Unity Connection 8.5.1 Unable to store message

Hi,
We're running a Unity Connection 8.5.1 cluster and have installed 3 extra languages (Dutch,French and German).
When a call gets to Unity and the settings of the user are such that unity answers with the system default language (English), the message can be stored.
But when the user is setup to answer the caller in any of the added languages, the messages cannot be stored.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jeroen

Incorrect locale version cause VM outage
Symptom:Unity connection 8.5.1 installed with locales may experience the following issues1.When users try to leave message ,they get the fail safe message
2.Sometimes they are able to leave message , message doesnt get delivered
Conditions:When Locale version ES 24 is installed on UC 8.5(1) [ ES 16] or less
Workaround:please downgrade the locale version to ES 16  or use US English language
Locale ES 24 is meant only for UC 8.5(1)ES17 or later.Though the Release notes of 8.5(1
http://www.cisco.com/web/software/282074314/49311/851su1cucrm.pdfclearly mentions about the compatibility , Many customers think its good for them to install the latest locale ES and hence end with this condition. This defect is just to track the issue and may be we can add a warning in the locale download page in CCO

  • Unity Connection 8.5 Accessing and Purging user messages as admin

Is there a way as an admin I can purge a users saved voicemail messages in Unity Connection 8.5 without deleting their entire account and recreating it?
Also is there a way using an admin account I can access a users mailbox and export messages to individual files (.wav, etc.)for storage/playback/evidence purposes?
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
I'll just add another reference to the great info from Jonathan (+5 "J")
The best way with Unity Connection to delete VM's is with the use of this excellent tool from
    the great suite of Unity Tools (** "reset" feature);
    Unity Connection Bulk User Delete
For resetting users you have the option of emptying the mailbox,  resetting greetings, deleting voice names, resetting passwords,  removing private lists and a number of other options you may choose.   For installations where the user base “changes over” frequently such as  schools this may be a nicer option.  This option is also allowed for  CoRes installations since it does not involve the removal of user  objects from the Connection database.

  • Frequent "connection" issues, as prompted by iTunes Store message

This appears when iTunes tries to connect to the store, for updates, purchases, or other basic connection attempts.
I have been experiencing these problems perhaps since the OS X upgrade to Lion. I have already reinstalled Lion 3 times and diminished most of the problems I had. This one hasn't. Any advice?
Just for other symptoms I haven't solved. My computer still frequently stalls while shutting it down or restart attempts. It requires me to hold the "power" button until it successfully shuts down.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Uday,
    The Cluster in Unity Connection acts differently than a CUCM cluster, so the answers to your question are;
    Yes & Yes
How a Cluster Works in Cisco Unity Connection
    Revised May 2009
The Cisco Unity Connection cluster feature provides high availability  voice messaging through two Connection servers that are configured in a  cluster. Under normal conditions, the Connection servers are both active  so that:
•The cluster can be assigned a DNS name that is shared by the Connection servers.
•Clients  such as email applications and the web tools available through the  Cisco Personal Communications Assistant (PCA) can connect to either  Connection server.
•Phone systems can send calls to either Connection server.
•Incoming  phone traffic load is balanced between the Connection servers by the  phone system, PIMG/TIMG units, or other gateways that are required for  the phone system integration.
Each server in the cluster is responsible for handling a share of the  incoming calls for the cluster (answering phone calls and taking  messages). The server with Primary status is responsible for the  following functions:
•Homing and publishing the database and message store, which are both replicated to the other server.
•Sending message notifications and MWI requests (the Connection Notifier service is activated).
•Sending SMTP notifications and VPIM messages (the Connection Message Transfer Agent service is activated).
When one of the servers stops functioning (for example, when it is shut  down for maintenance), the remaining server assumes responsibility for  handling all incoming calls for the cluster. The remaining server also  assumes responsibility for the database and message store, which are  both replicated to the other server when the connection and its  functionality are restored.
When the server that stopped functioning is able to resume its normal  functions and is activated, it resumes responsibility for handling its  share of incoming calls for the cluster.
To monitor the status of the servers, the Connection Server Role Manager  service runs in Cisco Unity Connection Serviceability on both servers.  This service performs the following functions:
•Starts the applicable services on each server, depending on server status.
•Determines  whether critical processes (such as voice message processing, database  replication, and message store replication) are functioning normally.
•Initiates  changes to server status when the server with Primary status is not  functioning or when critical services are not running.
Note the following limitations when the publisher server is not functioning:
•If  the Connection cluster is integrated with an LDAP directory, directory  synchronization does not occur, although authentication continues to  work when only the subscriber server is functioning. When the publisher  server is functioning again, directory synchronization resumes.
•If  a Digital Network includes the Connection cluster, directory updates do  not occur, although messages continue to be sent to and from the  cluster when only the subscriber server is functioning. When the  publisher server is functioning again, directory updates resume.
    About the Publisher Server
The first Cisco Unity Connection server that is configured in the  cluster is the publisher server. The Cluster Management page in  Cisco Unity Connection Serviceability identifies the publisher server.
The publisher server assumes responsibility for publishing the database  and message store when the cluster is functioning normally.
When the publisher server does not have Primary status (for example,  when the administrator manually changes the status of the other server  to Primary, which automatically changes the status of the publisher  server to Secondary), the other server assumes responsibility for  publishing the database and message store.
The publisher server cannot be removed from the cluster.

  • Unity Connection 8.5 mailbox quotas

I configured mailbox quotas for user mailbox
    Send/receive quota is 3 Mgb
    Send Quota is 2 Mgb
    Warning Quota is 1 Mgb
User mailbox is already 3.5 Mgb
HOwever, when i  call this user from internal or external number - i still can leave a mesage for this user ( i expected system DOES NOT ALLOW to leave any new mesage for this user because his voicemail box is already exceeds Send/receive quota which is  3 Mgb )
Checkbox for option "Full Mailbox Check for Outside Caller Messages"is already checked in
What is wrong in this config ?

Here is how send/receive quotas impact things:
Quota Handling for Outside Caller Messages
By default, if an outside caller attempts to send a message to a user whose send/receive quota has been exceeded, Cisco Unity Connection allows the caller to record a message for the recipient. This can be changed by checking the Full Mailbox Check for Outside Caller Messages check box on the System Settings > Advanced > Conversation page.
If the recipient mailbox has not yet exceeded the send/receive quota at the time an outside caller records a message, but the quota is exceeded in the act of delivering the message, Connection delivers the message regardless of the quota or the setting of the Full Mailbox Check for Outside Caller Messages check box.
    Quota Handling for User-to-User Messages
If a user whose voice mailbox has exceeded the send quota signs in to Connection and attempts to send a message to another user, Connection indicates that the send quota has been exceeded, and does not allow the sender to record the message. If the user calls another user and is forwarded to a voice mailbox, the user is able to leave a message, but the message is sent as an outside caller message.
If a user attempts to send a message to another user whose mailbox has exceeded the send/receive quota, or if the quota is exceeded in the act of delivering the message, Connection sends a nondelivery receipt to the message sender.
Connection delivers read receipts and nondelivery receipts to users regardless of whether their quotas have been exceeded.

  • Unity connection users

I am using unity connection 7.x and would like to create a role in which a group of helpdesk users can do std end users configuration changes. Roles in unity connection are view only. How can a new role with customized option be created?

    Hi there,
At this time there is no way to setup a new "customised" Role with Unity
    Connection

    It sounds like the "User Administrator" Role might suit your needs here;
This role allows an administrator to manage user accounts, access all user administration functions, run user-related reports, and use user administration tools.

  • Moved users to new message store Unity Connection

We recently moved users to a new messwage store on exchange. These users can no longer receive their voice mail in outlook. Everyone else can. What is the issue here?
    Unity Connection
    8.5.1.10000-206
    Exchange 2003

You may need to check the Unified Messaging profile setup in Unity to ensure it still has access into the new store.  In 2003, it uses WebDav, so if the account you are using is not setup to use WebDav on the new store, Unity can not deliver nor retrive information from this new store.  Also note, there is some sort of odd requirement with Microsoft and WebDav.. the account that uses WebDav must have a mailbox setup and at least one message sent and received to it.   (Or just logged into at least once for it to be active).  I have no idea why, but its documented at MS and seemed to fix a problem for me during a prior install with CUC and 2003 Exchange

  • Unity Connection 8.6 Mailbox Store Issue

    Hi,
I am seeing an alert in Unity Connection Mailbox Stores that" This mailbox store is at or over 90% of its capacity ".
Also i have set the  Aging Policies, but still no results. Anyways to reduce the size by deleting any other unwanted files.
    Pls suggest.

    Hello Jagadish,
In regards to this warning message you can also reference:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2241790
If your aging policy is "not working" it may be due to the fact it is not working retroactive, meaning that it is not purging old messages.
For best practices it would be best to create another Mailbox Store rather than increasing the size of the current one due to the fact that backups might fail due to the size.
    Best regards,
    David Rojas Peck.

  • Unable to access Unity Connection Operator Mailbox via TUI

    Hello,

  • Unity Connections 7.x Unable to route to Contacts from Call Handler

    Unity Connection 7.x.  CallManager 7.x.
My desired goal is to route from an AutoAttendant CallHandler to CallManager users that do not have VoiceMail boxes.  I have created a contact with the following:
    alias: myuser
    first: my
    last: user
    display: my user
    voice name: recorded
    list in directory: yes
    transfer enabled: yes
    transfer extension: 1234
When dialing AA and pressing # to get the the directory and doing dial-by-name, I am able to route.  When dialing the extension number during the greeting, I receive the following:
"I did not recognise that as a valid entry"
When selecting "Allow Transfers to Numbers Not Associated with Users or Call Handlers" from within the AA Handler and then dialing by extension, I receive the following:
"You cannot be transferred to this number"
Is there a way to dial the extension number to get to the user's device?
    Regards...

    Hi Phil Denton,
You are indeed going on the right track with the
"Allow Transfers to Numbers Not Associated with Users or Call Handlers"
What you're missing is the restriction table which by default doesn't allow any patterns to be dialed.
So in the System Settings go to the Restriction Tables and select the "Default System Transfer", and add a pattern that matches your internal extension or just that specific one.
Now this will permit dialing by extension to those specific patterns, one last thing you should verify is that the CSS assigned to your voicemail ports in UCM has the proper partitions to dial those extension.

  • Unity Connection integration with Outlook problem.

    Hello,
We deploy CUC 7.1 and we integrate it with MS exchange 2007 and outlook, and we perform the recommended configuration to make the voice mail message to be appeared in both Unity connection voice mail store and to be sent to exchange then appeared in outlook as inbox message, we perform that by choosing Accept and Rely option in Message actions tab.
The customer want when the message accessed from the outlook the MWI on turned to MWI off!!!!!
    How can i perform that?
    Thanks

    Hi Ahmed,
What you are wanting is not available with CUC 7.x "Accept and Relay"
In Cisco Unity Connection 7.1, you can use the accept and relay action to instruct Connection to both deliver each message of a certain type to the user mailbox and forward a copy of the message to the relay address. (This is sometimes referred to as "accept and forward.") This option may be useful for users who regularly use a device that accesses a separate server for messages, such as a handheld wireless device, and want easy access to voice messages both on the alternative device and through the Connection user interfaces. If you choose this option, the user receives two copies of each message. The copies are stored in different message stores, and any actions the user takes on the relayed copy are not reflected on the copy stored in the Connection message store.

    You will want to look into CUC 8.5;
New Features for Cisco Unity Connection Version 8.5
    • Unified messaging with Microsoft Exchange 2010:
    • Voice messages are synchronized with the Exchange inbox.
    • MWI and message status are synchronized.
    • Secure, private messages, mobile client, and calendar integration for Exchange 2010 are all supported.
    • You can enable unified messaging for specific users or all users.
