Unity Connection Office 365 Single Inbox - 100 Users Limitation

Hi all,
Goiing over the Unity Connection release notes:
Cisco Unity Connection 8.6(2) Support for Microsoft Office 365
Revised 13 April, 2012
In Cisco Unity Connection 8.6(2) and later, you can configure Connection to synchronize voice messages in Connection user's mailbox with the user's Exchange Online mailbox configured on Microsoft Office 365 environment. Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud hosted collaboration solution provided by Microsoft.
Cisco Unity Connection 8.6(2) SU1 is qualified for 100 users with Microsoft Office 365. For scalability beyond 100 users, you need to contact UCBU Product Management team through [email protected] mailer.
Note The integration beyond 100 users will not be supported by TAC until the BU has signed off on it.
I was aware of the 19 users per Unified Messaging account issue, in which we created several UM Service accounts as a temporary fix until Microsoft lifts the limitation.  I wasn't aware of the above that there is a limitation to 100 Users total.
There has been a few posts regarding the 19 user/account issue in which the workaround has been to create up to 20 UM accounts to get up to 380 users as a temporary solution.
Any insight as to when this will be lifted or detailed timelines would be great!
Thanks,
Chris

Hey Chris,
I wouldn't go that route as you nicely noted. The specific locales for su2 are not shown
and I'm pretty confident that this bug would carry over to su2 as well
But then again....I could be way off base here
CSCty54979 - 8.6.x release notes should detail what builds are required for locales
Symptom:
Release notes for Unity Connection 8.6(2a) and  8.6(2a)SU1 are not clear about what builds the use of locales  (localizations) are supported with and where they can be acquired
Conditions:
Customers wishing to support non-US English (ENU) languages with Unity Connect 8.6.x
Workaround:
For  Unity Connection 8.6(2a), you must install ES12 and use the locale  files that are labeled as ES12. The locale files are posted on cisco.com  for download, but Unity Connection ES12 is not (you will need to open a  TAC case and request a copy of 8.6(2)ES12)
For Unity Connection  8.6(2a)SU1, the 8.6(2)ES12 locales should NOT be used. An updated set of  locales will be posted for use with this build in the near future  (expected by roughly mid to late April 2012). Also note that if you are  currently using the 8.6(2)ES12 locales, you should NOT upgrade to SU1  until the SU1 locales are posted to cisco.com so that you can use them.
If su2 is equivalent to ES44 then they aren't shown on this doc either??

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.5 Single Inbox - Unified Messaging?

For the Cisco Unity Connection 8.5, to enable Single inbox unified messaging do we need to get additional licensing for this feature?

    Hi Ali,
    LicIMAPSubscribersMax
Users with IMAP access to voice messages or with single inbox (single inbox available in Connection 8.5 and later only)
Sets the maximum number of users who can use:
•A third-party IMAP client to access voice messages.
•The  unified messaging feature "Synchronize Connection and Exchange  Mailboxes (Single Inbox)" on the Unified Messaging > Unified  Messaging Services page and on the Users > Users > Unified  Messaging Accounts page.
For single inbox, the total number of users in classes of service for  which single inbox is enabled must not exceed the licensed maximum. This  applies regardless of the number of users in those classes of service  who are configured to use single inbox. In addition, all users who are  configured for single inbox must be in a class of service for which  single inbox is enabled.

  • Unity Connection 8.5 Single Inbox Maximum File Size

    Hi,
I have a customer who is using Live Record with Single Inbox & quite commonly the calls they are recording are going for upto an hour. This is obviously resulting in large voicemail sizes.
They are finding that long recordings (ie 20 minutes) are not being sent to their Outlook account. Is this limited in the settings somewhere or is there a maximum that anyone knows of? The Exchange Admin assures me that they should be able to receive upto 50MB emails which is more than enough.
    Cheers
    Russell

    Stanley,
Exchange was the issue. Fix was found by Seppe in TAC - worked with him on a couple of occasions and he is one of the best. His email is below:

  • Unity Connection 8.5 Single Inbox with Verisign Certificates

    Hi,
I am trying to connect CUC 8.5.1.12900-7 to Exchange 2010 using Basic authentication with SSL.
I am having problems when I get to the test user stage and think the problem may be caused by certificates.
To obtain the certificates that I have installed on CUC I got one of the users to connect to OWA and then exported the certificates associated with the connection and then loaded then onto CUC - is this the right way to do it? - there does not seem to be any documentation that covers this in detail.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or at least let me know how to troubleshoot the problem?
    Thanks

You want to export the root CA certificate from OWA and import it to both the tomcat-trust and connection-trust stores. When I did this last week on 8.6(1)a I did not have to restart Tomcat although that has been required in the past. You can spot the root CA certificate by choosing the Certificate Path tab, selecting the highest certificate in the chain, opening it, select the Details tab, and click Copy to File. When you save it you will want the Base-64 encoded file and need to manually change the file extension from .CRT to .PEM.
Additionally, you can rule SSL out by unchecking the Validate Certificates for Exchange Servers checkbox. This will allow the SSL session even if the certificate fails validation.
    Other issues I have seen:
The permissions granted to the Exchange user did not delegate to that user/mailstore or you accidentally missed a step.
The AutoDiscover folder in IIS is not allowing Basic authentication. The Exchange architect I worked with last week wouldn't enable this so I ended up using NTLM authentication instead since both EWS and AutoDiscover were allowing Integrated WIndows Auth.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you had an issue to connect to the SharePoint online.
I had tested with your code, and it worked well as below.
Did your project contain other code? Such as parse the XML file?
You can create a new clean project to check with it works.

  • Report all activations of Office 365 ProPlus for all users

    Hello:
I know that I can open my Office 365 Settings, Software, and see how many devices I have activated Office 365 Pro-plus on.
What I am looking for is a way for an Admin to run a Powershell script (or command) to retrieve the activations for ALL users in a tenant.
    Thanks
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
As far as I know, this is not possible. We can use Get-msoluser command to get the license status. But we can’t get details of all users’ activated computer name list for the Office 365 tenant with a Powershell script.
By the way, this forum focuses on questions and feedback for Microsoft Office Client. There is not so much about Office 365
console/hosted/cloud aspects here. For your case, I would suggest you to post in the forum of Office 365 Community, where you can get more experienced responses:

  • Unity Connection 8.5 Accessing and Purging user messages as admin

Is there a way as an admin I can purge a users saved voicemail messages in Unity Connection 8.5 without deleting their entire account and recreating it?
Also is there a way using an admin account I can access a users mailbox and export messages to individual files (.wav, etc.)for storage/playback/evidence purposes?
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
I'll just add another reference to the great info from Jonathan (+5 "J")
The best way with Unity Connection to delete VM's is with the use of this excellent tool from
    the great suite of Unity Tools (** "reset" feature);
    Unity Connection Bulk User Delete
For resetting users you have the option of emptying the mailbox,  resetting greetings, deleting voice names, resetting passwords,  removing private lists and a number of other options you may choose.   For installations where the user base “changes over” frequently such as  schools this may be a nicer option.  This option is also allowed for  CoRes installations since it does not involve the removal of user  objects from the Connection database.

  • "Office 365 Mailbox" missing for users that are member of Ricipent Management role

    Hi,
I have a hybrid setup with Office 365 and one exchange 2013 standard server on-premises.
I currently have an issue with that I have a button after pressing the + under recipient to create a Office 365 mailbox from the ECP, but users that are members of the Recipient Management role don't have that button visible.
What extra permissions are required to be able to create an Office 365 mailbox from the on-premises Exchange?

    Hi SeidKrv,
    Thanks for your update.
Following article introuduces the permissions that need to assigned before running "New-Mailbox" command.
Please focus on "Recipient Provisioning Permissions" session.
    Recipients Permissions
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638132(v=exchg.150).aspx
Based on the article, it seems both Recipient Management role and Organization Management role are required.
More detailed information on both management role as below:
    1. Administrators who are members of the Recipient Management role group have administrative access to
create or modify Exchange 2013 recipients within the Exchange 2013 organization.
    2. Administrators that are members of the Organization Management role group have administrative access to the entire Exchange 2013 organization and
can perform almost any task against any Exchange 2013 object, with some exceptions. By default, members of this role group can't perform mailbox searches and management of unscoped top-level management
    roles.

  • Exchange Connector / Office 365 Not matching affected user to AD user

We use Office 365 to host our email services.   AD is not synchronized to office 365.  We're bringing Exchange on premises soon so there isn't a lot we want to invest in that existing infrastructure.  I'm using Service Manager 2012 R2.
I have the ADConnector configured, bringing in Active Directory users/groups/computers.
I've gotten the Exchange Connector running in order to retrieve emails from an "IT Services" Office 365 mailbox and automatically create tickets.  Notifications back to the users are working fine.
The problem I'm having is the affected user is not being set properly when a user emails the mailbox and an incident is created.  It is setting the Affected User to that user's name, but when I double click the Affected user, it brings up the "User
    - <UserName>" screen.    All of the information that would be coming in from AD is blank.  So that association between my office 365 email address and the AD user account is not being made.   Even though it says my name with
correct (username) on the incident as the affected user.  And even though my email address is stored inside of AD in the e-mail field.
What am I missing in this process?
    Thank you,
    Mark

I ended up messing around and added a UPN to AD Domains and Trusts matching the domain of our email accounts through Office 365.  I found this because similar preparation is required for AD sync to Office 365, so a proper match can be made.
So for example, if our internal domain is Contoso.Local, and our email addresses are [email protected]
I added a UPN for contosolimited.com in Active Directory Domains & Trusts.  Then I changed my UPN in Active Directory Users and Computers (Account tab), to @contosolimited.com.
Now when the AD Connector ran, it set my user CI UPN (in the Extensions tab) to [email protected]  I then sent an email to [email protected] and it matched my email correctly to my user CI created by the AD Connector.
Now I just have to run a script against AD to update all user UPNs to @contosolimited.com from @Contoso.local.

  • How to establish a Microsoft Exchange connection (Office 365)?

My institution has just informed me that they are switching off IMAP and POP access from Monday. Email and calendaring are provided by Office 365. Alternative configuration instructions are available for mobile devices (iOS, Blackberry, Android etc.) but not for Thunderbird. Their only suggestion is a paid plugin which my school would have to pay for. This just ain't gonna happen. Moreover, I would prefer a free software option if at all possible. ('Free' as in 'freedom', though beer is important, too.)
Calendaring isn't important as I have that setup independently of my organisation's provision. Only email matters.
Searching rather urgently has turned up a few leads but they are generally quite old and almost all require IMAP and/or POP enabled on the server. Beyond that, I've come across the following possibilities:
    davmail which apparently bridges between OWA and IMAP/POP, but I'm not clear if this would work with Office 365 as I've only found references to using it with older MS Exchange servers;
    evolution with a plugin;
possibly KDE's mail programme, although I'm not clear from the information I've found whether this is really an option or not.
I'm running KDE. If possible, I'd prefer to avoid the Gnome dependencies of evolution. However, if that's the only option, so be it. An ideal solution will work on Fedora as well as Arch. (Obviously Fedora is off-topic here - I just thought I might as well mention it.) A really ideal solution would also let me continue using Thunderbird without relying on proprietary code, but I'm beginning to think this is probably a pipe dream.
The most attractive of the above options is currently davmail, if that is really an option. However, I get the impression that this could require considerable overhead.
I would greatly appreciate any advice or pointers anybody can offer me. So far, I've not found anything which even mentions Linux with Office 365. I'm not sure if this is because 'Office 365' is actually relying on something else (and that's what I need to search for), whether it is because the situation is hopeless or whether it is for some other reason.

    brebs wrote:
cfr wrote:I'm not clear if this would work with Office 365
Well, 10 seconds of googling for "office 365 imap" shows encouraging davmail fixed bug report.
Thanks. Sorry. I did spend a lot of time searching but I did not find that. (Using IXQ for search.) But I was not trying 'imap' specifically - rather 'linux' - as I just wanted any way to access it. And the results I got tended to assume the Exchange server had imap enabled.
    Some things I would raise:
    * Check the IT policy regarding whether Linux is supported/accepted. And if not, why not.
    * Push for clarification regarding the supposed security risk, or whatever is being used as justification.
As Trilby pointed out, this is useless.
Linux is not supported except on a 'best effort' basis. I run Linux on my office PC. I'm entirely responsible for it. Local IT will help if they possibly can. Central IT will say that Linux is supported sufficiently because you can use web mail.
They do not need to justify this. There does not need to be an answer to 'why not?'
No justification has been offered for switching off the support. Trilby's IT invoke security to justify not turning it on. My IT offer no reason for turning it off. It is just a fact that it is being switched off.
[For some reason, it has not yet been switched off, although they said it would be yesterday.]
The suggestion of raising these issues may sound perfectly reasonable, but it is a suggestion based on ignorance of reality.
In a sane world, it would make perfect sense. But this is academia in 2015. (Not just academia, I know.) Sanity is an irrelevant standard.

  • Connect Office 365 Exchange Online through Powershell

I am trying to perform some operations on Exchange online(Office 365) through powershell.
First I created a new powershell session and exported the modules to local as "o365", so that on any later operation I no need to use Import-PsSession to download the required modules

While running the command "Get-DistributionGroup", powershell prompts me to enter the office 365 credentials once again. Is it possible to avoid entering the credentials once again? I don't want to use Import-PsSession, since it takes more time.

    Hi,
Not sure, if the following cmdlets can make a difference. Anyway, suggest you to try these:

    $Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://outlook.office365.com/powershell-liveid/ -Credential $UserCredential -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection
