Unity Connection 8.5 with Domino\Notes & Active Directory

A question has emerged in light of the LDAP integration issue Unity Connection lacks with the IBM Domino LDAP Database.  The customer was planning on testing a 2008 AD Domain this coming year and would be willing to set up 2008 DC’s in two locations to support the HA configuration we are installing for them.
The question “will they lose any integration  / features / usability if they pursue this approach?  IE:  the CUCM / CUCXN / CUPS servers would leverage the AD LDAP directory for user authentication, but the end user would still be using the Domino LDAP directory for the Lotus NOTES client and other applications.  IF the users on CUCM authenticate against the AD Domain, and the Notes clients Authenticate against the Domino domain, will the plug-ins still function properly?
I no NOTES/Domino experience.  Additionally the customer currently has no domain structure to speak of; all workstations are in (if you can believe it) Workgroups.
Thanks All,
Matt

to keep things moving...
This is an answer I got from a Cisco SE:
"If they are not doing anything with CUP’s then I don’t see an issue. They don’t even need to use a Unity Connection plug-in since they are using IMAP. They can double click on the .wav file that’s in their IMAP inbox and it will play.  Now the real question is if they want to do more integration with Notes and CUPC. So if they want to click to call from Notes, will the Jabber application recognize a name pulled in from domino? These types of scenarios is what we would need to figure out. Hopefully by that time they will have everything moved over to AD.  For just voicemail with an IMAP connection I don’t see how we are doing anything special."
That being said, does anyone else have any input?

macbook air runs hot and makes noise like processor running hard when connected to display - even when not actively using air book

You could use the free tool iStat Pro to see what changes when you connect your MBA to the display. Without doing anything the CPU pane should show a high percentage for "Idle". If the idle value is too low, launch the Activity Monitor and sort by CPU usage. There is a pane showing the different temperatures of your computer. Watch them for a few minutes after connecting the display.

  • Cisco Unity Connection Single inbox with Exchange 2010

I have a new installation of Unity Connection 8.6.2 using single inbox with an Exchange 2010 cluster frontended by a Netscaler load balancer.Functionality that does not work is when a new message comes into outlook and the message is read or deleted it does not update the status on the phone- IE turn off the MWI or if the message is deleted it is still a new message in Unity. If you click reset in the user unified message account, the status gets updated.
TAC says its a blocked port on Exchange TCP 7080 but that is open.

      I followed this document :

but when i try to integrate CUC with exchange 2010 , i didn't find is clear enough

  • How can you delopy NIDaq 8.3 with Windows 200x Active Directory.

We are developing our own in-house measurement application that is built with LV 8.2.  It requires NI Daq 8.3 to be installed as well.  I need to deploy this to anywhere from 30-60 computers now and many more as we expand in the future.
I know I probably could use the Setup.exe with some switches for a silent install however the two problems are:
I have to write a script for each computer or go to each computer.
Future compters will need to be manually touched as well.
We may need to uninstall in the future for newer deployments and that cannot be done easily with this method while in AD I just have to click a few things and then it is deployed.
I currently deploy apps like Office, Solidworks, Acrobat Reader, and a whole host of others with Active Directory by just adding the MSI file for these apps to the AD Container's Group Policy.  I see on the NI Daq CD there are tons of subfolders and most have their own MSI file.  I have attempted to see if I could just deploy these in order by just attaching these MSI files to the Group Policy, but AD tells me that "none" of these MSI files I have tried so far are valid MSI files because they have no deployment info in them.

    Hello Jordan,
If I understand you correctly, you are trying to push the installation of the DAQmx driver as well as your LabVIEW application out to several machines from a server. Ideally you do not want to take your installer do each machine individually, and you also would not want to have to write a script.
Unfortunately your options may be limited to the features provided by your IT tools. You mentioned that you are using Active Directory to push out other software packages using their msi files. While I am not familiar with this particular software, is there any other way to install software remotely using this tool? Basically, I am looking for another method by which you can configure this tool to run the Setup.exe silently on computers of your choice. It may be worth your time to look into the documentation of this tool to determine if this is at all possible. Please post back and let us know what you are able to find out. Thanks!

  • MBAM bitlocker-protected removable drives recovery keys saved on sql database not active directory

    Hi Guys
I need help in saving bitlocker protected removable drives on the sql database instead of active directory .
I have tried to play around with the policy and I am not winning , currently my GPO : Choose how bitlocker-protected removable drives can be recovered has only the allow data recovery agent chosen and I have left out all the AD DS option unticked
Please point me in the right direction on how to achieve this , I want all my keys in a SQL database so the users can recover the keys themselves using the mbam helpdesk website

Under client management, define your endpoint URLs. You can see the help and the description section for that particular policy. Copy and paste the URL removing the port number and replace the name of the Server with that of your MBAM Web server.
Also, Disable or don't configure the policy "Choose how bitlocker protected removable Drives can
    be recovered".
This will save your recovery keys to the MBAM DBs.

  • Cannot connect MacOS X server to an Active Directory

    Hello,
My XServe Intel, running OS X Server 10.4.9, cannot connect to our Active Directory. Phase 1 to 4 seems ok but the 5th never ends. I have to force Directory Access to quit and then reboot because Admin Server doesn't respond too. I tried 3 times.
It works well with a MacOS X server running on a G5 or with a MacOS X client.
The XServe is connected to the network using the 2 Ethernet ports agregation.
It was a problem launching OpenDirectory under 10.4.8 but 10.4.9 solve this issue.
Could there be the same problem on 10.4.9 with an AD connection through a dual gigabit Ethernet Link ?
    Thank you for your help...
    Pat

The solution for anyone who has the same problem.
Return to standalone server, erase the "DirectoryService" folder and the "edu.mit.kerberos" in Library/Preferences and the "krb5.keytab" file in /etc, then reboot.
Connecting to the AD works in Directory Access.
Configure as "OpenDirectory Master" again in Admin Server.
AD's users are now visible in the Workgroup Manager and could be nested into OpenDirectory groups to give them specific rights on the shares.

  • How to work with oracle and active directory...

    Hi,
Can somebody let me know how do i configure active directory with oracle 10g?
I am trying to do this using configuration wizard but fields are grayed out for me to proceed. It also shows me to prepare active directory to work with oracle first.
    How do i do that?
Can someone let me know the steps to do so?
    Regards
    Vikas

Depends on what you want to achieve?
Usually when you want Enterprise Users (users that are managed by a directory instead of a schema) you will perform other steps than in a scenario where you need some attributes from the AD.

  • Working with XServe in Active Directory Domain

I'm starting to lose my mind. Is anyone else working with an XServe in a strictly Active Directory domain? Im essentially using it as an FTP and SMB file server. All sorts of weird stuff happens out of the blue like, all of a sudden today I can no longer log in to the Local Admin account no matter what I do (I've reset the password, tried logging in automatically). Root account no longer lets me in...the only way I can get in is to log in as a Domain admin YET, if I log into the server through Workgroup Manager or Server Admin with the credentials for Local Admin, I get in just fine. What gives? It feels like there's major permissions screwiness going on...
And earlier, file sharing permissions just weren't working no matter what permissions I gave to who. It is driving me nuts.
Anyway, if anyone has ANY wisdom to impart re: using XServe to manage files, FTP, etc... in Active Directory I would love to hear it: tips, stories, experiences, resources, how to's etc...
    Thanks

This area is more for the XServe hardware, you need to post in the Mac OS X Server software section, as the OS can run on more than just hardware, hence the software category.

  • Problems with OSX ja Active Directory (urgent!)

Hello, I'm newbie Mac user and I have a problem with integrating OSX to our company MS Active Directory. This MacBook Pro is a only Apple here, so this is quite difficult...
So far I have made following things:
    - I made "Bind" succesfull (it pings from others computers and I can see it from AD tools)
    - to AD account I changed my profile to include home folder (\\Adserver\user.account$). When I log on to AD via PC, home folders etc. are done with Logon script (Logon.bat) and I can see those shared folder fine.
    - then I rebooted my Mac and on logon screen there is option Other --> there I input my AD username and password. After that OSX log in normally.
    - But on Dock there is no Home folder, there is only a big question mark (?) and it says "User X X network home folder" (or something like that). And there is nothing behind this ?-mark
    - I have checked from Gerberos that I have a valid ticket to AD-server
I have also tried to map network folder (apple + K), but there will error message that "Server couldn't reach, because user name or password is wrong"
I have spend a couple of days to solve this problem, but nothing seems to solve it. Could someone please help me? I really need those shared folders (yes, there are at leat two I need from AD), because on those folder are documents that I need daily at my work.
    thanks,
    -zooropa
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

My admin username of Mac is "firstnamesurname" and AD account is "firtsname.surname". So the "dot" is only difference. Is that enough?
I made binding with Mac admin account and after that I used "other" on login screen of OSX. As I wrote, I can login fine with AD username and password, but the problem is that I can't map home folders from Windows Server 2003.

  • Unity ver7.0 delay with Domino on confirmation of message delivery

I not getting much help on a current case that I have open.  When I create a message in my box and depress # to send it, there is a delay from unity telling me that the message has been sent.  The Unity servers (primary and failover) and the domino server are all in the same location (building).  So, I'm find it difficult to believe that this is a network issue.  Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?  Keep in mind, this is a domino message store.

    Hi,
I am not a unity express specialist, but I ran into a similar problem last year when trying to install a Spanish language pack on top of a UK language pack on an older version of Unity express. I just decided to do a clean install from scratch in the end...my customer not being bothered about losing their settings and recording and reconfiguring...don't know if this is an option for you!

  • Unity Connection 8.5 dialing extensions not working

I am having the oddest issue.  When I did the annual shuffle of the users this year before school started some of the extensions seemed to have gotten stuck.  I deleted one user with the extension 2704.  I associated that extension to another user's voicemail.  But when you call our main number and the call handler picks up you get an error when you enter that extension.  In another situation when the call handler picks up if I dial 3202 it routes to 3207.  I am not sure where to even start looking.

    Melissa,
OK ....just thought it might be an 8.5 bug.
Let's just look at one at a time. For 2704 let's say the user is earl elk. When you went
to make the change you searched CUC for 2712 brought up the user page > edit user basics
and changed the extension from 2712 to 2704 and saved with no errors?
After your test a few minutes ago did you move earl back to 2704? If so, can you try calling in
and entering 2712 just for kicks. If it routes to the proper place it could be a replication issue.
    Cheers!
    Rob
PS: I know we were only going to deal with one but was the person who used to be @ 3207
changed to 3202 by any chance?

  • Slow log on with Windows XP / Active directory

    Hi
I have been trying to work out what is causing my computers to take a long time to log on. The computers are Windows XP and take roughly a 1minute to log on(at worse).
I have turned on  userenv debugging and reviewed the files. I think the problem may be related to DNS but not 100% sure.

    Hi
IT is taking 5 mins after Userinit process. There might be issue with that also.
Userinit isresponsible for reconnecting network drives, running logon scripts, etc. I would guess that something of that nature is actually causing the delay. Isolate the user/computer account in an OU with block inheritance set and see if the issue continues.
Also, do you have any logon scripts or mapped drives set on the user account? If so, you may want to remove those and see if that helps the issue. If so you may have a problem with slow network connectivity.
