Universal Installer hangs while de-installing

Hi,
I am having a local setup (on my laptop) of Oracle Database 10g R1 and Oracle Developer suite 10GR1.
Now i want to uninstall all oracle product from my laptop. To do this when i start Oracle Universal Installer and click on De-install products, it gets hang and nothing happens. I tried calling oui from both oracle homes but with same result.
OUI also hangs when i click on Installed Products.
I do not know what is wrong.
Can anyone give suggestion to resolve this issue?
Thanks
AT

Hi Nick,
Thanks for reply.
I am having steps to completley uninstall oracle from Windows which are similar to the link you mentioned in your post.
And first step is to "Uninstall Oracle components using oracle universal installer".
And I am stuck here at this point. I am not able to uninstall Oracle components using oui as it is hanging.
Can there be some problem with JRE?
Thanks

    Dear Oracle Oracle BI Software,
This software is a big puzle for end users and it is really wasting our time in try and error scenarios. admit it with us and don't hide behid curtains. Well did u follow the Guides in the Book ? Yes Yes i followed and it is still showing errors .. in the name of God inform the Development Department to manage the setup .. i configured everything fine and what is really funny that after it loads 100 % it discovers that it can't create domain. sorry i m not a master Guy, but before the installtion it should validate for us if everything is ok and can be lauched not to do 1 hour workshop and cover out at the end of the movie that there is an error.
Guy put this product in the shelf until next release
    Thank You

  • Universe Designer Hangs while saving

    Hi Experts,
Universe Designer hangs while saving a universe design.
Earlier it was working correctly and suddenly I am facing this issue. I restarted my system couple of times and there was no luck.  The designer application works as expected and only problem is it hangs while saving.
In eventviewer, I have following message
    Event Type: Error

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
What could be the cause and how to solve this? Any clues appreciated.

This happening for all universes. I face this issue even when I import a Universe from CMS and save.
Finally this problem got solved by restarting couple of times. My guess is that it could be due to no of concurrent connections exceeding(Using EDGE 3.1 in 5 CAL evaluation). When I brought down to session count to 2, it is working.
    Thanks for quick reply.

  • Installer Hangs At "Currently Installing JRE - 1%"

It's been sitting on this doing nothing. I tried restarting my computer and it won't budge from this. I tried cleaning it out with Creative Suite Cleaner and trying again: no dice.

It is not working. The installer hangs at 3% while the time remaining increments. It says it's installing camera profiles.
Can anybody tell me how to get this to install properly, please?
the support advisor gives me this error: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/835/cpsid_83572.html
Which is confusing as hell, I never had CS4 and I don't have it now.
    It also gives me: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/902/cpsid_90243.html
Which is also confusing. I uninstalled Flash Player in the hopes of fixing it, no dice.

  • SAP installation hangs while installation EHP4 ready on Solaris-Oracle

    Hi,
I am in a process of installing EHP4 READY on Solaris , with ORacle database.
at 13 Phase CREATE DATABASE, the installation hangs up
when i check the log    ora_sql_results.log  it says
SP2-0310: unable to open file "ora_scr_tmp.sql"
not getting any clue  i have added group sapinst to user orasid, and also gave full permission to the file
    "ora_scr_tmp.sql  "
    still no luck,
    please advise.
    Regards,
    Irfan..

    Hello Irfan,
SP2-0310: unable to open file "ora_scr_tmp.sql"
    There are 3 possibilities...
    1. Users and there Group membership is incorrect.
    2. ORACLE_HOME directory permissions are not set or incorrect.
    3. Profile parameters are not set..
    Check this as below:
    1. Check the Users and Group membership as below:
    Users -----------> Primary Groups
    <SID>adm ------> sapsys,oper,dba,sapinst
    ora<SID> -------> dba,oper,sapinst
    2. Check that ORACLE_HOME has 755 permissions and ora<sid>:dba should be the user and owner. You can set it with below command:
    # chmod 755 -R /oracle
    # chown ora<SID>:dba -R /oracle
    3. Check if you defined ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID environment variable for user ora<SID>.
    Regards.

  • Viewing the installation guide while you install

I was thinking about trying the Arch. And I'm just wondering if I can view the installation guide or newbie guide while I install Arch.
I didn't find any txt of html files on the installation disk.
Does this mean that while I'm not very confident with installation process I should print out the installation guide or have another computer nearby to look into it?

hi, I never tried it but..
    (from the wiki) http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Off … tall_Guide
"At any point in the install process, you can switch to your 5th virtual console (ALT-F5) to view the output from the commands the setup is running. Use (ALT-F1) to get back to your first console where the installer is running, and any F-key in between if you need to open another console to intervene manually for any reason."
at this point you can use:
    extra/lynx 2.8.6-1 (a text browser)
this is an opportunity but I can't suggest it... it's better to print the guide

  • Oracle 10G - Standard Edition; universal installer hangs at 40%

    Hi,
I'm installing (or trying to) 10G on FC3 and the installer hangs at 40%. During the pre-install checks, the installer threw up only one warning (that the amount of swap was less than the amount of physical memory installed, but given that the installer isn't even managing to fill up the 4GB of physical RAM, I thought that'd be fine).
There are no errors evident in the install log, it just hangs indefinitely after these lines:-

    Any ideas anyone?

  • I cannot install flash builder 4.6.  Installation hangs while unpacking files

Below is the information from the event viewer.  I am using Windows XP SP3.  I don't know, but I wonder if it has something to do with our roaming profiles.  The place it seems to be trying to unpack to is \\EssexHQVM\Desktops$\user.name\Desktop\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 Installer, which has a special character in it.  I can't find any way to have the file unpack to another location, it doesn't prompt for a location.

So, the best solution that I have come up with, which is a poor solution, is to run the .exe file on a machine that is not connected to our network and wait for the files to unpack.  Then copy the files to a thumb drive and move them to the computer that I work from.  I can then install Flash builder with no problem.
This is a kludgy work around that ought not be.  How hard is it to have the unpacking routine prompt for a location?  That would allow me to give it a location to unpack that would not cause a hang up.  Or, failing that, why not unpack in the same location as the file that is doing the unpacking?  Then I could simply place the file in a good location and let it run.

  • Installation hangs at 48% Installing files....

During Windows 2012 Essentials Migration installation (migrating from SBS2008), the install process gets to Installing Files..., 48% complete and hangs.  I let it run for over a day and nothing.  Attempting to restart, by deleting the partitions
on the disk and starting from scratch does nothing.  It always hangs in the same place.
I am attempting to install this in a virtual machine.  The setup is a virtual host running Windows 2012 R2 Standard, and the VM is Windows 2012 Essentials.  The Essentials VM has a 500GB virtual HD and 8GB RAM allocated.
I have also performed a clean install with the same setup as a test and it works fine.

Essentials Migration with ISO: Hangs at 48%
Essentials Migration with DVD: Hangs at 48%
Essentials Clean install with ISO: No problem.
48% can have 2 different messages, one stated "installing files..." and the other had something to do with Active Directory modification (I don't remember the status message).
If it makes it to the Active Directory modification, it will add the new server to the Computers OU, but nothing else.  All FSMO roles are not modified.

  • Installer hangs - unable to install or update any applications

I am not able to install anything, from an Acrobat update to Apple Motion. The installer always hangs around 3/4 of the way through.

Try repairing your hard drive as a start:
Repair the Hard Drive - Lion
Boot from your Lion Recovery HD. When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

  • RAC installation hang while running root.sh

Hi, I'm installing 10gR2 on AIX 5.3 ML05 with HACMP 5.3, CRS & RAC S/W will be installed on local disk, and all other database files, voting disk & OCR are on RAW device on SAN storage. When I was installing CRS and running runinstaller, it prompts me to run root.sh on each node, then I run it on the first node with user "root" but the script hang after showing lines:
    Now formatting voting device: /dev/reaivd01
    Now formatting voting device: /dev/reaivd02
    Now formatting voting device: /dev/reaivd03
Format of 3 voting devices complete.
Startup will be queued to init within 30 seconds.
I've tried to grep any CRS daemon started but cannot find any. Then I tried to start CRS manually but failed to start. Please help and thanks in advance!

I found the following error in /tmp/crsctl.xxxxx:
Failure in CSS initialization opening OCR.
It is running the command "crsctl check boot". Anyone help? thanks!

  • Re-install software after uninstall with home using universal installer

after uninstalling 10g software with home using universal installer how to re-install without deleting all components of database like the database exists i just want to put the oracle software on it and reusing x home location.

    Tofayel Ahmad wrote:
when it about linux then what would be the job.re-installing software in linux or windows like establishing a new database Regardless of the OS, installing the software is distinct from "establishing" a database. You can install the software without creating a database, but you cannot create a database without having installed the software.
so it's need time but for some missing services or few software components that would be a more costing. if there is a possible action that could restore the missing services in home. Huh?
The concept of "services" in Windows doesn't exist in Linux.
i thought it's would be great to startup the database in less time then installing. if i would install the software and using backup data file recover then is it a consistent recovery or inconsistent recovery. All recoveries that complete are consistent. Not all backups are consistent, but when you do a recovery, the redo stream is applied from the archivelog files to make the recovery "consistent".
so when ever need to recover what should require for consistent recovery so that i can say without this all other type of recovery jobs are inconsistent.there is no such thing as "inconsistent" recovery. You are either able to recover from your backups, or you are not able to recover. If you are able to recover, you are "consistent". Now, mind you, that does NOT necessarily mean your recovery will recover all data up to the point of failure. your ability to do that depends on having all the necessary backups, including archivelogs and ultimately, intact online redo logs. Without that, the best you can do is a point-in-time recovery. But it will still be "consistent" with the point in time to which you recover.
i am asking because as far i know i understand that no client would agree to go for inconsistent recovery. as i mentioned i am a new comer i have lot of confusion please if possible give some details. Well, I wouldn't agree to go for an inconsistent recovery, as no such thing exists. If you are talking about point-in-time recovery with potential data loss - it depends entirely on the client, the application, and the tolerance for data loss. Banking transactions cannot afford any loss of transaction data and so must have very robust systems with comprehensive, multi-level backups. Some other systems can be surprisingly forgiving.
