Unity connection users

I am using unity connection 7.x and would like to create a role in which a group of helpdesk users can do std end users configuration changes. Roles in unity connection are view only. How can a new role with customized option be created?

Hi there,
At this time there is no way to setup a new "customised" Role with Unity
Connection

It sounds like the "User Administrator" Role might suit your needs here;
This role allows an administrator to manage user accounts, access all user administration functions, run user-related reports, and use user administration tools.

  • Unity Connection - Users with system default password getting locked out

Hi all, hope everyone is well !!
I am experiencing a strange problem and hope someone can give me some direction on where to start digging on this issue.
I am getting a good number of users reporting they are getting locked out of their voice mail and they all claim that they have not changed their password and some user even got their greeting recorded by someone else. One thing in common for the users who reported the issue is that they all using the system default password. I am trying to trace to find out who/what has access to these users' mailbox but so far I have not had any luck.
    Thanks in advance !!
    Danny

Thanks, yes am doing that now and cant really find any new/unique pattern. Plus the trace is pretty hard to follow. Cant really figure out any times stamps in the trace also. The current trace file is defaultTrace.18.trc and it has very simiiar content as some of the older ones before the problem. Right now the ESS portal is working and the slddsuser password is not locked. It seems the problem takes place on start up?
    /usr/sap/ESS/JC77/j2ee/cluster/server0/log
Tough thing to test in production.
I wonder what takes place at startup that would kick this problem off?

  • ERROR WHILE FORWARDING VOICE MESSAGE FROM NOTES VIEWMAIL TO ANOTHER VOICEMAIL USER IN UNITY CONNECTION

    Hello All,
I am facing problem while replying/forwarding or sending a NEW Voice Message from ViewMail integrated with  IBM LOTUS  Notes 8.5 to the other Voice Mail User Configured in Cisco Unity Connection. The ViewMail Version is 8.0.2 for IBM LOTUS Notes.UC  version is 8.x
I have attached the file that displays the error.
From the view mail inbox if i "Right Click" any email and the "Click ON Forward" I am able to forward the Voice Message from the ViewMail to the IBM LOTUS Domino user [ that is forwarding it to EMAIL Account ], but if I try to forward it to unity user is gives "Failure Delivery".
Now when I double click the individual voice mail message in ViewMail account and then click on "Forward/reply/NewMemo" icon available on the individual voice message window that I have opened ,I get an error as stated below
"The remote name could not be resolved error in Notes ViewMail 10.0.0.152e_vmws_gen_property_not_found "
where 10.0.0.152 is the IP-Address of my Unity Connection Server.
Also just for the information I am able to Login into Cisco PCA for alll the users and able to view the Inbox.
I am able to forward the VoiceMessages between Unity Connection users via CISCO PCA without facing any issue.
A Quick Help will be much appreciated .......... :-)

    Hello Craig,
After spending sometime on troubleshooting , just for testing purpose I created two new Unity Connection Voice Mail User and configured VMN [VoiceMail for Notes] account on the same lotus Notes.
Interestingly this time I was able to use Reply & Reply to All option to send the Voice Message via VMN. {WORKING JUST FINE,NO PROBLEM WHAT SO EVER ]
But still I am NOT able to use Forward option to send the Voice Messages via VMN.
REPLY WITH HISTORY & REPLY TO ALL WITH HISTORY options are also not working.
This is error that I am getting
"Error in QueryServe in CoreUCClasses 213 at line 336:Vmws:The remote server returned an error:(403) Forbidden
I HAVE CREATED VIDEO RECORDING FOR THIS ERROR & WORKING PART OF THE CONFIG TO GIVE YOU A BETTER IDEA OF THE PROBLEM.
Its 7 MB Recording. I hope you can easily Download.
Also important point is that i don't see any previous error that was accuring during my earlier testing.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Unity Connection Speech Connect guest user licensing

I have set up Speech Connect on Unity Connection 8.0(2b) and have a question about importing or manually adding non-inbox users to the Speech Connect directory. From the sparse documents on this feature for Unity Connection it appears that you need to license the server per user to allow this. I have been able to import users from AD and manually add them, but the Corporate Phone Number field is grayed out and blank. We currently don't have any guest licenses installed.
Does anyone know if by adding guest licenses the Corporate Phone Number field would be either filled in during an AD import or editable if adding a user manually?
    Thanks,
    Mark

For non-subscribers, you need to purchase the appropriate amount of licenses for guest directory user access.  The SKU is:
Speech Connect Guest User for Cisco Unity Connection
(for names in the company directory that do not have a Cisco Unity Connection user license)
    UNITYCN-SCGUEST
I believe the use of contacts ties into this as well.  When you create system contacts in Cisco Unity Connection Administration and enable them to be listed in the directory, they can then be accessed by users from the Connection directory. This allows callers to transfer to the extension of the system contact.  I would try that first to see if it allows you to add a contact and enable them for directory access.

  • Unity Connection 8.6 call transfer to non-unity extension

I have converted from Unity to Unity Connection and am looking for a solution for transferring an incoming call to a non-unity user extension.
Here is the scenario:  An PSTN caller calls in and is directed to a Unity Connection Call Handler or a Subscriber greeting.  In the greeting they are advised that if they know the extension they want to call, they can dial it at any time.  Here is the rub, if they dial an extension for a user listed in Unity Connection, the call gets transferred to the extension.  However, if the extension dialed is to an extension that is not a Unity Connection User, the attendant comes back and say the extension is not understood.
In Unity before conversion, I would make an internet user that did not have a mailbox but was listed with an extension.  However, with Unity Connection, I am using LDAP integration with Microsoft AD and I don't see a method of doing the same thing.
Is anyone else doing something like this or know of a method to do it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Gene Keel

In the greeting check this box:
Allow Transfers to Numbers Not Associated with Users or Call Handlers
also make sure the number entered by the call is allowed in Default System Transfer restriction table.

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.5 PIMG integration.

    Hello Experts
My customer has PIMG integration with Cisco Unity Connection, users can access their mailboxes after creating a direct routing rule with the search scope where this users are located to send the call to "attemp sing in" conversation this part is working fine. Now subscribers do not get the user's mailbox when reaching FNA,Busy or RNA they are going to the "welcome to Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System from a...  default greeting. Using Remote port status monitor I can not see the call coming in,but I am sure the call is getting to that server. I will like to know what traces I can enable to get the extension that is being sent by PIMG or what else I can check on the Unity connection server to resolve this issue?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Rob
I  configured the Direct Routing to send the calls to conversation "sing in" because the customer has multiple integrations and duplicated users with same extesion,  he was getting "invalid username and password" everytime they try to log in, meaning that the user was in different CSS and the existing Direct Routing Rule did not have this CSS in the Search Scope.Maybe in you case you the users were not sorted out by CSS.
I am pritty sure they are using Nortel phones, but not sure what exact version.
Thank you for your response.I will try to configure a Forward Routing rule to send the calls to and specific user'extension base on the calling number to see what happens.

  • Unity Connection 8.5 alias to ldap username mismatch

    Hello,
Can someone help me to determine the correct way to integrate LDAP into CUC after mailboxes have already been created from end users in CUCM especially when the ldap user ID and the CUC alias do not match?
    From the cisco guide:
For every Cisco Unity Connection user that you want to integrate with an LDAP user, if the value of the Connection Alias field does not match the value of the LDAP user ID, use Cisco Unity Connection Administration to update the Connection alias so that they do match.
Does this mean that I can change the CUC alias for a voicemail user before doing the ldap integration with no impact to the end user?

    Hi Ricardo,
Yes, you can change the alias at any point without
impacting the end user We have to do it all the time
    when people get married etc.
    Cheers!

  • Can't create a MWI using primary extension for a user having an alternate extension in Unity Connection 10.5.1

    In Unity Connection 10.5.1...
Why can't I create a MWI specifying UsePrimaryExtension (true) when the user as an Alternate Extension defined?
    The CUPI interface responds with:
    DATA_EXCEPTION
    The CUALS interface responds with:
com.cisco.unity.cuals.CuDbException: A subquery has returned not exactly one row
BTW:  If I make the same request for the same user after deleting the Alternate Extension, the create MWI request works as expected.

  • How to delete users in unity connection

    hello all,
I have a unity connection cluster on version 7.1.3 and a cucm cluster on version 7.1.3
when i try to delete a user in unity connection I get the following error
This user is integrated with a Cisco Unified Communications Manager end user. Some fields may be disabled.
I deleted the user in cucm, however the user is still in Unity connection and i can't delete it,
what's the best way to delete a user ?
    thank you
    Cris

When the CUCM End User is deleted, the corresponding CUC user should  automatically be deleted as well. Sometimes this isn't the case and the  CUC user still exists and cannot be deleted due to other database hooks.
First you will need to find the ObjectId for the user that you want to remove from Connection:
run cuc dbquery unitydirdb SELECT ObjectId from vw_User WHERE Alias = 'alias of the user you want to delete'
Now you will want to delete that user as such (this will fail if there are database hooks still on the orphaned user):
run cuc dbquery unitydirdb EXECUTE PROCEDURE csp_UserDelete (pObjectId = 'objectid from above')

  • Error Adding user to Unity Connection 7.0.1

    Hi,
I have cisco unity connection installed on standalone machine, when i try to add any user i receive error on the attached picture.
How can i solve this issue.
    Thanks

The password credentials - either web or voicemail - conflict with the rules in the Authentication Rule(s) applied at the Subscriber Template and/or individual user level.  If you have the "Check for trivial passwords" flag checked then your password cannot be generic strings like 123456 or passwords with repeating characters such as 112233 or even aabbccdd - they are considered easy to hack.  Either assign new initial passwords or change the Authentication Rules and I suspect your issue will go away.

  • Moved users to new message store Unity Connection

We recently moved users to a new messwage store on exchange. These users can no longer receive their voice mail in outlook. Everyone else can. What is the issue here?
    Unity Connection
    8.5.1.10000-206
    Exchange 2003

You may need to check the Unified Messaging profile setup in Unity to ensure it still has access into the new store.  In 2003, it uses WebDav, so if the account you are using is not setup to use WebDav on the new store, Unity can not deliver nor retrive information from this new store.  Also note, there is some sort of odd requirement with Microsoft and WebDav.. the account that uses WebDav must have a mailbox setup and at least one message sent and received to it.   (Or just logged into at least once for it to be active).  I have no idea why, but its documented at MS and seemed to fix a problem for me during a prior install with CUC and 2003 Exchange

  • Unity Connection 8.0.3 - Opening Greeting ignores user input

    Hello,
When I dial CUC pilot number, I hear "Cisco Unity Connection messaging system. From a touchtone telephone you can dial extension at any time. For directory of extensions, please press 4..."
Problem is when I try to dial number 1001 or try to press 4 for directory of extensions, CUC always plays "Sorry there is no operator... Record your message after tone, when you are finished please hang up or press # for more options...". Also, when I record some message after tone, I am unable to cancel message after pressing 6. I think that CUC ignores my touchtone presses.
Setup is simple. CIPC registered to CUCM, CUCM and CUC integration is accomplished via SIP trunk. From CIPC, I dial CUC pilot number, and get mentioned prompts. On CUC, I have configured one user with 1001 extension and associated mailbox. Also, Opening greeting handler has CSS wich contain partition in wich the user with 1001 resides.

I just noticed that if integration is accomplished via SCCP, it works as desired!
Why DTMFs are not send via sip trunk... The question is now...

  • Unity Connection 8.5 not import CUCM end users after reinstall

I needed to reinstall a Unity Connection 8.5 server (server crash due to power failure).
After the reinstallation and reconfiguration of the CUC, the same does not synchronize and / or import users from CUCM (version 8.5).
The CUCM is integrated with LDAP.
    The version of servers are:
    - CUC = version 8.5.1ES16.11900-16
    - CUCM = version 8.5.1.11900-21
Before CUC crash, I could import users usually.
The test in AXL servers in CUC is normal: (Test message successfully sent to AXL server 172.16.21.11:443).
    Any sugestions?
    Regards,
    Ronaldo Gama

    Hi Ronaldo,
This is because the CUCM actually holds a database where all of these users are still tagged as being imported into UC already.  You'll have to get fancy with some SQL queries, you can try these, but do it at your own risk.
    Open SSH to the CUCM
    1) For each user, find the mapping row:
run sql select pkid from enduserappservermap where fkenduser in (select pkid from enduser where userid = 'my_user_alias') and fkappserver in (select pkid from appserver where ipaddr = 'my_connection_server_ip')
In the query above, replace my_user_alias with the alias of the end user and replace my_connection_server_ip with the IP address of the Connection server (or whatever the old Connection server IP address may have been if you changed it after the rebuild).
    2) Delete the mapping row:
You should only get back one row. Delete it. Replace my_pkid with the actual pkid that you got back:
run sql delete from enduserappservermap where pkid = 'my_pkid'
Try to import that user again via AXL.  That's the user by user way of doing it if you don't have too many, but if you're confident they all can be deleted at once you can do the following:
    1.  Find all of the users mapped
run sql select * from enduserappservermap
    2.  The users should all have matching value in the "fkappserver" object ID column if they were mapped to the same pre-existing Connection server.  Once you've confirmed the "fkappserver" object ID of the old UC server, issue the bulk delete command, this is irreversible!
run sql delete from enduserappservermap where fkappserver = 'fkappserver_for_old_UC'
    Hope that helps,
    Brad

  • Problem deleting user from Unity Connection 8.5.1 - BulkUserDelete

We are having issue deleting a user from Unity Connection 8.5.1
We tried the command line to remove the user, no go. We also installed the CUC Clean Inconsistency 1.2 and that to did not remove it.
We then tried BulkUserDelete tool and the initiial search in BulkUserDelete see's the problem user (alias) but on the next screen where you select the users, on that step the BulkUserDelete no longer see's the problem user.
Anyone know of other way to remove a problem user from CUC?

Thanks, Rob. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I feel much more confident about the whole procedure now.
I've read many of your replies to others on this same issue so I'm pretty certain you know what you're talking about. One of the documents I read that made me doubt what TAC said is the document by Saurabh - I've read it through several times already and found it very helpful. Thanks for linking to it.
There's a scheduled back up of UC performed every night (all options are checked). Should I still do a COBRAS backup too or is that unnecessary?
Once the upgrade file installation is complete, do I need to do anything else? From what I've read, this is similar to running a Windows (or Mac) operating system update/patch - start the upgrade file, wait for it to run and once it's complete, reboot the system and continue as usual (assuming everything went OK). Is that right?
    Thanks again!
    Lisa
