Unit of Measure per country

Hello Experts,
I am at a client that is implementing SAP ECC 6.0 in the US and Canada. In the material master, they have a chemical product. In the US they want to inventory the item in Gallons, in Canada they want to inventory the same chemical in Litres. I would prefer not having to create materials according to the UoM. I know in the material master the Base UoM is in MARA table. So if I was to create the chemical material, how do I set it so that the chemical is inventoried in Gallons in the US and Litre in Canada.
Thanks for your help!!!

Hello,
In Inventory Management, the base unit of measure is the same as the stockkeeping unit.. Like as said you need Gallons as stock keeping unit for US and litres for Canada.
I hope that this two ( US & Canada) are seprate entities and will be defined as two seprate plants in your SAP orgainsation structure.
As base unit of measure is stock keeping unit, so you can seprately maintianed UOM for respective plants under basic data view and purchasing view in Material master record. The system converts all the quantities you enter in other units of measure (alternative units of measure) to the base unit of measure which is maintained in additional data tab of material master record,
Now, like you want to stock transfer from US( Gallons) to Canada ( Litres)
Here you can make use of order unit which is maintained in material master record in purchasing view and info record.
You need to activate order unit in material master record and aloso need to main the conversion factor gallons to litre in additional data of MMR.
For US, keep your order unit  as Litres, so whenever you order the material from canada or external vendor it iwll be orderd in litres, which will finally be converted in to Gallons during goods reciept as it is your stock keeping unit.
For Canada, keep you order unit as Gallons, during external procuremt or STO it will be in Gallons, but goods reciept will be done in Litres

  • Bus. Entity - Default Unit of Measurement per Company Code

Experts, I have assigned the default units of measure in "Make Basic Settings in Company Code" config. Surprisingly these entries don't show up in "Default Unit of Measurement per Company Code" config under Business Enity. Also, I cannot add those entries.
    Please treat this as urgent!
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Goto RealEstate (not RE-FX, though you are using RE-FX) \ Basic settings \ Basic Setting for Company codes / Financial asset management, select checkbox of Fin Asset Mangmt for your company code.
Now you can see this company code in company code level settings for company code in business entity level.
Really i dont know why we have to check that checkbox of Asset management to allow at business entity level, but we have to.

  • Base and alternate unit of measure  - Per PO conversion

    Hi,
    Here is my problem :
I buy let's say 100 M of Configurable Material A, the weight  Stock unit (KG) is expected 50 .
Now buy another 100 M of Configurable Material A, the weight  Stock unit (KG) is expected 100 . because of a slightly configuration change.
I which I can change the conversion between Buying Unit and Stock Unit on the PO itself ( UMREN - UMREZ ) depending on the user input or config changes (feg dependency like we do on sales).
I didn't find the right zone to unlock these two fields  in the "SPRO  ... Define screen layout at doc level" , and I am not sure it is the right way to reach my goal.

    Hi,
BASE UOM is the unit of measure which will be used by business to calculate the weight of the goods or rather the Unit of measure in which stocks of the material are managed.
Say for example I create one bulb. The base UOM is PCE or Piece.
It means that the Bulb will be referred to as 1 Piece irrespective of its weight.
So if in the sales order i put 10 PCE of Bulb it means 10 individual unit of the bulb.
Alternative UOM is the Unit of measure in which quantities can be entered alternatively to the base unit of measure / stockkeeping unit.
Say for example in our cases; we are selling these bulbs in boxes.
    I BOX = 10 PCE .
So BOX becomes your alternate UOM.
The relation is maintained in MARM table via the additional view in the Material Master (MM01/ MM02/ MM03 transaction)
The relation 1 : 10 is managed by the UMREN UMREZ fields in MARM.
I hope this is useful for you.

  • Need Multiple Units of Measure for a given material due to multiple vendors

    Hello,
We have a requirement where we must have multiple units of measue (each, box, case, pallet) for a given material.
    Background:
We have multiple vendors for one SAP material number. We need to store 4 levels of units of measure for each vendor+material combination.
    Unit of Meaure levels
    1. Each
    2. Innerpack (ex: 12 each = 1 innerpack)
    3. Box (ex: 36 eaches = 1 box)
    4. Pallet (ex: 100 eaches = 1 pallet)
Standard SAP allows in MM01 additional data --> Units of Measure only 1 Ea, Box, Plt, etc.
Our requirement is to allow multiple Units of Measure due to multiple vendors providing the same material.
So, our unique combination is by a Material+Vendor.
We are considering adding the vendor name and vendor number to the material master --> additional data --> Units of Measure tab.
Does this seem like a good solution? What impacts do you foresee with approach?
    Any alternatve solutions?
We thought we could enhance the purchasing info records to allow multiple units of measure too but then we need to also add many fields to hold the weight, lenght, height, width, volume, country of origin, etc.
Please recommend a best practice or solution to handle this requirement.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi,
Maintain the alternative units in Material Master in Additional Data -> Units of Measure section with proper conversion factors.
Create individual info-records i.e. per mtl-vendor combination & in the info-record maintain the order unit, along with other details as required.
Now when you create a PO, the details will be read from the info-record. To test the same, create them in your sandbox & see if it meets your requirement.
Hope the above clarifies your query.

  • Production Order for a Material with two units of measure?

Hi Everybody I have the following issue.
In my company there is a new production process with a Material that should be configured in the master data with the field "Base Unit of Measure" as per unit (each). But the production process, should be confirmed by tx CO11N, in Kilograms. I know that I can use the additional Data in tx MM03 to set a Production Unit, but the value of convertion would be fixed. For example 122 Kg = 1 each, the thing is that the value in kilograms for each lot can vary, one lot can weight 122 and another one can weghr 125, and in each case I shoul have two units in stock. And as I have the value of convertion fixed, when I confirm each lot one for 122 kg and another for 125 kg I will have 2.025 units in MB52.
How can I solve this problems? I need to have the chance the confirm in kg changing for each lote the quantity but in the base Unit of Measure have one unit for lot. As if for tx CO11N I could have a field where I can set tha x quantity of Kilograms is x each.
    Kind regards
    Leandro.

Hi Ayoub, First thank`s for your promt answer,
    1. The Quantity is different, because is not a perfect process, there is a manual work in the process that makes this quantity differ, there is no big difference, maybe a Kilo or Two but the production mannager wants to have this registered. And besides in productions they manage kilograms, but for selling the comercials manage units (each - EA)
2.The convertion rate is known at the end of the process after cutting and packaging a unit, they weight it.
    Regards
    Leandro

  • Round off problem in unit of measurement

    Dear Experts
We are in SAP 4.7 , we are having more than 12 plants using same client.
One of our plant requirement we were changed the UOM 'Nos' with 3 decimels allowed. So where ever we not useing decimel places we have to use UOM as 'EA' (each). This is dont have any decimel places.
Now we are in implementation project for our one more new plant in same client. But for them we are going to introduced Batch specific unit of measurement. Base unit of measurement is KG and Batch specific UOM is EA.
All sale material have both unit of measurement , inward or production posting in KG and we will create batch number. We will enter the coversion value of how many quantity per kg for each batch. This will be in 'EA'
While i'm doing transfer posting or consumption or sales for the material in UOM 'EA' , it is coming with 3 decimel places.
If the same UOM 'EA' in normal condition (without batch specific UOM) it is working correctly. It is getting roundoff correctly.
Please help me out on this.I need the consumption should not be decimel places for UOM 'EA'.
    Suresh

    Hi Senthilkumar SD,
You have not read the thread before posting.
It quite clearly states that the UOM EA already has NO DECIMAL PLACES.
Quote "<b>we have to use UOM as 'EA' (each). This is dont have any decimel places."</b>
It is good to see lots of people trying to help and so I am pleased to see you trying, but it really doesn't help if you haven't read the question before posting the answer.

  • Base Unit Of Measurement error

    Dear Sir \ Mam,
Our some materials base unit of measurement is in KG, and we want to make bills, excise RG1 entry in KG for milligram sales or material transfer. How to go for such transaction, system is not allowing for such transactions.
Pls Note : We can't create two separate materials code for these UOM issue materials.
    Requesting a help.
    Regards,
    Randhir Padwal

    Hi,
As per my understanding you have base unit in KG and you want to material issue and sales in miligram unit. If this is requirement then you may try to assign "sales unit" for material master in "sales:sales org1" view. you have to also give the conversion rate from KG to miligram in additional data.
for issuing you have to maintain issue unit "miligram" in material master view "Plant data/stor1"

  • Unit of measure in condition table

    Hi,
I'm creating a new condition type and it should be maintained in MEK1/2/3.
The new condition type is copied from RUC1.
According to the business requirement, I have set REST as the access sequence to the new condition type.
    Requirement;
    1. The condition record should be determined by vendor
    2. The validity period will not in use (i.e. 1900/01/01-9999/12/31)
    3. The unit of measure of the material to be purchased can be either PCE or PR
    Issue;
It seems I can create a condition record per one vendor per only one UoM.
I have create a condition record for PCE, and set a scale 1PR = 1PCE for that condition record.
However, when I've tried to create a PO, I've got a quantity conversion error.
Does any one know  how I can configure the 2 UoM for one vendor?
    Restriction;
The material master is shared with other companies.
Therefore, we cannot maintain material master for this local requirement.
It has to be managed only by configuration.
Your help would be much appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Mari

Test once by using your own custom condition table.
Create a condition table for the fieldCatlg Vendor, Material, Oder Unit etc (as per your requirement)
Then rest of all as per your settings. Then you can maintain the condition record as per order unit.
For more about create condition table refer to the blog Pricing procedure Steps and Details in SAP MM

  • Unit of measurement problem

    Hi,
A material has its base unit as "Number" & additional unit as "KG" while creating PR it takes only NO not KG and same follows in PO. How can that be solved?

    Hello
It will take NO while creating the PR even if you change in Material master purchasing view. i.e. Ordering unit as KG and also in info record. while creating the PO, the unit will be changed to KG based on conversion factor. After Gr, the system will show the stock in NO as NO is base unit of measure. (stock keeping unit).
If you want to change the base unit of measure, then please refer the following poitns :
As per the SAP standard functionality , We  want to change the base unit of measure (base unit). for material master,  during the change, the system performs extensive checks in order to avoid inconsistencies in the applications which use the material master .
In particular, the following checks are performed:
The base unit must not be defined as an alternative unit of measure for the material
No International Article Number must be assigned to the base unit
No proportion/product units must be defined for the material
No configurable material must be assigned
The material must not be used as a configurable material-
Stock must neither exist for the previous period nor for the current period -
No physical inventory must be active -
No reservations or dependent requirements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
No planned orders must exist -
No purchase requisitions, purchase orders or scheduling agreements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set-
No WM transfer requirements, no WM quants or no WM posting change notices must exist -
The material must not be a bill of material
The material must not be contained in a bill of material -
The material must not be used as a production resource/tool -
The material must not be used in task lists -
No standard cost estimate must exist for the current or future period
    No production orders must exist
No planned independent requirements must exist
No run schedule headers must exist
If the base unit has dimensions, no serial number profile must be assigned
No sales and distribution documents must exist which have status Not processed or Partially processed
Other alternative solution in case of Urgency:
Creation of a new material master similar to the current material and using the new code for further usage.
    Warm regards

  • Material Master MATMAS IDOC and base unit of measurement

    Hi
We are using SAP standard material master IDOC type MATMAS05 to trigger IDOC. Our material master is having base unit of measure as "G". We are not using ISO unit of measurement. But Material master IDOC, segment E1MARM is populating base unit of meaurement (MEINS) as "GRM".
Any idea why IDOC is picking ISO unit of measurement instead of material master base unit of measurement.
Any idea how to send base unit of measurememt as "G" instead of "GRM" in DOC segment.
    Thanks
    Nilesh

There are ISO codes for country keys, currency keys, units of measure and shipping instructions. According to SAP design guidelines, you should use ISO codes for an IDoc if they are available. When you set up the IDoc, the SAP codes have to be replaced by ISO codes.

  • Material master-additonal unit of measurement

    HI, I have three questions
    a) we have the follwoing data defined in material master (additonal data)
    X UOM Y UOM EAN
    1 LITRES 1 LITRES NIL
    1 IGB (inner packg) 20 LITRES 345922222222
    1 GBE (packg) 20 LITRES 345922222222
I need to know what is EAN no and in our case the EAN no is same for both inner packg and pack. . what does this mean. Sometimes we also see the EAN no is different. why... what it signifies ?
    2) We have outbound idoc trigerred from delivery. message type is WHSOD. in one of the segments (E1EDL24), the system shows the delivery qty and material no. This segment also shows the EAN NO AS 345922222222. In segment E1EDL26, the filed UMVKZ shows as 1 which is ok (numerator as shown above) but the numerator field shows 1 only (it does not show 20 litres,, i think the field name is UB something ).
I need to know why the system is not showing 20 litres in numerator in the filed for segment E1EDL26.
    3) Had we have two different EAN in material master as above, did our standard message type would have shown the conversion factors (numerator and denomi ) as per the EAN nos.....If yes, then in which segments ,the WHSORD shows the Conversion factors based on different EAN nos in material master-UOM tab (for instance if 1 GBE (packg) = 30 LITRES and EAN IS 345911111111.... I think there will be as many segments in idoc as there are entries in Additonal data-UOM tab )

    Hi Jurgen,
I think you did not understand. My questions is as follows.
    a) why we maintain alternative UOM in material  mastr (additional data) ? an example ould be good.
    b) We have in our system base unit of masuement as  litres and sales unit as blank. that means system will take sales unit of measurementt as litres only.
now we make sales order and make delivery and a outbound whsord idoc is sent to third party warehouse. the third party warehouse undertsands only IGB(pack ) unit of measure wherase our idoc i think will carry LT (litres ) as UOM...
we do maintain the conversion factor between litres and IGB in our material master (additional data tab). That is our idoc shud carry conevrsion factor as maintained in ur material maste ( 20litres =1 igb ). so our idoc shud carry .05 as conversion factor
so that our third party warehouse understands that and dispatch 1 IGB of qty (2 litres as per our delivery )

  • Change for Unit of measure in condition master

    Hi, gurus..
I want to know this is SAP error or not..
I created condition for material H20.
    H20     70500 usd  per 1 SET
and edited the unit of measure in addtion of material master record.
    1 EA - 1EA
    1 SET - 6 EA
then I create SO in VA01 with line item
    H20   1EA   ...
but condition record showed me a wrong value..
    H20    11774  usd  per 1EA...
    70500 / 6  = 11750  usd..Why  11774...??
So, I changed the condition for more test..
    H20  11750 usd per 1EA...
After input line item in VA01.
    H20  1 Set...
then condition was 70500 usd per 1 SET ..Right result..
I tried it on other system ( Best Practices 1606) once more  but result was same.
This is SAP ERROR ??? or not..
    Plz..give me your ideas..

    Dear Kim,
this error will come due to conversion factor at sales order level .kindly check in the item level how the conversion factor will take the system and also try to change the Quantity and check once again. this will come rare case , if you want to check the conversion error ,debug at the sales order level . for your reference I am attachment the conversion factor path .

  • Changing the Unit of Measurement in Material Master

    Dear Experts,
Material DF21DENG (fert) was created with KGS (kilogram per second) as its unit of measurement. A material BOM was now created for DF21DENG.
I intend to change the unit of DF21DENG from KGS to KG (kilogram).  On doing this in the Basic data view of DF21DENG, i get the message " change is not possible because a BOM exists for this material".
In the BOM of DF21DENG, I set the deletion flag on & tried to change the unit in the Material master again but got the same massage.
Please how can I effect this change?

This response was helpful but was solved the problem was that; from the Edit, i  selected Delete  from the drop down & then the alternative BOM was deleted.

  • Unit of Measurement in Material Master

    Hello Experts...
I have an intresting issue on Unit of Measurement. I would like to maintain alternative unit of measurement as per below..
    1 EA = 1 EA
    1 ROLL = 5000 EA
    1 CT = 150,000 EA
However the field UMREZ length in the material master allows me to enter upto 5 digits...and also it is not possible to enter decimal digits here.
Have any one of you faced this kind of issue, if any one faced what would be the solution for this...?
Look forward to hearing from you..
    Cheers
    Umakanth..

    Hi Umakanth,
For increasing the numerator for conversion of base unit of measure, UMREZ  would be  appending the structure SMEINH by requesting Access Key from SAP.
Even though its not a suggestible decision to append standard SAP structure , if the requirement demands we may need to do that.
    Cheers!
