Unity Connect and O365 Restrictions

Hi,
Has anyone heard of any updates regarding the restrictions imposed by Office 365.
Unity Connect is limited to a maximum of 19 user per unified messaging service
Microsoft are supposed to be opening these restrictions up.
Now sure when though.
Regards
Dominic

That is correct, but you can add another 19. But I  believe you can create another service account, then add 19 more and repeat.  It supposed to be fixed soon, but its up to MSFT I believe in Office365 to open it up.

  • Unity Connections and SMTP

Currently I have Unity 8.6. I have a remote office that will not be on our domain or Exchange server (they are going to Microsoft 365). Is there a way to send via SMTP their voicemails over to them with the acknowledgement that features will not all be there like Unified Messaging?
    Thanks!

    Hello David,
I would also need clarification on what stands for remote office, is it a CUC, Exchange server or something else?
Assuming that what you are trying to deploy is relaying messages to users outside from your CUC server without using Unified Messaging then you would just simply configure:
    1. Smart Host: This will be the relay point that handles where on messages go. Most likely it will be an Exchange server.
2.Under User>Edit>Message Actions> Select for Voicemails or all the applicable options you wish to relay> Accept and relay. Then at the bottom put the email address where you want it to be send.
Basically CUC will notice that the address is an external domain, it will look for the Smart Host configured and send the message, afterwards Connection is out of the scope and it's up for Exchange or whatever other server you have configured to manage the messages to reach it's intended destination.

  • Trouble with Unity Connection and LDAP

Our CUCM 8.6 is currently integrated with LDAP, this was done before I started with the company, I'm working on getting the CUC integrated as well, but I keep getting the following error message:
Error while Connecting to ldap://xx.xx.xx.xx:389, null
I took the exact same settings that was used on the cucm (the LDAP syncs fine with CUCM)

Any ideas what could be causing that error? I've ran into this before somewhere but was able to figure out that it was something with the way I had put in the OU..This time I'm really I have not idea, especially since I took the settings from the LDAP setup in CUCM.

    Hi Chris,
Yes I'm sure the sync is still working, I've went into CUCM and did a full sync and it was successful, I also hit save and that was successful as well, that was the first thing I did just to make sure it was working, I was thinking like you that maybe it wasn't working properly ...I'll take some screen shots and post shortly

  • Unity Connection 8.6 call transfer to non-unity extension

I have converted from Unity to Unity Connection and am looking for a solution for transferring an incoming call to a non-unity user extension.
Here is the scenario:  An PSTN caller calls in and is directed to a Unity Connection Call Handler or a Subscriber greeting.  In the greeting they are advised that if they know the extension they want to call, they can dial it at any time.  Here is the rub, if they dial an extension for a user listed in Unity Connection, the call gets transferred to the extension.  However, if the extension dialed is to an extension that is not a Unity Connection User, the attendant comes back and say the extension is not understood.
In Unity before conversion, I would make an internet user that did not have a mailbox but was listed with an extension.  However, with Unity Connection, I am using LDAP integration with Microsoft AD and I don't see a method of doing the same thing.
Is anyone else doing something like this or know of a method to do it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Gene Keel

In the greeting check this box:
Allow Transfers to Numbers Not Associated with Users or Call Handlers
also make sure the number entered by the call is allowed in Default System Transfer restriction table.

  • Unity Connection 7 with overlapping extension

    Hello everybody,
I'm deploying a CUCM 7.1.3 + Unity Connecion 7.1.3 to a customer, and I have a doubt when using overlapping extension. As it's a large environment, he has overlapping extension number in his multiple sites. For example, both SiteA and SiteB have the extension range 8XXX. In CUCM I have configured some translations patterns, so that an user from SiteA should dial 118XXX in order to reach SiteB, and an user in SiteB should dial 218XXX in order to reach site A. And each site has its own line partition to extension numbers. And everything works fine...
But these users are all in the same Unity Connection Server. So I would have users from SiteA and SiteB with the same extension in Unity Connection, and I can't do that. What I know can do is to configure some partitions from SiteA and SiteB in CUC, and put each subscriber in one partition, right?
But when a user wants to reach the voice mail to get his messages, how Unity Connection knows from which location is he?
Please, anyone could advise me how can I proceed with this configuration?
    Thank you!!!

    Hello,
I workarounded my problem creating multiple VM Profiles, and assigning a diferent Voice Mail Box Mask for each. And in Unity connection I created a alternate extension for each user.
For example... the extension 6000 from SiteA has the VM Profile VM_SiteA, which has the voicemail box mask 11XXXX. And this user in Connection has the alternate extension 116000. And the extension 6000 from SiteB has the VM Profile VM_SiteB, which has the voicemail box mask 21XXXX, and this user has this number as alternate extension as well (216000)... It works fine like this.
But actually I haven't tested the MWI... If I have a translation pattern in CUCM that translates 11XXXX to XXXX (in partition from SiteA), and another 21XXXX to XXXX (in partition from SiteB), and configure the MWI extension in Connection to be 11XXXX and 21XXXX, will it work? Have anyone already tested this?
    Thank you very much!!!

  • Licensing for Unity Connection after Upgrade from 8.5 to 9.1.2

I upgraded my Unity connection from 8.5.1 to 9.1.2. ( my CUCM is still on 8.5.1) . I have 200 CUWL-STD ( 2200 DLUs), and 50 CUWL-PRO (850 DLUs) . Now I am working with Cisco to get a license file for Unity Connection and apply that to my ELM. I attached my licensing page for when I was in 8.5.1 . Just want to make sure if I will be getting enough license with that license file, or possibly I need to buy more. Someone told me that if I want to have users with mailbox I need to order more licenses since every user take one CUWL license.
Honestly i do not know how CUWL licensing work regardig to Unity or even CUCM.
    Thanks,

  • Message Monitor on Unity Connection

Does anyone know if this feature is coming to Unity connection version 9.0 or anytime soon.  It is available on Unity but not Unity Connection and I have several clients interested in this feature.

Does cisco realize that this makes users believe that a migration from Unity to CUC is a downgrade with less features? This is a battle I am fighting right now, as we migrated to CUC 8.6 three months ago. Message Monitor was a highly utilized feature among our users, and I'm having a difficult time convincing them that it is in fact an upgrade to a more stable platform.
Users do not understand why Cisco took away this great feature. Very unfortunate.

  • How to delete users in unity connection

    hello all,
I have a unity connection cluster on version 7.1.3 and a cucm cluster on version 7.1.3
when i try to delete a user in unity connection I get the following error
This user is integrated with a Cisco Unified Communications Manager end user. Some fields may be disabled.
I deleted the user in cucm, however the user is still in Unity connection and i can't delete it,
what's the best way to delete a user ?
    thank you
    Cris

When the CUCM End User is deleted, the corresponding CUC user should  automatically be deleted as well. Sometimes this isn't the case and the  CUC user still exists and cannot be deleted due to other database hooks.
First you will need to find the ObjectId for the user that you want to remove from Connection:
run cuc dbquery unitydirdb SELECT ObjectId from vw_User WHERE Alias = 'alias of the user you want to delete'
Now you will want to delete that user as such (this will fail if there are database hooks still on the orphaned user):
run cuc dbquery unitydirdb EXECUTE PROCEDURE csp_UserDelete (pObjectId = 'objectid from above')

  • Migration of Unity Connection from 8.6 to 10.x

    Hi,
Am planning to upgrade from Unity Connection 8.6 to Unity connection 10.x. My current unity connnection 8.6 is running on Cisco MCS 7825 H3 Hardware.
As my UCS upgrade license is expiring in another 15 days, am planning to upgrade the latest available version.
Is MCS 7825 H3 is compatible for 10.x unity connection and can i directly upgrade from 8.6 to 10.x .
    Pls suggest

    Hi Aman,
    So my understanding is..
    First .....
    1) From the Physical Server take a DRS Backup.UC 8.6
    2) Create the VMware Session for 10.x with respective ova template required for 5000 users.
    3) Intall the 10.x with same config like hostname ip etc.. Both PUB & SUB.
    4) Restore the DRS Backup of 8.6..on 10.x VM ware
    5) With the help of cobras migrate the licenses.
    Second
    1) From the Physical server take a DRS Backup of UC 8.6.
    2) Create the VMware Session for 10.x with respective ova template required for 5000 users.
    3) Install the 8.6 (same version) on vmware with same config like hostname ip etc..Pub & Sub.
    4) Restore the DRS Backup on vmware.
    5) Get the license from cisco.
    6) The upgrade the UC 8.6 to 10.x ..
Which is correct aman First or Second.
Also am confirmed that Unity Connection (UC) 10.x can be integrated with CUCM 8.6.

  • How to find Unity Connection 8.6 users whose AD account is disabled

I have a Unity Connection 8.6 server that is integrated with AD. My main issue going forward is the user maintenance. If a user is disabled in AD, the user's LDAP integration status changes from "Integrate with LDAP Directory" to "Do Not Integrate with LDAP Directory". I understand this is default behavior when the server syncs with AD just as it does on CUCM. When administering thousands of accounts, there are going to be times that I'm not notified of someone leaving the company (more often than not). I need a way to search for these users in the server as most, if not all users are LDAP synced with mailbox. I have tried exporting the users with mailbox and I can't find any difference between an active and inactive AD user.
    Any suggestions?
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
If you use BAT in Unity Connection and export users with mailboxes, when Connection is integrated directly with AD, the LdapCcmUserId field will be present with their AD username, when it's disabled, the field will be blank.

  • Unity Connection 9 AA

I am setting up an AA for one site in our district.  I created a CTI route point in CUCM to point x80010 with call forward all to CUC.  I recorded a standard and a closed greeting.  While listening to this recordings if I dial a known working extension that has a voicemail box it transfers to the VM greeting instead of calling the extension.  Its done this to two separate numbers.  But I cannot seem to find where to tell it to just ring the extension.
    Example:
I call 80010 from phone A.  While listening to the standard greeting I dial extension 61568 which is on phone B.  Instead of ringing phone B it instead transfers directly to voicemail.
Is there a way to stop this?  I just do not see any settings to fix this from the initial call handler 80010.

    Hi Scott,
It almost sounds like a problem with the TRAP & Dial -out ports.
I would try this Tool from the excellent suite of Unity Tools to have a look
to see what info is passed to Unity Connection and what the call flow looks
like when this scenario happens just to make sure that connection is actually
    trying to dial 61568.

  • Unity Connection 8.6 compatibility with CUCM

    Hi,
I am upgrading Unity Version 8.0.3 to 8.6, my current CUCM version is 8.0.2. According to following link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/unified/communications/system/versions/IPTMtrix.html#wp1016708
I will need to upgrade CUCM to 8.6 also, please confirm if this is the case, also can I upgrade to any CUCM 8.6 version available ?
    thanks
    hasrat

    Hi Hasrat,
That doc just refers to the "tested" version but in fact any Unity Connection
version 2.1 or later will work with any CUCM version 4.1(3)or later
So you really don't need to upgrade CUCM at this time if you don't want.
    Here's the clip;
Supported Version Combinations for Cisco Unity Connection and Cisco Unified Communications Manager
Cisco Unity Connection 2.x and Later
Any version of Cisco Unity Connection 2.x or later is supported for use with any version of Cisco Unified CM 4.1(3) or later.

  • Unity Connection 8.x and Novell GroupWise IMAP client.

    Hi,
Unity Connection 8.x clusters, the customer is using Novell Groupwise for email message store. We would like to setup GroupWise IMAP for them.
However one of the customer's restrictions is that they locked down the end-users computers so that Unity Connection message can not be downloaded into end-user's local PC.
I understand that on Unity Connection COS we can setup the option end-user can only access message header, but they have to dial-in the main-pilot number to retrieve message or use web-inbox tool.
    (1) Is there any way for us to setup the IMAP, so that end-user retrieve message while the message is still in centralized Unity Connection server?
    (2) If option (1) is not possible, can we setup the message folder of IMAP client to a network shared drive such as H, M drive instead of default local drive?
    (3) Any other solution or workaround?
    Thanks,
    JJ

  • Unity Connection Restriction Table Recommendations / Template

Does anyone have example Unity Connection Restriction Tables they can share?
    TIA

It depends on what you need/want to allow and also the local dial plan.  For example, an outdial restriction might look like this:
    9011* - Blocked
    9?????????? - Allow
    91?????????? - Allow
    *  - Blocked
This would block International but allow local 10-digit and LD entries that require 9 as an offnet prefix.  All other entries would be blocked.
