Unity Connection 8.x and Novell GroupWise IMAP client.

Hi,
Unity Connection 8.x clusters, the customer is using Novell Groupwise for email message store. We would like to setup GroupWise IMAP for them.
However one of the customer's restrictions is that they locked down the end-users computers so that Unity Connection message can not be downloaded into end-user's local PC.
I understand that on Unity Connection COS we can setup the option end-user can only access message header, but they have to dial-in the main-pilot number to retrieve message or use web-inbox tool.
(1) Is there any way for us to setup the IMAP, so that end-user retrieve message while the message is still in centralized Unity Connection server?
(2) If option (1) is not possible, can we setup the message folder of IMAP client to a network shared drive such as H, M drive instead of default local drive?
(3) Any other solution or workaround?
Thanks,
JJ

  • Single Inbox Issue with Unity Connection 8.5 and Exchange 2003

    Hello Unity Gurus,
I recently upgraded our Unity server to Unity Conenction 8.5. We are pressing hard to have unified messaging. However theres always problems it seems.
We have several 2003 exchange servers, two of the exchange servers split up our organization and one has half of the users mailboxes and the other server has the remaining half. So far the only way that I can get Unified messaging is if I create two separate Unified Messaging Services one for one half, the other for the other half.
This becomes a problem since now when I create the Unified Message account I have to know what server the user is on and the problem being is that I have 700 voicemail users ill have to look up. Not only that but, if our employees move from one site to the next and if the mailbox gets moved then I imagine most likely break unified messaging for that account.
I've read the install guide for Unity connection Unified Messaging and I understand that the second option is to have Connection to search for Exchange servers via Active Directory however, when I set that up and test it via unified messaging services I get an error " searching network...failed to locate domain controller via DNS. Failed to locate an exchange 2003 server."
DNS seems to work if I create single Unified Messaging Service and use the host name that way.
Anyone have any thoughts or found a work around to this issue?
    Thanks,
    Dan

We have 41 exchange UM services configured in Unity Connection on 10 clusters, each one to the 2003 exchange servers.  This is the only way it will work for us, as e2k3 can not search for and find other exchange services.  For 2010, it is able to search by AD domain and site name, and we only have one connector configured on each server to the e2k10 environment.  I believe this is the way it works, and is difficult to manage but works.  Just my two cents.

  • Single Inbox on Unity Connection 8.5 and Exchange 2003 SP2

    Hi,
We have Unity Connection 8.5 (with SU2) and Exchange 2003 SP2
We want to setup the Single Inbox feature that works well with Exchange 2007 and 2010, but my customer is running Exchange 2003 SP2.
We met all of the requirements outlined in: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/requirements/8xcucsysreqs.html#wp459928
I configure a new "Unified Messaging Services" profile for Exchange using Exchange 2003 and enabled for Single Inbox.  When I run "Test" it displays the following errors (other validation is successfully)
The service port for IMAP is not functioning.
The system failed to connect to the server with a socket connection through port beatles.clubone.com:993. The error is error:0200206F:system library:connect:Connection refused. Refer to the tomcat log file for more details. If you are using secure connection, confirm that SSL is enabled on the server.
Why is it trying to connect using IMAP, that wasn't the case when I used for Exchange 2007 or 2010 when IMAP was not enabled.
Is there something else I'm missing for configuration with Unity Connection to support Single Inbox with Exchange 2003 SP2?
    Thank you!

    Hi Rya,
I just wanted to add my +5 vote for this great catch by Aaron (nice work "A")
If you are going to upgrade to Unity Connection 8.6
Check out this great doc from Saurabh for the refresh upgrade notes to 8.6.

  • BULK Greeting Change in Unity Connection 8.6 and higher

In Cisco Unity Connection can you have the same voicemail greeting on 330 different voice mail boxes?  These are for stores  and if the store main number is busy or not answered it will got to voicemail
Each of the voicemail box then emails the voicemail as attachment to voicemail box owner?

    Hi Anirudh,
I am not clear on what you mean by this sentence:
Each extension in the 330 sites will be unique and the same extension can be used for the user on Unity  - a total of 330 users on Unity.
The Callflow we need looks like this.
Call from PSTN to SITEA---> CFAtoVM --> Plays Standard Greeting ---MWI for PhoneA at SITEA Turns on
Call from PSTN to SITEB---> CFAtoVM --> Plays Standard Greeting ---MWI for PhoneB at SITEB Turns on
    regards

  • Cisco Unity Connection single inbox and viewmail error

Unity Connection 8.5.1 single inbox with Exchange 2010 and viewmail 8.5.4.  We arein the process of migrating from Unity 7.0.2 to Unity Connection.
We are a lawfirm and many of our admins have full access to their attorney's exchange mailbox to manage their messages and voicemails.  With Connection those admins can no longer access voicemails in exchange accounts other than their own even if they have full access.
A message pops up stating "the requested voice message is no longer available" and only dead air is played whether playback via phone or speakers is selected.  This is a huge issue for our end users.
Has anyone else experienced this or hav eany suggestions for a work around?
I have tried assigning the mailbox access delegation role to an end user but this did not grant access via vewmail.
    Thanks
    Liz

    Hi Liz,
This is expected behavior because VMO has certain dependencies mapped between users and messages, so when a different user tries to access the message, it can't find the mapping which is why you receive that message.  However, VMO 8.6(4) introduced the ability for this exact group mailbox access feature you're after.

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.X and Cisco UCS

    Hi
We are in a planning phase for Unity Connection 8.X on Cisco UCS C-Series. The Cisco Unified Communications SRND 8.0 states that requires reserving one physical core per physical server.
    what does it really mean?

See sample depiction below of applications and physical core usage on a server with 2 CPUs and 8 total physical cores. In white is the reservation of one physical core.

  • COBRAS Import for Unity Connection 8.5 and Subscriber LDAP Integration Status

Using COBRAS Import for Unity Connection 1.1 Build 212 with Unity 4.2 Voicemail Only and Connection 8.5(1)SU1 with LDAP Directory Integration
When I run COBRAS the old alias matches the new alias and my desire is for subscribers being moved to be LDAP inegrated.  However after COBRAS runs, the radio box for LDAP Integration Status on the subscriber is set to Do Not Integrate with LDAP Directory. Is there a way for COBRAS to select Integrate with LDAP Directory when the alias matches on LDAP?

    Hi ben,
If you are just importing from and not authenticating against LDAP, then the PIN comes
    from the Connection Template you used to build the users;
Note that no passwords or PINs are copied from the LDAP directory to the Connection database. If
you want Connection users to authenticate against the LDAP directory, see the “LDAP
    Authentication” section on page 9-7.

  • Unity Connection 8.5 and Exchange 2007 UM

Hi everyone--has anyone configured Unity Connection 8.5 with Exchange 2007 for Unified Messaging yet?  I'm having some odd issues...now every message gets a delayed delivery receipt (regular email messages).  When i followed the guide from Cisco, it didn't work...reported a 503 error when i ran the test from a user's account...
Can anyone provide guidance?  I've only done it under Exchange 2010 (with little to no issues...).
    SJ

I did. Initially it was only Exchange 2010, however in SU2, Exchange 2007/2003 support was activated. It is currently working flawlessly. Just make sure to apply SU2 or upgrade to 8.6 (a little extreme, but to each, their own…). SU2 works well though.

  • IOS 4.2 update and Novell Groupwise

After updating my iPad to IOS 4.2 I can no longer log into my Groupwise account with Safari, I was able to log in using the old IOS! Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

I've got the same problem after updating to iOS4.2.1 - the Groupwise webmail client being version 7.
It appears to have the same symptoms as when I changed to Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8 on my PC. That problem I sorted out by switching off the TLS 1.0 option in the Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Security.
Apparently 4.2.1 introduced TLS (transport layer security) which can be switched on/off in the iphone configuration utility (IPCU), which is also used to configure the ipad. I don't know how to do it but if I work it out, and it does sort out the problem, I'll let you know.

  • Exchange 2007 and 2010 with Unity Connection 8.6

    Hi all,
We have unity connection 8.6 and exchange 2007 currently in place and runnign fine. I am ready to start migrating mailboxes over to our new exchange 2010 farm and as such we will be in co-exsistance with exchange 2007 and 2010 for awhile. What are the steps or procdures to also include exchange 2010 with the 2007 in unity connections? Currently under Smart Host is the IP address of our exchange 2007 server.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
This depends on how you plan on performing the migration. I would suggest the following:
-Creating a new unified messaging service for Exch 2010. You can re-use the same service account name as long as you completed the configuration steps for that integration.
-As you move over user's mailboxes from 2007 to 2010, you can delete the 2007 UM service and add the new 2010 UM service. If you want to change many users at a time you'll need to use bulk administration to change them. If you use BAT to change accounts, see the link below where I have listed them out for another CSC user.
-You can change the Smart Host setting once you have configured the Exch 2010 enviornment to handle your main corporate mail (changing the MX records to point to a 2010 Edge Transport).
Changing the UM service with BAT:

  • SAP Groupware Connector for Novell GroupWise

    Hi all,
I have a task that "investigate SAP CRM and Novell GroupWise integration". I wanna ask you that:
Can SAP CRM synchronizes with groupwise?
do we have a SAP Groupware Connector for Novell GroupWise?
    Regards,
    Chuong Hoang

    Hi,
    sorry for my slowly respond.
according to information shared from help.sap.com. I know that:
"SAP provides two SAP Groupware Connectors, one for MS Exchange Server and the other for Lotus Domino Server."
"The SAP Groupware connector consists of:
          _ SAP Groupware connector.
          _ SAP Groupware connector proxy."
in case that I need a connection between SAP CRM and Novell GroupWise, what will I can do???
         1. Do I need to develop my own SAP Groupware connector, which consists of 2 listed things above?
         2. Is it possible to do that?
Please help me answer these questions.

  • Unity Connections Voicemailes sent in email?

Hi. Is it possible to log in to unity connections as a user and retrieve voice mails and email them? (wav or mp3 or whatever format?)

Yes, Unity Connection has all of the functionality of Unity, without the Microsoft dependancies (or interconnections, depending on your point of view). Users can access VM from any IMAP client (including Outlook) and read, forward, and delete from there. Users can also browse to a 'webmail' style interface that allows they to do the same from a browser.
I don't know if Unity Connection has UM and VM licensing. (I think it does.) But al long as the license allows it, you can definitely get VM via e-mail in Unity Connection.

  • Unity Connection Voice Mail Issue

    Hi,
I have a weird Unity Connection Voice Mail issue and would appriciate any help i can get. Many thanks in advance.
I have Unity connection 7.0 and CUCM 7.0 integrated in a lab enviroment and here is what happens.
When I place a call internally say from 2001 to 2002, things work as expected, 2002 rings and it goes to voicemail where I can leave voicemail and listen to it from 2002.
However, if I place call from the PSTN to the same number 2002 (or any other number in other sites etc) the call again rings in 2002 and goes to voicemail, unity cnx plays the greetings for 2002 and says record your message as usual. Everything up to point is fine, then when the time on the PSTN phone is showing around 14 seconds into the call unity starts playing, "to send this message press one", if I press one nothing happens.
I have rebuilt unity and cucm, even just configured the bare minimum in the lab and still getting the same result. I tried calling from E1 connection and T1 connection but with the same results.
I have run out of ideas...

Sounds like one way audio from PSTN to your Unity Connection, couple of things to check:
    1. ensure your protocols are bound properly on the GW, i.e. SIP/H323/MGCP
    2. Make sure IP routing is OK between Unity and the voice gateway
