Question:
Is it possible using a PDL that when a message is read and/or deleted in one mail box (either via the TUI or e-mail client) to have the message maked read and/or deleted in the other mail boxes? I have a requirement when the environment uses job sharing when User 1 is on shift, he/she takes care of all messages left by callers. Once User 1 goes off shift and User 2 comes on shift, User 2 needs to address all unanswered and new messages. Neither user is ever on shift at the same time, and they can either share te same number, or have their own extensions.
Current Environment:
So currently, I have a call handler taking the call which has a PDL assigned to the message recepient which has User 1 and User 2 as members of the PDL. The messages are sent to each of the users. However, when User1 handles the message, it remains a new message to User2. If use a single Subscriber mailbox that both users share, I can't get the message into their OWN e-mail account. If I use a Call Handler/PDL, each user receives the message, but does not get marked as read when one user reads it, or deleted when one user deletes the message.
Requirement:
Is there a better way to handle the messages and accomplish the requirements:
1. Callers call single number as point of contact and leave message
2. Employee is able to check messages via TUI
3. Employee is able to check messages via Outlook client
4. Once a message is read or deleted, status changes in other users' mailbox

I have handled this in the past by using a shared mailbox. Create a special account with mailbox and import into Unity. This does use one user license. Create a security group with each worker's account in it. Assign Editor rights and Send As permissions (which allows them to forward voicemail messages in that inbox). On the account's Security tab, add the security group and give Full mailbox permissions. This allows you to move employee accounts in and out of the group without having to adjust for permissions each time. For your call handler, send the message to the new mailbox subscriber instead of the PDL. From Outlook, add this inbox to each user's Folder view. It shows up as a second inbox. Because it is a single inbox, one employee can handle the voice message, or delete it for example. The message is Read or removed from the other employees view "sharing" the mailbox.

hi, we have unity 7.x and customer has sent a message using allsubscriber PDL.
Some subscribers state they never recieved the message - is there a trace we can set to check for any failures or list all subscribers that the message was sent. (dont want to do message tracking in exchange as i think that only works for individual subscribers). We need to send the message again so want proof that all subscribers were sent the message. Support Policy for Antivirus Software
Cisco support policy is that customers can deploy third-party antivirus software on the Cisco Unity server. However, Cisco expects that customers (or their systems integration partners) will have tested the interoperability of such products with Cisco Unity before the products are deployed, to mitigate the risk of problems being discovered within the production environment between Cisco Unity and the third-party products loaded on the Cisco Unity server.
If a customer calls Cisco TAC with a problem, a Cisco TAC engineer may require that such third-party software be turned off or even removed from the Cisco Unity server during the course of troubleshooting. If it is determined that the interoperability between the third-party software and Cisco Unity was the root cause of the problem, then the third-party software will be required to be disabled or removed from the Cisco Unity server until such time that the interoperability issue is addressed, so that the customer can continue to have a functional Cisco Unity system.
Before installing any qualified Microsoft service pack on the Cisco Unity server, confirm that the manufacturer of any optional third-party software or hardware that you plan to install on the Cisco Unity server—or that is already installed—also supports the service pack for use with its product.

All Subscriber PDL Unity Connection
we have a 16k user system - anyone ever had any issues with sending a message to all subscriber PDL list , any gotchya's , any limitations . should it work 'straight out of the box' ? (in Unity we used to have to adjust the exchange limits , hence my question - appreciate no exchange here )....TIA, Jag
I am not aware of any issues, I've had customers with over 10+ across few UCXN clusters and never heard of this not working, and I know they use it on occasions.

Unity 4.2(1.0) delayed messages
We have customer who are having issues of delayed delivery of voicemails.. sometimes days...
The problem is that Unity holds some voicemails for days before releasing them. Some users saying that after return from holiday, they clear down all voicemails and then the following day they get some from a few days ago.
I have restarted the server and MTA service but this issue seems to return after few days.
Any idea what could be the issue or is there a bug in this version?
Help would be much appreciated.

This Engineering Special (patch) requires Cisco Unity 4.2(1) and needs to be installed on both Primary and Secondary Cisco Unity failover servers in the case of a failover configuration.

Engineering Special Installation Instructions
Logon to the Cisco Unity server console either directly (physical console) or via VNC (do not use Terminal Services / Remote Desktop)
Double click the executable install file CU4.2(1)_ES173.exe
Step through the installation wizard clicking 'Next' as appropriate
Once the installation has completed select the option to reboot the Cisco Unity server
Post Installation Steps
1) This patch must be installed after applying this Engineering Special, available here for download: Other non-Cisco Unity Patch 70.
This patch installs new prompts to provide a warning when the Reply-All recipient list either contains a PDL or is above a threshold.
2) These steps must be applied after applying this Engineering Special:
a. Stop Tomcat service.
b. Delete only the files in
\CommServer\cscoserv\Tomcat\work\Standalone\localhost\ciscopca directory.
c. Restart Tomcat service.
3) Customers using the Blackberry feature with Cisco Unity must apply this patch on the Blackberry server after applying this Engineering Special, available here for download: Other non-Cisco Unity Patch 76.
4) Customers with systems based in Australia shall be affected by the Daylight Saving Time changes introduced by the Australian Gov't across several of their territories. The changes cause systems to report incorrect time stamps and to resolve them patches from Microsoft and Sun Microsystems must be applied after applying this engineering special:
Sun Microsystems patch:
a. Download the TZUpdater 1.2.2 or later from here: TZ Updater to the Cisco Unity system.
b. Stop the Tomcat service.
c. Unzip the contents to the same folder, file extracted tzupdater.jar
d. Open a CMD window and change directories to where tzupdater.jar is located
e. Enter "%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin\java -jar tzupdater.jar -u -v -bc" and press enter. The output should be similar to this:

- java.vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.

Windows Patch
Apply the relevant Windows patch (Windows 2003 SP1/SP2 or Windows 2000 SP4) to the following machines:
a. Each Cisco Unity Server
b. Each Cisco Unity Bridge
c. All servers hosting Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino housing a mailbox of a Cisco Unity subscriber
d. The Cisco Unity partner mail server
e. Each Exchange server with the Internet Voice Connector installed
f. Each domain controller in an Active Directory (AD) domain with a Cisco Unity server
g. Each global catalog server within the AD forest where Cisco Unity is present
The Windows 2003 SP1/SP2 patch may be obtained directly from Microsoft under Knowledge Base article 955839. The Windows 2000 SP4 patch, KB article 942763, is only available to customers with a Microsoft Extended Hotfix Service Agreement for Windows 2000.

4) Customer sites where Cisco Unity integrated with multiple PIMG devices is failing to start after Microsoft hotfix MS08-037 - KB 953230 was applied must do the following after applying this Engineering Special:
a) Open and close the Manage Integrations (UTIM) utility.
b) Reboot the Cisco Unity server for the changes to take affect.

1) Customers wishing to change the number of Microsoft Exchange mailstores Cisco Unity supports, shall need to modify the registry key found here:

After changing the number of mailstores to support, stop Cisco Unity and the CuMdbStoreMonitor service and then re-start Cisco Unity.

5) Customer's experiencing issues with cross-server transfers to VPIM, Bridge or AMIS subscribers under the conditions listed below should consider enabling this functionality:
- Cisco Unity A and Cisco Unity B are two servers in the same directory and dialing domain.
- Cisco Unity A has a VPIM (or Bridge or AMIS) Delivery Location configured for remote location X.
- Cisco Unity A has a VPIM (or Bridge or AMIS) Subscriber (SubExt) associated with the Delivery Location.
- Cisco Unity B, on the SA Dialing Domain page, "Cross-server transfer: Pass control to the called subscriber's Cisco Unity server" is enabled.
In these conditions, if a caller calls Cisco Unity B and enters the id of SubExt, Cisco Unity B will prompt "One moment please", then immediately "You cannot be transferred now" and the caller will be returned to the previous conversation state.
Upgrade to the latest version of the Advanced Setting Tools.
Launch the Advanced Setting Tool and look for Networking - Cross-server Transfer Behavior for External Subscribers and follow the instructions in the description for a full understanding on how this works feature can be enabled/disabled.

Intergrating Unity Voice-mail with Jabber
We are currently looking at using Jabber and have installed Jabber V 9.2.4
We are running Unity voicemail 7.1.3.
I think we have Unity all set up to use voicemail and we can indeed forward our phone using the computer to our voicemail but we are not seeing anything in Jabber to allow us to access VM from the Jabber client.
I have gone through checks and the following IS set up:
Class of Service in Unity is set to allow users to access VM using IMAP
Unity Voicemail Server is set up
Mailstore is set up
Voicemail Profile is set up
CCMCIP Profile is set up
CUP is set in the credential source for VM. We have also removed CUP and used "Not Set".
We are now getting the Voicemail icon and the Phone Accounts option in the Options menu but we still can't get connected.
Any pearls of wisdom?

Error while loading image from Windows Phone gallery into my Unity application
Hi,
I have developped a Windows Phone plugin for my Unity application which enable me to open the Windows Phone gallery in order to select an image and get its physic path.
I've used this path to load the image in the application with a WWW object but I get this error
"Error. Operation has failed with error 0x80070005: access is denied."
The path is correct because I display it and I've ticked the ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_PHOTO in the WMAppManifest.xml (Capabilities tab).
Here is my Unity C# test code to load the image with the path.

Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks in advance !The error is correct. Your app doesn't have direct access to that path. It can directly load files only from its app data and install directories.
To load from the libraries I it needs to use the StorageFile to get brokered access.
The easiest way may be to copy from the library to local data then use WWW to load that. Otherwise you'll probably need to wrap the StorageFile can for use in unity. Unity has such a wrapper in the Unity Engine.WSA namespace that you can try -

Acrobat XI Pro Install via CCP Packager for Enterprise unuseable - tips for the unitiated
Well, after at least six weeks of trying to script and package Acrobat XI via the CCP packager for enterprise (Windows 7 X64) I have learnt many home truths which I thought I would share with the unitiated. This process, from the point of view of an IT admin who has to mass deploy this application to 680 PC's as part of an updated SOE has been the most painful scripting process I have ever found of any package (we successfully deploy Office, and Autodesk apps!). Not only that, but our entire State technical colleges have all purchased the same version. This will be affecting IT staff across a huge area, perhaps worldwide. Below are some some facts relating to this that I will share so others do not have to trawl the minefiled of dead-ends and confusion that is Adobe forums/official documentation. Apologies for not finding direct links to all of the below just yet but I've run out of time as we now have MANUALLY install Acrobat XI on all of these machines. When I get time I will post some of the links:
Facts:
Acrobat XI and Lightroom are NOT "CC" packages. Therefore they rely on a spearate serial numbers to install standalone without another major Adobe product (eg Photoshop) to be installed and then run first. Otherwise they will run in trial mode. If your organistaion is wanting to install these products I highly recommend seeing if Adobe can provide you with these.
Without the use of serial number for Acrobat XI this almost renders the Customisation Wizard effectively useless, none of the silent install switch will work with "Offline Exception"
Yes, one Adobe employee notes that you must install a major package before Acrobat but as the aoplogies for not fixing this were posted last August, we are still in the quandry of not having any useable fix except for the ridiculous "Exceptions" file and Exceptions installer.
If you run the Build and/or execeptions msi's it installs Acrobat twice, gold Adobe, gold.

It appears that the msi builder for CCP for enterprise is fatally flawed. I have never had as much problem with installing msi's - ever. For example, I have had to re-package the msi multiples times and many times simply running the msi will fail.
The idea that all major installs have to install the 32 bit version AND the 64 bit version is riduclous, enough said.

I think for the time being I have now wasted enough time trying to tear my hair out with this. I will be waiting for Adobe to announce Acrobat and Lightroom CC. this will enable the correct deployment of a single app without having the bloat my SOE with unnecessary applications that most staff rarely use. Now, the story continues, after 6+ hours on the phone with Adobe Support...
When you install Adobe Acrobat XI it asks you to install the C++ Redistributable package and this is where the msi will STOP INSTALLING. even though the MSI says "complete"
Now you think to yourself, OK, I'll write a script to install this msi package no problems, solved.
Nope, the msi for Acrobat Pro XI will Still Halt even if you write this into the script along with halt no err or something similar in your code.
So what do you do?
When you create your msi in Cloud Packager, even though this feels completely against your better judgement tick the box under conflicting Process entitled "Ignore Conflicts and Continue installations" This will (finally) allow you to run the msi. Please see the wonderful deployment script above, which you may still need to edit to your needs (I did) - which I post once it's working perfectly.
You could then install the C++ redist from Microsoft at a later date ----> On that note however (thanks Microsoft for this gem) the Visual C++ redist is an msi for download, but it's actually a zip file calling an exe inside it. I suggest using the App Deploy Repackager to help you change registry entries if you need to install this, but choose your favourite tool (and no I'm not talking about that work colleague you don't like
Note: You will need to install this for certain features of Acro Pro XI to function, most of which relates to sever functions of Acrobat. I will post the exact reasons when I find them. Under pressure to get this deployed, I have not deployed this pckage as yet. Also, I'm unsure how Visual C++ will affect other major apps across my enterprise just yet.
Things to still consider
Acrobat still installs twice in the program directory (1.7GB nd 1.8GB respectively)
As all of the other CC packages are quite easy to install, Adobe needs to provide better service to it's enterprise customers by creating a proper version of Acrobat and Lightroom which is Acrobat CC and Lightroom CC, not version numbers tacked onto their new Cloud Service.
As for the above point I would still recommend creating the smallest msi packages you can, as large msi's that install a number of Apps (eg all of the web/image editing apps) take forever and quite often exhibit install errors
The amount of time I've spent on this is ridiculous, and we've had to package everything from Office to Autocad.
The amount of bandwidth I've chewed up is excessive, with package re-creation (download) of all the products probably about 100GB - however the ability to edit these packages with updates with the CCP is a good step forward.
Using the CCP through a proxy is horrendous, and complicated with the amount of exception through the servers you have to prvide (even then it rarely works).
The MSI packager still needs quite alot of work. As Petri states why he had to write a script like this when Adobe could have done the same thing is beyond him.
Adobe needs to trawl it's forum posts and take out the many false leads and dead ends provided by it's experts.
When I Think of anything else, or wite more scipts I'll let you all know.

Unity Issue in leaving message

i have a problem with unity connection 8.5
I configured one users with voice mail box.
I performed registration by entering name,pin...etc
When i call and forwarded to voice mail system prompt me to leave a mmessage but when i leave message no MWI on and no message in user mail box.
If i call MWI DN from phone i have light on/off.
Any Idea?
tjxIf the issue is with all the users then it could be an issue with the locale also. Make sure the version of the locale matches the version of Unity Connection server installed.

Cisco Unity 7: Voice mail cann't get the name or Number phone of the caller

I have installed Cisco Unity Messaging Unified version 7 and integrated with Exchange 2010.
I have two scenario, and I want to know if are normal or not:
1. If the 2 IP phones are subscribed with Cisco Unity: the first IP phone call the other IP phone and let a voice mail. When the second IP phone check his message vocal it can get the name of the caller or his number phone (the message is: You have One message from XXXX) and he get e-mail as objet: Voice Mail from XXXX.
2. If one IP phone is not subscriber with cisco unity call other Ip phone subscribed with cisco unity and let him a voice mail. The second IP phone when check his message vocal it can’t get the name of the caller or his number phone: The message is: You have one voice mail xxxx; without indicate from!! and he get a e-mail as object: Voice mail from Unknown.
Please, I want to know if the second scenario is normal ? if not, who to resolve this problem? I want that he indicate the number of caller same he isn't subscriber with cisco unity?

Omar YUNSISo for the 2nd scenerio you would want to check what your Message Subjects were set to. For Unity 7 open Web SA, click Configuration and then Message Subjects. Make sure that the Outside Caller Message has %CALLERID% in it somewhere. The value %CALLERNAME% will return unknown if we do not receive a name from the PSTN.
Try setting the Outside Caller Message to:
%U% %P% Voice Message from %CALLERID%
and that should get you your desired results.
The default Message subject is:
%U% %P% Voice Message from %CALLERNAME% (%CALLERID%). So with that it would say Voice Message fom Unknown (xxxx) if it was not able to determine the name of the user which is usually normal from a PSTN call.
Just to note, the From address is always going to say from Unity Messaging System, it will only be the subject that has the extension in it.

Cisco Unity Express 8.6.6 Voice Mail not deleting when e-mail with attachment deleted
I have a Cisco Unity Communications Manager rel 9.1.2 that supports a remote location with a Unity Express rel 8.6.6 voice mail service module in the voice gateway to insure if WAN goes down the location still has voice mail. We have Voice Mail to E-Mail working. The problem is that when the e-mail with the voice mail is deleted the message stays in the Unity Express Voice Mail Box. All of our local users on the same Call Manager Cluster using a local Unity Connection Cluster rel 9.1.2 have the voicemails deleted when the e-mail is deleted.
How can I resolve this issue?Found another post that referenced Cisco Bug ID CSCti37610.
CUC plays message is from Unity Connection Messaging system
Symptom:Before message playback, Unity Connection plays the message is from Unity Connection Messaging System instead sender's ANI
Conditions:Problem was observed on Unity Connection cluster and appropriate services are not rebooted after changing the SMTP domain name
Workaround:
Restart the Unity Connection servers
It should have been fixed in 8.5 but we did change the SMTP domain name on 8.6 and now see the problem. Will schedule a reboot and see if the issue goes away. -
Unity Connection 7 with overlapping extension
Hello everybody,
I'm deploying a CUCM 7.1.3 + Unity Connecion 7.1.3 to a customer, and I have a doubt when using overlapping extension. As it's a large environment, he has overlapping extension number in his multiple sites. For example, both SiteA and SiteB have the extension range 8XXX. In CUCM I have configured some translations patterns, so that an user from SiteA should dial 118XXX in order to reach SiteB, and an user in SiteB should dial 218XXX in order to reach site A. And each site has its own line partition to extension numbers. And everything works fine...
But these users are all in the same Unity Connection Server. So I would have users from SiteA and SiteB with the same extension in Unity Connection, and I can't do that. What I know can do is to configure some partitions from SiteA and SiteB in CUC, and put each subscriber in one partition, right?
But when a user wants to reach the voice mail to get his messages, how Unity Connection knows from which location is he?
Please, anyone could advise me how can I proceed with this configuration?

I workarounded my problem creating multiple VM Profiles, and assigning a diferent Voice Mail Box Mask for each. And in Unity connection I created a alternate extension for each user.
For example... the extension 6000 from SiteA has the VM Profile VM_SiteA, which has the voicemail box mask 11XXXX. And this user in Connection has the alternate extension 116000. And the extension 6000 from SiteB has the VM Profile VM_SiteB, which has the voicemail box mask 21XXXX, and this user has this number as alternate extension as well (216000)... It works fine like this.
But actually I haven't tested the MWI... If I have a translation pattern in CUCM that translates 11XXXX to XXXX (in partition from SiteA), and another 21XXXX to XXXX (in partition from SiteB), and configure the MWI extension in Connection to be 11XXXX and 21XXXX, will it work? Have anyone already tested this?

Unity Connection integration with Outlook problem.

We deploy CUC 7.1 and we integrate it with MS exchange 2007 and outlook, and we perform the recommended configuration to make the voice mail message to be appeared in both Unity connection voice mail store and to be sent to exchange then appeared in outlook as inbox message, we perform that by choosing Accept and Rely option in Message actions tab.
The customer want when the message accessed from the outlook the MWI on turned to MWI off!!!!!
How can i perform that?

What you are wanting is not available with CUC 7.x "Accept and Relay"
In Cisco Unity Connection 7.1, you can use the accept and relay action to instruct Connection to both deliver each message of a certain type to the user mailbox and forward a copy of the message to the relay address. (This is sometimes referred to as "accept and forward.") This option may be useful for users who regularly use a device that accesses a separate server for messages, such as a handheld wireless device, and want easy access to voice messages both on the alternative device and through the Connection user interfaces. If you choose this option, the user receives two copies of each message. The copies are stored in different message stores, and any actions the user takes on the relayed copy are not reflected on the copy stored in the Connection message store.

Unity Connection Integration with CS 1000 and Meridian 81 - PIMG
I have a customer who have (2) Nortel Meridian 81 and (1) CS1000 for their 3 locations along with Octal 350 servicing 2500 voicemail users today. Customer also has a Cisco UCM in their network today which is servicing their wireless phone users.
UCM and CS1000 are networked together using Q.Sig trunks today. Customer is looking at replacing their Octal solution with a new Voice mail solution.
I was looking at integration documents for Unity Connection using PIMG.
In this scenario, would I need 3 separate PIMG 's at the three remote sites and integrate it with Unity connection or Can I achieve this using just one PIMG at one of the sites, considering the three sites are trunked together using tie-trunks.

Callmanager, Unity Issue with Voice Mail
Hello Guys,
I am currently facing an issue with a Callmanager <-> Unity integration.
The situation is the following one:
All user own a voice mail box. User A forwarded its phone to his voice mailbox. User B forwarded its phone to User A.
If now User C calls User B, he gets forwarded to User A , of course. But if user A does not take the call, User C hears the voice mailbox from User B.
I would like to have for a special situation that User C hears the voice mailbox of User A.
Is this possible?
