Unity Connection 8.5(1) API SOAP AXL for Voicemail PIN Resets?

I'm trying to locate a URL to read up on the Unity Connection 8.5 APIs , I have a web developer who wants to write a in-house self service web page that allows users to reset a subscirbers own TUI voicemail PIN. He's a programmer, I am not, but I see references to the Unity SOAP AXL APIs that could be used for such.

You're looking for the Cisco Unity Connection Provisioning Interface (CUPI). They have a WADL and XML schema for the API posted which I understand to be useful to those programmers.
Specifically to what this customer wants, the DocWiki has a section on Changing Passwords through the CUPI.

  • Unity Connection - Certificate from cucm no more trusted for encrypted calls after upgrade to 10.5(1)

    Hello Support Community,
    i have a strange problem:
after upgrading my cucm and unity connection from 9.1 to 10.5(1) enctrypted calls are no more working.
situation 1: CUCM is down, Subscriber is up: Encrypted call to Unity Connection work correctly
situation 2: CUCM is up: Encrypted Calls to Unity Connection not working.
i get the following Info in the log for the Connection Conversion Manager:

    -----END CERTIFICATE-----
so where does Unity Connection cache this certificate and how can i delete/replace it?
the cert shown in the logs is the one from cucm: ("CallManager"), i recreated it through cucm os administration, now i see the same error message on unity connection for the new recreated certificate.

Actually It doesn't. It says he's on a MacBook. I don't know all the different types of Macs. I was having a ton of problems with iChat. I opened DMZ to my computer, knocked down all firewalls etc and left everything exposed, still with bad results. A few weeks ago my power supply went out on my D-Link. I bought a linksys. Since I'd left all firewalls off I figured it couldn't be the router. I power cycled everything n the netork, still no luck. Today I bought a universal Power supply and started up my D-Link Router. Everything worked perfectly. My wifes computer - a laptop running Tiger worked fine with the Linksys and did my machine before the Leopard upgrade. Now that I've got the D-Link online everythings working.

  • Unity Connection 8.5.1ES16.11900-16 upgrade for Single Inbox with Exchange 2007 ?

    Hello friends,
I'm currentely running Unity Connection 8.5.1ES16.11900-16.
I would like to use the single inbox feature with Exchange 2007.
It is in the documentation that we need at least Unity Connection 8.5(1) Service Update 1 (UCSInstall_UCOS_8.5.1.11900-21.sgn.iso).
I downloaded, checked MD5 but when searching on the FTP directory it won't accept it (No valid upgrade options were found). Is this a supported upgrade?
Same happens with the localization file in Portuguese that i need to install: uc-locale-pt_PT-8.5.1.1-16.cop.sng ...
Please can you give me some hints about what I may be doing wrong?
Thank you very much and warm regards,
    met

    Hi Met,
    Hope all is well
I think you are hitting this caveat. Although the numbers don't match exactly I'm
pretty sure you will need to wait for an 8.5.1.12xxx.x ES
If the Connection server is running an engineering special with a full Cisco Unified Communications
Operating System version number between 8.5.1.11001-x and 8.5.1.11899-x, do not upgrade the server
to Connection 8.5(1) SU 1 because the upgrade will fail. Instead, upgrade the server with an ES released
after 8.5(1) SU 1 that has a full Unified Communications OS version number of 8.5.1.12xxx.x or later
to get the SU 1 functionality.

  • Jabber for Windows and Unity Connection Voice mail out of sync

    Hello all,
Now that Jabber is pretty much part of every install you begin to notice some trends. One trend that I have noticed happening across several of customers is complaints about Jabber and the Voicemail server getting out of sync. It’s never really been a wide spread issue but it has be noticed by several of my customers enough so that I’m reaching out to see if others are experiencing the same problem. Here are the symptoms, a person sitting at their desk they have a physical phone, and a windows PC running Jabber 4 Windows. They miss a call and the MWI lamp gets lit on the phone but not on Jabber. When you click on HELP / Show Connection status, you see all green checks, and Voicemail shows connected from Jabbers standpoint. When you exit the application and come back in, then it sync’s back up just fine. I have never seen it happen myself, but to be honest I’m never at my desk enough to even notice if my phone lamp is lit.
Anyway has anyone had similar issues? If so is there a fix?

    Symptom:
User logged in Jabber and do not log-off/sign-out for more than 24 hours and then jabber does not receive new voicemails from Unity Connection. User will be able to receive voicemails from other interfaces like Outlook, TUI but voicemails will not show up in Jabber.
    Conditions:
User does not sign out from jabber for more than 24 hours since last log on.
    Workaround:
Sign out from jabber at-least once a day and sign-in back so that subscription will not expire in Unity Connection database.
Voicemail does not sync if Jabber left logged in for more than 24 hours

Can be fixed, depends on releases, TAC offered me a fix in version 10.5(1)ES29

  • Unity Connection 8.6.2 Forward vm to another email address

    Hey team!
I have employees that I want the ability to forward voicemails to an outside email address such as [email protected]
I do this currently for the users that I have NOT migrated from Unity to Unity connection.  The way i do it for Unity users is i create a dummy AD account that is the users 10 digit phone number.  On that dummy AD account I click on the exchange general tab then click delivery options.  I then set the forwarding address to something else such as [email protected]
I want to get away from creating these dummy AD accounts.
In Unity Connection is there a setting that will allow me to create a user in connection but set a relay of that voicemail to another email domain?
I have about 150 users that I would like to make this work for.
    Any insight is greatly appreaciated.

  • Issue on Cisco Unity Connection after performing 'utils ntp restart'

    Hello everybody.
There's a client with Cisco Unity Connection 8.5.1.10000-206. After doing a 'utils ntp restart', the following message showed up:
Communication is not functioning correctly between the servers in the Cisco Unity Connection cluster. To review server status for the cluster, go to the Tools > Cluster Management page of Cisco Unity Connection Serviceability.
The client states that there was no service for 5 minutes and wants to know if performing this task shoud be disruptive or not and if there is any official document from Cisco stating this.
See SrvConnUnity_1.jpg sent by the client after performing the ntp restart.
Right now the service is normal (see SrvConnUnity_2.jpg attached). The client also sent a 'utils ntp
    status':

    admin:
Could anybody help me with this? What steps should I take? Many thanks in advance.
    Best,
    Patricio

    Hello Patricio,
On the command line guide you won't see any downtime requirements for the Unity Connection server:
Command Line Interface Reference Guide for Cisco Unified Communications Solutions Release 8.5(1)
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/cli_ref/8_5_1/cli_ref_851.html
    Utils ntp restart
This command restarts the NTP service.
    Command syntax
    utils ntp restart
    Parameters
    None
    Requirements
    Command privilege level: 0
    Allowed during upgrade: Yes
Also on the caveats i do not see any particular mention for this: (Caveats could be found applicable to CUC)
Release Notes for Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 8.5(1)
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/8_5_1/cucm-rel_notes-851.html
Breaking up the output of the "utils ntp status"  there are are two considerations:
    admin:utils ntp status
    ntpd (pid 10899) is running...
remote           refid      st t when poll reach   delay   offset  jitter
    ==============================================================================
    *127.127.1.0     LOCAL(0)        10 l   16   64  377    0.000    0.000   0.002
First, you are using the ip address 127.127.1.0 which is the referenced used for the local system clock, the asterisc means is the preferred option as there is no other IP available. This is not a good practice and not recommended.
Secondly the stratum is unreliable, meaning too high to reach or too low to be accepted by Unity Connection.
If you would happen to run 'utils diagnose test' you would have probably seen an output as the following example below:
    admin:utils diagnose test
    Log file: platform/log/diag1.log
    Starting diagnostic test(s)
    ===========================
    test - disk_space          : Passed (available: 25680 MB, used: 7849 MB)
skip - disk_files          : This module must be run directly and off hours
    test - service_manager     : Passed
    test - tomcat              : Passed
    test - tomcat_deadlocks    : Passed
    test - tomcat_keystore     : Passed
    test - tomcat_connectors   : Passed
    test - tomcat_threads      : Passed
    test - tomcat_memory       : Passed
    test - tomcat_sessions     : Passed
test - validate_network    : Reverse DNS lookup missmatch
    test - raid                : Passed
test - system_info         : Passed (Collected system information in diagnostic log)
    test - ntp_reachability    : Passed
    test - ntp_clock_drift     : Passed
    test - ntp_stratum         : Failed
The reference NTP server is a stratum 11 clock.
NTP servers with stratum 5 or worse clocks are deemed unreliable.
Please consider using an NTP server with better stratum level.
Please use OS Admin GUI to add/delete NTP servers.
skip - sdl_fragmentation   : This module must be run directly and off hours
skip - sdi_fragmentation   : This module must be run directly and off hours
    test - ipv6_networking     : Passed
And on the RTMT (Real Time Monitoring Tool) you would have seen a Critical event:
    Condition:
The best external NTP server, , is stratum , which is unacceptably high. External NTP servers must be <= strata 8 and should be <= strata 5. NTP server strata can be verified using the CLI 'utils ntp status' command ('st' column). Try using different NTP servers.
    Problem cause:
All specified external NTP server(s) have unacceptably high stratum values. Network issues exist or the designated servers have unreliable stratum values.
Information is self explanatory and therefore reassures the need of having a NTP different from the server itself.
By the snippet you sent we can know that it is the publisher server, as the Subscriber polls this information from the Publisher.
Installing the Operating System and Cisco Unity Connection 8.x
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/installation/guide/8xcucig020.html
"Cisco recommends that you use an external NTP server to ensure accurate system time on the publisher server. Ensure the external NTP server is stratum 9 or higher (meaning stratums 1-9). The subscriber server will get its time from the publisher server"
Documentation also reaffirms the need for that NTP to be accessible otherwise your system can be degraded.  Some addtional information which would be interesting to know is:
    - Why did they had to restart the NTP in the first place?
System Requirements for Cisco Unity Connection Release 8.x
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/requirements/8xcucsysreqs.html
"A network time protocol (NTP) server must be accessible to the Connection server"
On the Cisco Unity Connection Serviceability> Tools> CLuster Management screen shot you sent i see that the ports were "Not Available" and that the customer stated "there was no service for 5 minutes".
By no service did they mean that over the phone they heard a disconnected tone or a failsafe message?
Additionaly after the servers resolved from SBR the Subscriber never recovered entirely as it did not start the Conversation Manager service.
Bottom line if they are able to reproduce it then it would be worth a while checking with TAC

  • Setting up Directory Handlers under Cisco Unity Connection

    Good Day All,
I am in the process of setting up directory handlers for Cisco Unity connection.
When I dial the extension for the directory handler ;  I hear the default Cisco Unity connection greeting instead of being prompted for the search.
Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks very much
    Regards
    Amanda

    Hi javalenc,
Of course ,  that was right.  I worked it out in the end.
I was trying to copy the configuration from an older version of CUC and basically added an un-needed call forwarding rule under the Directory Handler.  As soon as I removed it; the directory worked normally.
The other thing I learned last weekend was that the order of the routing rules is important.
My directory had the first priority and it was causing people who wanted to leave a voicemail for other users to get the prompts for the directory.
Thanks so much for the help though.
    Regards,
    Amanda Lalli-Cafini

  • Queing in Unity connection 8.6

We are Using Unity connection 8.6, Configured a Auto attendant for DID number I need to do calls in queuing is it possible to configure queing in CUC 8.6?

    Hi,
Please check the Call handler section of Unity Connection 8.x admin guide
With call holding, when the phone is busy, Unity Connection can ask callers to hold. Each caller on hold uses a Unity Connection port and a phone system port, and therefore the total number of callers that can be holding in the queue at any one time is limited by the number of available ports.

  • Cisco Unity Connect 8.6 smarthost

    Hi Guys,
I am in the process of deploying the Cisco Unity Connect 8.6 on the virtual environment. I was able to configure the smtp configuration smarthost with our exchange server. And the test user is able to receive the voicemail via the phone and the email. My question is, since we are going to outsource our email to Gmail in a couple months. Currently I am using the "Accept and Relay the Message" under Message Action for the User and the "Reply Address as [email protected]".  I would like to know if there is a way to configure the smarthost as gmail, if so what will be the smarthost for gmail? Has anyone has this scenrio setup before? Please let me know. Thanks in Advance.
    Hakach

    Hakach,
Google's SMTP relay server is smtp.google.com. However, I don't think this will work with Unity Connection. Google forces authentication and TLS encryption. As far as I know the Unity Connection won't support these pre-requisites for smarthost configurations.
Maybe you can consider keeping a basic relay server on prem and have Unity Connection relay through this server to Google. Of course the 3rd party solution should support the pre-reqs defined by Google.
    HTH.

    Bill

  • Unity Connection Office 365 Single Inbox - 100 Users Limitation

    Hi all,
Goiing over the Unity Connection release notes:
Cisco Unity Connection 8.6(2) Support for Microsoft Office 365
    Revised 13 April, 2012
In Cisco Unity Connection 8.6(2) and later, you can configure Connection to synchronize voice messages in Connection user's mailbox with the user's Exchange Online mailbox configured on Microsoft Office 365 environment. Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud hosted collaboration solution provided by Microsoft.
Cisco Unity Connection 8.6(2) SU1 is qualified for 100 users with Microsoft Office 365. For scalability beyond 100 users, you need to contact UCBU Product Management team through [email protected] mailer.
Note The integration beyond 100 users will not be supported by TAC until the BU has signed off on it.
I was aware of the 19 users per Unified Messaging account issue, in which we created several UM Service accounts as a temporary fix until Microsoft lifts the limitation.  I wasn't aware of the above that there is a limitation to 100 Users total.
There has been a few posts regarding the 19 user/account issue in which the workaround has been to create up to 20 UM accounts to get up to 380 users as a temporary solution.
Any insight as to when this will be lifted or detailed timelines would be great!
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hey Chris,
I wouldn't go that route as you nicely noted. The specific locales for su2 are not shown
and I'm pretty confident that this bug would carry over to su2 as well
But then again....I could be way off base here
CSCty54979 - 8.6.x release notes should detail what builds are required for locales
    Symptom:
Release notes for Unity Connection 8.6(2a) and  8.6(2a)SU1 are not clear about what builds the use of locales  (localizations) are supported with and where they can be acquired
    Conditions:
Customers wishing to support non-US English (ENU) languages with Unity Connect 8.6.x
    Workaround:
For  Unity Connection 8.6(2a), you must install ES12 and use the locale  files that are labeled as ES12. The locale files are posted on cisco.com  for download, but Unity Connection ES12 is not (you will need to open a  TAC case and request a copy of 8.6(2)ES12)
For Unity Connection  8.6(2a)SU1, the 8.6(2)ES12 locales should NOT be used. An updated set of  locales will be posted for use with this build in the near future  (expected by roughly mid to late April 2012). Also note that if you are  currently using the 8.6(2)ES12 locales, you should NOT upgrade to SU1  until the SU1 locales are posted to cisco.com so that you can use them.
If su2 is equivalent to ES44 then they aren't shown on this doc either??

  • Hardware checks performed during an Unity Connection upgrade ?

I have Unity Connection 8.0.3 running on an old HP server. (Identified as a  HP 7845H2 2333 during the install)
I tried a clean install of Unity Connection 8.6.1 on an identical server. The install failed with the server hardware failing to be recognised.
This is despite the server hardware meeting the requirements of the Unity Connection hardware compatibility check list.
If I try to upgrade the Unity Connection 8.0.3 system to 8.5, will the install program run a compatibility check before loading / upgrading ?
The last thing I want is to successfully install 8.5 but have the system crash when I try to boot the new version.
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Andy -
Your server may have been on the compatible hardware list but could require additional hardware - see these specs -
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/supported_platforms/8xcucspl.html#wp771057
Unity Connection 8.6 requires 6Gig RAM and 4-146 Gig hard drives for the 7845 servers.  Yes the install program does a compatibility check - if the install does not see the "correct" configuration, it does not show Unity Connection as one of the applications available for install.  I would recommend moving to 8.6 if you can, or if you decide on 8.5, refer to Bug Search (Bug Toolkit) and review the caveats.  I recently had to applu ES55 to CUC 8.5 service release 2 to fix ViewMail forwarding voice messages from Outlook.  If you are planning to install Cisco UCS or an HP/IBM provided virtualized environment as an option, definitely check out 8.6 - it will save you from having to do a refresh upgrade from 8.5 - 8.6!
    Sincerely,
    Ginger

  • Unity Connection transferring calls to CUCM

I have posted here before, continuing my learning in my lab.
CUCM 9 and CUC 9.  4 IP Phones registered and all have mailboxes.  I have a System Call Handler configured to answer calls coming from a CTI Route Point.
I have been playing with a scenario trying to learn all the capabilities of the various call handlers.
Im currently trying to allow the caller to transfer to a phone number that is registered in CUCM - but does NOT have a mailbox.
    My CUC Configuration
         Call Handler Basics
Callers Hear -> My Personal Recording
During Greeting -> Allow Transfers to Numbers Not Associate with Users or Call Handlers
After Greeting -> Conversation -> Caller System Transfer
         System Settings -> Restriction Tables
              Default Transfer
I added a new entry and specifically entered the DN that I was trying to transfer to (123)
I unchecked the "blocked" for all entries
Call Management -> Call Routing -> Forwarded Routing Rules
Attempt Forward Routing Rule -> Send Call to -> Conversation -> Attempt Forward
From an IP Phone, I dial the CTI RP and get forwarded to the main / opening call handler.  I traverse a couple of menu tree levels to get to my call handler where I am attempting to transfer back to CUCM.  I hear my recorded personal greeting instructing me to enter my number.  Whether I wait for the recording to end or whether I enter the digits during the greeting, the results are the same.  The result is that nothing happens.  No recorded message telling me that I cant be transferred to that number - nothing at all.  The call just terminates.
I started up Connection Remote Port Status monitor and I can watch the sequence of the call.  When I enter the digits of the target phone (123), I see in the Remote Port Status Monitor that it sees and receives the DTMF digits, but then nothing happens.
I next tested by adding a test user in CUC with the same DN of 123.  As soon as I did that, I repeated the attempted call and when I dialed "123", I get the recorded message "Wait while I transfer that call" and then the call completes successfully.
This is my home lab so I can make any changes that you suggest with no user implications.
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
That is weird! It is still shown in this 9.x doc
Overview of Default Restriction Tables in Cisco Unity
    Connection 9.x
    Default Fax
    Restricts numbers for fax delivery.
    Default Outdial
    Restricts numbers for message notifications
    Default System Transfer
Restricts numbers that can be used for
    Caller system transfers, which allow
unidentified callers to transfer to a
number that they specify. For example,
callers may want to dial a lobby or conference room phone that is not
associated with a Connection user. By default, the table does not allow
    Connection to dial any numbers.
    Default Transfer
    Restricts numbers for call transfers.

  • Unity Connection 8.6 compatibility with CUCM

    Hi,
I am upgrading Unity Version 8.0.3 to 8.6, my current CUCM version is 8.0.2. According to following link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/unified/communications/system/versions/IPTMtrix.html#wp1016708
I will need to upgrade CUCM to 8.6 also, please confirm if this is the case, also can I upgrade to any CUCM 8.6 version available ?
    thanks
    hasrat

    Hi Hasrat,
That doc just refers to the "tested" version but in fact any Unity Connection
version 2.1 or later will work with any CUCM version 4.1(3)or later
So you really don't need to upgrade CUCM at this time if you don't want.

  • Unity Connection Licensing

We have been looking to upgrade from unity express to unity connection. Is there a part number for licensing regarding unity connection? I've searched the admin guide but can't find it.
All we need is licensing for 297 mailboxes.
    Thanks
    -Darnell

Assuming you have UCSS coverage you can actually place a PUT order to upgrade directly to Unity Connection with the same license entitlements. Just make sure that the specific MCS server you ordered is compatible (most Unity servers are).

  • Syslog For Unity Connection

    Hi All,
Is it possible to enable syslog for helpdesk administrator user id in unity connection?  If yes, will it capture all the activity who is doing what in unity (all activity including voicemail Pin reset with extn details).
Please help me here to close the security team concern for this.
    Thanks in advance !!!!

    Hello,
The feature your looking for is called 'Audit Logs' have a look at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/service/8_5_1/admin/saaulog.html
Here is a very cut down list of logged Unity Connection events.
    Command-Line Interface
All commands issued via the command-line interface are logged
    Cisco Unity Connection
Cisco Unity Connection Administration logs the following events:
•User logging (user logins and user logouts).
•All configuration changes, including but not limited to users, contacts, call management objects, networking, system settings, and telephony.
•Task management (enabling or disabling a task).
•Bulk Administration Tool (bulk creates, bulk deletes).
         •Custom Keypad Map (map updates)
Cisco Personal Communications Assistant (Cisco PCA)
The Cisco Personal Communications Assistant client logs the following events:
•User logging (user logins and user logouts).
•All configuration changes made via the Messaging Assistant.
The one issue is that I am not aware of being able to send these files to an external syslog sever, they are only written to the servers own log files. Maybe somebody else can add further assistance.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig
