
But for the same material if I change the item Category to L   Stock item, then it allows me to change the unit.
Please guide me regarding this Behavior. Is there any customization, by doing which it will allow me do the same for Non-stock Item or It is not Possible.

firstly I am assuming that the activity is internal processing type - doesn't matter really
now to attach a material select actvity and from the template area click and drag material which will open the material detail screen in the work area
because it is a non stock item I am assuming text description - in the requirements qty you enter the qty and next to it the units - changeable
if you choose a material number maintained as material master then obviously the unit will be from the material master.
If you are using an externally processing activity then in config check OPUU for the network type and see if order unit has been populated - that might be the problem

  • Mass upload of Alternative unit of measure using MASS

    Hi All,
Can some one guide me how to upload alternative unit of measure using MASS Transaction -  can you elaborate like fields to be considered also, as I am trying using MM17 but could not go further.
    Thanks,
    Vengal Rao.

it is possible to create alternative units using MM17. But I would not use the word upload in that matter, as you cannot upload from an external file.
    start MM17-
    select table MARM and execute
    you see 2 tabs,
you are at the Change record tab, please set indicator for do not change existing data, then go to the creation tab
enter the material number and the alternative unit you want add .
    then execute
Now you see your material number, the new unit and the material description
click the icon for field selection and add the field nominator and denominator (and all other fields where you usually enter data) to your shown fields.
enter the value of your choice and save.
if you want add the same value for nominator and denominator  to all the materials listed, then enter the value  in the fields that are listed above the listed materials. then click the header title above all fields that shall be distributed followed by the mass change button. Finally press save button.

  • Conversion factor error in sales order - Unit of measure

    Hi All,
I have uploaded a sales item in to sales order with alternate UoM. The base unit of measure for that material is TO but i have uploaded with a alternate UoM KG. After that i have created project deliveries, invoices and accounted those invoices in last financial year and now i found that the conversion factor which is taken by the system was wrong.
Instead of taking 1000 KG = 1 TO, system has taken 1KG = 1000 TO
I have checked the material master there there is no alternate UoM has maintained.
So now my concern is that
    1. how i can correct this conversion factor with out disturbing my old transactions.
    2. From where system is considered this conversion factor.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bhadrarao.

Check your conversion factors in your Unit of Measure configuration.  Transaction CUNI. Look at the unit of measures for Mass.
    Best Regards,

  • Decimals in unit of measure

    Hi experts,
Although I have decimal places and decimal pl. rounding = 0 in CUNI for a unit of measure, the system allows me to use decimals. Does anyone know how to avoid this?
    Thanks, Maria

    Hi,
It is standard system behaviour to be able to input quantity with
decimal places during good movements, even if the corresponding unit of
measure has been defined with zero decimal places.
Please, kindly check the two attached notes 22043 and 77525, where it
is said that there is no rounding performed when you make a goods
movement and the system does not stop the user from entering a quantity
    with decimal places.
These notes can be found in service market place

  • SPRO: Quantity Optimizing and Allowed Logistics Units of Measure.

    Hi,

    Procedure
    Contact your system administrator.
This problem is related to customizing (SPRO), <b>Quantity Optimizing and Allowed Logistics Units of Measure</b> but I don't think is mandatory performing the above configuration.
With trx ME21 the problem doesn't exist....
    Yours truly

    Hi,
If conversion b/w pound and gallon has not been maintained in material master then conversion needs to be entered manually in PO.
For PR price to be adopted in PO, Go to OMET and create a Function Authorization Key as "01", here activate "Adopt PO Price" and then assign this key to parameter ID EFB in user master SU01. And then in PR under "Valuation" Tab, you will get option for Adopting PR Price to PO. And then refer PR to PO, it will copy the PR price in PO.
    Configuration Details of Parameter "EFB"
If you want to find these field.you should configure your SAP sytem like belowing:
    1. Go to SPRO > MM > Purchasing > Authorization Management > Define Function Authorizations for Buyers > Function Authorizations: Purchase Order > Here "New Entries" and define Function Authorization Key as "01" and give description.
OR use T. Code - OMET
Here under "General parameters" subscreen, cctivate "Adopt PO Price" indicator and select "Enter conditions"
In "Possible ref. objects", select "W/o reference" otherwise reference documents (for e.g. PR, RFQ, etc...) for PO creation will become mandatory.
    2. Now go to SU01 > Enter User ID > Parameters Tab > Here for Parameter ID EFB i.e. Function Authorization: Purchase Order, maintain value "01" and check in PO, PR will become mandatory for that user.
    3. Now during creation of PR in ME51N, under "Valuation" Tab, you will get option for PO Price Adoption as Net or Gross. Select as per your requirement and it will copy Price to PO.
In PR we have the valuation price. Also under valuation tab in PR we have a dropdown list called PO Price with 3 options " As net price" and " As gross price" and "Do not adopt.
If we use PM order create PR.This field set Do not adopt; if we use PS project builder create PR,this fileld set AS net price. So I want to know where I can config this field's value?

  • Decimals regarding Unit of measurement

    Dear Experts,
I'm facing to an issue related to the following unit of measure : KM and DAY.
I would like to add decimal places for these units of measure (3 places after decimal point) because actually it is 0 by default. I heard that it is not recommended.
These above units of measure are used in our material masters. And there are some open purchase orders, contracts for these materials.
    Thank you for your help.
    Best regards,
    houcinne

    Hello Lakshman,
I agree with you for not changing this table. I think it's risky. So I've decided to use another unit of measure such as H (hour) and M (meter).
    Best regards,

  • Base Unit Of Measurement error

    Dear Sir \ Mam,
Our some materials base unit of measurement is in KG, and we want to make bills, excise RG1 entry in KG for milligram sales or material transfer. How to go for such transaction, system is not allowing for such transactions.
Pls Note : We can't create two separate materials code for these UOM issue materials.
    Requesting a help.
    Regards,
    Randhir Padwal

    Hi,
As per my understanding you have base unit in KG and you want to material issue and sales in miligram unit. If this is requirement then you may try to assign "sales unit" for material master in "sales:sales org1" view. you have to also give the conversion rate from KG to miligram in additional data.
for issuing you have to maintain issue unit "miligram" in material master view "Plant data/stor1"

  • QM_Change of base unit of measure not possible

    Dear QM Experts,
    Scenario is,
    1.     Material master created with QM view activation.
    2.     The Base Unit of Measure kept as EA
    3.     Inspection plan prepared for material with usage 5 and status 4.
    4.     Material has not undergone any purchase order / production order / routing or any other transactions except inspection plan.
    5.     No movements have done and the stock is zero
    6.     The requirement is to change Base Unit of Measure from EA to KG
When tried through MM02 system throws an error message as The base unit of measure cannot be changed; choose "Display errors" Message no. M3189
When viewed through log another information gets displayed as Routings already exist that are assigned to the material. Task list type Q.
I tried through trial and error method. First material assignment was deleted from task list, problem did not resolve. Thereafter deletion flag put to task list. No impact. At last entire task list deleted. Still system does not allow changing unit.
Has anybody faced the same problem ever? Whether deletion of task list (By T-Code QSR6) from data base will server the purpose? What are the obligations that one must follow while execution QSR6?
Or if there is any other solution to this requirement?
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards,
    Anand Rao

    Hi
*What are the obligations that one must follow while execution QSR6?*
By this T code  Deletion is very much possible provided that
If there are no stocks of the material in the current period and in the previous period
If there are stocks in the previous period, you can clear them as follows:
    a) Post the stock in the previous period to the current period (for example, using movement type 561) so that the stock for the previous period is the same as the stock for the current period.
    b) Clear the stock with the posting date in the previous period (for example, using movement type 562).
If no purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or scheduling agreements exist for the material
Material Is used in any task list/Rauting.
Now as per your schenario I hope you have checked Inspection lot & PR,PO.
Error showing Q type of task list.
Go to PLKO & MAPL table for this material & group & Gr counter check the entry.
Check deletion Indicator in both the tables. If it has status "X" then this task list is very much possible to delete through QSR6.
I hope this will add some value to your Execuation.
    Regards
    Sujit

  • Batch specific unit of measure in process order

    Hello,
I have a BOM with a component with active ingredient.
Batches are classified and transaction MMBE shown stock correctly in both units.
But when creating the process order I get two items with same item numer in the material list.
One for batch specifiv unit of measure which is fine.
I also get another line in the base unit of measure.
In table RESB both records have movement allowed so they show up in MIGO.
This increases the total requirements for the component.
    What is happening??
    Best regards,
    TOr

    Thanks for caring!
As for transaction MMBE it all looks fine. So basic definitions must be OK up to that point.
I think the point is to set requirement for the amount of active ingredient.
Do the batch determination for this.
Do the goods issue in physcial quantity which is the base unit of measure.
I did try now with KG in the BOM. I still get  double items in the process order. Now both in KG.
    One line is correclty copied.
The incorrect line which is the same in both cases says 1 KG. which is the correct conversion from  0,01KAI.

    Tor

  • DECIMAL PLACE UN UNIT OF MEASURE

    Dear Friends
is ther any way to maintain decimal place during alternate  unit of measure.  FOr Ex 1  bar = 23.34 Kg. without rounding 100 bar = 2334 kg. i already maintained decimal in CUNI. still not able to maintain decimal.
    Thanks and Regards
    Madhavan

Yes you should be able to maintain this. Ensure that you allow decimals for the UOM Kg in CUNI it should allow this conversion you are referring to. You should put decimal places for both display and conversion.
