Universal PDF Viewer - Default on Letter and not on A4?

Hello guys,
Does anybody know how I can change the default settings of my Universal PDF Viewer printer?
I have to put this thing back to A4 format everytime I print.
So it is created with the Letter format default now.
It uses the HP Color LaserJet 8500 PS driver in SGDADMIN.
THNX alot!

Hi.

  • I am viewing a PDF in the new PDF Viewer in Firefox 19 and parts of the document look corrupted and do not view properly. Why is this?

The PDF is a newsletter for my company that can be found here:

    Thank you

This is a new feature, and not perfect. Also there are various versions of pdf file about. If necessary download the file instead, or consider using an add-on instead to view the files.

  • Adobe PDF Viewer X in Safari 5 not displaying documents protected by HTTP Authentication

I have the latest Adobe Reader X release (10.0.0) for Mac OS X 10.6 in Safari 5.0.3. The PDF Viewer is unable to display files hosted on directories protected by HTTP Authentication. The progress bar keeps spinning forever.
I've tried it on several Macs and various Apache web servers, with both Basic and Digest Authentification.
Adobe PDF Viewer running on Mac OS X 10.5 doesn't have this problem. Adobe PDF Viewer X running on Windows XP with Safari 5 doesn't either. So it is specific to the latest release for Mac OS X 10.6.
Any idea for a fix? I can't revert to a previous version of Reader since the older plug-in doesn't run in 64-bit Safari (the default on Snow Leopard) - please don't tell me to force Safari to run in 32-bit mode.
Is it at least a known bug that will be fixed soon?

You mean disabling HTTP Authentication? Yes, of course. And it works without it. That's how I know that the cause of the problem is HTTP Authentication.

  • PSE 8 Organizer. View (Sub-) Categories: OR, AND, NOT...

I'm testing the Organizer in PSE 8. I've created several categories including subcategories. A simple example:
    PEOPLE
              Peter
              Paul
              Mary
    YEAR
              2008
              2009
When I select the subcategories Peter and Paul, I see the thumbnails / pictures that contains either Peter or Paul and both Peter and Paul. This view corresponds with what is called a Boolean OR. But I cannot find a way to only view thumbnails / pictures containing both Peter and Paul (Boolean AND).
Is this possible in PSE8 Organizer?
You can do this easily in for example ACDSee or IDImager by choosing the Boolean option you want (AND, OR) - but the way it is done differ between these two applications.
    Jøran

It's not at all obvious, but you can get boolean AND for keyword searches:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Searches_are_showing
You can also use the search text box to type queries, using AND, OR, and NOT:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ElementsOrganizer/8.0/Win/Using/WS3265F89A-20BA-47fd-81D5-9091 ABA3819D.html
For some reason, product designers of consumer products still think that boolean OR is a better default than boolean AND.  But for the last ten years, consumers have been trained by Internet search engines to expect boolean AND.

  • How do I setup users to create files in /Users/Shared with group permissions default to rw and not just r?

I have setup my iMac with 4 user accounts (for the wife and kids).   Some files I would like them to all have access to and that access be read / write.
I believe I should use the /Users/Shared directory but when a user creates a file there the permissions are rw for the owner but only r for the group & other.   I would like the permissions to default to rw also for group when the file is created so any of them can edit the shared file.
Basically the umask is defaulting as 0022 and I would like it to be 0002.
How can I set their account behavior to be this way by default?  Thanks

You should be able to take the permissions you have set and "apply to enclosed items." I am trying to attach a picture of what this looks like so my apologies if it does not work.
Highlight your folder you want and go to File>Get Info or command+I and at the bottom where it has Sharing and Permissions, click the lock button to authenticate. Click the gear and click "apply to enclosed items". See if that works.

  • Way to force .pdf to open in Reader and not in browser

I saw where there was an Acrobat action called
Convert PDF2FDF auto-save Action on the AcrobatUsers.com Action Exchange.
which didn't work, it came in corrupted and unusable.  Does anyone know of an action or anything that will force a .pdf hosted online to open in the visitor's Reader program and NOT the browser they are in...?  No matter what browser.
Any help you can give me with this is appreciated.   Looking for a consistent user experience here where they can fill in the information on the pdf form, save it and email it without too much hoopla.
I am really surprised after all of the work I've put into this that this is not something that is more easily accomplished, but perhaps I am doing something wrong or don't have enough information.
    Thanks!
    Ruth

Actions can be tricky, Are you aware that the method of encoding Actions or Batch Processes changed between versions 9 and 10 and again between 10 and XI?
What version of Acrobat are you using?

  • Why is information defaulting from Contract and not from PIR in the PO?

    Hi Gurus,
As far as I knew, the information in the PIR (Purchase Info Record) should get importance, while getting defaulted into the PO. The planned delivery time in PIR is different than that in the material master and the price in the contract is also different from that in PIR. Now, when I am creating a Standard PO (doc type NB), and putting the contract and line item in the outline agreement column, and hitting enter, the price is pulled up from contract. Although, I can see the info record in the correct column, but price is not defaulting from there. Again, the delivery time is calculated based on the planned delivery days in the material master (GR processing time = zero) and NOT from the Planned delivery time value in the Info record.
I think, I am doing something wrong or there is something wrong in my understanding. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
If there's 2 source in the PO (Contract and Info record), the system will take the source from Contract, as its SAP standard design that contract has a higher priority then PIR. To make sure it, check to your Contract document as well , if the info update is updating the condition or not.
You can perform a simple test also, create a PO with only PIR and a PO with Contract and PIR, you will see the difference.

  • How can I view resolution in DPI and not PPI?

    Hi all,
Under Bridge>view content as list, I got a column of Resolution but the mesurement are ppi and not dpi and i need to see the dpi.
Anyone knows where can i set it?
    thanks..
    shlomit

    Shlomit,
Strictly speaking, images do not have dpi (ever), only ppi.  Images are made of pixels, not dots.
    Dpi refers to prints.
However, in everyday use, the terms are loosely used interchangeably.  They work out to exactly the same thing (same numbers), but ppi is the correct terminlogy.
    See:  http://www.scantips.com/basics01.html
DPI, PPI, SPI - What's in a name?
Printer ink dots and image pixels are very different concepts, but both use the term dpi in their own way (dots per inch).
Inkjet printer dpi ratings refer to printer ink dots (the four colors of ink), which is NOT AT ALL the same thing as image pixels. These are such different concepts that some people think we should reserve the term dpi for those inkjet ink dots, and reserve use of ppi only for image pixels. Not a bad plan, except that this view fails to recognize real world usage.
We may hear scanning resolution called spi (Samples Per Inch), and that is indeed what it is. We often hear image resolution called ppi (Pixels Per Inch), and that is indeed what it is. The spi and ppi terms are correct. But historical and common usage has always said dpi for image resolution, meaning pixels per inch, and fully interchangeable with ppi. Pixels are conceptually a kind of colored dot too, and resolution has always been called dpi, for years before we had inkjet printers. Dpi is just jargon perhaps, but it is a fact of life. Scanners and scanner ratings say dpi too, meaning pixels per inch (see dialog pictures here, here, here, and here).  I habitually always say dpi myself, but I did try to switch to ppi in the book version.
We may use the term of our own preference, but we need to understand it both ways. Some photo editor programs have switched to saying ppi now, which has much to be said for it. But others have not switched, so insisting on conformity for others to only say ppi will necessarily encounter much frustration, because the real world simply isn't that way, and obviously is not ready to switch yet.
My point here is that we must understand it both ways, because we will see it both ways, often, in the real world.
It's easy, not a problem - the idea of printing digital images is always about pixels per inch, so when the context pertains to images instead of printers, all of these terms, spi, ppi, and dpi, are exactly the same equivalent concept - they all mean pixels per inch.
There is no problem understanding any use of dpi if you know the context. It always means the only thing it can possibly mean. If the context pertains to images or printing pixels, dpi means "pixels per inch". If the context pertains to inkjet printer ratings, dpi means "ink dots per inch". There is no other meaning possible. This should be clear and no big deal - the English language is full of multiple context definitions.

  • How can I have links within emails read with Seamonkey open on the default Firefox browser and not the Seamonkey browser?

  • How can I make sure under Windows 8 in Explorer to get a real pdf document content file miniature and not the Adobe logo miniature?

This is not a typical Windows 8 problem, I had the same problem with all my previous Acrobat versions on all previous Windows versions.
How can I make sure that when consulting pdf files via Windows explorer the pdf file is represented as a genuine miniature of the document content itself and noit just a document icon with Adobe logo?

    Hi Josialaers,
Turn the 'Preview Pane' ON and you should be able to see the content of the pdf when clicked.
When 'Show preview handlers in preview pane ON' is checked in 'Folder Options' of Windows Explorer.

You can see the encoding is already off in your Tagged Text data file, so the error lies in the program you used to do that conversion.

  • How to make .pdf's open in Reader and NOT Photoshop

I am using Adobe Reader X, v 10.1.1 with Vista.  I also have Adobe Photoshop installed.  When I try to open a .pdf file, it automatically opens in Photoshop instead of Reader.  Is there a setting I can change somewhere to ensure that pdf's automatically open in Reader instead?
    Thanks!

If you are using Windows XP. you can do the following (any other OS will probably be similar).
Highlight a PDF on your drive. Right-click, choose "Open with>Chose program". Select Reader then click the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."

  • FREE3OF9 barcode font not displaying in Firefox's new built-in PDF viewer

I have a PHP web app that uses FPDF (v1.53) and the FREE3OF9 barcode font to dynamically generate a PDF which includes a barcode in it. The font is imported into the document using the FPDF AddFont method (http://fpdf.org/en/doc/addfont.htm). In versions of Firefox prior to 19, the PDF opened in a new tab, was displayed by the Adobe Acrobat plugin, and the barcode showed up perfectly fine.
Now that Firefox 19.0 is using its own built-in PDF viewer, the barcode no longer displays at all -- there's just a blank spot where it should be. It continues to display fine in IE and Chrome. How I can get the font to display correctly in the newest version of Firefox?
I understand that I can change the Action for the PDF content type to 'Use Adobe Reader' in the options, but I'd prefer to fix this so that my users don't have to change their browser settings. Or at the very least, it would be nice if they could only change the Action for PDFs originating from my site and not globally.
    Thanks.

You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer and use the Adobe Reader instead.
